  1. You forgot to muster a rebuttal for the fact that Forseti is available for roughly one chapter in Gen 1 where it isn't even needed. Sigurd and his entourage have no incentive at all to slow down and wait for Lewyn to do his stuff. If you can't reach combat in this game, you're not actually doing anything useful. In retrospect, I should have lowered Lewyn's score. I remembered him being much better in previous playthroughs, but when I booted up the game last week, I found out that there were never really any opportunities for him to fight. The only unit in this game who can really make use of Forseti is Arthur, and in Gen 2, there is definitely a high density of powerful 1-2 range units to warrant a trump card like Forseti.
  2. It baffles me that they went through the trouble of creating an entire unit whose overall utility can replaced by a village. I cannot think of any playstyle that wants a lategame armor with no killing potential. 0/10
  3. Oh, wait, Mjolnir. Nevermind. I was thinking of that one dudette with Bolganone. I want to say Seliph still handles Ishtar, but I wouldn't know without any numbers in front of me; Arthur was the one who ran up and blew her away.
  4. Was Ishtar supposed to be hard or something? I keep seeing her name brought up, but I'm not sure why; Seliph can run up and one-round her with Brave Sword like he does every other boss in the game. Please don't quote me assuming he has no rings. That discussion should already be resolved through virtue of Sigurd being his father.
  5. Fee doesn't actually have to retreat because they won't kill her unless you let the entire map attack her at once for some reason. That and Claude!Fee can use Silence instead without having to get close. 1 Mov doesn't give Altenna a viable niche over Fee.
  6. I don't think people are really freaking out over her Res. Some people just mindlessly list traits when evaluating a unit without actually analyzing their use or performance. "They have high Strength!" (We know.) "They have high Speed." (We know.) "Legendary weapon!" (We get it. How does this unit help us win the game?) In the case of Altenna, she doesn't really. Her first chapter of real use is 10, and it's a 1-2 Magic fest right from the beginning. Only a few units are going to want to deal with that shit, and she's not one of them. Claude!Fee, on the other hand, is flying around and Silencing fools, while Seliph, Arthur, and the gang clean house. Look at this screenshot and tell me when Altenna gets to play? Fee can Silence both Sleep users and pick off that lone Sniper all by herself. Altenna can't even approach until most of the enemies are dead.
  7. Yeah, I forgot. I have to base a lot of this on memory, since my last playthrough of the game was so long ago, and my current one has me smack dab on her recruitment chapter. She's still almost Athos-level late and her utility is about equal to, if not slightly worse than, the units that have been there the entire time. Getting Pursuit upon promotion doesn't really change anything.
  8. EDIT: I'm revising my score to a final 2/10 for Altenna. My original post briefly stated she was late and unimpressive, but upon further play experience, she's actually worse than unimpressive. There are so many magic-dense areas in the final two chapters that Altenna can't even engage safely without a lot of support and plenty of leeway from Canto. Gae Bolg may as well not even exist for how few its practical applications are.
  9. It sounds fun until you realize that even with Claude-dad, her base Mag is like...3 or 4. How are you getting any kills while your Mag offense crawls to parity? Oh yeah, Brave Lance. (Leif is inheriting and keeping Magic Ring forever, btw.) To Fin's credit, he might be able to snag it if Fee opts for the second Brave Sword. But honestly, we're really grasping for straws at that point.
  10. Er, psyche? Brave Lance is still contested, dude. Fee flies and can use that bitch to auto-delete whoever she wants, wherever. Fin CAN have it (if you want it wasted), but it's not a given. Plus, it is more likely that Ferry has it by the end of G1, since she is there for all of it. Finn leaves and there is NO CHANCE I am letting him leave with my Brave Lance.
  11. Ares is actually strong enough to clear out the arena with just an Iron Lance during his debut, lol. You usually want your strongest characters to have a less expensive weapon to sandbag with. Even Seliph's gold train can run dry with vigorous Brave Sword use. And clearing out arena with only your holy weapon is inadvisable because some fights don't even make back the money you spend on repairs. Sandbagging with Elwind early on makes it so that you can go crazy with Forseti when it's really needed.
  12. If I take a moment to think about it, he's basically Rutger from FE6 in that his contributions are restricted mainly to the player phase and replicated by units who can do more. His only true flaws are really his garbage 1-2 options and availability. 8.5/10 sounds about right. I was leaning toward 8, but being just a half-step down from the gods is the message I'd rather send.
  13. I don't actually know when it happened, but I am maybe one or two turns after capturing Yied in Ch.7 when I notice it and am currently on Turn 18. I'm aware that Daisy and Seliph have a convo where Seliph gets the Brave Sword and a small love boost with her, but Seliph and Daisy never had the event. It's not adding up. Is anyone aware of this glitch or anything like it?
  14. I can't justify anything lower than a full 10 for what Leif does. In my opinion, all of him, Sigurd, and Seliph are the absolute best at what they do in this game, which is killing, seizing, or helping seize. Basically, these are units that flat out win by themselves. Rescuing Seliph over to the next boss/castle while able to kill anything that tries to stop him is well beyond any other unit's utility in this game besides the ones I would also give tens. To be clear, he does have a couple of notable flaws: no innate Pursuit (mitigated by his mom being one of the best users of Pursuit Ring in Gen 1), low move to start with (promotes next chapter anyway, and proceeds to win the game). So yeah. 9-move Rescue with fantastic offense and durability. Absolutely no one else can do that. That's a perfect score in my book.
  15. Do I really need to preface an opinion with a disclaimer? I'm not an efficiency player at all, but the one thing every foot unit has working against them in this game is that the utterly massive size of the maps forces so much real time for them to actually keep up with the bulk of the main force that it is ridiculously tedious to try and raise up the likes of, say, Ayra in Gen 1. Even if I take my time playing in general, using Ayra takes up even more time. And I mean way more time, even on an emulator with the speed up function. (When you're not rushing in to win, you sill have to watch the enemy move and the player/enemy phase banners appear, and after dozens of turns of that, I'm already thinking about something else to do entirely...) I'm already a casual player myself, and I even I can see this game is ridiculously biased toward ponies.
  16. I've fired up FE4 this week for my third playthrough to date, and the non-pony syndrome is even worse than I remember. :\ You guys need to be a bit harsher on the scores for footies; even Ced isn't getting an especially high rating from me at this point (and I realized how poor his movement was on only the second playthrough....).
  17. I'm going with a full 10 for Seliph because there really isn't anyone in Gen 2 who can do what he does with such ease. This is what Sigurd essentially would have been had he started off mount-less for a negligible amount of time.
  18. The very nature of the game sort of leans against creativity unless you impose your own restrictions, as you can't will Sigurd and Seliph to stop being game-controlling gods. Nothing anyone else does matters too much. But I did clock in some hundreds of hours and two playthroughs before realizing that, for what it's worth.
  19. I was going with a 6/10 in my mind, since mobility is really hard to argue against in this game, but the one argument that got me thinking is Lewyn's fatherhood viability. Put simply, any time a Forseti user makes it to combat, problems are solved on the spot. His few combat contributions + the ability to make Arthur sort of cements his legacy as 'Forseti: The Unit', which deserves an 8/10 in my mind. I do completely agree with the consensus that his individual contributions are undermined by his movement, but we have to give him that he is far and away the best footie there is. Come now, ranking him right along with Ayra is definitely disingenuous when he's got 2-range and actually does something in both his debut and Ch. 4, whereas Ayra's never relevant.
  20. Really, dude, I'm not even sure how to reply to you when you've neglected basically every single X factor outside of raw stats. Pair-ups? Tonics? Forges? Meal bonuses? You need to learn to maximize your resources.Btw, you forgot that Ch. 9 has a Shrine Maiden in the center with Enfeeble, but I usually just capture the one at Ch. 11, since Staves really aren't all that important early on.
  21. You forgot to mention Elise being the earliest flier available, and her bases/growths for Magic and Speed being ridiculously high no matter what class she's in. Having Elise in Draco makes for an extremely easy clear of 10, allowing her to do things like visit the southeast village T1, kill Oboro on enemy phase that same turn, and help pick off the Pegasus squad to the right so that Camilla can handle the horde on the left. Also, that stuff about Staff rank being coveted is not true. High-rank staff users easily capturable earlygame and are always convinced on the first try. Free recruits with C and B-rank are thrown at you from 16 on. In fact, with healing mooks always being free, there's really no reason to leave units who are better at fighting in their heal class.
  22. I still think Felicia's potential as a unit is sorely untapped. Like, there's no way she's under Kaze and Effie with her completely amazing class sets and early game performance.
  23. Still not seeing why people elect to waste time playing Ch. 25 instead of killing Ryoma and going straight to 26. None of the resources garnered from 25 help in 26, and the last two chapters are early boss kills.
