  1. So Kaze and Azura join you in Nohr later on, and I was wondering if their stats and weapon ranks carry over in later chapters, or should I feed all of the EXP to Corrin?

Kaze will hop up to level 9, but Azura will keep her EXP. The thing is, Chapter 5, the only chapter where Azura and Corrin coexist before the paths diverge, has Corrin stuck in a state where he gains severely reduced EXP, so you don't waste anything by letting the other units get the kills that chapter.

On the other hand, Azura joins at level 1 with 16 HP and 5 STR so she's not going to get many kills in Chapter 5, and you don't have time to turtle and feed her kills because your only defensive units are Rinkah (who has poor RES and WTD) and Corrin (who is weak to all the mages and Wyrmslayers in the chapter), so the only feasible way to level Azura is to spam the Sing command, which doesn't take EXP away from anyone else.

TL;DR, in Chapter 4, feed all the EXP to Corrin. In Chapter 5, it doesn't matter at all what you do because Corrin barely gains EXP and Azura is a support unit who doesn't need to kill enemies to level up in the first place.

Darn, I'm sure it has been answered somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment:

Let's say Corrin marries Benny, Kana (m) marries Velour, what would Velour get for her marriage seal? Knight or Corrin's second class?

Velour gets Corrin's Secondary Class and Kana gets Fighter.

  2. In a Birthright physical copy and the digital version, the intro movie on the title screen is just the Birthright version.

However, the intro movie doesn't just play on the title screen; the video plays after chapter 6 when the story diverges. So even if you have the Birthright physical copy, if you download Conquest, the Conquest intro video will play in-game when you choose the Conquest route, as a cutscene after chapter 6.

  3. My problem with petting is that it got a little tedious. I'd see the icon and be like "crud, I want that one tiny support point, but I don't want to waste 30 seconds rubbing circles on Felicia's face after every chapter".

Since rubbing your spouse is only good for accessories and dialogue, I don't necessarily feel pressured to do it every time. If they kept spousal petting, that's actually pretty great. They took out the creepy-ness and the teduim and left in the meat.

Then the only content NA really loses is petting Kanna, which is funny, because pinching the cheeks and messing up the hair of your son or daughter is maybe the only normal real-world analogue to skinship.

  4. I've tried doing Samurai Odin as well, and it just isn't practical. With a Bronze Sword, his base STR and his average SPD and DEF, he isn't doing anything useful at all in chapters 9-10. This is especially true in that the tight hallways of chapter 9 and the rivers/walls of chapter 10 mean that ranged units and defensive units are quite useful, so when you are using ranged units like (Nyx, Niles, Jakob, Felicia) and better melee units with better defenses and better weapon ranks (Corrin, Effie, Silas, Arthur) Samurai!Odin really can't contribute unless you feed him kills, which you don't have time to do in chapters 10 or 11.

He also has to compete with Corrin, Silas, Selena, Laslow and Peri for any effective swords you find and they will surely all have better weapon ranks, stats and utility when the weapon is acquired.

Odin is perhaps the least fortunate unit in both Nohr and Revelations (although for different reasons), and if you want to use him, I recommend giving him an early class change that will boost his base stats (like Dark Flier, Grandmaster or Dread Fighter) instead of reclassing him to Samurai and giving him even more of a handicap.

  5. We have an excuse for most of the decidedely un-Japanese names. Kaden and Selkie are from a solitary tribe with its own naming conventions, Rajaht never had a Japanese name in the first place, and Caeldori's parents were likely possessed by the same horrible anagram demon that controlled them in the Japanese version.

  6. You miss out on two characters, Corrin gets a class that he could get anyway from their A support, and Niles isn't some outstanding unit that really wants a certain class to wreck face. Marrying Niles as a male Corrin is, as far as gameplay bonuses are concerned, the absolute worst option.

That said, if you don't use the kids, it's not much different from any other pairing. It's not like obtaining two characters you never use will benefit you, and there are plenty of other first-gen units who really don't need to marry Corrin to succeed. Personally, however, as much as it pains me to say it, expressing my queer identity in a Fire Emblem game is less important to me than ontaining all the characters and using the ones I want. I shouldn't have to choose, but hey, that's just how it is.

  7. When you walk around in My Castle, you have the normal map sprite, so you are on your horse. When you press L and zoom in to 3D view, you are standing unmounted.

Note this: Corrin uses the generic model for every class. So if you see what another unit looks like in X class, just imagine that with your Corrin's head and that's exactly what you'll get.

For example, Corrin will look just like how Saizo and Shigure do in these classes:

  8. We can already see on the translated support menu that Corrin can S-Rank Sakura. They'd have to make it so that you can't get Kanna in that pairing, and the definitely won't. This is also very relevant:

Corrin is not blood related to ANY of their siblings. This is explained in Revelation and in any S-Support with a Hoshidan royal. The localization will likely just try and reveal this fact sooner.

We calculated long ago that there are hundreds of combinations where two second-gen cousins or neice/nephew pairs can marry. This would be more complicated to censor, so they'll either have to ignore it or change the content of nearly every second-gen support.

  9. 1st Gen starts with 2 classes + potential Spouse's + potential Buddy's = 4. 2nd Gen starts with 3 classes + their potential Spouse's + potenial Buddy's = 5 + the inheritable skills that could be from classes the kids can't access this playthrough.

"Start with" is the key word here. When the kid joins, they are unmarried and have no supports built up aside from the automatic parental C-Rank, so they have three class sets. The dad, on the other hand, is married, so he has at least three class sets. Thus, the kid needs time to do anything the father couldn't have done.

I'm not sure why you mention Woman's Nature, since it looks much more useful on paper than in actual practice, given that female enemies are likely in the minority...

The situational value of easily killing certain bosses and OHKOing Sky Knights in chapters ehere they swarm you is more valuable than most personal skills. In PVP, the ratio of male to female units becomes much more even, too.

Is Normal Nohr harder than Hard Hoshido? Also, would someone who had a hard time with older FE games before Awakening have a hard time with Hard Hoshido?

While the enemies in Nohr Normal are generally less tough, there are a few maps where you need to either defend a space, hurry up, or deal with some crazy map gimmick and these can be a little tricky for inexperienced players (like all those game journalists who got their asses whooped by chapter 10).

Hard Hoshido, once you get used to the frailty of tour team and realize what your units can take, isn't too hard at all.

  10. So In if/Fates is Lance|Spear Fighter is the Hoshidan equivalent class of Soldier|Lancer class while Holy Lancer is just a renamed Sentinel class for the Hoshidan Class.?

The Spear Fighter and Holy Lancer are basically the Halberdier and Sentinel from FE10, with nearly identical stat caps and the critical bonus.

Lancer is just the normal enemy Soldier class from the SNES and GBA games. It's not really equivalent to Spear Fighter in any meaningful way, even if they share a weapon type.

  11. Why are child units not considered to be as strong in this game, if their max stats are calculated the same way as in Awakening?

Their max stats and optimization potential are just as good as in Awakening. However, their base stats will rarely be better than their parents and their weapon EXP will often be lower, so in-game you'll find that a recently recruited child unit isn't any better than either of their parents.

Moreover, in Awakening, first-gen units had very limited class options, while second-gen units had twice as many. In Fates, the child starts with no more class options than their dad does (child has two natural class sets and one inherited from their mother; father has two natural class sets, one from their wife, and potentially one from their A+ partner).

The first-gen units in Awakening often had limited options while their children were diverse and allowed players to get creative. In Fates, Heart/Buddy Seals allow one to get creative with almost any unit.

Personal skills and unique weapons also have to be considered. Woman's Nature and Raijinto are two examples of powerful tools that are simply locked to first-gen units.

  12. So, no matter which game you get, you can get character for every class? I'm confused, then whats the point in listing them separately? Or is it like, endgame access?

Hoshidan classes and Nohrian classes have different promotion / reclass music. In general, characters from Hoshido can only naturally (that is to say, before items and supports) access Hoshidan classes and Nohrian characters can only naturally access Nohrian classes. Put simply, they are separated because Hoshidan classes come from Hoshidans and Nohrian classes come from Nohrians.

Thing is, Nohrians like Felicia and Silas join you in Birthright, and Hoshidans like Kaze and Mozu join you in Conquest, so you always have access to classes from both sides. Couple this with the fact that some characters naturally have classes from both sides (like Laslow and Asyura), that Corrin can choose almost any class as their Secondary, and that you can capture enemy units, and you'll see that there is actually very little limitation on accessible classes, even early-mid game.

In Birthright, the only classes you can't access on a normal unit are Dark Blood, Wolfskin and Dark Mage, and the latter can be assigned to Corrin or be captured infinitely.

In Conquest, the only classes you can't acccess on a normal unit are White Blood, Kitsune, Oni Savage, Spear Fighter and Diviner, and the last three can all be assigned to Corrin or be captured infinitely.

  13. Peri's skinship model. She's leaning on her sword, but since the lower body has no animations, moving the camera down a little will show her sword awkwardly bobbing up and down with her body when she talks, as if she was stabbing it into the ground over and over. It looks terrible

  14. Stuff in the parenthesis was my own research, so it could be wrong.

    I guess it's pronounced "Kah-den"? Just not sure if "Kah-den" or "Kah-den."

There's no stress in Japanese; you pronounce syllables distinctly, like Ka-Den.

Y'know I think VA for Silas is Yuri Lowenthal aka the voice for my other Boyfriends.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Kaden could be Yuri Lowenthal instead.

I thought I even heard some Yuri in Niles as well. He usually does do 2-3 characters because of his "range".
