  1. It's pretty good strategy. It makes the casual player check back often just in case the daily orbs started up again. It's the same as gambling, getting 2 dollars for every dollar you put in every single time is actually less addicting than getting 2 dollars only half the time.
  2. I hope Faye's an decent archer---I don't want to inherit a bunch of stuff onto my Klein since he's +Atk/-Spd, which... is better than Neutral Klein, who is damn good, but... -Spd hurts his L&D offenses too much for inheritance to be worth it. Edit: Also, Hp + 3 is so overpowered out of the S-skills. You get 3 more arena score versus 1 more, and 3 HP is like getting 3 Def and 3 Res for 1 combat. (Or 1.5/1.5 for 2 hits.)
  3. Heroes get hero merit = 'feather points' for doing things, 500 'feather points' turn into 500 feathers (I believe), each hero has a cap of 2000 'feather points,' shared across duplicates.
  4. 5 orbs buy a hero, 3* heroes give 150 feathers. (Turns out my minimum was actually too low.)
  5. Uh, to remove the double-negative. What I meant was: It is expected for them to put back a daily source of orbs. Edit: The sentence I typed is 'this is the kind of tomfoolery up with I will not put' tiers of stupid, but technically 'proper' english. Also, Ninja'd.
  6. I get the impression merit is based on 'useful actions' done. My healers get a boatload of merit when I auto-battle.
  7. I don't know, I'd be perfectly fine if they only brought back 2 orbs per day for me. For the sake of me. ; ) For reals though, it's really unlikely that they wouldn't put a daily source of orbs back in.
  8. It's also a good excuse to train units from 1 to 40, which will be great whenever you decide to use them later. (Even if the IV isn't the best, merging the one you trained into the one you're planning to use will have the merged hero keep every skill the sacrifice learned.) Edit: source
  9. That's nothing, I've ran into 40 speed, 60 Atk Kleins before. (The 40 speed was AFTER the brave-bow spd reduction. FML.)
  10. Alfonse does have a pretty nice 32 defense, so he could pull off a T-Adept build decently well. T-Adept for greens, Swordbreaker for reds, and I imagine his match-ups would be very similar to Selena's. (Except for the fact that Alfonse will get raped in the Sword-breaker mirror, whereas Selena wins because speed-tier.jpg)
  11. Fury 3 is my go to testing a-skill. Death Blow fixes S!Lucina issues but causes problems elsewhere. Edit: Swift Sparrow is ideal, but also not an option for obvious reasons. Double Edit: Oh! Sorry, didn't realize you replied before my edit. I use L&D 1 to get 3 speed, 3 atk. (My Minerva's +Hp, so I still need the 3 speed.)
  12. Yeah, Rein has very good bulk despite his low speed. (This means, ironically, that the high tier swords do worse against him than other blues, since other blues usually rely on not getting doubled to survive, whereas Rein just face-tanks.) Also, I figure Minervas will mostly be -Res because people who run L&D on her will go 'Well, I don't want to sacrifice my offenses, and I need Hp & Def for tanking counters!' And then they die to blue-mages, and cry. Slightly Off-topic: Thinking about it, a -Atk/+Spd Minerva might be the best IV for her---I can't recall my -Atk Minerva ever missing any KOs I needed her to do. Edit: Ugh, S!Lucina survives with 1 HP, that's not kosher.
  13. Oh you could, you VERY much could. +Atk Rein with DB3 2HKOs L&D 3 Neutral Minerva from full hp, even through Cowl. If you run classic Minerva she'll die and then your team dissolves.
  14. You can tell that Minerva was running L&D 3 like a scrub. Fury 3 or just no-A skill Minerva would probably solo that team. ; ) For reals though, I think dancer + Reinhardt doesn't work too well. Have you tested the team in auto battle? Seems like Rein would just dash forward out of dancer range like an idiot, and die a turn or two later.
  15. I like Cowl a lot on Minerva, but I don't run her like other people. I use her excellent offenses, great axe, and flier mobility to 1 round anyone I want dead. Then I abuse her excellent physical bulk, great speed tier, and Cowl to make sure she can always survive 1 hit, which is all she needs to do. Edit: For Effie, however... are you using her as a delete button that will tank a hit, or a delete button that deletes as many things as possible?
  16. Selena does have bow-knight access, and Nyx has access to the fascinating Life and Death, Bow Faire, Adventurer build with easy Shining Bow access. Plus she's fast enough to double chapter 10 pegs to death with just a bronze bow, though you'll have a hell of a time leveling her if you don't marry Niles off fast for that Shining Bow. (You marry her to Odin and friendship her with Mozu).
  17. Yeah... Takumi is so good that every other archer in his route is destined to be benched the moment the option is available. You can instant promote him and his stats don't even suffer enough for it to matter, so naturally Kinishi doesn't hurt him that much. The problem with Kinshi is basically the Beruka problem---Beruka is actually damn good, incidentally. It's not so much that they're terrible as the fact that they're right next to other, far superior options. (Camilla.) A falcon-knight has better stats in literally everything except skill (which doesn't matter since Falcon's better luck equalizes the hit rates anyway), has 1-2 range as well thanks to bolt naginata (I... think birthright has a Shining Bow? Not too sure. Edit: No shining bow in birthright.), has staves (very good in fates), plus (depending on how much you value Rally Speed), a better skillset. Sniper v. Falcon is basically the stats versus mobility choice, which usually goes to mobility so long as you have good enough stats. Takumi manages, not sure if anyone else does, however. Setsuna definitely doesn't, 20 personal STR growth means Kinshi rapes her. Reina is a Corrinsexual (and therefore falls off hard and fast, unless you're planning to ruin Kanna. Gunter does the same, but he has that sweet, sweet +3 to fuck you personal). I looked at Reina again, she has 50% STR growth. Fuck supports, she's fine. Mozu works, but she's a trainee in a route filled with Seths. (Takumi, Ryoma, Corrin to a lesser extent, the list goes on.) Hinoka can make Kinshi work, but she'd much rather be Falcon for the better bulk so she can switch to using a weapon other than guard naginata. Subaki suffers almost as much as Setsuna with 30 personal STR growth, another case of raped by Kinshi (Kinshi gives 5% to STR, and 0% to MAG, versus Falcon's 10%/10%). tl;dr Takumi and Reina make Kinshi work, but that's more because Takumi and Reina are amazing than because the class is any damn good.
  18. Well, third day and second day flags can be swapped if it ends up better to do that. You can do like 1.8 days worth on day 2, and 1.2 days worth on day 3 (to beat out all the 'all-in every day' people).
  19. Odin... has problems. He dumped too much points into Hp, and suffers from the fact that his def/res are simultaneously too good and not good enough. He gets +4 with a boon to both (which sounds good, until you remember there's only 1 boon). His speed is middling, at 32---fast enough to avoid a lot of doubles IF you give it a boon. His attack is unsalvagable, but he has a _Blade tome, and even if you swapped it out, his bulk means that he can afford to take time to fish for kills. Basically, his stats are : Hp: Too much Atk: lol (Lowest non-staff attack in the game, Azama is the absolute lowest) Speed: Too much AND too little Defense: Too much AND too little Res: Too much AND too little. Odin is basically the Selena of mages, good all-around stats at the cost of dumping Atk like crazy. Except, being a mage, his stats are 'not enough' rather than 'barely enough' in a lot of the categories. This is unfortunate because while you can use skills to patch up one part of him, you can't patch up ALL parts of him at once. A Raven Renewal\Quick Riposte T-Adept build would put in work with the right special, but desperately needs -Spd or +Spd, (yeah, Odin's actually TOO fast to leverage his bulk for faster special charge, while also being too slow to double) and +Def. Of course, Robin already does this, so use Robin instead. His stat spread is simply too weird to abuse easily, you'd have to spend a lot of time shifting through match-ups to find a good build for him. Like Selena, he'd do better dumping Atk even more, like, to the 10s. Once you have such a janky Atk stat you might as well go all in and rely on special procs to do damage.
  20. @BANRYU I have my feather information compiled here, if you want to compare notes. Edit: Just looking at it, it's definitely necessary to save some flags rounds 1 & 2, since the last round of flags only got me 300 flags over the base. The best route would probably be, round 1 pick an obvious loser, rank high for ~2k feathers, don't use flags, round 2 back either the obvious winner or runner up, rank high with just 1 quest day of flags, and then round 3 dump everything, rank high again with 2 days (1 & 3) of flags.
  21. Very much the opposite, actually. Their bases, growths, and caps mean that it's pretty much never worth reclassing into them. Sure, they can 1 round fliers... but so can any other flying class, and those aren't useless against grounded units.
  22. Kinshi Knights. A thing. Is. (Selena actually has them in her class-tree, but there's literally 0 point since she has Bow-Knight.)
  23. I mean, the Irish are right. 1v1, open field, Spear beats Swords. Hell, spears beat swords even harder if the fight's more than 1v1. (Bows beat everyone, though, except bows on horses, which really beat everyone.) A sword is pretty much never the best choice compared to daggers (tiny ass corridor), lances (open field), bows (you what mate?), or hammers (plate-mail). But it's also never the worst choice, which is why anyone carrying a more specialized weapon will also have a sword, so they don't get killed for free when someone goes into their specialty's blind-spot. (Bows in melee, spears in corridor, hammer anywhere except against armor, etc.)
  24. I'm going to do both Philip and Joanna @ 100% = 1 dragon-blood. Charles V, Ferdinana, Anna, and Isabella are all 1. Philip II, Maria, Christina are 1/2, Maximilian, Charles II, Anne are 1. Anne is 3/4, Maria Anna (1551-1608) is 1/2, William V is 1/2, Renata is 1/4. Philip III is 5/8, Margarita is 7/8, Ferdinand II is 7/8, Maria Ana (1574-1616) is 3/8. Philip IV and Maria Anna of Spain are 3/4, Ferdinand III is 5/8. Manana of Austria is 11/16. Charles is therefore [11/16 + 3/4]/2 which is 23/32. Hmm, only 72%, my ball-park sucked. (I thought Albert V was part of the family, but no, he wasn't.) Edit: I'm retarded, you're right. Anna isn't part of the family, FML. Charles V, Ferdinand and Isabella are 1, Isabella of Portugal, Anna, and Christian II are 0. Philip II is 1/2, Maria is 1/2, Maximilian is 1/2, Charles II is 1/2, Anne is 1/2, Albert V is 0, Chrstina is 1/2, Francis I is 0, Albert V is 0. Anne is 1/2, Maria is 1/4, William V is 1/4, Renata is 1/4. Philip II is 1/2, Margarita is 3/8, Ferdinand II is 3/8, Maria (1474) is 1/4. Philip IV is 7/16, Maria of Spain is 7/16, Ferdinand III is 5/16. Manana is 3/8. Charles is 13/32. Matching up with your calculations. Do these scrubs even Crusader Kings?
