  1. I have a question. The so called name restoration patch will also restore skills, weapons and the name of the kingdoms are are you guys only going to do so with character names?

And what about those who want only the Amie without the Japanese names?

Well we already use Nohr, Hoshido, and Invisible Kingdom for the kingdoms. As for items and weapons and skills, it depends. Skills are generally taken from Awakening, items are either their Awakening name, but new items (especially character special ones) are by us. Weapons are the same case.

We're going to only worry about name + Amie for now, because if we can do that, it's but 10 minutes work really to restore the localized names.

Is there a guide or video on how to install the patch? I'm still new to 3DS Homebrew. Also, I want to patch it on my JP N3DS than on my US N3DS XL, since I have all the DLC installed on my Japanese handheld. It is on 10.3.0-28J.

Op for normal Hoshido + Nohr (or read back 2 pages, iirc there's a Hans post). For IK, DLC, and installation as a .CIA, that's a lot more complicated that we'll eventually make a guide on (some others have already though)

  2. I have a question, if the Amie/Live2d asset is entirely removed rather than locked or disabled in NA cartridge, is it still possible to restore the Amie function

itself? I believe the 2d asset itself is quite large and I could see NoA removed the entire asset to cut some production costs.

And if the team successfully restore the function, will it be complete silence or japanese voice during conversation since NA didn't record anything

for Amie in the first place?

Appreciate the hard work translation team, been a long time lurker and everyone here from Indonesia is excited with the possibility of restoration patch.

    Thanks you!

Cutting production costs is more likely they just disabled instead of removed completely. If they did remove it completely though, we will attempt to modify the code (the deep sections) to restore Amie into FE:Fates.

Should Amie be restored, the voice files will depend. If NoA originally did record Amie files, chances are those files are still there and we'll restore it. If not, we'll attempt to add the Japanese files to the library and use those.

  3. Oh sorry about that! I misinterpreted your posts earlier and thought that meant it would just be an addition to the Serenes tl, not a patch just by itself. Just for curiosity's/clarity's sake, could you tell me if this is an accurate list of patches planned:

-[JP Ver] Full Serenes TL Patch

-[JP Ver] Official localized TL with JP names Patch

    -[West vers] Amie restoration only

-[West vers] Full Serenes TL Patch

    -[West vers] JP names patch

With all the West versions getting Amie restored if possible, presumably. I just want to know what my future options are is all.

Only the Serenes Full TL, Western name restoration and Amie restoration patch are officially planned, but as a general rule, what you listed is what we would like to do, given we have time to.

Applying the English official TL to the Japanese version may be piracy, though.

We can't guarantee anything until we get our own copies of the Fates SE and dig through the files, though.

  4. Any chance that there will be multiple mod versions for the Western releases, or will there only be a single patch version for the NA and EU versions respectively? I ask this because I would like to play the Amie bits while also being able to play the official localization and see the changes made in the text firsthand. I understand if this doesn't happen because of time limitations or just general lack of interest but I believe there could be enough of an audience in a similar position to mine to justify this.

Already said we would. Look back a page or two. Should be somewhere there.

  5. Thank you very much! So it looks like I am on the right track.

So I'll have to use the Japanese eshop to download the Japanese version of the DLC then. It sounds like it's a lot more complicated to get IK and the DLC to work with the translation patches - is that complicated stuff for applying the translation patches to the DLC or just for getting it to work with installed CIAs of the other Fates games? Is IK its own CIA file? What about the DLC maps?

At least if I could get Conquest and Birthright working with the translation patch that would be great, the DLC is a whole different matter then...

Applying anything to a .cia requires you decrypt the game, then take our files, rebuild a .cia, reencrypt it, and install it. Which most people can't do.

A .cia should be able to hold all of If and its dlc, but it's also a common thing to install DLC with a separate .cia. All of which you'll have to rebuild.

As for now, I would recommend you get the normal version of our translation working, then worry about the complicated stuff.

  6. Looks like I'm going to have to go the CFW route if HANS doesn't allow patching the DLC. I've done some research and just want to make sure I understand the process.

To be able to run Japanese CIA format games starting with an NA old 3DS 10.3.0.28:

    1. Downgrade from 10.3 to 9.2

    2. Install rxTools CFW

    3. Update emuNAND (but leave sysNAND at 9.2)

    4. Install a CIA installer such as FBI

    5. Place a patched CIA of Fates on the SD card

    6. Install the CIA file using FBI

When the CIA is installed, does it then work like a normal digital game, that is, can you launch it off the 3ds main menu, or do you have to use a program like HANS to launch it?

Since it will be a patched Japanese game, is there anything I have to do to get around the regionlock or will it just work with the cfw?

What about Invisible Kingdom and the DLC, how do I get it to work with the patched fates game? Do I just buy it off the eshop and patch it? Will I have to use the Japanese or NA eshop? Can I even access the Japanese eshop from an NA 3ds?

    Thanks in advance.

    5. Be sure that the patched .cia is on the SD card of the 3DS system (although if you're using a CFW that isn't Gateway I suppose it doesn't matter).

Yes, an installed .cia should just appear as a regular digital application. You can even delete the .cia off your SD card once it's installed.

Also, the CFW itself should be region-free, and the .cia will make it so you don't get a ban online. You should just be able to launch it normally.

Regarding IK and the DLC, you need to first buy it off the eshop, then do a lot of fancy work (decrpyting, replacing files, rebuilding, etc), and rebuild it as a custom .cia, and install that via BBM or FBI.

You'll have to use the Japanese eshop, it's not like you can download Japanese DLC on the NA eshop, lol.

And yes, you can access the Japanese e-shop on an American 3DS. That's a whole different story, but it isn't very complicated either.

Here's a general tip: Unless you really know what you're doing, don't attempt to extract, decrypt, and rebuild a custom .cia for making the DLC work. That stuff is complicated.

....there's another way that some people on this thread probably use but shh.

  7. Kinda late to the party, but it looks like they've limited how much of each thing you can buy (for each transaction):

    Crackers - 2x / bill

    Artworks - 2x / bill (not 2 of each, 2 total)

    Sleeve sets - 1x / bill

    Playmats - 1x / bill

    Pin Badges - 1x / bill

    Individual badges - 5x / bill

    No limits on the rest.

Also, as some people here know, Aqua cards will be handed out to visitors as they leave the closing ceremony. So there's no scumming involved with getting more than one set.

Note: Because of this, I'm going to be very selective on who's orders I can take after Kyokko. I will update immediately, because for those orders I can take, I need enough money to pay for the merchandise immediately.

  8. Any vague ideas on what the next patch will contain and when it'll release(eg before the US release of the game maybe?) Debating whether I want to wait to wait another patch before I play another route.

All IK fixes, and more supports.

It looks like I might have to import after all.

I haven't ever done 3DS homebrew so I'm sort of anxious about this.

With an NA 3DS in firmware 10.28, what can I do to get this to work? Which type of hax should I be using with that version of 3DS, or should I try to downgrade for 9.2 and use rxTools?

I think I understand the process of dumping and patching the game, but I'm not too sure which homebrew solution to actually use and how to get it to work, it seems like a lot don't work with 10.28 or require Cubic Ninja or Iron Fall.

So does the CIA you end up with run off the SD card after you install it, and then you don't need to have cartridge in to play it?

Even if I get Nohr and Hoshido working from the catridges, what about Invisible Kingdom then?

Sorry if this is a lot, I read through all the instructions and other sites and theres so much I am uncertain of.

In firmware 10.28, you can use homebrew HANS to patch the rom (temporarily). Any *hax should work as long as you have HANS available (why would it not be).

HANS doesn't support DLC patching though (that requires a modified .cia), so if you want to play Invisible Kingdom or any of the DLC, you'll need to downgrade to 9.2, then use a cfw, or gateway, install something like BBB or FBI, and install a modified .cia from that point.

The .cia is installed on the memory card on your 3DS. You can delete the .cia afterwards (iirc), you won't need the cartridge. Invisible Kingdom and all the DLC will of course work (it's contained within the .cia), but like I mentioned, playing the translated files is a different story.

  9. One easy way to do it is to simply decrypt the US ROM of the special edition and to build a ROM using the JP assets with the extracted US script (basically, kind of like how you currently build a JP ROM with a modified script). It's a pretty darn simple method, but it would require names and messed up lines (memes, changed supports, etc) to be corrected, along with translating any cut content (Amie, etc).

Anyway, I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing the supports translated, along with any general typo/translation fixes (especially for IK).

Yes, it's very easy and whatnot, but it's straight up piracy to distribute a rom. Most likely, we'll release a patcher that'll modify a rom that you provide to it, which will restore Amie, as well as revert the names.

Thanks for your answer. I can get a brand new version of Nohr or Hoshido for like 30 bucks while the SE is going for quadruple.

You can find SE editions in Japan for around $80, actually. I saw one in Ikebukuro a week ago.

  10. Expect the flood of people notice and get this patch once they got 90-100% news.

Okay. Following the current news, the patches will be as follows:

    - If the devs really just removed the option, then we'll try our best to make a patch that brings the option back.

    - Aside from the originally planned patches (ours and a name reversal for the USA), we'll release another patch for the Japanese edition that has the name-reversal patch. Meaning, the North American files with the Japanese names, for the NA edition. In essence, it would be basically playing the North American edition on the Japanese cart.)

One way or another, we will find a way to restore Amie into Fire Emblem If/Fates.

Will dlc be getting translated? Like the Invisible History dlc and the Anna dlc?

If you had literally looked back one page, we've already stated.... Invisible Kingdom is already done, and the DLC is nearly done.

    PLS HELP

Also a page back or so, it's stated that the patch works on any edition of the game. If you REALLY wanted to import a (used) edition, I could try finding another one here in Tokyo. The last one I found was bought the day I meant to go buy it for someone else...

  11. I've been wanting to try this game so I do hope we see a stateside release. It's a shame most people just see the all the anime and go "nope". I think it looks a bit more interesting than that.

It's definitely a lot better. Genei Ibunroku's battle system is one of the best I've ever played in a jrpg, the music is great, even if maybe the story and characters you might find meh overall.

...I could go on for hours about the battle system (if you don't mind spoilers, click here to watch a very good representation of the battle system).

I would recommend it overall. But that's just my subjective opinion :p

  12. Persona 3 The Movie 4 Roundup:

List of items successfully purchased or obtained:

2x 3D Poster (TWR, Sokloeum, me)

2x Gold Metallic Card (1x to buyer, 1x to me)

1x Junpei Iori signed (Chuy has buying priority, otherwise will sell)

1x Makoto Yuki signed (keeping for myself)

    1x Teacup! (for myself)

3x bromides via popcorn (The swimsuit one with Yukari in front, swimming with Akihiko, and stalker robot Aigis. Keeping for myself)

1x sticker via special drink (Appears to be post-card sized, has Makoto Yuki, Yukari, and Junpei. Will sell if anyone wants, uploading picture...later)

    2x Straps (for me)

    2x Random Charms (Chuy)

1x Clear File Set B (Chuy)

    and the big one:

    2x Aigis folder

    2x Akihiko folder

    3x Fuuka folder

    2x Junpei folder

    2x Ken folder

    2x Ryoji

2x Mitsuru (the most popular one apparently)

    1x Makoto Yuki

    2x Yukari

    Folder allocation:

    The current allocation (uncomplete) is:

    Chuy: 1x Junpei, 1x Akihiko, 1x Mitsuru

    Sokloeum: 1x Mitsuru, 2x Yukari, 2x Fuuka, 2x Aigis, +4 more

    Me: +2

    The remainder: 1x Akihiko, 1x Fuuka, 1x Junpei, 2x Ken, 1x Makoto

Chuy and Sokloeum, as well as Aquantis, you may buy any of the remainder folders from me. I technically own 2 of them, but I would like to ask what you would like first. I'm assuming Sokloeum would want the 1x Fuuka, while Chuy would like the 1x Akihiko and 1x Junpei too. (I'm totally cool with having no folders btw)

Otherwise, today was a good success. Sorry to Aquantis and Chuy, the cells were sold out, as well as the badges.

Sokloeum, I could also try to obtain a Yukari signed card, but it could cost quite a high amount of money. Money that's not worth it.

  13. Story time~

    1. Cancelled orders: Chuy, I have already refunded you what I wasn't able to get. Your order will be shipped out very soon. Thanks for your business!

    2. Aquantis: All the cells were sold out while I was still in school. Sorry! Don't need to send anything, luckily.

    3. Folders: Fun story. They were random, but Sokloeum purchased 3 more, and everyone was able to get all the folders they wanted, except for 1 Mitsuru. 30 minutes later, I went to go buy myself some 2 folders. Second one was a Mitsuru! So with the exception of unavoidables, all orders were otherwise fulfilled. Shipping soon.

Papers I don't know yet, about to enter theater.
