  1. It's actually not too hard to do this, I could help you out with this. Beta testing is porbably the easiest way to do this, but another way is to simply take samples of character stats and put them up against each other. For example suppose you have a knight and you figure out his average stats at some level that he would most probably be at by some chapter. Then you compare his stats to, say, myrmidons from that chapter and you find that he's doubling them all with like 6 plus AS then maybe you got a problem XD. My brother made me a bunch of excel documents that do these type of calculations (like hypothetical battles, averages stats and such), so using these would probably make testing a lot easier. EDIT: God I type slow @Seph1212: INORITE eyebrows FTW. Though, I figured the point of the whole armor/horse slayer thing was in the interest of making main characters a bit better simply because they are the main character. LOLFE1 marth though.
  2. Yeah, I guess I see your point. I was refering to some changes I made to the hair, like that part on her on her right that looked a bit flat. That and I changed some of the shading on her forehead. They were pretty small changes, so I guess it was no surprise that they weren't really noticable. Oh well, no harm done (I think).
  3. I know that's what I was getting at. It's kinda like Anna's eyebrows. I suppose. FE7 mugs aren't always consistent anyways. Take Sonia's eyebrows for example. :P I would imagine you would have to replace existing ones. Though, I don't think it would be too hard to do since you could just replace weapons/items that are unique to FE7. For example, you could take the rings, give them a staff icon and change their weapon type to staves. Though, I think the way those ring effects work is a bit wonky so I don't know if that would work in this case. Having said that I could also do PRF and S rank weapons, if you don't want to use what's already in FE7. There are plenty of other things you could replace to, like emblem weapons for example or whatever.
  4. I just gave it a try and it seems to be pretty well made. It's pretty true to the original (zero mission not the original metroid) difficulty wise, which is always a bonus with metroid hacks since some of them really aren't noob friendly. I like how they brough over some of the smaller features from zero mission like like one missile doors, being able to do a midair somersault by pushing a and and a faster rate of fire. Either way, if you're a fan of metroid, especially if you liked super more than zero mission, then you should give this hack a try. Nice find, Celice.
  5. Hah, never knew you could do that bike thing. Too bad you can't actually do that when there are enemies there. edge castle of death, whoo.
  6. Rebecca's got that weird highbrow thing going on in her original portrait too. Though, generally speaking her eyebrows are higher than what most mugs have, in both my edit and Rebecca's original mug. As for the fifth shade thing, lots of FE7 mugs use the fifth shade heavily. And I'm not talking about people with thick eyebrows either. But meh, it was a quick fix. Though I did change other things, you know. EDIT: BTW if you need weapon icons done for your hack I could do those too. I gave weapon icon spriting a try and I found it wasn't too hard to do. All this talk about eyebrow has made me realize that the eyebrows on that mug I just posted need some fixing.
  7. Oh, he beat me to it. Oh well, I gave it a whirl too. Ignore the stuff I did on the shirt. I tried to change it, but then I got lazy and gave up. One thing I noticed was that the cloak used the first skin color instead of the eye white so I added that.
  8. Indeed, it does look better. Finally got around to doing Isabel. I tried to keep the clothing the same, which I think I did an okay job on. I also tinkered around with her palette a bit. A question, though. I was wondering if there were any of your splices that you would rather not have remade? At first I was thinking of redoing all of them, but then I figured if you were okay with a splice then there is little point in remaking them.
  9. Well, lesse. The fighter and the brigand are both named Rollo, so your probably going to have to change one of their names, maybe somethin norwegian cause norwegian names are cool. The guy with the beard is named Vlad and the girl's name is Adele. I don't really mind if you change them, though.
  10. Fighter Brigand Wyvern rider Also, she looks nothing like a wyvern rider, but I imagine her as one anyways. These okay? Edit: Forgot to mention, but if you see anything else you need in my gallery you can use them, just ask first.

Two tutorials I just finished. One is on recoloring while the other is on basic splicing. I consider this a rough draft (for the splicing one). I thought maybe the way I placed the text and such might be a bit confusing. Any comments? Does anyone even care? Feel free to point out spelling errors or parts that sound confusing and you think I should rewrite or elaborate on. EDIT: it appears the second one has been squished. I'll try fixing it in a second. EDIT EDIT: Had to split it up into three images. Photobucket kept screwing up the quality because of the size.
  12. Her hair is too low at the moment. Raise it up one pixel. Also, the strand of hair on her left is a bit unnatural looking. That and there is a pixel right under her chin that is the same color as her second shade of hair. It doesn't really stand out much, but it's still a bit strange.
  13. I figured that was the morph's skin color, but I was too lazy to check Fair enough for CronoandMarle Randi and Purim. It's just that I remember Randi's hair being brighter colored ingame. No big deal, though. Spoiler for size Yellow: This pixel looks a bit strange. It should be the darkest shade. Green: This part is a bit too straight. Smooth out the line a little. Red: This part wasn't recolored. There also needs to be shading here where the hair touches the skin. Two purple boxes: This is just me nitpicking, but these pixels should be a shade lighter. Light blue: This part is a little bland. It needs to look like it has more seperate strands of hair. Not to sure how to word this, so if its unclear I can elaborate a bit. Dark Grey (At the top): This part is actually a problem with the original Fa mug, and it has always bugged me. Basically there's a lack of an outline there. You don't really have to fix it, but I always check for pixels that aren't the outline color that are touching the background. Really, that's mostly me just nitpicking; they're all pretty small issues except for the part inside the light blue. Hope that helps.
  14. Maklo approves of vampires. and is going to steal that skin tone. His head is very short as is. Heads are typically 48-55 pixels tall whereas his is only 43 pixels starting from the bottom of his chin. He would probably be a bit closer to 48 as his hairstyle would be quite short. Other than that and what Joe pointed out, I like it. There's a bit of pillow-shading on the shirt and the shading on her left arm is a bit weird. There also needs to be shading where here neck and the clothing meet (on her neck). Needs shading under her jaw. The lines under her eyes need anti aliasing. You might want to darken the third shade a bit. There also needs to be shading where her hair hits her clothing. I like the sprite though. Unfortunately for me I never got to play okami. O_O Coulda sworn Randi and the middle girl had different hair colors. Might want to split these ones up, though. You don't have to, but it would be easier to look at them. Though, I don't see anything wrong with them except with the pink haired guy/girl's (I don't remember) hair. Too lazy to explain right now though. Nice stuff so far, keep up the good work.
  15. Older Roy looks okay, except the third color of his cape needs to be darker. Same with the second color of his armor. The armor is okay as well, but it the trim has FE7 colors, while the outline appears to be FE8's outline color. It's better to stick to one games colors, especially if you are planning on putting them in a hack.
  16. They all seem to match their classes more or less. A few things though. they all seem to be using FE8's or a really dark outline, but FE7's skin colors. You should really just stick to one game's colors. Another thing is that there needs to be shading where hair touches clothing or skin. The first one has really googly eyes IMO, make them a bit smaller. Use someone like Kent as a reference. I like the concepts though, especially the female hero and the general next to her. They just need a bit of polishing to really make them shine.

And Keiran is finished. Sorry it took so long, I had one of those zany art slumps. You know the ones I mean.
  18. Oh you. Though, it could use some shading where his hair touches his clothing. BTW if you're wondering. I did start work on those mugs you asked for. Though, I've been a bit busy, so yeah, I didn't get much done.

^I assume you mean boyd, but yeah sure I can do both actually. Tibarn may take a bit longer, though, since I've never done wings before. One thing, though, would you prefer FE9 boyd or FE10? Just a heads up for anyone else. Three's the limit for now, I don't want to get swamped with requests. I'm glad you enjoyed my sprites by the way.

Not an actual sprite related update, but I didn't want to make a whole new topic for this. Recently, I have been considering putting together a very general spriting tutorial. Basically, I would assume the reader has never sprited or even opened MSpaint before. It would be geared towards absolute beginners. Chances are if you can do full customs this guide would probably be pretty useless to you. The main goal is for it to be as detailed as possible so that no question is left unanswered, for beginners anyways (hopefully). Though, I would like some feedback on the idea first. I know there might already be such a tutorial out already, but I think it would be neat for SF to have somehting of it's own. Plus it might attract more spriters to this forum, which would be nice. A couple of side notes though, if I was to make it, it would be geared more towards GBA-styled mugs with MSPaint as the featured tool. Another things is I actually already started it, but I'd like to get some feedback before I get too ahead of myself. It will also include pictures by the way. If you have any question or suggestions or whatever I would like to hear them. EDIT: forgot to mention. I already read the "Calling all spriters" thread, but I'd still like some up to date feedback first.
  21. Personally I find Rutger actually looks younger than Legault. If you want to make Legault look older you really don't need to give him a new face. You could probably just use his original mug and make it look older. A persons face doesn't change that much from once they're past their 20s. A good comparison is Erik. His face doesn't change that much between FE6 and 7. Though I guess that really depends on how many years have past in your hack. Slade's chin needs some anti-aliasing. It's also a bit mishapen or at least it seems odd to me. The colors on the mug for Claude_C_Kenny's hack need to be darkened a bit. He also only has one eyebrow. That's it for now I guess. I haven't thoroughly checked the rest though. Not too bad overall. They just need some polishing.
  22. Hey look it's Girl *cricket cricket* Anyways, it could probably look girlier, but oh well.
  23. ohohoho.. this looks like it'll be fun. I'm gonna give it a try. Hopefully more people will try this time.
