  1. Thank you for all the feedback! I'm definitely very new to this section of the Forums despite having been on SF for almost four years now, mainly because I (somehow) never really thought there were other writers here, even less an entire area of the website! I'll try to answer your questions, but keep in mind that, HfP aside, they lack a coherent story (as in, I don't know how the plot proceeds step by step: HfP is different because I kinda do, even if it's not that amazing in my opinion). Rise and Fall's world and lore have undergone many massive changes over the years: Kyra (the female protagonist) being a dragon is a pretty recent idea that I had as a result of needing to flesh out the main antagonist's schemes more. I already talked about Axel (the male protagonist) and Kyra's origins - as they are, in fact, one of the few things that has basically remained the same over time - but the real event that sparks said main antagonist's plan is a war that was fought a couple months after the main duo was born (I'd say around 17 years before the story begins). The First Hostilities It was the result of a certain population living close to one of the continent's biggest nations (the Kingdom of Alcaen) being forced to move from their own region (maybe a nation of its own) to Alcaen as a result of some disaster that affected them all, be it an earthquake or (as in the latest "version") plague. The immigrants, with a fame of isolationists and atheists ever since the beginning of "modern" history (more on that later) are met with hostility by the Alcaenites and this hostility quickly turns to war. The War The war brings great amounts of casualties to both sides (Alcaenites on one side vs the other population, joined by their kinsmen who already lived in Alcaenian territory), including Axel's father Morrison and Kyra's father (without a name as he is not really important), as well as (according to popular belief) Kyra's mother Mathelda, too, on the immigrants' side. On the Alcaenites' side, the main loss comes from the assassination of the King (think FE7 Desmond), brought to justice by his own son when the conflict had grown too dire and the former had no intention of declaring a truce. The Antagonists (1) - Yoderick As for the antagonists, there would be two major ones: the first would be a general from "the immigrants" who is starting a rebellion to reclaim the rights - and possibly the land - lost by his kin 17 years prior (I would like to incorporate a bit of politics in all of my stories, I really like when a Fire Emblem game, say one of Tellius' or Jugdral's, has that flair which makes it more than just a war story). In order to do so, he intends to amass a huge force to bring equal rights for both races (as you'll see in the "Origins" part, the immigrants were not exactly normal humans) both in Alcaen, which he considers his mortal enemy, as well as the continent's other nations (where discrimination is weaker and less common, but present nonetheless). His "win condition" of sorts would be finding individuals among the ones from the scattered remains of his people with the power to transform into dragons (as you may imagine, Kyra would be one of them). Other people of their race have similar but weaker powers: think Major and Minor Holy Blood, or Three Houses' Crests. Just like in those games, these would be basically superhumans, capable of granting Yoderick's army an incredible advantage over his enemies. This is a very recent idea and I think it would be much easier to work with in a story compared to an actual game, given that this kind of characters often turn into literal gods (see the Holy Weapon users from FE4). Just so you know, Yoderick is a General, ideally serves are your midgame Jagen (Axel and Kyra's dad would be there for the earlygame and then leave for some reason), and has a sword cavalier named Brody for a nephew (his parents were also victims of the war) and a daughter of his own, a currently unnamed Paladin. The Antagonists (2) - Dante The other, more sympathetic main antagonist here would be Dante, the current King of Alcaen (remember the one who killed his father?). Dante, in my mind, was going to be some sort of tragic villain: after killing his father, possibly losing someone dear to him during the war and becoming the king of a country where, in spite of his efforts, discrimination against the once-immigrants is still very much a thing, he could use the rebellion as a way to unite both races against himself. This would also (selfishly) save him from his duties and occur through some sort of dragon superweapon/nuclear bomb (or a real dragon) to destroy the continent with, requiring some hero (this is where Axel could become relevant, finally, but I still kinda prefer Kyra) to "unite both races against him and tie them together forever". Or something, I really don't know! Some more information on Dante He would probably be a very regal man, kinda like Zephiel but not as tall and muscular. I would have him use an equally "regal" weapon, like a sword (in a fencing style similar to Eliwood's, for example, unlike that of, say, Ike or Lyn) to match his persona. If he were a magic user, instead, he could be a light, anima or dark user: on one hand, the church is pretty corrupt - if you've played DQ8 (God, I love that game!) it would be similar in that only nobles have access to the highest ranks, and even then the so-called clergymen would not abstain from sexual intercourse, earthly possessions and other such things. The Roman Catholic Church was very much like this during the end of the Middle Ages and especially during the 16th century, for example. It would not be particularly fitting for a man like Dante, then; Anima is the middle-ground, and even in this world it would be by far the most common type; Dark magic, in my opinion, would be the best option for him: he IS trying to destroy a continent, after all, and I would like Rise and Fall to have that same kind of "elder magic" that Canas refers to as not inherently evil, but misunderstood. Furthermore, as you'll see now, I intend to give him at least two daughters, one of whom you may or may not be already familiar with. About Dante's family While I was writing this, I had an idea that could be either very cliché or very interesting: Kyra could actually be the daughter of Dante's love that he thought was lost to the war (in that case, there would not be any new characters: that lost loved one would be Mathelda). Kyra would thus be the half-sister to another character I had already thought of for the story, Brigitte the "warrior princess", very similar (albeit not as important) to a Lord in gameplay, with her own special class, promotion, weapons and so on. With the help of her retainer and father figure Jaeger, Brigitte (daughter of the woman the former king had chosen for Dante, who may or may not be queen or even alive during the "game") could have been taken away/have fled court at a young age and grown up in one of two environments: the world of mercenaries/gladiators, travelling from arena to arena under Jaeger's constant watch, or a secret, ancient force created by the first Alcaenites as "guardians" of the nation's peace and prosperity, regardless of various figures like the monarch or the equivalent of the Pope in the "Church of Heaven" (above-mentioned corrupt church). I've already rambled far too long, and I'm not even quite sure posts this large are acceptable, even in this area of the Forums (I'm really bad at summarizing by nature, as you probably noticed). If you want, in my next post I could talk about the origins of the half-dragon people or just some of the secondary characters of the game, like Yoderick's nephew and daughter, Jaeger, Axel and Kyra's childhood friends and others.
  2. Wow. I'm Italian but this actually made me curious. Let's see what the wiki has to say (I can't remember every FE character off the top of my head, what is my memory good for even) Anna (two, ironically one half-Irish, the other my half-American cousin). One Luna (Japanese name for Fates!Severa). Felicia's my best friend's current crush (not the Fates character, one of his classmates is a Moldavian girl called Felicia). Camilla (one of my best friends, plus another one), three Elisa (not Elise but close enough) and a Charlotte (a "holiday flame", from back when I was... 12). Silvia (one is the mother to one of the Elisa), three Claudio (Italian equivalent of Claud), one Patty (aunt's nickname) and Linda (old friend's mom). Two Lorenz(o) (friends, one very unpleasant at times), many Cecil(ia) and, of course, a TON of Marias. Ironically, just one Lucia, one or two Elenas and one Nico (nickname for Niccolò) out of Tellius' massive cast. One of my childhood friends was this kid called Marcus who actually offered to give me his FFXIII-2 (not sure why I didn't just grab it, maybe I didn't have my PS3 at that time), but I also know a Dorotea (similar to Dorothy and Dorothea, one of my middle school teachers, miss her a lot) and my 1-month old niece is called Tea (similar to the FE6 peg). A lot from FE7, interestingly enough: Matteo (for Matthew), Rebecca, Priscilla, Carla (Karla). This last one happens to be the mother of the above-mentioned Patty, grandmother to one of the Elisa, to an Erika and to a Leila, both mother and mother-in-law to two Alberto (similar to Elbert). I've met a Franz, a Ross, know an Arturo (similar to both Arthur and Artur), my neighbor's name is Pablo, I know a Walter and a few Serenas (similar to both Selena and my girl Syrene). One of my mom's cousins is called Monica, too (Orson's dead wife iirc). Pretty sure I had an English teacher called Tania, and I know a lot of people with names like Marty, such as Marta, my sister, a few Martinas (one of which I had my first kiss with when I was like 7, now she's a teen mom, fun conversations were had). I know a Lara (mother to said Erika and Leila), a couple Saras and a few Giulia (most not nearly as cool as Julia). Lastly, TRS: an actual Silva (my dentist, Sun's mom), an Alice (kinda like Alicia), a Rennie (nickname of another one of my mom's cousins, mother to the half-American Anna). Said Anna's second name also happens to be Lee. Marcus' dad was called Lionel, my godfather's name was Ernesto (kinda like Ernst). Guess what, there's another Marta here (with an h though) and finally (Saint Rubenio might love this) Marta collects stuffed animals. Her pig is called "Eugenio Pancetta", which roughly translates to "Eugen Bacon". I probably overdid it, I'm going to bed now.
  3. Hey guys! I hope this is the right place to post this. Simply put, I'm an Italian high school student who has always loved "creating". As a child, it was mainly by drawing, but being the videogame enthusiast I am, that quickly turned to using my favourite series as a base to create new stories. I've been told I can become a good writer, but I'm not particularly sure about that myself. The point of all this is that, ever since 2015 or so (pretty much when I fell in love with FE), I've found this series to be exceptionally interesting when it comes to creating my stories. Many of them hardly have anything going for them besides a plot concept, while others are more structured. What makes them all kinda similar is the fact that they're basically FE games that will never come to life due to my lack of hacking skills, mainly because I don't have the dedication to learn programming, spriting, animating or anything like that. I'll try adding a poll so that the 3 people who will read this may choose which one of the following "projects" they would like to hear more about. Again, they will never go beyond this level, so I'd like this thread to be both a place where I can talk about them and where you can point out any mistakes in my English (I really care about developing it to the highest level I can, so please, do correct me). The options are the following: - FE: Hunger for Power (a tale of three knights with different backgrounds and personalities, bound by a common destiny that will turn them into heroes of a war spanning the whole continent) - This is actually the first ever idea for an FE-based story I had, back in September 2015. I even posted about it here during the following summer, but I quickly realized that as a 14-year old I would hardly be able to make a Fire Emblem hack all by myself, without any knowledge of coding. Four and a half years have made me grow attached to these characters, though. A lot. Even though it's probably really flawed, they're my precious little children (some more precious than others) - FE: Rise and Fall - A story about two newborns (a swordsman and a female sage-in-training, not related) taken in by an assassin, Alain/Mateus, who killed the father of one of them and almost cut down the other's mother. Then they go on to escape their country, join a rebellion led by a bloodthirsty general, get separated, reunite, the girl discovers she can turn into a dragon... basically a huge mess. - FE: Will - In ancient times, men learned the art of harnessing magic from their own willpower (Will, with a capital W, for short). They then obtained near complete dominance over the continent, subjugating the other races. The story follows a pilgrim of the Church of Will, a famous mercenary (on the side of the first "main antagonists", a group of merchant guilds who have created items called Enhancers, which can draw magic out of normally non-magical people), and a merchant who was disowned by her family because she didn't want to sell Enhancers, unlike them. - FE: Prophecy - The continent was once invaded by conquerors from the faraway "Ivanelle". A priestess who led the rebellion against the invaders was burned at the stake and, on the brink of death, prophesized that the land would turn against its new inhabitants once the "head Conqueror" and the reincarnations of his six most loyal allies had had their souls destroyed. In a strange twist of fate, the six remaining souls all reincarnated in the same era, and are bound not only by this, but by blood as well (most of them, at least). So yeah, choose, correct me and enjoy!
  4. As long as Pig Armor is back, I have nothing to say but: H Y P E
  5. Would it be an exaggeration to say this might be the best thing since sliced bread? Ok, maybe, but good luck either way!
  6. I hadn't thought about that! Thinking about it, on one hand it's kinda weird that despite the Rings being the keys to the swords, all four of their wielders are actually descendants of Carluon, but on the other it creates a pretty cool link between the royal families and Carluon's. What I'm trying to say is that, since Lieberian countries seem to favour male rulers over female ones like most real-life monarchies (I'm not an expert on contemporary monarchies, but I'm pretty sure these kinds of governments were all pretty patriarchal until like two centuries ago), and Carluon only had daughters, either him, Yutona or the daughters themselves probably chose the most suitable husbands to begin the modern Lieberian countries (and considering what happened with Grauss and Enteh's father, I think we can be pretty sure that was the only time it happened). This means that while, for the following generations, it was the males who held the power (Grauss forcing Tita to transform, Enteh being locked away in the Water Shrine, even Bahanuk restoring the Zoan Empire to an extent), that power was granted to them by Reeve, Salia, Leda and Canaan, four women, interestingly enough! And it's those very women (through their descendants, in our case Enteh, Katri, Neyfa and Tia) who grant the men (through the rings, aside from Tia and Richard but they're a special case) access to the physical manifestation (the swords) of the goddess' power (Yutona), which she granted Carluon (the precursor to the kings of the four nations)... wow, when people say Fire Emblem mistreats its female characters, they sure aren't including TearRing Saga!
  7. Shouldn't Sennet also be a descendant of Carluon? Canaan WAS the name of his youngest daughter. If you're going by ethnicity, then Canaanites were originally Zoan, but Ledans and Welltese are supposedly a mix of Reevans, Salians and Zoans. Granada is pretty much independent so yeah, no chance Holmes is anywhere near 0% legendary hero, and there is no evidence the dukes of Reeve were related to the royals in any way. So yeah, apparently (for once) being of a legendary bloodline means you're a Gotoh here.
  8. Oh, ok, sorry if I sounded rude. Well, it will be really cool to finally play an XNA game and I haven't played SoA in so long, it will surely be a nice breath of fresh air.
  9. So I remember reading that the new update was going to include the entirety of Arc 2... How long is that exactly? Really excited for the new release btw, FEE3 will probably shoot the hype through the roof (and it shall pierce the skies!).
  10. Most importantly, you have chosen Axel, Stark and Grace instead of those darned mounts. Efficiency be damned, we will beat the game with those three alone!
  11. Thanks! I'll try to play this on my computer if I can manage to send my saves (and game) over there. Unfortunately I've been having abit of trouble with the Dropbox link ever since I first downloaded it as it says the folder doesn't exist. Am I the only one? I'll try to access it from either Discord or FEU and see if anything changes. EDIT: I was able to download the patch from FEU. Now I will try playing the game on my computer's VBA for the save thing. Here's to hoping it's not too old.
  12. I downloaded it like yesterday from FEU and it's great! I'm currently stuck on 1-7 though because Gunnar just doesn't want to appear. I've waited on his tiles with pretty much my entire army and there's no sign of him. I was going to replay the chapter again anyway since I lost the Light Brand so I can try and see if anything changes the second time. EDIT: I replayed the map, got everything and still no Gunnar (also, is the tile with an arrow next to Zard meant to do anything?), I even checked your stream on YouTube but you don't seem to be doing anything special. I downloaded the fix you uploaded from the link on FEU but it says you have to apply it to a clean rom? Do I have to replay the game until now or is there some way of recovering my save file for the new patch? I can confirm there is no way of proceeding past 1-7 because the game goes on a loop at the end (apparently because Gunnar was not recruited).
  13. Man, it's not just epic. It also has correct Latin! Well, almost. It translates to "Oh Lord because comes to judge the earth...". Quia is best translated as because, and was probably mixed up with Qui, the correct pronoun that should translate to "who", making the sentence "Oh Lord who comes to judge the earth...". A little late, but we got there in the end. Also props to Morse for being 10x cooler than Gotoh if only for this spell. Wow, of all the opportunities... the first TRS LP I read was on the LP Archive and the author sent Sasha on Holmes' route. I didn't find Holmes that infuriating at the time (I do find him a little more annoying now that I've read this LP, and good God did I root for Eugen in their fight) but he is a royal (republican? Whatever Granada is) douchebag there. He's really harsh on Kate for no real reason. Truly one of my least favourite Holmes moments. The fact I love Kate to death doesn't help. He thinks of his sister in his last moments. That hits home for me, as I'm a sucker for any sibling relationship. Carla may have been evil, but she truly cared about Zieg, and the reverse is just as true. Kate is just a magnificently written character and she deserves more love.
  14. Mangs is probably going to be mindblown when he finds out.
  15. HYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE (Seriously though, is there an Owen or a Belle version?)
  16. I actually mentioned you while watching the stream. No one caught on it, of course, but just in case you or anyone else who read the FE6 LP (I'm re-reading it btw) were watching... While I have never used Macellan, Maria was one of my best units in my FE3 Book 1 Ironman run (which is the place a lot of my Archanea preferences come from), so I'm really happy to see her perform (she IS performing, right?). Who else are you using? I see a female Sniper, is that Norne? She's definitely my favourite native bow-user in Archanea and you have no idea of how good she becomes if you reclass her to a General post-promotion. Seriously, do that when you play FE12 again. We all know you want to play it again. So... I have yet to play 3H (or get a Switch, for that matter) but I wouldn't suggest playing it on a different difficulty if you didn't enjoy it previously. It might make it even more stressful, if anything. (Ignore the first quote, SF is weird) Regarding Advance Wars, well I love it as much as you do 3H. That means I hate it. Maybe it's because I found out about it after FE but it's just so boring for me. As I said, you shouldn't force yourself to play through a game you loathe. It doesn't work.
  17. One patch to rule them all... now you only need to make a hack my man (also I'm actually confused as to why you chose Windham instead of Oro for a screenshot, or why you didn't include Morgan). Btw, there's four of us counting yourself so far.
  18. THE HYPE IS REAL BOIS (also Marques went from like 15 to 25 years old).
  19. I mean, take your time! Staff of Ages is already so polished, you might as well go the extra mile(s) to make it even better. Is the story of Act 1 going to undergo more major change or will it be just refining? I seem to recall one of the early chapters being changed in the last FEE3, but I don't remember any complaints with the story we have right now in public releases (then again, it's your game and I know it's hard to be fully satisfied with a story).
  20. Wow. You actually made a female Byleth that's prettier than the real female Byleth. Cheers, greatest English grammarian to ever walk Serenes Forest.
  21. Lyre might be worse. I mean, everyone in Part 1 can be easily grinded up to speed with ease in 1-E (Glare a priest + keep hitting the priest with someone who is loaded with weapons). Not quickly, mind you, but I don't think we care about turncounts here. (Also, may I mention that Part 2 is probably in the better half of the game for me)
  22. I would actually really enjoy seeing you play RD blind. It's probably my favourite FE game and knowing you, you'd put together a pretty solid team (I wouldn't suggest playing it Ironman on your first playthrough tho). Also I would have a reason to resume playing my RD Normal Mode file and finish the game once before I die.
  23. Are these Roman vibes I'm getting from Arynden? Also I believe I recently studied that a certain form of Roman theatre used masks (although I'm not sure how much those resembled the one Oberon wears). Really cool, I dig it. Can't wait for the new release! Btw, I have no knowledge of spriting or hacking, so don't take this to heart, but the screenshots of the dialogues in the XNA port felt... weird. Mainly because it looks like the portraits are much smaller than the ones used in Immortal Sword on a much bigger scenery image (don't know the technical name for that). I'm sure you already know this, I don't mean to sound rude.
