  1. Trim down to 4 early pairs for planned pairings and consider A+ support's.

A lot of these units come late or pair off late so you'll be behind the power curve untill ch22 on every unit not named Percy or Xander. (Or possibly Elise/Nina but they're build dependant)

Odin is extremely good in LCQ.

The one time I used Effie, after my very first playthrough on hard, I PSd her to Be off Arthur. It turned out pretty well. It's always a bummer that knight ends up being so bad. I can only think of one FE title with good knights/generals, which is Shadow Dragon for the DS. Wolf and Zedgar or something? 100%+ growths in multiple stats, prepromotes, low join level, and fairly early recruitment. Oh man, those units are Camilla tier (maybe a little worse because their start is sketchy, which is actually why you put them in general initially).

General as a class is super useful in New Mystery as well on lunatic or lunatic reverse.

True, those classes gets pretty valuable niches and Master Ninja is filthy. Sadly General is just plain bad, probably the worst promoted class in the game. Its tanking niche isn't unique and other classes does it better, just like I proved

And in this case he is wrong since giving Effie boots won't help as much as giving them to someone else.

The question in this topic isn't related about drafts or pmu, it's implied Critical Sniper is talking about a normal run.

In a normal run, Effie isn't optimal (in fact she is so overrated it physically pains me) and wasting boots on her is a terrible idea, expecially since in CS' case, he stated that Effie's speed is still pretty bad.

Eh. She suffers from the problem that most physical units do. IE finding a niche not owned by Silias, Percy, or Camilia.

That said she does have an exceptionally useful Mozu support to grab +12 stack a bird, a speed stat, and 8 move. With S she can snag another real class or, since she can actually gain a good chunk of exp early, we can go for pass on her without super extra issues making her a decent unit all game with a useable niche.

Her big flaw is 4 move in ch7-9, which is just godawful and is a legitimate reason to drop her on her neck.

    Spoiler, Critical Sniper's run isn't a solo

It might shock you but mounted units still takes the cake

Malig Corrin can do everything Camilla does, and when it comes to midgame he\she does does that even better

Beruka eventually turns tanky enough to be a flying Xander, or Silas can be a weaker but faster Xander.

And that's not counting captured units.

Lunatic Nichol's bases are even higher than Camilla's (except for speed and luck, they are still good) and he has maxed weapon ranks. Capturing him is easy since his only ranged weapon is a tome and Niles laughs at that

And in Nichol's chapter, the wyvern lords in Lunatic boasts some Xander-Ish bases, and that's even before chapter 10, making Nichol's friends even better than Xander. Those Wyvern Lords (plus Beruka if you train her) can also do what people uses Effie for: tanking, using beast killers and hammers for effective damage. The only difference is that Effie does that worse because her poor movement and bad skills.

If you are wondering how I managed to capture this guy before chapter 10, I used Niles + Odin attack stance

To be clear, nobody is claiming Effie is good.

There are absolutely things we can do in CQ with foot units (namely MN, Sorc, and BE) that we cannot do with mounted or Bird based units, and we want to pick up skills which are often on the lower move classes.

Starburst is claiming that there is always an edge case in CQ where doing insane things is the only reasonable thing.

IE: In a limited unit run (draft, pmu, whatever) Mozu!Niles!Effie can rock a kinshi with move+1 and pass. We would absolutely boots her here.

    ----------------

General!Elise is a bit of insanity where MK!Elise flys onto the magic tile in the ch23 wall and reclasses in-chapter to general off A+ Effie. Fully buffed she still doubles and ORKO's with the bolt axe and has better-than-talisman-Xander bulk. It's a silly but effective way to clear that map. She's low-key best royal.

  5. Oh hey. This is a thing.

Ch11: Percy GO. Didn't bother with Rinkah's room, capturestave promoted to burn a freeze in the LaD room. Lots of tonics on Percy and Silias here.

Ch12: No Elise x.x Mozu farms the apoth kills for fun and profit. Silias and Percy kill everything else that needs killing.

Ch: Sophie quick draw Sophie is here. Percy gets exp to promote. Nerds do nerd stuff. Sophie starts building support with Percy. Elise is not deployed for stave.

Ch: 13 Percy SMASH. Lotsa tonics and a meal later your God is here. Elise chews a partner seal and slings a +2 bronze bow at dragons. Azura dances for benny. Nerds gain exp.

Ch14: So a +def Percy can just chew bows to the face for single digit damage when buffed up. Elise and Niles take Bird kills, Elise hits A+ with Azura, Azura dances for benny some more.

Ch15: Bought a levin, chewed tonics and a meal, HATE. Got more boosters for Percy. Corn Promotes.

ChNina: Shining bow girl get. Selena promotes for more stats on Leo so he can double in the east, Heart sealed Percy to BE for wall lunging. Got all the loot.

Ch16: Sbow Girl and Leo are how the west was won. Also cheaty tonics and a meal. Percy can still OHKO things with a forged hand axe so he just removes the east. Full promo now, Niles adventurer, Silias Paladin, Mozu Kinshi, Elise Adventurer, Arthur Be, Benny is a useless lug getting lapdances. Nina Adventurer (full sdust use + ARobe + Shields), Sophie Paladin. Fed most of the western promo kills to Elise. Percy Axed Shura for boots. All edrops and Swings on Percy. Elise uses the boots and skill books.

Ch17: Percy SMASH... as Elise's dual strike bot. She picks up L7 and fren seals into a Birdbow. Percy and Nina soak most of the remaining EXP as Nina shreds the north. Sophie is a dragon nowKotowhatso gets Axed by Percy.

ChKANA: Elise grabs air superiority and is a MK again, Nina grabs L7, Heartseeker, and Mal Aura then goes back to ADV. Percy drinks the rest.

Ch18: Buffing up, Elise and Leo chew the north and then swing south, Percy, Nina, and the nerdsquad chew the east and head north. Zola gets axed, Percy gets an Edrop, and a pair of Srank staves join my army.

Ch19: Percy goes WL and eats 3/4 of the map, remaining EXP to Nina, Elise, and Niles. Benny knocks up Azura and joins the bench.

Ch20: Air Superiority, L7 Elise under buffs flys up to Hayato turn 2 and removed the entire northwest from exostince with a +3 fire and Corn equipped. 0% bow disphit. Weeeeeee. Nina, Niles, and the nerds grab 10k, and rescue, Percy kills off Fuga and the east side of the map in 3 turns. He can just chew a kinshi hit.

Ch21: Percy says SKIP. Elise grabs some exp.

Ch22: SKIP. Elise, Niles, Nina, and a 2x arms scrolled GK Corrin feed while Percy Axed Yukiwhatsa.

ChIggy: Free exp and Wrank on corn.

    ChForrest: Free exp and Wrank.

ChShigure: Nina and Elise grab Pass, Percy takes his stack to +15. Corn grabs Wrank.

Ch23: PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS. 11 move WL Elise drops Percy straight into taco's room in attack stance, burned an Entrap to snag boots, got rallyman, Niles is close to Pass

Ch24: 12 move Elise says SKIP.

Ch25: Percy maxes out while Corn stabs a lobster with the brave lance PASSed to grab 10k chest with a rescue charge. Niles gets Pass.

Ch26:  Nina reclasses to strategist. Cleared first room. 3 Units with PASS, Percy, and a rescue charge end the map.

    Ch27: SKIP

    Ch28: SKIP.

It actually does. It at least tells you that a certain class is as useful as the needs of the party. In the particular case of a Hero of the Ages solo run, having ten Wyverns is as useless as having ten Villagers.

In the same vein, even after he told you that his Effie had been having good level-ups, you told him that Effie would fall off, that Camilla and Wyvern Corrin (who, somehow, are assumed to be present) were better candidates, and that a General was an even worse option and a terrible class. Yet you do not know the party composition. Who knows, a General Elise with Boots might be exactly what his party needs.
It is more about the party composition, and less about the class.

Speaking of General Elise, joshcja, when are you going to finish that run, mate?

It's finished. Can't find the thread because internet is the real final boss.

The rundown in a nutshell is "Percy happened, normal play to ch20, Percy kills 7 dudes with the brave axe and Corncob hits a lobster with a brave lance"

And I answered too, explaining why boots should be given to someone else

So, what? Lunatic goes just fine even with an Odin Solo, that doesn't make the royals or the wyvern line any less good.

Lunatic isn't always an Odin solo?

I dunno, I thought it was saying otherwise. Maybe @starburst knows why?

He was saying OS is busted because it's a bolt axe + tome using general without the armor flag.

It's not as good in CQ as it is in BR/Rev because 0 damage is bad here, the growths are somewhat awkward, the skills are absolute piss, and it's not really stellar on the lategame mapskip boss rush, but as a finishing combat class it's up there with MK and MN. Not quite Sorc/BE power (IE perfect killing machines), yet still significantly above the assumed power curve.

Ignore Levant, he does this in every single thread.

Yeah I actually haven't played the full Conquest Lunatic campaign in a while either, and I'm at the end again now where I know I have a strat to beat broken Takumi on the final chapter. I've done it before. But its too much of a bother beating Garon over and over again, just to get to the point where I can experiment with my approach for a few turns and then wipe again.

Whats the secret sauce for not getting instant hell-murdered by the combination of staff savant, inevitable end, and Takumi's AoE before you land a hit on the boss???

(I think last time I did this I just cheesed it with aforementioned replicate + warp degeneracy)

Pass+Rescue and a unit able to deal 25x4 or 38x2 to Taco.

Started up a run of Birthright with a male Corrin.

Sakura is worthless except as an aura bot. Subaki is actually performing quite well in the early game; he has the same strength as Hinoka at equal levels but with more natural defense. The Christmas ninjas are awesome and Apothecary Azama is always fun.

I forgot how much Felicia sucks. Still better than Sakura.

Swokekura is a pretty not-awful first heart seal use. Having more birds in BR is always nice.

  11. Quick comparison of kid thoughts.

Join time: A is for pre ch10, B is for pre-ch13, C is for Pre-ch18, D and you don't exist.

    Paralouge: Loot+Exp+cash is an A, 2 of loot, cash, or exp is a B,one is a C, none is a D.

Power: How good is this unit at their best?

    Dwyer: Join (S), Loot (A), power (B).

This assumes Corn marrige but he's really quite good if you can spare an early seal. Silias #2 but worse, like his dad. Can steal flight from Percy.

    Kana: Join (S), Loot (C), Power (C)

Exp fodder paralouge. Lots of exp though and easy feeding.

    Percy: Join (A), Loot (B), Power (A)

Dwyer with an actual base class, godlike inate stack, and innate flight.

    Sophie: Join  (A), Loot (A), Power (B)

Most female physical units in gen one are just "Sophie but worse" She can get flight off Percy before ch14 even ignoring inheritance. Extremely good.

    Nina: Join (B), Loot (A), Power (B)

Can and will fill any niche you need her to.

Ophelia: Join (B), Loot (S), Power (I have become death)

Totally unique loot, more broken than FEA Morgan. Best unit, in the franchise. Just stupid OP.

    Shigure: Join (B), Loot (C), Power (C)

    Kana #2

    Midori: Join (C), Loot (B), Power (C)

    Kana #3

    Soliel: Join (C), Loot (A), Power (A)

    MN Silias but cuter.

    Iggy: Join (C), Loot (D), Power (C)

    Hot garbage.

    Forrest: Join (D), Loot (C), Power (C)

Pretty much just a weaker Leo. No vantage no life. You're just here for the exp tbh.

    Veloria: Join (D), Loot (D), Power (A)

Awful Exp and no gubs, laughably late join, not enough time to really reach her power potential. Great in rev tho.

Seigbert: Join  (Ahahahahhaha NO), Loot (NOTHING), Power (D-)

Want base Silias at thirdshop? With a paralouge that gives almost 0 exp, and can only be cleared by units capable of outright winning the game in a few minutes? Worst unit in fates.

Now that I think about it, I remember that the Samurai Room in Chapter 11 took me a few tries last week because I was only using seven main units plus an under-levelled Niles to open the chests. He he. I simply did not have enough power to assault the room in one Player Phase using only Attack Stance (a double Freeze might have done it.)

About the north-western section in Ophelia's Map, I would have to try it again without Guard Stance, but remember that I visit this map before Chapter 12 and that I do not use the pre-promotes (Camilla, in this case.) I do not think that there are two-ingredients meals at that time.
Anyway, I completed the map after two or three tries in Lunatic last week. I was just surprised that Eltosian Kadath could grab the NW chest without Guard Stance. That was nice.

All this is a pure theoretical exercise, for I do not feel ready for his ten-units and No-Guard-Stance challenge yet. He he.

You can still get 2 or 3 boost meals off exquisite or similar levels + the ingredient boost.

As for north adventurer wyvern Elise at D axes can drag and drop a unit up there and just kill the entire topside in attack stance with a meal, tonics, and attack stance. Ez pz.

Can we just get a better pairing thread already? I am too inexperienced to do such a thing.

The issue with good pairings is that describing them either eat up an insane amount of text... or they can be summed up by the words "4 early pairs and you're good"

  14. 17 hours ago, starburst said:

For example, I am curious about how you entered the Samurai Room in Chapter 11 without Guard Stance, or how you dealt with the upper-left section of Ophelia's Chapter without Guard Stance.

Sam room in 11 is ruined by a freeze stave charge. Ophies map top left has a fort we can park a unit on with Elise/Cammy attack stance on. We've got tonics and a +2 meal by now so we can star bloat to the sky. Now on Ophy alongside a tonic+dust asap can pretty much shred this map early as well.

But you also bet against Jakob's missing various Speed growths, and lost. In the same vein, we tell you that, after twenty or thirty campaigns, some units performed steadily in certain ways when a discussed build was used.

I do not remember mentioning the growths of the units which we have been discussing. Simply because they always reached the thresholds that I needed.
Jakob's bases and growths are bad. If you mean Pal/ GK Jakob's bases, you are stretching the term. And even then, some other users can compare its performance to Silas's (I cannot do a fair comparison because I just ignore Jakob.)

In the end, I think that you are being too cautious about a game that can be completed without that much planning. As Zoran told you in another message, units do not even need to reach their averages to complete the tasks that you ask them to do when you have tonics, meals, support bonuses, auras, stance options, etcetera. Check his videos, they show perfectly reproducible approaches at average stats. No luck involved.

Silias takes a massive dump all over Jakobs growths and bases. He's a hyperoptimized version of Xander with higher "at level" bases. Jakob just gets to double earlier if he rolls rediculously well on speed pre-branch.

Similarly Odin has a similar spread to the most common TC MU's (+def/Hp) with a MUCH higher growth rate and higher bases.

His entire argument is based on not-knowing-how-cq-works.

Edit: is it just me or did half the thread just poof?
