  1. Can't hide your lack of real input with weak sarcasm and strawman tactics. I believe I mentioned 25 being a personal bane that is no longer and you sort of filled in the blanks from there. I am genuinely curious as to why we need the gold and Silence since the game is already almost over and 26 and on are complete jokes that can be beaten with minimal planning and given resources. Please elaborate.
  2. Doesn't sound like Lunatic Mode if you're seriously worried about the Ninjas. Plus, I'm pretty sure hitting Ryoma and clicking end turn is the better strat. You only have to play if your Avatar is underpowered.
  3. It's funny how Ch. 25 Conquest Lunatic, once one of the harder chapters in the game for me, became easy once I figured out that there is NO REASON to play through it instead of killing Ryoma. I've legitimately never used the Silence staff on any playthrough, and I forgot what was in the other chest. Unless it's an Energy Drop or Spirit Dust, that chapter is dead to me.
  4. Forgot to address this bit, but since the topic is bumped again, I figured now would be a good time to mention that you always have access to seals online and can buy another one for Corrin if needed. Regardless, I always give Jakob the first seal so that he can make quick work of Ch. 7 and carry the momentum from there.
  5. Nevermind my post. Unless my eyes were playing tricks on me, I swear OP was referring to Conquest at first.
  6. If I'm sizing up your responses well, OP, it seems like you are more interested in being immersed in the world of Fates as an RPG, rather than a turn-based strategy game. I'm not sure if any route will satisfy you in that respect, if Birthright didn't do it for you. Instead I'll say give Conquest a fair run if you can get the discount for it, just out of pure intrigue for the kind of strategy game Fire Emblem can really be.
  7. Getting the soundtrack in some shape or form was almost a no-brainer for me, but considering how ridiculously well Fire Emblem sells in the West now, I was holding out for some inkling of info regarding a Western release. IIRC, even the Pokemon game soundtracks get Western releases on iTunes? I wouldn't even think that to be a viable market. I also want to reiterate what's already been mentioned, in that settling for the Japanese version also locks us out of Rena Strober's singing... Unless that's somehow on the Japanese album too? Worth a shot in the dark.
  8. Fem Kana with Savage Blow, eh? Wait for my edit to confirm that she's up. @ above: Hm, I have Felicia with Lunge and Savage Blow in my logbook... Malig was one of the very first setups I tried... I'll prepare that one too. EDIT: The slate for Felicia is Lunge, Savage Blow, Luna, Shurikenfare, and Trample, while the slate for Kana is Nobility, Death Blow, Bowbreaker, Rend Heaven, and Savage Blow. I checked my defenses to verify. Come and get them.
  9. I looked at the calendar just now and realized I've been doing almost nothing in my free time but playing Fates Conquest, specifically Lunatic. My first run was Hard and every single one after that was Lunatic. When you grind the game like we have in such a short time period, you're bound to hit a wall at some point. (I'm surprised my wife doesn't hate me.)
  10. I thought you'd never ask. It's so hard to talk about FE7 these days without retreading covered ground or defending its flaws from various detractors. It's such a landmark entry, and one that nearly everyone here has played... I feel overwhelmed even beginning to type my journey with this series, and how FE7 fostered the sheer love I have for Fire Emblem and other strategy games. We all love the characters of Fire Emblem, and connect to them for various reasons, be they aesthetics, gameplay, personality quirks, or a handful of really great lines that define them. FE7's characters are in no shortage of any of these things. This is the defining game for character writing. Going on at this point would require my own thread.
  11. FE6: Sophia. I like how she makes a normally challenging game even harder by forcing me to reset when she dies. I cannot ignore her; she's my drug. FE7: Lyn's flashy animations are the reason I'm here. FE8: I just love how Amelia ignores RNG <3 FE9: Mia FE10: Ilyana was inadvertently my top scorer on Normal mode recently... Time to come out of denial and admit my bias. FE11: Barst FE12: Catria FE13: Lucina FE14 Conquest: Underexplored, can't decide. Jakob, Felicia, Elise, Ophelia, and Xander are all in the running. Camilla isn't up there because she's blatantly broken and doesn't encourage smart play or use of resources. She just runs up and kills things like it's FE7 all game, and this is without even buying skills. With skills in play, she can totally ignore large sections of the game, as arrows are usually the only deterrent to lock her out of flier-friendly maps. The only data I don't have on her is whether or not she is able to one-round Takumi at peak investment. This unit is just absurd in all respects.
  12. Glad somebody's talking about Anna. She's one of the harder characters to guage because her youthful personality contrasts her real world wisdom and supreme business sense, and she shows a surprisingly complex range of emotions compared to other characters (worry, doubt, guilt, glee, etc.) without exaggerating them. The Anna from Awakening was just a bit more reckless and single-minded than the one in Fates, and probably not even the same person. I'd place her anywhere between early 20s and early 30s. It's too tough to call.
  13. I've gotten her as early as Ch. 8 with a superpowered Paladin Jakob (fed nearly every kill from Ch. 7 and P1) and Wyvern Elise. Even under those conditions, it's not easy to distract those Berserkers with such low manpower before they kill Anna. Don't even fully remember how I managed it.
  14. Awakening and Fates are both fodder for the Start button in my eyes, so I'm not going to waste much time on story. But it took me this quote: to think about and truly realize just how much I adore Conquest's gameplay. Add to that some of the most entertaining supports in the series and there is no way I can even talk about Awakening and Conquest on a similar level.
  15. It's safe to assume that Leo's comment was a localization effort to justify Elise's ability to marry and bear children in this game to Western audiences, with the added caveat that Nohr is based on medieval Europe. Given that people are still referencing and quoting said line in all discussions regarding character ages, it appears the line has served its purpose. With Japan's AoC of 14 (IIRC), and the implied medieval setting of Nohr, I'd put money on 13 or 14 for Elise. My problem is with the inconsistent ages of the second generation, many of whom actually look, act, and sound younger than Elise (Kana, Percy, Midori). I don't understand the thought process behind those designs.
  16. Since we're going the 'least favorite' route, I'm going to mention units that I've actually dumped a sizable amount of time and resources in, only to have them fail me. FE6: Sigh. Roy. The one Lord who spends more time being rescued than fighting. FE7: I cannot commit to memory a single good Erk in all of the times I've played this game and used him. Regardless of his tempting availability, it's gotten to where it's much easier to ignore him and wait for Pent. FE13: Donnel just doesn't work. Some of the most broken units in the game also join early and can use the kills you'd feed to him to become even better. Robin, for example, can go Dark Falcon and get Galeforce to pass down to Morgan and Lucina. Those three units can beat the game by themselves, without exaggeration. Panne will also happily take that Second Seal Donnel would have wasted and kill whatever Robin left behind. Then there's Sully, a great unit in her own right who joins earlier and also outperforms Donnel. How can Donnel even stack up to that?
  17. Hope y'all don't mind me channeling my teenage self when I say that Felicia's voice is epic. One of the major reasons I adore that character.
  18. Kidnap seems like a no-brainer in terms of useful skills, but it's an entirely different ballgame to apply it in practice. My Ch. 11 Samurai mook put in a ton of work on Ch. 12 just by being diaposable, having Lunge, and access to the Dual Katana and a fucking Umbrella. Think of it as being able to use Summons from FE8 again, except the summons can be literally anything you want and stay as long as you want them to.
  19. Gonna ditto that one. Fates does give me some hope that supports can be good again, however; a lot of characters received their due in those conversations, even if they were a complete non-factor in the story. I really didn't like most of FE12's translated conversations. I feel like a proper localization could have breathed some life into them.
  20. Marth x Hardin in Champions of Aurelis, Marth x Camus x Nyna in the chapter where you finally fight Camus, Ogma x Caeda in Ogma's recruitment chapter (I think it's still available in subsequent chapters, too), Merric x Elice in the chapter before final.
  21. How are you judging a game you haven't even finished? Some of the most important character archetypes in the series that are still talked about to this day are contained in the latter chapters. It's a pity you can't appreciate the significance of Fire Emblem's very foundation.
  22. What on earth was this in response to?EDIT: I understand now.
  23. I honestly think they did a good job deconstructing the archetype Elise came off as. If you're really paying attention to what she says in and out of supports, the girl clearly has a brain and just isn't respected enough to share her insight. I know the feeling. Also want to give a shoutout to Selena. Just based on what I've read so far, her facade is much weaker in this game than in Awakening and she acts more like a person than an anime character. I have nothing but respect for her motivations and work ethic.
  24. I can't realistically vote Archanea when you have it lumped in with the Awakening continents.
  25. Yes. Come to my castle and claim it.
