  1. Erm....I had thought that Conquest did cancel out the Griffon Rider weakness. Are you absolutely sure that he took Weapon Effective damage, or are you only sure that he happened to take a lot of damage from a bow?

Reclassing Walhart from Conqueror to Griffon Rider reduces his Defense by 4, leaving his Defense stat as a level 1 Griffon Rider (if you reclass him before leveling him at all) at 30-37 (depending on the difficulty) so if the enemy was truly that powerful then it *might* be plausible. Also, did the enemy double attack or single attack, and if double attack was it 35 damage total or 35 damage from one hit (regardless of whether or not it was a double attack or a single attack)?

If you're sure that Walhart took Weapon Effective damage from a bow as a Griffon Rider, then the description of the Conquest skill should be changed, as it currently lists "beast" units as being Horse, Pegasus, Griffon Riders and Taguel units.

edit: The text in the attached image in the smaller font size shows up when you mouse over the underlined word "beast." My mouse isn't shown because I have my mouse cursor set to hidden in IrfanView.

    My thoughts exactly.

But then he got cleaved by an arrow in a single attack. I'm playing on hard mode, and he was paired with MU who had capped Sorcerer defense at the time, with an A support.

I think that the bonus damage the skill blocks is the 'beast' part of the damage. Bows don't do extra damage to beasts, but to fliers...which seems to be another type of bonus damage altogether.

I will attempt to get a good screenshot with Morgan, as I've already reclassed Walhart (again).

  2. I think it only negates Beast and Armor weaknesses, not flying weaknesses. So like a Beast Killer or Armorslayer would not do bonus damage.

    Mmm. That's probably it.

Which is a bummer, seeing as the flying bonus damage in this game is brutal. Not nearly as bad as Radiant Dawn, but harsh nonetheless.

  3. So Walhart's Paralogue chapter was released today for Spotpass, and I picked him up and made him into a Griffon Rider, for justifiable reasons that remain to be seen.

He comes with a shiny skill called Conquest that's supposed to block Bonus damage. And I didn't think anything of it until he took about 35 damage from a bow.

Err. Does this skill have to trigger? Or, does it only work in base class? Or... is it just for added shininess?

  4. Best: The Tactician. Nolan. Sup 'Unk.

Worst: Well, I suppose Naesala is somehow more 'realisitic' than Tibarn... Gharnef simply because my first thought upon seeing him was 'What the heck did your parents DO?!'. With all the laguz and manaketes, however, this is way too broad...

Nomination: Most/Least Likely to make Assist Trophy in SSB4

  5. Elincia would be cool, wouldn't she? And she could actually justify a B-side move of having a 4 hit Amiti combo, and perhaps a counter that heals her due to Recover, and....

But too many sword users! Elincia would make a great character, I agree, but I'd rather see a more unique weapon like a lance or Axe (Caeda or Minerva, as if Minerva had a good chance...), or magic - though I would prefer not to see Micaiah.

  6. In Marth's defense those were the original first games of the series so I think they were limited in interactions and conversations (I haven't played any of the 3D remakes) but I think the overall pre-battle stories explain themselves of his personality. I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't make him more dark and brooding what with the fall of his kingdom, death of his father and exile for so many years etc. Edit: These things wouldn't make anyone want to have a regular idle conversation about the weather and his inner darkest deepest secrets. Maybe even make Jeigan like a harsh drill instructor so Marth likes the taste of blood or something.

Yeah, I'm writing a fanfiction anime.

He definetly seems to have personality in FE11, but it matches his portrayal in SBB (except for the borderline effeminate things) where he is rather self-assured and almost conceited. I haven't played FE12 (sob.gif) yet, so I'm not sure where he goes from there, but from the translations I've seen he doesn't seem to lose his confidence. But from what I've heard about the originals, Marth seems to be chiIdlishly naive, at a contrast from his SBB & FE11 portrayals.

I guess what this is saying about Micaiah is that SBB can invent a personality for her, if they feel hers is 'inadequate'.

  7. Lots of people weren't trophies in Brawl.

EDIT: Also, I like your "subtle" jab at Micaiah's fanbase up there.

Don't get me wrong; Frankly, I like Micaiah as a unit. As a character, though, I think she falls short in personality, but that doesn't have anything to do if she gets into SBB, as Marth made it and he arguably doesn't have much personality either. Speaking from experience, I haven't encountered many Micaiah fans.

  8. Micaiah

No one would want it, but it'd be Micaiah.

    Or the chick from 13.

*Shudder* ...How did I forget completely about Micaiah? I would hope it wouldn't be her. For one thing, I don't think her 'popularity' is high enough... She didn't even break trophy in SBBB, did she? 0_o

Positively, though, she wouldn't be using a sword, which would be a nice change.

  9. It's no surprise that SSB has a mostly male cast, because the target demographic of most video games is male (especially those created when Nintendo was establishing its mascots).

I agree, but the female characters do help reel in that target audience *coughZeroSuitSamuscough*.

  10. Hopefully, as he goes into development for SSB4, Sakurai has realized that SSB is basically a gigantic sausage fest, and it needs more estrogen in it's roster. Not only that, but Fire Emblem as a series needs more representation, in my opinion.

If a female character from Fire Emblem was to make it into the SSB4, who would it be?

I don't think alot of FE's females have a great chance, but I think that someone with prominent appearances and decent ground fighting ability would make FE proud, and Nintendo proud for advertising. I'd say that Caeda, Mist (Radiant Dawn appearance), or perhaps even Liz from FE13 (Like Roy, just for advertisement) probably has the best chance. Even though Caeda's mainly a Pegasus Knight, she did have some ground fighting in FE3, and as the first female FE unit in existence she does hold some prestige. I'd also like to vouch for Lyn, but I think her window of oppurtunity has closed, as GameBoy Advance games almost sound like antiques to Nintendo now...

While there's a great chance that Sakurai remains blissfully unaware of all of this, but I'd like to see Caeda join the franchise. (And atleast then some of the Marth is gay stuff will stop. But probably not.)

  11. Most: FE7. Easy to get into, not all that hard to break class and weapon lines for a victory. Runner up tp FE9 for similar reasons, yet the Black Knight's very existence seems to contradict it.

Least: FE10, no contest. It stinks not being able to use whatever characters you like because their classes are simply statisically stunted, or their bases stink. Ridiculously unbalanced. Runner up to FE11, for ridiculously low (and nonexistent) growths.

  12. That was a separate rumor from shortly before this game's announcement. The rumor has been confirmed to be a hoax; this game is unrelated and takes place on an entirely new continent.

    Thank the Lord.

On another note, the music is quite pleasant, from what I could tell. I hope that it will be completely orchestrated.

  13. I always thought that the last real graphical achievement for Fire Emblem would be nailing how the characters interacted when not fighting, but I never thought that it would come at the complete sacrifice of how they looked while on the grid. The grid views could use touching up as well from the last games (more individuality, specifically from FE11&12), but to make them completely 2D? When the gridview is the majority of the gameplay, realistically?

  14. I agree with the opening post, though I think we highly overestimate ourselves. With FE12 being an all-around 'better' game than FE11, I'm sure that they have/had plans to release it internationally, but as software moves on the developers must as well which resulted in its delay/termination. I've been petitioning Nintendo for a variety of things for awhile, and I do think that we will do nothing to hurt FE13's chances by emailing and petitioning, but that's all I can say. We should take action and hype, but what we will accomplish in the long run is uncertain and hard to pinpoint.

  15. This was probably the best fangasm since Brawl, but I'm not very optimistic about this game's release date outside of Japan, due to FE12's situation.

Whether this was the nail in the coffin for FE12's international hopes or simply the next on deathrow remains to be seen. I'm hoping that the two might come out at similar times, for the DS and 3DS, but due to the lack of software on the 3DS right now, I doubt it.

Either way, the game looks fantastic, but the prescence of more than 2 characters in a battle definetly doesn't seem 'FE-ish', but it's about time for combo attacks.

I've heard it's somehow a sequel to FE6, but I'm rather hoping it isn't, as I feel that setting has been wrung dry at this point. I would rather get into the feel for a new, fresh story as I try to forget my pain about Marth's second adventure never reaching us.

  16. I remember Maria's Bro having an avvy of Maria using a Bishop cap like that one.

....Yeah, Haha, Sorry. That was Eremiya's headgear. I thought it was weird that all the Bishops seem to be wearing it, but Eremiya's the only one rocking it.

Glad to see you liked it. XD

    Anyway....

Best: I can't not vote for her now, Eremiya. NICE HAT. Runner up to Maria, Priscilla, and Nyna.

Worst: EDIT: Liz. (FE13) With the game just announced, and my first reaction is 'Oh please don't let that one be a main character, that hair is gonna make me break my game', I think she deserves it.

Runner up to Ranulf. That hat/strap contraption probably only began to bug me because of all of his screen time that left me to stare at it. Marth...for that Tiara that actually looked more manly in FE11&12, but is just a travesty everywhere else...

I nominate Most/Least Complex Character Design. I suppose Most/Least Complex Character would work as well, but the entire cast of Shadow Dragon Save Marth, Caeda, Maria, & Minerva would make the Least Complex list, so let's just stick with the first one.

  17. Ricardo, once again is the star. I can't believe how incredibly snide & greasy Michalis comes off, but I can't seem to get mad at him; it's probably his hair. Linde was perfect though, it's almost exactly how I imagined her 'revealing herself'. :awesome:

And it goes without saying, but Thank you for your hard work and sacrifiice!

  18. Wow, this is hard...

Best: Caeda (FE12). Runner ups to Heather, MIST(Both), Elice, Fiona, Lyndis, Astrid(FE10), Elincia(FE9 Ending &FE10), Leanne(FE10), Priscilla, Norne, and, of course, MARIA.

Worst: I have to say Dorothy, despite that she is one of my favorite characters. Runner up to Ena, Niime, Lena(FE11&12), Nyna(FE11&12).

  19. Best: Marth, for biting his nails about Elice for so long. Runner up to Ephraim.

Worst: Michalis. People like Matthis and Makalov are bad, but Michalis takes the cake in completely ruining the lives of his siblings - mostly imprisoning Maria for like six years, and then of course the many years of therapy he warranted by dying on her. Runner ups to Boyd and Rolf as well. Ike...wasn't neccessarily that supportive either.
