I also recommend no more than two of the same color.

Your units stop gaining experience when they are 3 levels over their enemy.

You can have 2 of the same color Max with 1 of the same weapon max. Have a mix of infantry, cavalry, flyers and knights

You can send your unwanted units home (don't send away 5 stars that's dumb). These are usually 3 star units you're not planning to upgrade. Edit: Do you need either or both materials to upgrade?

Can we apply the smogon logic in placing tiers? Within the same rarity, which units overshadow the others in PvP?

Don't aim for a 5 star Azura at this point until she's the focus. You're gonna have to settle for a 4 star one.

Skill set can more than make up for weaker stats. From what I've seen 5 star units are over represented this early in the game.

The unique characters can be enhanced and their unique weapons and skills can be unlocked. Sure they are weaker but have your noticed that the game feels to easy at the start once your have a 5 star character?

Based on the information so far, you are 70% more likely to get a 5 star focus character than a 4 star character. (.83% vs .48%)

I think the one who will get a certain legendary weapon will be the most popular unit who can use it or the most associated ones. (IE. Garm for Ross [wishful thinking], Gradivus for Hardin, Rexcalibur for Soren)

If you're going with various manga and anime tropes, the main protagonist is usually associated with the fire element and is usually wielding a sword. (IE. The Red Ranger in various sentai)
