  1. What is the best way to farm for materials like Coral or Pearls?

I was hoping to forge +7 steel weapons for PVP in the future. Do I have to spam my castle visits, or is there an easier way?

My Castle visits are by far the fastest option. If you're lucky you can get 4 gems from their Mine, then win all the bouts in the L3 arena to get another 7. Keaton's Personal Skill also generates gems passively, so make sure you always end his turn with an action or a "wait" so you don't miss the opportunity to find a gem.

I have another question. Just want to make sure:

If I Second Seal my Corrin from Nohr Princess to Samurai (the Talent I'm choosing for her), I'll still be able to Master Seal her into Nohr Noble after I reach Level 20 as a Samurai, right? Or will Swordmaster be my only option?

The Master Seal will only let Corrin promote into Swordmaster or Master of Arms. However, you can just use another Heart Seal to change to Nohr Noble.

  2. So how does Lunatic's fixed growths work? Is it like in PoR or something else? Does it pretty much mean I wont be able to max out my characters stats?

Basically, the game caculates the character's stat growths (with a great degree of randomness) for almost every level before the level-up happens, so they cannot be save scummed.

It definitely doesn't mean you can't min/max stats. You have infinite levels with Eternal Seals, so you'll eventually reach maximum regardless of what the formula is.

  3. Thank you so very much, this is exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate it.

So, (and I apologize for redundancy) that means if I want the Samurai class I need to restart and select it as a talent? I'm outta luck having set my talent to Mage?

    Thanks again.

Yes. Corrin can not be a Samurai in Nohr unless it's their Talent.

(Dark) Mage, on the other hand, can be snagged from Nyx or Odin fairly early on.

  4. In Nohr, you cannot make any Corrin a Diviner, Spear Fighter, Samurai, or Oni Savage without setting it as your talent.

In Hoshido, you cannot make any Corrin a (Dark) Mage, Fighter, Knight or Mercenary without setting it as your Talent.

In Hoshido, Corrin can only obtain Wyvern Rider or Oni Savage from a female unit, so a male Corrin can't obtain them unless he marries her.

In Nohr, Corrin can only obtain Archer and Apothecary from a female unit, so a male Corrin can't obtain them unless he marries her.

In Nohr, Corrin can only obtain Ninja or Monk from a male unit, so a female Corrin can't obtain it unless she marries him.

  5. Sorry if it has been asked:

With items having no durability, are weapons sufficiently more rare?

Bronze/Brass/Iron/Steel/Silver weapons are all infinitely purchasable by the end of the game, as your shop upgrades. Other weapon types are uncommon and either have very limited stock at the shop or are recovered from chests/enemies.

So yes. Weapons like Brave Swords, Beastkillers and Armourslayers have to be cleverly divided among the party, and all weapons are expensive.

Forging also requires multiple copies of a weapon to do. To enhance a weapon to a certain forge level, you need 2^(forge level weapons) and a number of gems. So inventory management is actually important most of the time. By the end of the game, though, the pressure is off as you'll accumulate such an inventory that you won't have any problem outifitting everyone with useful weapons, unless you really messed up.

  6. Niles is still pretty suggestive and many characters moan in a satisfied way after kissing you, but there's generally less "lewd" lines. Most characters either tell you how much they love you or lean more onto comedy.

  7. How hard is it to acquire enough Setsuna's Loose Bows to make a max-level one? I need one for Pestilence's poison-tipped arrows.

A max level anything takes 128 copies of the weapon, and Setsuna's Yumi is fairly uncommon, so pretty hard.

I dont know if this has been asked but this thread is too long for me to backtrack.

I know you can only do the my castle thing once after a chaptet but can you do one after dlc chapters? Like if i am grinding in the dlc maps and head back to my castle can i get to talk to them again?

    This goes for all paths.

My Castle activities such as inviting people to your room, feeding Lilith, playing the lottery, fighting in the Arena and obtaining resources actually have a chance of refreshing after every battle, not just story chapters. They also refresh after just leaving the game off for a few hours.

  8. Scenario: I'm about to Buddy Seal Rhajat with Selkie, who has Hinoka as her mother, meaning her classes are Kitsune, Diviner and Sky Knight. Since Selkie passes Diviner to her buddies, and Rhajat already has it, does that mean that she would pass Sky Knight? Just a quick question.

Rhajat gets Herb Merchant. It's a weird case where Herb Merchant replaces Kitsune. The same happens when Orochi or Hayato takes Kaden's class.

    For reference:

    - Arthur and Charlotte get Outlaw from Keaton

    - Hinoka and Subaki get Troubadour from Azura

    - Takumi gets Herb Merchant from Mozu

  9. What happen if i give a Blade named "Sun" to Soleil and she has the skill Sol?

Sun use Sun activating the skill Sun...

Soleil, with Sun God, using the Sunrise Katana, activating Sol, during the daytime...

if a character dies during the first 6 chapters or on ch6 are they dead for the rest of the game? (on classic)

The Royal Siblings during chapter 6 will just retreat when they die.

Azura and Kaze will just retreat because they are important later on.

Gunter just retreats if he dies in chapter 3.

  10. The first thing you should do if you want to understand the game is ignore everything people here are saying about "practicality" and "optimization" and go in doing whatever you want. Those things are valuable in a way and I love to talk about them, but they aren't vital to enjoying the game and you won't understand why anything is practical or optimal unless you try everything yourself.

So this is my recommendation. Play Birthright first, put it on Normal Classic. Use Heart Seals on your units whenever you want to try out units in a bunch of classes. Generally wait till level 20 to use Master Seals, because you want those extra 10 level ups, but don't be afraid to use one earlier if someone is REALLY falling behind the rest of your party.

Reclass whoever you want into whatever you want with Heart Seals, Partner Seals, and Friendship Seals. The only general rules are that most magic units won't do to well in a physical class or vice versa, because the relevant stats will be too low. If the unit you are reclassing is a high level, you also might want to try to reclass to class that uses the same weapon as the class you are in, because you don't want to be stuck using E-Rank weapons all game.

When you pairup units, try to match stats. When you pairup two units, you can see what stats the pair up will boost. If you have fast, fragile attacker who boosts speed and a strong, slightly slower attacker who boosts strength or defense, pair them up. A good example is Kaze and Rinkah.

Generally, magic units boost magic, so you'll want to pair them together as well.

Pair up is important for defense and sometimes offense, but it's useless for someone who isn't going to fight anyway, so don't bother pairing up healers or singers.

  11. Replies in bold.

...and with a tonic it's back up to 11.4, and a plus speed pair up can take it to 14.4. Bringing up average stats doesn't accomplish much without corresponding enemy stats.

What I was getting at was this:

    1) the two classes function almost identically while unpremoted, with a very slight advantage to Diviner

    2) you can obtain the other class very early from a unit who is pretty much your ideal pair-up

    3) It's not worth it to waste your Talent on a class that you can already obtain before you promote

In my first run of Conquest, going in blind, I made my talent Knight because I wanted to be a General. Lo and behold, by chapter 12 I already had an A-Rank with Effie and hadn't even promoted yet. It's not a resource hog or an inconvenience to use a Seal, either.

As for promoted classes, Dark Knight lets you use Yato and take better advantage of Corrin's bulk. It's basically a chunky Nohr Noble with better MOV and less SPD. It's my choice of the four. Onmyoji and Sorcerer are too frail, and Basara, when compared to Dark Knight, gives you a less useful E-Rank in Lances and less MOV.

  12. It's not that simple. You don't need access to every class on every route, and taking the time to raise Corrin's support rank with a character you wouldn't normally use is cumbersome. If the two classes really do perform similarly unpromoted (which I don't agree with entirely, for the speed difference might be significant), then there's no reason to pick Diviner at all since Dark Knight is the superior promoted class. It's much more efficient to promote into Dark Knight than it is to Friendship Seal into it.

When in pair-up, you'll naturally want to pair up with someone who boosts magic, so you'll likely be pairing up with Odin or Nyx regardless. Building an A rank with a unit who joins early on is not difficult at all and there isn't anything cumbersome about pairing a mage with your mage, especially if that mage gives +3 MAG and +3 SPD like Orochi amd Hayato do.

This is also the only situation where you'll have both S-Rank tomes and Tomefaire (although the former is admittedly underwhelming considering you don't even get an S-Rank tome in every route and weapon EXP grows incredibly slowly in Fates) and gives Corrin and their spouse useful (but otherwise unobtainable in that route) skills like Rend Heaven and Lifetaker. Also note the Dark Mage's terrible skill stat, which has synergy with Diviner's Flamboyance.

The +3 SPD isn't enough to truly make a difference. As others have mentioned, a Dark Mage with a Speed Tonic has the same SPD as a Nohr Prince(ss). While a Diviner with a Speed Tonic is indeed even faster, the only enemies that are too fast to double generally either have massive RES and shouldn't be near Corrin anyway (Sky Knights, Outlaws, Ninja), or can't counterattack a mage (Samurai) and therefore the boost is more or less superfluous.

As far as "efficiency" is concerned, you forfeit it as soon as you start a playthrough as a magic-based Corrin. The 2000 G you spend on a Friendship Seal is less of a loss than reclassing one of your most valuable units into a class with 5 less DEF and 4 less HP that is stuck using a 3-might weapon that can't activate Dragon Fang for as much as two or three chapters and can't wield their powerful personal weapon that boosts stats which they'll never use.

  13. Well, hearing that Strategists are still there is interesting, but I already heard that Basara was the same, which is why I didn't mention it in my previous post. But taking a close look at the Nohr article has a few other things worth mentioning.

    1. Niles' personal skill is also named Capture.

    2. 2 of the skills Laslow had, which Soleil could get, are Good Fortune and Strong Riposte. Good Fortune is Stubbornness, but no way to identify Strong Riposte.

    3. Selena's personal skill is Fierce Rival.

    4. The male equivalent of Demoiselle is Gentilhomme.

    5. Forrest's Foul Play is renamed Fierce Counter.

We already know that Niles' Nohrian Restraint is named Kidnap now. It's just that the command in battle is Capture.

Strong Riposte is almost certainly Patient Assurance. I hope the author eventually realizes that those are just the basic Mercenary skills and that she starts with them regardless of inheritance.

  14. DM is impossible to get in Hoshido, so you should make it MagiCorrin's Talent in Birthright. Diviner is impossible to get in Nohr, so you should make it MagiCorrin's Talent in Conquest. It's that simple - the two classes perform very similarly while unpremomted and the promotion doesn't matter because you can pair up with Odin/Nyx or Hayato/Orochi to get the other class tree before you even reach a point where the promotion is a concern.

For Male Corrin in Revelation, you should probably choose Dark Mage just because Odin and Leo join very late and Hayato joins fairly early on.

  15. I've seen some gameplay where certain characters are at levels such as 70, 55, 40, etc.

Is there an exact level cap for certain characters or classes? Also, what determines how high a certain character or class can get?

This question has been answered several times in the "I just want to know one thing!" thread, but basically it works like this:

Promoted classes cap at level 20. Special classes that can't promote, like Songstress and Dread Fighter, cap at level 40.

When you reach max level, you can use a special seal (Eternal Seal in the Japanese version) to increase the level cap by 5. You can keep using these to level up infinitely, although the displayed number never goes past 99.

Jakob and Felicia are special because their natural level cap is 40 instead of 20. This is likely to make up for the fact that they join pre-promoted but have stats appropriate for unpromoted units.

  16. To be a little more straightforward, every unit has one or two "Secondary" classes that they can switch to at any time with a Heart Seal. Corrin can choose his Secondary Class during character creation.

Also, after promotion, a unit can use a Heart Seal to switch between the promotion options. For example, Silas is a Cavalier whose Secondary Class is Mercenary. Before he promotes, he can use the Heart Seal to switch between the Cavalier and Mercenary classes. After promotion, he can use the Heart Seal to switch between Paladin, Great Knight, Hero and Bow Knight.

Unlike Second Seals in Awakening, Heart Seals can be used at any level, and they don't change the level of your unit. You also can't use it to switch between a promoted class and an unpremoted class or vice versa.

  17. I've beat the game several times already, so I am perhaps the most spoiled for the gameplay that one could possibly be.

However, I haven't read all the supports and I haven't fully watched any of the English streams everyone is watching, so in that sense, I'm not too spoiled for the localized dialogue.

  18. Generic captured units can't reclass, either.

Yes they can. Generic units don't have a Secondary Class, so they can't use Parallel/Heart Seals while unpromoted. However, unpromoted Generics can use a Master Seal to promote and promoted generics can use a Heart Seal to switch which promoted class they are in.

Moreover, all generics aside from Dragee can use DLC items to reclass to Lodestar, Great Lord, Vanguard, Grandmaster, Dark Flier, Dread Fighter, Witch and Balistician (assuming they are of the permitting sex).

  19. Im amazed at how shitty they are at naming things. Hoshidan noble? Onmyoji instead of exorcist?

The thing is that Hoshidan class names like "Exorcist", "Priestess", "Spellcaster" and "Golden Kite Warrior" were just loose translations that fans gave to Japanese mythical/historical concepts like Onmyoji, Miko, Majinaisi and Kinshimusha. The name was literally never Exorcist, fans just called it that because it was the closest thing we have to an Onmyoji in English.
