  1. Plenty of long time FE fans complain about this, but there are still tons of people out there who unfortunately either don't care or just eat it right up. We may not like it, but that doesn't change that this fanservice thing is working for them.
  2. Well, I've never been an expert in human anatomy, and especially not female anatomy so...er, yeah. I was just going off of rough estimates based off of my extremely limited knowlege. Maybe Midoriko is old enough...I probably wouldn't know, I shouldn't pretend that I do.
  3. About the Sakura/Elise argument...Sakura definitely looks a little older then Elise to me. I can't put an exact number onto either of them, though. Different people grow at slightly different speeds, and age can be an unreliable way of telling how mature someone really is. My high school band got fused with the advanced middle school band because of budget cuts or whatever, so during the school year, I get to see 7th and 8th graders early. There are 7th graders who could pass off as 5th graders and 8th graders who could pass off as 10th 1graders. Anyway, in build, Sakura looks a bit more like some of the more mature middle schoolers I know, while Elise looks a bit like some of the younger ones. I even know middle schoolers who look as young as Midoriko. But they're all just anime characters, so even can still be pretty deceptive. Just because someone is 12 doesn't mean that they're as physically or as mentally mature as the average 12-year-old. It's the anatomy that matters. However, since I'm no expert in impregnation, I can't tell you if any of those three girls are physically mature enough to be impregnated. But saying "Midoriko looks like the least physically-matured 12-year-old girl I know" doesn't necessarily mean she could be pregnant in a somewhat believable realistic-ish world. tl;dr: Midoriko probably shouldn't be able to have babies. I'm unsure about Elise, though.
  4. Ah, I should of guessed. The "Dark" in that classes's name was added their for no reason yet again. This is why I hate gender-locked classes. The fact that Nosferatu got nerfed only makes it stupider that Dark Knights can't use dark magic.
  5. But then we'd have one more male-only DLC class then female. Either they'd have to make Vanguard unisex, or they'd have to make a third class that's female only(just as long as they don't bring back Bride).
  6. It was actually a rhetorical question, and this was the exact point I was trying to make. The fact that these explanations are incredibly stupid doesn't change that they're canon, no matter how often people protest. That's why I hate them so much. Oh don't worry, they came up with a brilliant, creative, and totally original way of justifying things; parallel dimensions. Ever run out of uses on your Book of Naga or Ragnell? Don't worry, I'm sure the Deadlords have a spare! Just hop through the magic portal and swipe one from them!
  7. Alright, this has probably been asked before, but I don't want to have to dig through this thread, so... Can Dark Knights actually use Dark Magic this time? I mean, they can only promote from Dark Mages this time, so they don't really have any excuses not to. I don't know about stats, but I believe skills are now more balanced. The marriage seal allows someone to reclass to their spouse's class, which gives them as many skill options as their children.
  8. What defines something as canon? Can having an incredibly flawed, stupid explanation alone really make something not canon? ...Ugh, I'm kind of hoping the localization team just says "time travel" again. It's flawed, but at least it's not as flawed.
  9. I keep seeing people say they aren't canon......What makes them non-canon, exactly? The fact that they're optional? I don't see anyone arguing that Mozume isn't canon. I always assumed that the DLC in Awakening was non-canon, because the idea of it being canon was just so silly to me...
  10. Smogon doesn't run around banning whatever they feel like for the lolz, you know. There's debates, test, and then a voting processes. It's just that Pokemon does a terrible, terrible job at balancing. They're actually a good model to follow, since their bans are mostly decided by the community, believe it or not. You know, that simulator they uses does have a anything goes mode. You can run in with a Mega Rayquaza and just destroy anything. But most people on Showdown play OU anyway. Why? They play by Smogon's rules voluntarily. The reason everyone uses the simulator, and not the cart, is because Pokemon are ridiculously tedious to breed, and it makes finding matchups simple. I probably would of never become as good at competitive Pokemon as I am today if it weren't for Showdown allowing me to instantly make drastic changes to my team. Fan-made metas are still metas, just as long as enough people agree to play by them.
  11. Well unlike Skyrim, Fire Emblem is actually more important then reality. I'm just kidding stay in school kids.
  12. Why are Smogon metagames not "valid"? Because they aren't official? They have large followings and some very clear trends. Oh duh. Why didn't I think of this? It'll be tedious, I guess, but nothing is even half as tedious as Pokemon breeding. This is the "compare Fire Emblem to Pokemon" thread now.
  13. Because I'm a jobless high school student with no reliable allowance, and even saving a measly 15$ can be extremely precious to me. The maps in Hoshido aren't supposed to be as gimmicky or varied, so if I sit that one out, the only thing I'd really feel like I'd be missing out on is the perspective and the story.
  14. What happens when you bring staves and consumables into the multiplayer mode? If you break one, will it break for good?
  15. Ah, I guess I can get where you're coming from. Smogon never cared about accessibility, though. 31/0/31/31/31/31 Chanseys with Wish are pretty much nonexistent without hacking, and yet they're still 100% legal. But I suppose the reason Smogon doesn't care about accessibility is because of battle simulators, and I suppose that we don't exactly have to mimic Smogon in every regard. What matters is how much we care about accessibility. I suppose I'll put up with those skill restrictions in the early metagame so long as we get a metagame without said restrictions somewhere down the road. I'll back off for now. Assuming the majority agrees with those restrictions, of course. That's what really matters.
  16. This is almost making me think about skipping the Hoshido route altogether. ...Ah, who am I kidding? I know myself. I'll probably try to get the special edition version, assuming we Westerners get our own version of it.
  17. Not counting the "My Castle" stages, there are 5 stages we can play online. Should we implement a stage striking system? If each player bans two stages before each battle, only one stage will be left unbanned. Or should it be randomized or something? Bought units can't support with other characters, so they'd be at a disadvantage anyway. Why should we illegalize them? Also, why is it so important that we can't buy skills? I don't see much of a point to that rule. If it's about accessibility, I don't think that'll be a problem, since you can connect to other player's castles online(or so I've heard). Unnecessary rules are no better unnecessary bans.
  18. I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. I don't like banning things, but I also don't like forcing people to pay extra to participate fairly. I don't like this idea. Not only would it limit creative options, it'd also make certain characters clearly better then others thanks to superior, individual class sets. Let's not forget second generation characters, who's secondary class can be manipulated based on their mother(or father, in Shigure/M!Kanna's case). This is extremely important. We need to all remember this.
  19. So I hear you can choose between White Tribe or Dark Blood on the third route. Let's say I become a Dark Blood 'cause I think it's cooler, but later decide I want to pick up White Tribe's skills. Can I use a parallel seal to change to one?
  20. Fire Emblem has always been about Risk vs Reward. Luck is an important part of the system; if we ban sol/luna combos, should we ban Killer weapons to? What about evasive classes, like the Swordsmaster or Elite Ninja? It's tempting to ban Copycat, Lethality, and Breaking Sky right off the bat, but we just can't go banning things willy-nilly. If we do this, we're going to need a solid banning process. We can't just say "Galeforce was OP in Awakening, so let's ban it now!" We need to test these things first. We can't say somethings truly broken if it has yet to have solid evidence. I believe that skills should only be banned if they're far too detrimental to variety. If we hold a tournament, for instance, and almost all of the top half has Copycat and Puppet Breaker on nearly every character, then something needs to be done about that first skill. But, however, if only one or two characters have Breaking Sky per team, then maybe we could let that skill slide. After all, every metagame has characters or skills it trends towards, and FE's will be no different.
  21. This. If IS starts considering it's worldwide audience first, and not just Japan, then we won't have to be having arguments like this, and IS wouldn't of put so much effort into controversial game features like FE Amie.
  22. Why should they? I don't see anything that makes it extremely offensive. Odd yes, but offensive?
  23. I think it's that each individual character can only have one clone.
  24. But how would that affect the online multiplayer? The only way I see this working is if they started adding balance patches or whatever.
  25. This is good. Too bad the legendary Missiletainn isn't in this game, though. It'd work so well with Odin as a Dark Knight.
