  1. Another unpopular opinion of mine would be that I dislike Ryoma and Xander. A lot. They come off to me as hypocritical and sort of dishonorable. At first, I thought Ryoma was going to be sort of like Sigurd, crazy powerful, noble, kind, and headstrong, but it didn't end up feeling that way. It started that way, but then I started to really dislike him when I played Conquest and Ryoma took medicine for Elise's illness and asked for Corrin and Azura to return to Hoshido or he'd let her die. And he planned on keeping Corrin alive, but intended to execute Azura, according to the vs. Ryoma lines. I get why his decision makes sense from a strategic point, but it felt like the game wanted him to look like the good guy, and that wasn't how to do it. I don't like his design either. That red headpiece he has on I find incredibly unappealing, and the game doesn't help his design when long hair is super ugly in Fates because it passes through everything (just reclass Azura, you'll see what I mean). His outfit is cool, and Shiro looks good in it, but the rest of Ryoma's design to me... meh. He also reminds me too much of Xander, which is extremely annoying because it means if they acted like rational human beings, they could sort everything out (that is, if Xander wasn't so unwilling to betray his cray-cray dad) Xander has an awesome design, but I cannot take him or Ryoma seriously after this dialogue in Chapter 6: They just ignore any possibility that there's an option outside of warfare. They also ignore the fact that just maybe, Corrin has no interest in killing his family. Woah. Crazy, right? The world building in this game is so poor we hardly even know why the countries hate each other so much or even why they're going to war besides ,"Rawr, King Garon hates happiness and wants land." And Xander for some reason is totally okay with that. I find him detestable because he is a coward to me. He gives in to his father's wishes because "he's the prince and he has to" even though Garon is clearly messed up in the head. Him and Leo (who I also dislike, but is admittedly much better written) are the last royals to join you because it took Xander so long to even notice his father was totally insane and clearly possessed. Xander has been going to war over and over again according to Azura, who says that war has changed him because of all the stress and exhaustion. If you're going to war that often, and you don't even know why, why would you keep doing it? It clearly doesn't benefit the country, which, by the by, is starving and getting nothing from these conquered land. So not only is Garon waging wars for funsies, he isn't serving his people in any way. The king is shirking his duties outside of warfare, the guards are not supervised (so we get Azura and Corrin being abused), the murderous prisoners are released for 'good behavior' and hired for imperial affairs (since when did Hans act 'good'?), and the list goes on. And Xander does not oppose that at all, even though, of all the siblings, Xander would have the best chance of taking the throne from Garon. His siblings, who are intelligently questioning why their father wants this, especially Elise and Camilla, would even help Xander, because they trust him and follow him faithfully. He has all of this respect and control, and yet he has zero interest in preserving his kingdom over keeping his father in power. Whyyyyyyyy...
  2. I'm trying to absorb all this discussion and it isn't working ;\ Sorry for the rant... As someone who is Christian (a Baptist, or at least, I try to be), I can say religion is sort of the issue. Because I've been taught that Christianity wasn't supposed to be labeled as a 'religion'. I know I'm going to get guff for saying the line "it isn't a religion, it's a relationship," but that's what it was intended to be, the Bible tells us that. Religion, to me, is a reinforcement of ideals by being surrounded by others with the same ideas and feelings toward religion as you. And church shouldn't just be that. It isn't a pool of beautiful, perfect people that all feel the same way about everything, that have experienced the same things and have never touched alcohol or had premarital sex or gotten a tattoo or a divorce. The people in a Christian church are there because, one way or another, they're broken. They need something to fill themselves with, and it shouldn't be sin, nor should it be the satisfaction of going to church, because, as nice as church is, it doesn't make you better than anyone else. That hole should be filled with the Lord, our savior Jesus, your love for him and his love for you, a personal relationship. The people surrounding you in a church should help you acknowledge that something is missing, not show you that no one is interested in what you're going through and that you shouldn't show up in a messy t-shirt and ripped jeans because for the fourth night in a row you're hung over and want help. Being 'religious' to me is sticking with the rules laid out for you. And that's fine and dandy, but the purpose of Christianity is to go to God and tell him that you are faulty. No one is blameless, perfect, or sinless except Jesus Christ, so don't pretend like you are, because that makes you a hypocrite. It also discourages people who don't yet understand that it's okay to have sinned, because all they see is people who are 'perfect' and that makes them feel worse, not better. And the worst part of it all is that all people get to see anymore is what the church does wrong. For example, how much media coverage was given to the pastor of that megachurch that didn't let anyone inside after the hurricane in Texas? And how much coverage was given to the hundreds of people that came from thousands of miles away, from their homes and their families, to help people that were knee-deep in water without expecting anything in return? The media attention is not equivalent, and the reason for that is because news outlets focus on bad news, because, unfortunately, the brain concentrates on bad news. It warns us of danger naturally, so whenever there's a chance to air bad news, bad news is aired. Anyway, back on topic, I don't believe that religion should hold back science, nor do I believe that it does anymore (I mean, maybe I just haven't seen any examples, but I really have not seen anything that is religiously based and actively fighting against progress that isn't widely ignored). It used to be that people would just get mad because "it doesn't say in the Bible that the Earth isn't the center of the universe" and then they'd arrest somebody who thought that the sun was the center of the universe. But it obviously isn't like that anymore (thank goodness), so no matter how much some backwards religious fanatic wants to say the Earth is flat, it won't make a difference, because we aren't sheep anymore (I guess that is arguable, but that's besides the point). I think if you looked at the basis of what religion should be, there wouldn't be so many Atheists who have decided it is their purpose on this planet to destroy religion at every opportunity. But instead, the loudest voices on religion are the ones that are actively defying what their religion wants from them. Whether it's the megachurch I just mentioned that said they weren't prepared (just let them in and then figure out how to help them outside of sheltering them) or it's the Westboro Baptist Church that spreads hate like crap on a crap sandwich (UGGGHHHH NOT A CHURCH AND NOT OKAY), that's a result of a slowly evolving "I am going to see what happens if I twist words here... or maybe here... for my benefit." But that isn't the source material. That's humans doing what they do, making sinful, selfish decisions. Religion is responsible for more bad than good, but that's because we're human beings and we don't follow rules like robots. We make decisions that benefit us, and that screws up the basis of religion.
  3. Hmm... I want to say that Tana's jam would be something pop and girly, something that would get on Innes' nerves... Shake It Off, maybe? I think Python would dig the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Under the Bridge would be something he could sink his teeth into. Charlotte would pretend to like slutty rap/pop like Kesha and Pitbull's Timber, but in reality, she might enjoy something like classic rock. I can see her headbanging to Gimme' Shelter by the Rolling Stones. Setsuna acts like a deadhead (a fan of the Grateful Dead, just so everyone knows :/ ) in almost every way. I wonder if pot would even do anything to her, she seems like she can't get any more mellow. Anyway, Setsuna seems like a lover of the song Candyman. Florina? Um... I think Florina would like whimsy, soft singers. Jasmine Thompson, A Fine Frenzy, Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Calliat, or Regina Spektor... I think Florina would love You Picked Me by A Fine Frenzy or Bubbly by Colbie Calliat. Dorothy sticks with the basic stuff. She doesn't want to hunt for music, it's hard and she's not interested enough. She'd pick something that is always playing in stores and resteraunts, something that has an sweet and positive message, possibly with a little 'tude to spice things up (though Dorothy really isn't one for spicing things up). Sara Bareilles' King of Anything or maybe Andy Grammer's Keep Your Head Up.
  4. FE4- A dark story that feels like it has weight to it. Can't choose on gameplay between weapon repair, character exclusive skills, or holy blood... FE6- Sympathetic villain. Gameplay-wise, secret shops. FE7- Multiple protagonists. Magic triangle (bring monks back pleaaaaaaaaaassssssseeeeee) FE8- Story-wise, not a big fan. Gameplay-wise, Branching promotions. FE9- Kidnap Kita Senri The worldbuilding in FE9 was great. And for gameplay, bonus experience. FE10- Don't let Kita Senri leave Multiple perspectives on conflict is awesome. And for gameplay, different victory conditions is cool. FE13- Story-wise, I liked having the avatar around. Supports were my favorite in this game, but I also like the length of the campaign and the constant spotpass updates, as well as the streetpass stuff that Awakening had and the avatar, so I can't really choose on gameplay. FE14- I don't really like a whole lot of Fates, but the branching paths thing was cool. Gameplay? Probably the fact that luck actually mattered. FE15- I did not like Echoes' story at all. Gameplay-wise, I liked how villagers worked in that game.
  5. I kind of agree with you here. I liked it, but I just have no interest to keep playing. It's my brother's copy, so when he got obsessed with it, I stopped playing at around act IV so he could play on his cartridge. Then, when he beat the game, he offered to let me finish. But I had zero motivation to go back to it. It feels so dated, and there is not enough character interaction, in my opinion. For example, Catria only has two supports, and they're with Est and Palla, her sisters :\ Not a single support outside of her own family. And Sonya and Genny both only have one conversation, which is with each other. That really bugs me because they didn't flesh out Genny's relationship with her friends at all, but they decided to make someone so shy meet someone totally new? Not to mention that a lot of the supports aren't very good and don't change how you view the characters involved. And then there's the poor replay value, which the lack of supports contributes to. There's lots of DLC, but nothing else once the game is over. You can grind up your units and go to Arachnea, which is cool, but to me it's the equivalent of the Rayquaza hunt in ORAS, it took very little time, wasn't very entertaining, and left you wanting to play something else. And just thinking about making a new save file in SoV makes me tired, whereas in Awakening and Fates, I ran out of save slots because I wanted to read different conversations and play on different paths and difficulties. A lot of people say they like how similar to Gaiden SoV is, but to me, that just makes it feel old when it shouldn't feel that way. Not nearly as old as Gaiden, that isn't fair, but Awakening and Fates feel much more fresh than Echoes.
  6. Yeah, Fates RNG is not friendly, and without reliable luck, you may as well just ignore what the hit rate says. My Arthur consistently got 80-90% hit rates, but he never hit anyway. And Kagero doesn't have skill or luck, so you were just blessed by RNGesus. Her skill is 40%, which is okay, and her luck is 30%, which is not too great. Kaze's personal skill is okay. I know it's not bases on his luck stat. I never found it helpful because my Kaze was usually the lead on his pair ups, he was my debuffer for a while, I couldn't afford to have him be the one supporting, especially in Conquest. When he was needed for support, he was consistently supporting Selena, who didn't really need the help from Miraculous Save. I can see the skill has a use, I just never utilized it, and I'd rather have a skill that is sure to activate or is passive and helps other units.
  7. I diagree here. Kaze has never pulled through for me, his strength isn't enough. Not only that, but Kaze's luck ruins his nice skill. His personal skill has not helped me once. His speed is nice, and occasionally I reclass him and he turns out okay, but reclassing isn't what we're talking about. In his base class, Kaze is not good. Kagero's skill and luck are poor. I mean, she's an excellent ninja, but unfortunately, her HP and Defense growths mean if she gets hit, she's screwed, and her luck is only 10% higher than Kaze, meaning she doesn't dodge as often as she should either. She is actually the worst, in my opinion, because she dumps everything for strength and speed, so she can't hit accurately, can't be hit without dying, and is locked to shurikens, which means low damage output even with her high strength, meaning there is little reason to care about her high strength. Saizo has always been my favorite because he's balanced. While Kaze hits like a wet tissue and can't get hurt without instant death, and Kagero is in a class that doesn't allow her to reach full potential because her very high strength is stuck in a class with a low strength cap, not to mention she has awful bulk like Kaze and has more trouble hitting than Kaze does with his crappy luck because both her skill and luck are lower, Saizo has zero accuracy issues, comes with a servicable strength stat, can actually use the Flame Shuriken (he has a magic growth, fun for reclassing, but that's besides the point), and has bulk to survive hits. He has none of the weaknesses of the other two, because his survivability, accuracy, and defensive capabilities are all superior to theirs. Saizo's personal is terrible and his resistance is bad. He's the slowest of the three of them, but that doesn't mean a whole lot when he's still got a 55% in speed. Not to mention he has good bases and hilarity ensues with a barb shuriken and that 80% skill, which is supported, not lowered, by the class he starts in, while Kagero has to work with a low strength cap and Kaze has to try and grow in strength in a class with one of the lowest strength growths of the physical classes. His modifiers work in favor of his class.
  8. Haha, didn't catch that Garon thing XD Which is surprising because I always catch mistakes like that. Um, I just wanted to say: I love Miriel, but she is a little flat. That's part of the point, though, she is socially inept and her supports should feel weaker because she doesn't connect with anyone. She even has trouble admitting romantic feelings in S rank supports, which is a breath of fresh air to me because I feel like the 3DS FE games are just breeding grounds or something. Ew. And I also think the Arachnea games are just... old and boring. I get the same vibe from them as I do the Kanto Pokemon games. I've played newer games that have the same features, but improved, and it makes the older/original game feel so cripplingly ancient that I just don't want to play it. And that isn't to say I don't like some of the characters, I personally like Jeorge and Linde a lot (mostly because of Heroes, but still), but there are things that I have been spoiled with in newer games, like supports and the weapon triangle, basic things that make me think "I'm playing Fire Emblem." And Arachnea doesn't have those things :/

  10. I really liked Weapon repair in FE4. I like weapons having limited durability, and I don't like almost every weapon in the game being nerfed because they don't break (Fates -_-). Weapon repair would mean you have to choose what weapons to repair (don't make it cheap), sparingly use the weapons that are rarer and more powerful/more expensive to repair (Ex. Sigurd's silver sword), and have fun using awesome and useful weapons that don't deserve to be nerfed to oblivion (R.I.P. Nosferatu). I miss the magic weapon triangle because I love monks. A lot. And it meant all magic types got somewhat equal representation. Instead of the single dark magic spell in Fates (which sucked hard). Dismounting sounds like fun, but I've never played a game with dismounting in it, so... or at least, I haven't gotten to Part 2 in Genealogy where they do that (is it Genealogy that does it first? I have no idea.) Special staves are fun, but some status staves I would like to never see again. In other words, staves like warp and freeze are fun, but sleep? Screw sleep. And beserk was super annoying. Weapon weight and constitution. I don't mind strength being what determines what weapons you can carry, but I like constitution better. It means that you can't get RNG screwed and never lift a feather without being weighed down (like Soren). It also means that there is more of a downside in using more agile units. Bonus experience was super helpful for units that needed a few level ups to become relevant. Canto, but not after attacking, like in Genealogy. That was extremely frustrating. More like GBA canto. Reaver weapons. Those were fun. I'd like to see armors have full control of the weapon triangle again if they're going to have such low mov. I actually really liked how SoV handled archers. Good villains would be nice. Like not-Garon, not-Validar, and not-Anankos, for example. Zephiel, Ashnard, Reinhardt, and Nergal were all good in my book. I'm not really a fan of 3rd tier classes, but if it means less useless pre-promotes, I'm all for it. I really liked Gunter, actually, I wish he wasn't such hot trash as a unit.
  11. I agree with you on Nowi. Her supports I actually really like, especially her and Nah's. Nowi can be mature, but she'd rather make others feel better by being the optimist. She appears childish, but she actually takes things like an adult, which is shown in Tharja's support with her, and in Gregor's, she displays a selfless nature when she gives him a sweater of her dragon scales. She is also an incredibly good unit, if a bit tough to raise up and a little risky to use because you can't buy dragonstones for a while. But Ricken... I just... I can't handle Ricken. If I wanted a weaker Miriel with extra defense, I'd use Tharja. But I don't. He reclasses into physical classes with a 30% strength growth and a base strength of 3, so have fun getting him skills :\ The fact that he comes with wind magic and thinks that he can rescue Maribelle from the king of Plegia's army with it, I can't fathom how one would possibly be intelligent and still come up with that. He disobeys Chrom to try and prove to him that he is good enough to be a shepherd even though he's not, he's like 12 or something, and he doesn't even meet up with the group so he can say, "Sorry, I'm here, you have to use me," instead, you go directly to Maribelle and put yourself in a corner on high ground. Against the Plegians, the country of people that is led by Gangrel, the crazy, bloodthirsty monster who starts wars for funsies. No. Just no.   12. I apologize for this rant :\ It's rant-y. I really dislike how they made exceptions to their Shadow Dragon/Fates/Awakening rule just to add two more magic/sword characters into the game (Celica and Lyn), and they have many sword characters, of which I doubt are going to feel different from each other (In Hyrule Warriors, to me it felt very repetitive no matter what character you picked). So to not only do that, but have zero knights and zero regular cavaliers is... dumb to me. What was so hard about putting in Cain and Abel, exactly? If we're okay with so many sword-using infantry units (Marth, Chrom, Lucina, Lyn, Ryoma, Rowan, Lianna, and to an extent Celica, Robin, and Corrin), then what harm does an iconic sword cavalier do if he's added in the game? I mean, there aren't even interesting picks. The weirdest ones were Tiki and War Cleric Lissa. And they're in unique classes, which is cool, but they're it. There are no dark mages, no lancers, no sages, there are no kinshi or merchants, no griffons or tricksters, not a fighter to be found, not even a mercenary in a game with a million sword users, there is almost no class diversity in the game. And why is it that they added Lyn, but not Hector? If Hector has a weapon type that is only used by Frederick and Lissa, both of which are not similar combat-wise to him, why would they not include him, and then include her? Is it because she's the poster-child for FE7's first 10 chapters? Or is it because she's popular? Both of those points shouldn't matter when: 1. There are too many sword users and 2. Hector may not be as popular (for some reason), but he still has lots of fans and is unique in comparison to (again) the mass of myrmidon characters. I feel like Nintendo is going to abuse the weak point they have found in the FE fanbase: an absolute adoration of certain characters to the point of dumping mass amounts of money into purchasing a lackluster game and spending tons of cash on downloadable content and microtransactions. I mean, they didn't expect Super Mario Run to be beaten out by Heroes, and since it has done that by a large margin, Nintendo is milking this for all that it's worth, which makes perfect sense. So naturally, they left out things that really should be there so that we, as fans, will kill our wallets to gain characters that should have been there in the first place, like a basic cavalier (CAMUS WHYYYYY, Sully, Stahl, Cain, Abel, Silas) or a knight (Benny, Effie, Kellam, Draug). I wanted this to be better than Hyrule Warriors, but really, the only reason I think this is better is because I like FE better. The Warriors series is just super boring and repetitive and I don't see why Nintendo has shown so much interest in partnering with the franchise. It feels like such a cash grab.
  13. I assumed he was just talking about Awakening :\ I mean, Myrms can be good, but they aren't the best. Personally, I think the Hero class is the best in the series, they're flexible, fairly evasive, have good skills, do a good amount of damage, don't have any accuracy issues, and pretty much anybody with a decent strength stat can be reclassed into Hero and perform well. Not to mention mercenary characters are usually very good in general. With a single pair of boots, they are simply better than most units.
  14. I can't tell, because 16 is the level in Hector's story where you get Lyn, and there's only one chapter 16 listed as well. The boss is listed as Bauker, so I know it's the level I'm looking for, but I can't tell which mode it's in :\ Does it matter, or does it edit both modes when you edit the level? I apologize if that's a dumb question, again, I'm totally new to this.
  15. So, I've been hacking FE7, and I got to chapter 15, but I can't locate chapter 15 in the nightmare modules.There is one 15, and it is the Hector mode chapter 15. It isn't marked with an H, and there isn't an E15 either. This chapter in Eliwood's story is where you get Lyn's party back, and I want to put their palettes back to the way I set them when they enter, but I can't find the chapter? Can anyone help me here? P.S. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm sort of a noob.
  16. I agree with you here. Effie's lines in Echoes are so annoying. Literally all of it is about food, crushing things, or Elise (and she only mentions Elise in one line, and the line still manages to be about food). Effie doesn't even mention once why she cares about Elise so much, not even a sliver of an idea. Just food and crushing things. Some Fates characters bug me too, like Felicia (when you summon her, she literally stops herself mid-sentence to say "whoops, dropped my tea tray" -_- ) and Hana (her constant Let's train, let's explore, train, explore kind of reminds me of a chihuahua). I can also say Heroes has the opposite effect on some other characters, especially characters that had harder-to-get supports. Personally, I have never used supports in battle knowingly outside of Awakening and Fates, nor have I tried to see the conversations because they are harder to set up, so to hear characters like Serra say, "I'm here! Lucky you!" in her snobby voice; that just is awesome. The voice work in Heroes is top notch, and some characters just speak to me more as characters than units in Heroes, unlike their homegame. Some of my personal favorites were Fae (Guess what? ...That's what! Haha), Sheena (I have often been called... stubborn), and Luke (Who wants to be a leader? Not me- all work, no glory.).
  17. I read all of them in order to argue here XD And I liked Libra, and I knew that he was a deep character, but the only time I got to see it was when I married him to Tharja one time. Today, after reading his conversations, he may be one of my favorite characters in the series. I had no idea he was so interesting.
  18. I don't know why you wouldn't choose normal time progression over the other two options. I mean, at least time travel was relevant to the story, the deeprealms... no. Just no. It really is just child abuse, tossing your kid in another dimension for safety and then hardly visiting them because every time you show up they've grown a foot and have a deeper dislike for you because you're never there. And the deeprealms, are they even safe? It seems all too easy to escape, and once you have, you're unarmed in a world you know nothing about. It's the equivalent of tossing a newborn baby into a bunker with all the rations they'll need for 18 years and occasionally sending them a postcard.
  19. What... who hurt you? In all seriousness, a one-note character Libra is not. Actually, almost none of his supports revolve around his androgynous appearance. The only ones that do are Virion's and sort-of Sully's. In his supports you learn: His parents thought he was possessed by a demon and abandoned him, and he may have been abused by them, as in his supports with Nowi, he states that he held his mother so tightly that she gave him a scar forcing him off. He possibly has depression, as he has serious issues with self-loathing and internal hatred of his decisions, his creations, like his art in his supports with Robin, and even his purity, which he questions the legitimacy of. He wonders often if the path of the clergy is where he belongs, and he tries his hardest not to see himself as a hypocrite when he's healing with one hand and killing with the other. He tells Sully, "I cannot help but feel I'm merely skilled at playing such a figure. I worry that my entire person is an act. A hollow shell." He tells Gaius that when he prays for his safety, he is also essentially praying for the defeat and death of the enemy, which he sees as sinful. Libra is skilled at teaching Naga's gospel, as shown in his conversations with Miriel, who attempted to increase the amount of attendees to Libra's religious gatherings, but he still does not have the confidence to stop Miriel because he doesn't have true sureness in himself. He also serves other people out of a need for self-satisfaction. He is constantly doing charitable things and being everyone's shoulder to cry on in order to feel better about himself, and he acknowledges that he can have selfish motives, like when he said he would volunteer for Tharja's new hex, but for his own benefit. He helps at orphanages, he teaches people to pray and how to serve the gods, he openly admires people's good qualities without looking for their faults, and has almost endless patience despite the fact he has every reason to hate the world, and yet, he gives to it freely and constantly, regardless of his innermost feelings. And reading all of Libra's supports and writing these paragraphs just made me appreciate him further. The writing team could have just left Libra at "man who looks like a woman." They didn't, though. They made a character with a dark background, a true servant's heart, and what appears to be a debilitating case of self-loathing. They did that instead of the supports being generic "haha ,look it's a dude that looks like a girl, let's see how every character reacts to that" conversations, and I am sincerely entranced with an FE character just for their character, which honestly has not happened before for me.
  20. I absolutely love pegasus knights. I have a principle that states I will never do an FE run-through without a pegasus knight. I've used Florina, Thany, Fury, Hinoka, Subaki, Sumia, Cordelia, Tana, and in FE4, I haven't gotten to the second gen yet, but I have sacrificed Ced's growths to get the best Fee I could (Lex!Fee looks really good). Even when I can't get the class to work out for the character (like Subaki), I always treat them like they are my precious children and reclass them to perfection (Master of Arms Subaki is amazing). I also really like snipers, because I admire most archer characters (with the exception of Takumi and Virion) and there aren't many enemy units that can counterattack archers and hit once you've trained them. Setsuna, despite being a horrible unit, holds a special place in my heart just because I find her absolutely hilarious. Honorable mentions: Assassins (swordmasters are cool, but Awakening was the first game I played, and swordmasters were nothing in comparison to assassins), heroes (never have I gotten a hero that can't pull their own weight and then some), and monks (Lucius is a lifesaver on FE7, screw Erk and Canas, Lucius is seriously the best magic unit in that game, and I like Artur much better than Lute as well)
  21. I doubt this is true. I agree with you here, if this is true, I will be a little annoyed, the idea of a vampire/gothic setting in FE kind of puts me off. The franchise has been built in one period, in one setting, for a long time, and even though it has stayed the same, I think it's better that way, considering how well it fits.
  22. Yeah, I understand that. If there is a remake of Genealogy, or another game that uses large maps, this is what I would do to fix the issues: Less cavaliers in general: If there are less horseback units, you can't abuse their movement and your group can move as a whole. Not having the map quite as big: I like big maps, but Genealogy was way overboard with that, it takes far too long to traverse the map (maybe warping between captured castles so that units with low mov. could transport to the next castle quickly) More road spaces: It would make sense for there to be roads to the castles, or at least close to them, which would make things go a lot faster, especially if they changed roads to give more movement to infantry and not to horses, or if roads were the only spaces that didn't penalize the movement of mounted units. Less reinforcements: One of the problems with large maps is that you spend so much time traveling, and then a horde of enemies comes up from behind and quickly heads toward your home castle, marking the end of the map if you cannot catch them and kill them in time. With less annoying reinforcements to storm your castle randomly, or at least a warning that they're coming, it'll be easier to divide and conquer, as well as protect your home castle. It isn't the idea of big maps that was the issue, it was how they handled it. Other frustrating things, like needing a castle and money to spare to transfer items, sort of made the giant size of maps even more irritating because to do even simple things meant getting to a castle. Obviously that would need to be remedied as well, but like I said, the map size wasn't really the problem.
  23. Actually, I am wrong. Battle Saves are in Genealogy, I just never noticed. Then I actually agree with @I'm a Spheal, I see no issues with gigantic maps.
  24. I think the reason Genealogy is more tolerable is because we have emulators that let us constantly save. Genealogy's massive maps meant, for those who didn't have the luxury of an emulator, if you messed up and a unit died, you;d have to do everything again. Which, to me, sounds like horrible torture that no one should have to endure.
  25. You're totally right about the puffy faces. I couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about the portraits, but that is definitely it. I don't want to laugh at this, but it's just so accurate XD
