  1. I mean if the Avatar is already S with Lissa how can I not call upon the advent of ODIN DARK Owain as a dark mage/ Sorcerer.
  2. This bugged me in your earlier post as well, and I have finally done a thorough enough google search that I think I have found the answer. In the older game stat changing moves have a 25% (technically 64/256) of failing when used by the ai on top of their normal accuracy check (side note string shot has 95% accuracy, although Growl has 100%) Careful there, you don't want to accidentally invoke rule 35.
  3. I don't think so, or at least I couldn't find any reference to it while combing the scripts on the main site.
  4. That 20 extra crit is going to get used on each attack stance the Berserker helps with too, and above 50% crit rate killer weapons (or Beruka's axe if you are really digging even deeper for crits) with Berserker strength are murderously large amount of damage even when halved, and easily turn chips into kills. Plus the growth rates and strength cap of Berserkers is nothing to overlook either, it may seem overkill on the attack, but not on the attack stance. I think you are overvaluing the risks associated with their low crit evade. Units with great attack stance potential like that tend to end up in the middle of formations, so unless you aren't killing enough player phase or really messed up your positioning, neither of them should face many enemy phase attacks (unless you want them to), and you control the situation with any player phase attacks. Plus if crit avoid is something you worry about unduly, having Percy fixes any issue with Charlotte, although Arthur would need special attention to really fix, like using bronze to make his attacks and trade swapping to real weapons for attack stances, or a dodge oriented support as well; I suppose you could use those on Charlotte instead of Percy, but he is far easier (and her crit evade might be enough anyway). As for Arthur's personal you are right, its main use is against bosses (which is very niche) and even in the pre-silver weapon part of the game it is severely weakened by its inability to aid in ranged attack stances (one of the better uses of that high crit rate, as a lot of unit's ranged options are mediocre and in need of that extra oomph from a good attack stance). Arthur is far less usable than Charlotte but not as unusable as you make it seem If you dump numerous stat booster, ludicrous money on forges, reclassing items, and skill buying, you can also make any of the Conquest crew into more viable units. Those resources in Conquest and those that make units more viable in Mystery of the Emblem could be used better elsewhere (and before you start talking about trading star orb shards or more likely the star orb between units just before level ups I will point out how you would then be forced to keep your flyers and cav going the same pace as an armour unit you want to be viable). Plus none of that will fix the problem with the four bishop with the most useless join time in the entire series.
  5. I think you may be undervaluing the +20 crit rate of the Berserker class. If may be hard to get them to that point, but a trained Berserker is a terrifying, and both Arthur and Charlotte work well in that class. Arthur having high skill growth combined with a personal skill that removes the crit dodge of anything below 30 luck lets him reliably hit stupidly large crit rates, while Charlottes higher speed lets her double a lot of foes, and having roughly 50 crit isn't hard to accomplish (and against female bosses she can hit ludicrous numbers, like a 100% crit rate against Hinoka is possible with the right support and a nearby Arthur to drop her crit avoid). As for hit rates there are a lot of options in Conquest to help fix it: Benny's person skill reducing enemy avoid by 10 within 2, Corrins supportive adding an extra 10 hit rate when attack stancing with him, at least 3 units that starts with Heartseeker's ability to drop adjacent enemies avoid by 20, +10 with a basic attack stance and roughly half the supports in the game able to drive this higher, plus both Tomes and Axes have increased hit rate with increases in weapon rank. Put simply if hit rate is something you worry about Conquest gives you a lot of options in how you arrange your actions, and how you build your team to deal with that. Really? The game that gives you 4 massively under leveled bishops on the last chapter too late to do anything with? The game that gives you cancer man and just 3 chapters latter gives you one of the best units in the game Sirius who surpasses him in every way? The game that introduced the hilariously bad swordsman pretending to be a famous swordsman archetype with Samto, and then gives you the real swordsman Navarre the very next chapter (who has better bases and growths)? That game had a massive diverse cast that lets you use a lot of different and interesting teams, but balanced it was not.
  6. Julius (in the final chapter) is actually immune to every user of the Holsety; even with the higher sage magic cap that a Levin! Ced has, and the luck to reach 30 magic and a +5 magic ring he is still short of damaging him, although in chapter 10 Julius lacks Nihil so crits can kill him there. Its interesting that you not only had a base level Julia, and that she can't deal with Julius without a few levels. In the last Genealogy run I did I defeated Julius before recruiting Julia, thanks to the three legendary sword wielders, but it takes a while, and you really want to pick who equips the strength rings carefully (to make odd strength values even) and set things up to maximize the leadership and charm boosts to overcome Julius's own leadership, as below 1/2 health his wrath makes him very lethal to Shannon and Ares (Seliph's Nihil protects him). The sleep staves early on kinda restrict either Seliph or maybe Ares (assuming you have gotten enough Mdef) to dealing with taking Edda, although the ones around Freege are far more annoying as you need flight or range to deal with them quickly, and a couple of people are probably going to dose to deal with that. The only trouble I could imagine with Dozel is if you are playing blind and didn't prepare a defense of Chalphy, as the generic axes are easy and you have enough legendary weapons to deal with Brian. Knowing Scorpio is coming (and the fact his spawn can trigger before you engage the Gelben Ritter) makes him fairly easy to deal with in the trees. Ishtar and her attack squad are probably the hardest part of the map, although the Deadlords aren't pushovers either. I wish I hadn't paired Sylvia as the extra charm user would have pushed Julius's accuracy down to 1% against Shanon, pushed Seliph's up to 100%, and made Ares have less than a 50% chance of dying to wrath after half health. The alternate death quote if Seliph kill Julius is a cool call back, and the extra event with Julia and Manfroy after Julius's death was interesting to see. Although this did also give me the chance to experiment with a weird glitch in this game. Actually reporting that glitch was my first foray into this forum, so I guess its been a while since I last did a Genealogy run...
  7. My plan is to use the "challenges" the games gives out for free to relationship grind, and if there are extra unit slot on a map have some of those filled with relationship pairups, but if that is taking too long I will probably add a few castle battles to speed thins up.
  8. Dropping that 30 mt would be a huge difference due to the strength cap of classes, Julius's 25 def, and Loptous halving attack. The ending fight with Julius is carefully balanced to allow people to just barely beat him with the 3 legendary swords when fully trained, and if that 30 mt were lowered the whole final fight would need to be rebalanced.
  9. Things are getting complicated now it seems. MoA Caeldori (silly Fates anagram names) it is. Although looking over the post again it seems I missed an edit when updating the 1st post, so Oboro and Subaki are free agents if want to choose her parent (although I think the only way you get Berserker Caeldori is through Corrin Marriage which is already taken) I am hoping the PMU aspect will keep things interesting enough to get through it.
  10. I feel the need to support this statement with a quote from the goddess herself: Yune: “Hmmm…”dark god.” “Dark god”… No, I’m pretty sure I’m not one of those. I am neither holy nor base, neither angel nor devil. I am…freedom. Chaos. Transformation. Future. Mystery. I am Yune.”
  11. Oboro is a popular choice then. Poor Hinoka, having to put up with Azama just to give him Fakcon Knight.
  12. How nostalgic, the first Ophelia I ever had was a Nyx!Ophelia Glad to have Soleil on the team (especially with the entirely female choices (barring a token Corrin) so far) Telling me the desired path to their class was an excellent precedent to set. Plus being a Berserker will make her into a crit monster (Not sure if this will make her personal skill feel even more redundant, or simply a part of the critical machine). Your advice has been taken, plus having flying Elise should be fun (and lily poise is greatly appreciated) Interesting choice, although it is very tempting to take a 2 level dip into Strategist to grab Inspiration and add even more 2 range support to her Kinshi Knight Oboro sounds interesting. I've got a soft spot for Oboro for being one of the only Birthright units who can take a hit (and as one of the only ways of blocking CH 12 Xander without early promoting or class changing) so having her on the team adds some great Birthright representation.
  13. I think it is about time I tackle the last of the Fates Lunatic modes, but after an intense Conquest play through I want a different kinda challenge run, hence the PMU. So some ground rules, 1. You have 13 slots to pick. Feel free to choose classes and parents for child characters. 2. Corrin (M), Azura, and Felicia are already part of the team, although people can pick a final class for them (and Boon for Corrin) 3. The only DLC classes available are the free DLC classes and bonus Path classes (max 2 Dread Fighter, max 2 Dark Falcons; max 1 of either Ballistician or Witch) 4. No Amiibo or DLC characters (Sorry Anna fans) 5. Have fun with classes, I rarely experiment with changing classes, so I am looking forward to having to play with some people in very different classes this time around. Edit: As of now all slots are filled. The units that have been chosen are as follows If there is interest in me doing so, I can do a write-up of the run as I go, and some more detailed rules I will be following for the run are listed in the spoiler tab below.
  14. The problem is less with the story and more with the absence of character growth for most of the cast. The game succinctly and clearly explained about the countries and conflicts going on (something fates dropped the ball on), but if I want to find out more about Vyland, Shadow Dragon gives me nothing. There are no houses that tell me his life story, there are no optional supports that I could unlock to flesh out his character, there are no Radiant Dawn style base conversation, or Genealogy style in chapter conversations between characters, (beyond the occasional introduction to Marth). They had numerous options that were used in the past to give these characters something without intruding on the narrative, and this lack is the issue I have with Shadow Dragon's storytelling. They did try to give Marth some growth, but there were serious issues with presentation that hampered that (although they did a good job with Nyna), and Caede and Minerva get just enough lines that I feel like there is something (and the vastly different narrative style of the prologue give the Altean knights a tiny bit of life as well). I'm going to point out Shadow Dragon's Sedgar and Wolf are far worse offenders of this than any of the fates characters.
  15. New Units: 13. Loki: Spring Trickster 16. Jagen: Veteran Knight 45. Wrys: Kindly Priest 96. Thea: Stormy Flier 100. Rutger: Lone Swordsman 220. Odin: Potent Force 222. Arthur: Hapless Hero 229. Selkie: Free Spirit New Total: 231
  16. Just adding a bit more evidence, Hestia's death quote in the final map makes it clear that Sonya is her sister (as Nuibaba's doesn't directly say Hestia and Marla are the two sisters Sonya was talking about) Combine this with the quotes above, (and the Sonya boss quote that started the thread) and it is clear. They might not have said it as directly as Gaiden, but if you piece all the evidence together it is clear Jedah is her father
  17. So there have been some talks here about the gender imbalance throughout the series and to get a better sense of that I stupidly counted the playable characters throughout the main series. For full disclose I only counted unique characters, so the counts below are only the new characters from each game, although if they went by another name I let them both count (so Devdan and Danved both count, while Bartre only counts from Binding Blade, etc.) . I did not include the BS Fire Emblem maps (but all of those characters except for arguably Camus were included in New Mystery anyway). I did not include generics (like the replacements from Shadow Dragon or Capturable generics enemies from Fates etc.), DLC characters, spot pass characters, trial map only characters , Amiibo characters, or Capturable Fates characters. Finally characters who could be either gender (like Corrin or Kana etc.) I counted as .5 for both genders. Overall this led to 532 characters 337.5 of which were male, and 194.5 of which were female for a gender balance of 63.44% Male and 36.56% Female.
  18. Axe Breaker sounds like a useful skill on 26. Otherwise a great assessment. I think both of us forgot about bow breaker (as I seem to remember Starburst also having a Sorcerer, and while I said 3 I forgot to count bow breaker for 4). That being said if you can get it on or before 23 that can help in scaling the wall (it can be done, but it is something you have to be aiming for to get it that early).
  19. I don't think it really captured the Persona series either. I have always thought of it more as Magical Girl Anime: The Video Game.
  20. I do still have a save before chapters 25 & 26, but I have never done any gameplay recordings before, and the only recording device I have at the moment would be my phone so it would be potato quality at best. If I find time this weekend I might try it. I doubt my builds are better than yours, the only troops to leave their starting class lines were Corrin and Beruka, and only long enough to get a lv25 skill. Although there are few difference I will note about our teams that make mine a little tankier. First I had a wyvern lord, and thus defense rally, which is an easy way to add physical bulk. Speed boon Corrin's ability to avoid being doubling really helped his bulk, for example being able to equip the dragonstone + with its +9 defense without having to take a second hit from Ryoma is what let him tank for so long. Additionally it sounds like you tend not to have many weapon breaker skills in your team, and the three I had each saw vital use keeping my team alive. When you start piling up the buffs you can become remarkably tanky, lily poise reduces by 3, inspiration by 2, supportive/devoted partner by 2, defense/resistance rally adds 4, demoisell by 2 for males (so 11 damage reduction on females and 13 on males), and in some rare cases you might even be able to use Azura's buffs as well to add an extra 4. Having her equip a sword consistently gets the ninja to target her (and thus keep the enemy from concentrating fire to kill anyone), but it doesn't always convince them to arrange this specific attack stance. I think I will agree that the Sorcerers are easier to deal with, but it made it a lot easier to deal with the Berserker and General Army. The amount of effective weaponry was a major concern for my team (5 vulnerable to beast killers and 2 of those vulnerable to hammers as well), so being able to deal with one group on player phase without having to worry about retaliation from the other made that far more manageable (although I did have to retreat pretty far to widen that gap) With guard stance I would have taken an approach like yours, without it there is that chance of being entrapped by something you can't deal with alone, and I just wanted to avoid that even if it doubles the turn count doing so (9-10 is the usual turn count for the strategy described). My guess is that this is due to their staff avoid (res *3/2 + luck*1/2) being significantly higher than the rest of your group, but that is just a guess. I have finally done it, the price was high but a narrow victory was had. Part 9 The Bitter Price of Victory (Endgame)
  21. The way she cuts him off mid sentence to basically tell him to shut up seems kinda sassy to me, but I can see others interpreting that in other ways.
  22. There have been a few recent changes that have reduced the number of orbs people were used to getting, for instance the change to month long quests have reduced orb gains by 4, the encore tap battle featured no orbs, unlike previous tap battles, Forging Bonds no longer give orbs at max score etc.
  23. I will disagree slightly here, with the acquisition of blessings being inconsistent (outside of summoning many Legendary Heroes) FTP players can be locked out of some of the Blessed Garden maps due to lack of blessings (especially those that require multiple teams of Blessed units)
  24. They should bring these back, they were more interesting than the entirely one game banners and could garner wider appeal. Here are three example banners I have thought of: Shameless Womanizers: Sain (FE7) Lance Cav Homer (FE5) Blue mage Infantry (Or Green Mage if they want another Thracia mage that is arbitrarily green) Inigo (FE 13) Sword Infantry Heather (FE10) Colorless Knife Infantry A New Life Eyvel (FE5) Sword infantry Zeke (FE2/15) Lance Cav Renault (FE7) Staff infantry Greil (FE9) Axe Infantry GHB Bertram (FE9) Sword Cav Caretakers of the Fire Emblem: Nyna - Staff Infantry Guinevere - Blue Tome Infantry (possibly flyer on a wyvern) Elena - Green Tome Infantry Emmeryn - Red Tome Infantry GHB Emperor Arvis - Red Armor
  25. @IcelerateTwo things to note first : According to Serene Forest Main site, Oliver has 4 conversations (Hetzel, Leikan, Levail, and Sephiran), and second one of the boss conversations Sigrun and Tanith have (with Leikan) the other cannot have it in the same playthrough. I have been reading through the boss conversations that are had between these characters and these are my conclusions: I would go with Nailah, Sigrun, Haar, and Astrid. Nailah - The conversations she gets are some of the only glimpses of Hatari we get, and help flesh-out the world. Oliver - This is my runner up, if I could bring 5 Oliver would be there, most of his are simply about his betrayal of the other Senators, and surprise survival, but his Sephiran conversation is a real treat for this line : Your presence proves that Tellius is unravelling at the seams. Judgement cannot come soon enough. Tanith/Sigrun - Only one of Sigrun or Tanith should come to endgame, all of their conversations cover the same topics and only one can get the conversation with Leikan. I found Sigrun's versions a bit more interesting in general. Haar - The conversations he gets help flesh-out his time before defecting to Daein back when he was part of the Begnion Dracoknights. His Levail conversation is the highlight in my opinion. Jill - A lot of hers feel kinda filler, the Hetzel one is just mundane moralizing (to be fair Astrid's isn't any better), and the Leikan one is just a more concise sassier version of Micaiahs (without all the plot relevance Micaiah's has), and the Sephiran one is just underwhelming and him just trying to take the blame for as much as he can. Astrid - Most of her conversations give us a glimpse of the life she had in Begnion before joining Ike and Crimea (except the underwhelming Hetzel one). Her Leikan conversation has an amazing reveal that is worth seeing. Elinica - She is one of the few with a Dheginsea conversation, and it just reinforces the aspects of Elincia and Dheginsea's character that we have already seen throughout the game. Finally of the three Herons I found Raphael to be the most interesting option conversation wise, mostly due to his history with Hetzel (although recognizing Sephiran from before his loss of power was also a plus).
