  1. well if we go with the opus thing then no skill matters period because 720 base power is such a huge leap in damage that it makes everything useless. Why bother with any weapon skills when you're so strong it won't matter. Why bother with any of the character skills when you're dealing so much damage as-is? At that point may as well use armor break so you can see funny outfits occasionally.
  2. Might be leftovers from when they were first putting together her moveset, or felt her current moveset would be harder/weirder to dodge if the AI used it against you. Navarre & Lyn ssssort of got a similar treatment, where one of their combos was added to their NPC counterparts and changed to be much slower
  3. In my experience I get hit like once (to knock the armor off) and then usually not again. If I leave the unit a lone they'll usually take damage from however they determine off screen battles, but that doesn't count against you and is easy to patch up. It's really not a trap skill if you're half way decent at dodging or have kept on top of people. I'll often send, say, Azura into a crowd of units and come out of it pretty hit-free. The 50% drop on opponents is very worth it, especially if they're weirdly bulky
  4. The intent is to have them be lesser. Characters get more combos than Promoted get more combos than Base. Even if they had 3 combos, Characters would probably have 4 combos.
  5. People also like to bring in Armor Break because the 50% debuff is very useful and its uuuusually not too hard to avoid taking a hit (though swapping characters is always a gamble). Depending on your level, your opus'd weapons etc Topsy Turvy can be worthwhile on characters like Sakura. I also sometimes throw antitriangle on a weapon (Yato, Enliron, Hinoka's Spear) for variety's sake But honestly I just play it by ear based on what I have. Grinding weapons is such a pain unless your name is CAmilla or Minerva that I rarely bother so I'm missing easy access to Critical, Warrior & Pair Up+.
  6. gamefaqs has a topic on the % gains for using these types of things, by the way https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/204209-fire-emblem-warriors/76326825
  7. Brynhildr is probably meant to be dark, like Goetia & elise's dual special, but I want to take this moment to mention the silliest thing Fates did was make dark magic a sub class of magic like awakening did but limit it to Nosferatu and NOTHING ELSE. That doesn't really affect anything this topic brings up, just...it's really goofy. Anyway I wouldn't necessarily be surprised at Tharja being a Robin clone, arguably she's one of hte more fitting clones considering dark mages actually get access to all magic in the first place and also the whole "stalker" thing, but there's enough different spells (even non-dark) they could throw in if they REALLY wanted to. And linde using thoron in a totally different way from Robin shows they could use similar spells if it came down to it By the way, I expect Tharja to get Nosferatu as her awakening special just like Linde, regardless of her being a clone. It's a spell that changes wildly in its classification depending on the game, so it'd be a cute mirror of each other.
  8. It's pretty funny how they specify the dark magic thing considering he only uses dark magic in 2 attacks: his combo for Ruin and his awakening attack which is more of a grima reference. The rest of his moveset is either Thunder or explicitly every element. He even has rexaura for unknown reasons?! And also his signature tome is Thoron. Linde at least uses light magic in more: her strong attack, her first strong combo, her final strong attack (& arguably thoron, iguess), and all her specails are light magic or roughly equivalent (Aura, Nosferatu, Starlight).
  9. If it's just like...10 points, I'd say not bother. Your gains will be so marginal it can't be worth devoting a slot to compared with the usual suspects. Contrast with the +25% of Pair Up+ or the...whatever...Critical+ gives You know, we have things that swap magic & attack. And magic/res, attack/defend... I wonder if we're going to get something in the next pack that lets you swap Luck &/or Skill with something. Not necessarily with each other.
  10. I really liked that they turned Felicia into a monster and, while I know not EVERY kind of trash unit can get such a treatment, I'd like if they would keep doing that So units like Fir, Odin...actually most of the dagger units...but most importantly Gunter & Jagen. They had unique penalties because they were "Veterans", to simulate their roles in their games as being, uhhhh....Jagens. High starting base stats, but weaker than others by the end. I think the way the stat system worked means they don't get hit as hard as horse mages but it's still a couple BST difference. But still, those penalties are kind of useless and in this day & age you can't just arbitrarily release units like that. I mean even post-power creep Aran would still be arbitrarily weaker than other melee cavalry, you know? So these 2 will probably always be the only 2 in that stat line and they should get a new weapon & refinement each to help out. Not sure what weapons in particular Jagen could get (maybe an original creation since the only big important Archanea lance I can think of is the Gradvius) but Gunter could get the Aurgelmir. Also I like Gunter...he was the glue for my horse team until I got Titania and I still bring him out on other horse teams from time to time. As for characters who don't NECESSARILY need it, but would probably like it, how can I not mention Lilina getting something like Forblaze
  11. Her dragon state always gets yellow because her dragon state is her awakening
  12. 50% The twist is it only gives 50% on yellow gauges and never gives any during awakening. So everyone hoping for infinite Tiki is out of luck
  13. Linde/Marth support is great because its just Linde dragging Merric for his marth worship
  14. I hope, if there''s ever a sequel or enhanced edition or just big game update, that they do more things like Rampage Like what if Spellbane Yumi had Wing Slayer AND Tomebreaker (I'm aware the skill didnt come until the fates pack, stay with me here). What if each twin had something else mixed with beast slayer? Dragon slayer for Velzedark, for example. In general the weapons getting extra skills, even if they didn't in their originals, would have been nice. Wo Dao & Oboro's Lance (based on the killer naginata iirc) with Critical+. Aura with Warrior+. Yato with Pair Up+. And so on.
  15. Marth is just wearing a track suit under his armor. I swear I'e seen that exact outfit on runners around here before. They really should just let these be costumes you can equip
  16. Wowza, Wing Spear got a new unique ability to it to simulate the plate & mount slayer effect of the original: Rampage. It gives both slaying effects in one skill, so you can even give her another slayer on top of that. Really shoots her to the most valuable pegasus knight.
  17. probably that and also, it was kind of weird that there was this effectiveness system that you, the player, could only really take advantage of. Literally the only times to worry about it were bows and enemy falchion users. And depending on the map, the falchion users may not even have falchion.
  18. Oh nice nice nice One of the UI improvements was made on the map deployment screen. You can now change a unit's skills (!!!!), costume, and check their support level directly from the map! By the way, there's special enemy reinforcements that get effectiveness against other types. This level 20 master sael mission just had Paladins spawn with wingslayer weapons
  19. Gamefaqs is saying that Navarre has some different combo finishers from Lyn, but I'm not seeing any before promotion. Maybe I'm just not hitting the right combos. Linde is weird. Her standard string is pretty slow and I think she might have slower movement than Robin: she doesn't float around and that's throwing me off. Her specails are fun, though. Her dual special has her wield Starlight, which is fun.
  20. God, the Bond Blessing takes 30 silver materials (& 50k gold). That is a serious investment and I"m holding off on it until I hear how good it is.
  21. Taking a glance through the DLC maps. Map 1: Wo Dao (a level 45 shadow rush) & Wing Spear (Villager Rescue) are here. There's a bond charm on a low level mission right away, which is nice. Boss is level 85. Some low level missions scattered about, but seems less than in the Fates DLC. Lots of missions in their late 50s and reeching into the mid 60s, so i'm guessing reinforcements will be in the 70s. Map 2: First off its great that Xander is the villain stand in here. Much tougher spread of missions, very few early level ones, lots of things in the late 60s & 70s. The boss is level 85 but he's right next to a level 89 arena. I see scrolls for the Hauteclere & Divine Stone, but I'm not seeing the divine stone itself anywhere: probably in early reinforcements. Map 3: More uneven spread of levels, they're all over. Anna's Bow is unlocked out of a level 32 arena pretty early on, Aura's Scroll is a level 59 pincer escape. Lyn's swordmaster outfit is in a level 75 shadow rush, no unlocks or time distortions needed. Seems the boss is reinforcements. I think Shadow Rush (not elimination) & Villager Rescue are new. I think the Rush maps are always those timed "kill as many as you can" missions...dare we hope for grind spots?!
  22. Still digging around in their initial crests, but quick heads up: Minerva also uses pegasus crests (not too surprising), Linde needs knight materials and Navarre needs (sigh) Outlaw materials. Really hoping the DLC maps has a dedicated Outlaw map, they're by far the worst "normal" enemy to grind on since they usually only show up once in a given map and their best grind spot is an arena.
  23. Oh wow, the crest confirmation option is even better. It's not just turning off the "IS THIS ALRIGHT? <yes> SWEET SUCCESS!" voices, it removes the prompt entirely. Things go super fast now I think Minerva uses Marth and Linde materials, Navarre uses Marth & Caeda materials, Linde uses Gharnef & Minerva materials. AT least, before promotion.
  24. It's a shame minerva is a clone,...I really figured Linde would be the clone, not her. Now we'll get to go through this AGAIN in the awakening pack as we insessently argue on if Tharja will be a clone or not since Fates had 1 but SD has 2 clones By the way, Minerva's voice actor is really great! And her scarf looks really nice floating in the wind behind her. She & Linde both start with their legendary weapons like Azura did. 160 BP, no specil attributes (laaaame)
  25. Update is ready for download, but they put out trailers for the characters Linde is definitely not a clone, but Minerva seems to be which lol https://youtu.be/lidqnxMGzZg https://youtu.be/27E8V5fbUIk https://youtu.be/b-GIfSflW7E
