They've actually talked quite a bit about the release on their Discord, and currently the beta is out with testers. They basically had to rebuild the game from the ground up because the original version of SRPG studio the game was built in didn't support English, but the updated version broke a lot of the game.

The release date for the game is some time this month, assuming the beta doesn't highlight any huge issues.

I feel its worth pointing out that the post you linked to has been taken down. Dangen's rebuttal can be viewed here: https://medium.com/@dangen_ent/official-rebuttal-to-dangen-entertainment-warning-6dec06ae1977

A second warning was today and an article from US Gamer was published on Friday. Kaga really, really got unlucky to end up with this publisher of all things.

  3. Though Fates may not be the best of the bunch and on the lower end of the series for me, I strongly appreciate it for what it was trying to do. I really want to see IntSys revisit Fates at some point with the right creative talent and minds behind the wheel to give the story concepts the game it deserves. There’s a lot of potential in pitting an East Asian-themed kingdom with a European one that wasn’t quite used for the final product, in particular.

That Medium post reads like it was ripped straight off of reddit.

I wouldn't be surprised if mismanagement was holding up Vestaria Saga's release, though.

Might be the case; mismanagement at the top most certainly trickles all the way down. Either way, this whole mess of incompetency really puts a damper on things. Shame poor Kaga ended up partnering with a publisher that has mismanagement problems and severe allegations of misconduct and screwing over and not paying developers.

Considering how Dangen is publishing and localizing Vestaria Saga, this definitely does not look good, especially when you consider that Kaga released Vestaria Saga for free in Japanese and the English localization costs money. The receipts are pretty damning and is absolutely not a good outlook. Mods, I apologize if this is not the right place to post.

For a bit of background, a few days ago, developers of the game Devil Engine, a game published by Dangen, accused them of not paying them. And just yesterday, the Medium article was published with accusations and receipts.

One has to wonder if the reason we haven't heard much about Vestaria Saga's international release was because of this.

As for what the remake WAS, I agree with Mangs' recent video it was probably Binding Blade. Echoes' director named dropped it specifically so it's hard to argue that's what the plan would have been at that time. Even if we ask what they'd make now, skipping ahead to Elibe still feels like a very real possibility

Kusakihara is not just the Echoes director, but also the Three Houses director. I would imagine he was also overseeing the remake of whatever game it was.

    What Imran Kahn mean exactly?

There was a 3DS remake of a Fire Emblem game that was recently cancelled by Nintendo. Imran thinks there is a possibility that it might come to Switch, especially in light of Furukawa’s comments.

  7. Now this is interesting. Imran Khan, a member of Kinda Funny Games and a former senior editor of Game Informer, revealed in a recent Kinda Funny podcast that several 3DS games in the works, one of which is another remake of a Fire Emblem game, was cancelled by Nintendo due to middling sales of the 3DS Bowser's Inside Story re-release (that sold only 11,000 copies in the first month. YIKES!). However Imran feels that the remake (as well as the other cancelled 3DS projects) could possibly come to Switch.

    The statement in question:

    Quote

“Like, I know there was another Fire Emblem remake in the works for 3DS and that was one of the things that like they shuttered. So maybe that’s one of the things they’ll bring forward in the future.”

Given that Koei Tecmo did most of the work on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, one has to wonder if the rest of the staff at IntSys was working on this cancelled remake. In addition, the fact that Nintendo cancelled several 3DS projects lines up with what Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently stated about "bringing 3DS games to the Switch courtesy of the Lite."

Well, my question is if Ionius IX was actually a tyrant, rather than benevolent figure in Edelgard's perspective.

If we took Lysithea's words, it seems Ionius IX was overly brutal in suppressing rebellion since she claimed he had the whole family killed and had massive civilian exiled.

Ionius IX had House Hyrm wiped out completely in the rebellion. He then punished House Ordelia for their role in the rebellion by having key members of Lysithea's family killed and replaced by figureheads for the Empire, effectively damaging Ordelia's power in the Alliance. However, unbeknownst to Ionius IX, the figureheads he put in power were secret members of TWSITD, and those members proceeded to experiment on House Ordelia's children. Lysithea's parents, like Ionius IX himself post-Insurrection, were powerless to stop the Crest experimentation. It's implied that House Ordelia's experimentation was done to make sure it could be done on the Empire's royal family later.

  10. The Hyrm Rebellion and the Insurrection of the Seven were responses to Ionius IX's attempts to centralize power. Unlike House Hyrm's attempts to leave the Empire from Ionius IX's rule, the Insurrection was successful and reduced Ionius IX to a powerless figurehead (think Part II Arvis) controlled by the nobles (Ferdinand's father, PM Duke Aegir, basically became de-facto ruler). Because he had virtually no power, he was unable to stop the Crest experimentation that would leave only one of his children (Edelgard) alive and well to take the throne (Lord Arundel was one of the nobles who spearheaded the Insurrection).

  11. Do bear in mind that the reason they decided to do Echoes was because they needed to work on something because the Switch wasn't ready for developers to work on just yet.

    Quote

Hitoshi Yamagami (Fire Emblem series producer, Nintendo EPD Group No. 1): After the completion of Fire Emblem: Fates (from now on, just Fates)’s development, I started thinking of a game for the Nintendo Switch. However, it was still too early to begin development of titles for that system. While thinking of what to do, several people from Intelligent Systems approached me saying: “There are many things we could not do in Fates [that we wish we could have]. We wish to implement them in a remake for Gaiden.” Gaiden had not been featured much up until now, and I figured if we got started on development at that time, we would be able to release the game before the new Nintendo Switch would come out. So, we began development.

  12. Edelgard is the result of combining Dany, Arvis, Walhart, and Lelouch into one character. And I love it.

Overall, regardless of how you view Edelgard, she is one of, if not, the most intriguing Fire Emblem character we've got in a very long time, and feels more like a character that could have easily been crafted up by Kaga. The fact that her morals aren't as clear cut in my opinion only makes the character more intriguing to discuss.

Just wanted to put some thoughts here. It's kinda funny, because if a patch does happen, any and all of 1.0 Bylad's grunts are already all on Youtube.  And it's not like it's going to make the whole thing disappear, there's going to be comparison videos of the two. The files exist on all the current printed copies.

It's interesting from a business perspective, cause Nintendo and Cup of Tea can do a delisting of a credit without issue, because they hire non-union voice actors for very cheap.

As a comparison, Sean Schemmel (Funimation's Goku) was paid only $600 for Lucario in Smash 4, and they reused the clips. Resulting in his distaste about voice acting as a career.

So yeah, overall it's all "meh".  Only reason Nintendo is doing this is because people cried about it, and it's not that much of an issue in cost.  But on the other hand, it's people being unable to separate art from the artist, and getting in a frenzy over a few one-liners and some grunts/yells.

Niosi was in hot water because he broke NDA, which is a huge no-no for many Japanese companies (Nintendo is infamous/notorious for cracking down hard on such violations). The accusations only dump fuel on the flame.

It's a problem because when the game made me make those "huge decisions", I was flailing around blindly because I had no idea what the choices meant or why I'd choose them even if I did. That was an obscenely frustrating experience, and then when the game jumped straight to world domination, I felt like I had completely lost the memo of why we were doing it. And then the time skip happened with almost no consequence, almost like a shoehorned in excuse to get them older.

If you didn't see the red traffic light before the accident, there's not much I can really add to this conversation here.

I understand far more now about the conflict than I did at the time of the decision, which is the main problem

I don't see that as a problem. I think it makes for a rewarding experience, especially when you do the other routes.

With your response in mind, I think your issue with the game has more to do with you taking issue with the character of Edelgard rather than the decision itself.

I should know enough to at least think I understand what's going on before I sign on to any faction. And my question was more if the game would have made more sense and had better pacing if I didn't get that decision the first time through.

Honestly for me, the decision to side with either Edelgard or the Church isn't as ham-fisted as you make it out to be. I am going to side with @Velth that the dialogue, outlined direction of characters, and other tidbits made it very clear that such a decision would arrive.

Let me also make sure, where does the game not make sense for you? The characters and or their arcs? The decision of the player? The overall story?
