  1. This is a reference to the cringy English translation of the Fire Emblem OVA with "5 Points" being one of Gordin's many meme-able lines, although Gordin isn't in TMS #FE, 1% Critical Hit may have mistaken Virion for Gordin. Well....Maybe? SMT games tend to have darker themes than this joyful anime infused romp, although the idea of exploiting enemy weak points, and the trappings of JRPGs in general might. Its hard to say in part due to how many spin-off/sub series of Megami Tensei are commonly considered part of the Shin Megami Tensei series like the Persona series, the Devil Summoner series, the Last Bible series, the Shin Megami Tenshi series etc. Honestly if you find the JRPG elements enjoyable you might want to give this/these series a try.
  2. I will point out it only shows bows can counter at 1, it doesn't necessarily show us bows can attack at 1. This would still be a huge buff to archers, and how important such a distinction might be is harder to say (for instance it could put the archer in awkward position of having to either give up their player phase attack or give up terrain advantages to the enemy if they are left open to attack)
  3. I hope it does return, it was a good way of adding side objectives to maps. It helped give a more distinctive feel to escape maps by awarding Bexp for having people escape before the lord, instead of punishing the player for having the lord leave early (like FE 5). Plus Radiant Dawn's way of converting the exp gained by NPCs/Allies into Bexp made me resent them far less.
  4. Definitely Dratini! Although I am reminded of what I called my Z-team (before Pokemon Z failed to show up) with one poke from each generation at the time, and they were my favorites lines of each gen, baring Togekiss (who I disqualified due to the question of whether his line should take the 2nd or 4th gen slot) and legends. I have listed the team by my favorite poke of each line: Dratini, Tyranitar, Gardevoir, Rotom, Larvesta, and Honedge
  5. I would like to give an extreme example that shows why this complaint is perfectly valid: Tokyo Mirage Session #FE is a good game, just not a good Fire Emblem game.
  6. You can't steal weapons or staves in this game, but anything that is considered an item can be stolen. The big things worth stealing are: stat boosting items; there are a couple of promotion items that you only get by stealing; the member card that allows you to access the game's secret shops (although you will probably have to look up their locations to take full advantage of that); and gems that can be sold for lots of money. Stealing an enemy thief's lockpick is a funny way you can deal with them, and there are plenty of minor items like mines, light runes, vulneraries, torches, door keys and chest keys that can be stolen if you want them, and notice them before the enemy dies.
  7. Sorta, the Arena can be used to grind money or levels for any characters, (although there is the danger of unit death, but I remember it as fairly easy to avoid Arena deaths in FE7) a lot of people don't use it because you can easily abuse it to really break the game. Only if you want to, you will be getting a second thief (Legualt who you might have seen in Heroes) before too long, and he starts with higher speed (although if you get Matthew to Legault's starting level he will average a higher speed), and even then I don't think there is anything hard to steal with Legault in normal mode (although there are a couple of items in the harder difficulties that would require actually training a thief to get)
  8. Hilda from Genealogy of the Holy War looks like she is middle aged... not exactly the best representation, but its something. Eliwood's mom is Eleanora, and honestly none of the "mom" characters looks close to 40 despite having teenage/young adult children...
  9. It more bugs me in the Chekov's gun logic, why show us a sword, if they cannot and will not use a sword, even if it would be advantageous to do so. Also having your side arm to your sword, be... another sword feels especially silly (unless it was a short sword or parrying dagger etc. like in Laslow's art)
  10. All right time for me to get extra petty and obsess over pointless design quirks for far far too long... Why is there so much camel toe in Sharena's attack & special poses? Was that really necessary? Why is Ogma's sword utter nonsense? I know alot of the weapon designs are stupid but this one especially. OK Subaki's might be worse... I know a lot of the long handled axe positions are dumb, but Sheena's attack & special poses are especially stupid. What does she think that axe is a staff? Where did Alm's massive sheath go in all his non normal poses? The poses they put Clair in to emphasis her Boobs and Butt (barring her injured form) look strange, unnatural, and painful. (Warning Rant Time) WHY IS ISHTAR'S NORMAL POSE SO AWFUL WHEN HER OTHER POSES ARE SO AWESOME! They have those great shoulder pads slump down so they do not reach that aesthetically appealing line, and then awkwardly hike up the slit in her dress, combining with a back pain inducing hip position to give her the appearance of a freakishly long leg, and let neither her hair nor cape have the space they need to spread into their magnificence.... Where did Raven's Axe come from? Where is it hiding in his normal pose? If it spawned from the aether like other people's weapons than why does he have a sword sheathed at his waist? Why isn't this sword in his portable hammer space & why isn't he using the sword clearly sheathed at his waist? ... Good lord this is a recurring design trend that I can no longer unsee. WHY DOES JAGEN HAVE A SWORD? Both Catria & Est...If I hadn't noticed it on Raven first I would think this was a cool nod to dismounting... I think I will Lechesis a pass on this one. Oh Linus you too? Is this supposed to be a nod to heroes being sword locked in their unpromoted class? Ok extra petty here, but between the two Reinhardt, why change the sword's design, and why add the tome holder... and why take the sheathed sword away between Olwens...sigh Jesus Zephiel why do have one sword that is sheathed in all of your poses, and a different sword that you actually use? What is the point of this design feature? What sword is it supposed to be? WHY ALWAYS SWORDS....ok dumb question, its because sheaths are common knowledge, and the artists would have to design or look up what were used to carry other weapon types. Where did Fir's sheath go? why do I still care? Why do they make such an effort to hide Sophia's boobs in her normal pose when the clearly want to show her endowment in all of her other poses? WHY DOES ELIWOOD'S SWORD HAVE A DIFFERENT GRIP WHEN IT IS SHEATHED THAN WHEN HE IS USING IT? Is this another nonsensical Zephiel situation, and if it is why hide the sheathed sword so thoroughly? Did the artist just not care? Where did Rebecca's bowstring go in her attacking pose? Why doesn't Amelia have the axe that is clearly chained to her gauntlet in her normal pose? Where does it come from? Why chain it to your wrist in such a way? If this is a nod to the GBA General's chain weapon attack animation, why isn't she launching that axe in her attacking and special poses? Why couldn't Sothe be using one of the three daggers clearly sheathed at his waist? where did this mystery dagger come from? How did Female Robin get literally the boringest tome in existence? Where does Lon'qu's sheath go? Hana's too...sigh why do I notice these things. How could Kaze's weapons possibly be a ranged attack? They are literally attached to his arm; is he cringily teleporting behind people, and then returning to his position...multiple squares away? Why does the game have to emphasis Papa Garon's cod piece so much in his attack & special pose? How does Selena's sword get so much wider after to leaves her sheath...
  11. Sorry, I was remembering the tactical considerations of a strict Sigurd Solo, where you do not field anyone other than Sigurd (and thus never get the Light Brand from the Ethlin Diadora conversation), that 20% dodge at range does improves his ability to deal with mages (although the extra slot taken up by the magic ring to ensure he 2 rounds (while doubling) the mages from range instead of 4 rounds hurts a bit) Seth's weakness are far fewer and further between, and situations where units exist that would do a better job at a task then him are far fewer. I was talking strict solo, and more that Seth's ability to do so easier makes him more broken than Sigurd. Sigurd breaks his game but so do like a quarter of the cast (and a couple of the bosses), and does have notable weakness that do show up. No one breaks Sacred Stones quite like Seth (without meaningless grinding), and what weaknesses he has are rare (maybe effective weapons, but how many of those are there on enemies that aren't pathetic? I guess player that forget pure waters exist might be his biggest weakness, and even then he still has passable resistance).
  12. I feel like all the good character from the good fates game are gone but I will see what I can do. The Conquest Banner: Sophie, Shura, Benny, with Forest as TT, and Hans as GHB (the only thing keeping Charlotte from replacing Sophie is her Bridal alt...) Man that was hard, they really have a good selection of conquest character. The Birthright Banner (child banner just like the most recent Conquest one... ugh this is going to happen soon isn't it ) Mitama, Kiragi and Caeldori, with Reina as TT and Scarlet as GHB
  13. Gosh I feel like I burned my best 2 gen 2 ones on the First Genealogy thread, but here is another sub, and normal set: My Substitute for the Substitutes Banner: Femina, Jeanne, and Amid, with Sharlow as the TT and Johalva for GHB (because the horseless Axe boy is clearly the substitute of that choice) My Second Second Generation Banner (AKA Genealogy's Thracia Banner): Delmund, Ced, Corple and Athena with Hannibal as the TT and Arione as GHB (I honestly wanted to add Arthur and Tinne here, but Corple and Hannibal were needed once I realized the theme of this Banner)
  14. I hate to have to break this to the Sigurd is broken crowd, but without the Tyrfing (chapter 5 exclusive and literally broken when acquired) he has serious problems with mages with his average Mdef of 4.25 at max level. With the forests/mountains and wind mages of chapter 4, and difficulties of personal healing in FE4, it is VERY difficult to solo generation 1 with Sigurd. Seth has no such weakness, and soloing his entire game is trivial. Sigurd is amazing and broken... but not Seth levels of amazing and broken.
  15. Seth is famous for literally being able to solo that whole game, without the player even needing to try. Seth is too broken, I cannot stand using him in Sacred Stones.
  16. Man I feel the need to add a banner of fill those noted holes in the current suggestions Linoan, Shiva, and Karin, with Conomore as TT and Amalda as GHB What a horrifying (yet depressing accurate) depiction of Thracia's future in FEH. Despite really wanting Altena and Travant (plus Arione, but nobody remembers him...) to be in FEH, I couldn't agree more. We should see more Thracian units in Thracia banners. Marty ?
  17. I hope you are enjoying FE7, it was the one I started with a I still think its a great game. TA doesn't really effect crits much, you do have to hit to crit so the accuracy change (and the +/- 1 strength could make the difference when tripled) does effect it, but it isn't huge. Honestly I think someone has overstated the value of Luck a bit here. There are a fair number of people who call it great due to it playing an impact in accuracy, avoid, and crit avoid, but it only plays a small role in accuracy/avoid, and while the crit avoid is nice, there aren't a lot of enemies with high crit rates. I think JSND Alter Dragon Boner has covered a lot of the main points rather well, I just want to add a few things. First that I also didn't like Pegasus Knights on my first couple playthroughs as well (although they have grown into my favorite unit type), and you might end up liking Wyvern Knights better, they fly and are weak to arrows, but tend to have higher Strength and Defense although with lower Speed (but with higher Con to compensate) and embarrassingly bad Resistance. I find Flyers help a lot when the game is pushing me to reach some side objective before a thief/brigand can make off with all the loot, plus they work well when doing rescue shenanigans, or when switching the equipped weapon of someone who has already acted through trades, and then taking the rest of their movement to reach safety after doing so (Cavs can help with both of these two, but being able to ignore terrain makes it easier for flyers). The issue with Archers is that they have no way to attack or counter attack at range 1, people who only wield swords only also get criticized for how difficult it is for them to attack/counter attack at range 2, due to there being only two weapons (four in hector mode) in the entire game that give them 1-2 range, and at range they have their strength halved (although they do target resistance instead of defense at range to compensate). Even Lyn and Rath, who when they promote can both use swords and bows, have the issue of relying on the magic swords if they want to counter at both ranges during enemy phase. Meanwhile all magic is range 1-2, and you can buy the basic 1-2 ranged lances and axes at numerous armories (although the better versions are fairly rare). Mages also have the advantage of a lot of basic enemies having pathetic resistance (although the bosses of this game have unusually high resistance values in general). If you haven't already, stocking up on Javelins and Hand Axes might be a good idea. Well... I am not saying its a bad idea to try this, but there is only so far you can push your crit chance, and often just having a heavier hitting weapon/character is what you need to more reliably take down basic enemies. Guy is a good example for why this isn't always the best plan, unless he gets lucky with his Strength growth (or you give him the only energy ring in Eliwood mode) he has a hard time doing the damage he needs to reliably one round enemies unless he crits, where as a powerhouse like Raven tends not to need the crit to one round, even if his crit chance is significantly less. This really isn't as good as it sounds, the multiply only applies to the weapon's Strength + TA, not the actual characters strength (at least in this game) Technically FE7 was designed as a prequel to the Binding Blade, so the Binding Blade is an older game, but the story takes place after, following the story of Eliwood and Hector's kids Roy and Lilina Erk tends to get overshadowed by Pent who arrives far latter in the game as a promoted unit with amazing bases, high staff rank (which is hard to get with those who only get staff use on promotion) and using the same magic type. You should also be getting Lucius and Canas (if you reach his gaiden chapter) fairly soon, who use the other types of magic and are fairly good. Lucius tends to be a glass cannon, and dark magic has some cool effects, which makes Canas fun to use. Have fun Mampfoid, this was a great entry to start with, and hopefully it gets you to appreciate the heroes of the Blazing Sword.
  18. The Triangle attack Banner: Rolf, Bow Boyd, Sigrun and Marcia , with an alt bow Oscar as TT, and Tanith as GHB...
  19. Lets start with the generals of Grado: Duessel the Obsidian, Selena the Fluorspar, and Glen the Sun Stone, with Caellach the Tiger's Eye for TT, and Riev the Blood Beryl for GHB The Heroes of Jehanna : Gerik, Tethys, and Ewen, with Ismaire as TT and Carlyle as GHB The Guardians Dozla, Saleh, and Syrene with Rennac the reluctant Guardian as TT, and Morva the fallen Guardian as GHB
  20. By far the most important version of threads inspired by GrandeRampel I bring you that most ignored, least beloved of IS's fire emblems in the eyes of FEH, Thracia 776. With a grand total of 8 characters in Heroes attributed to Thracia, with 3 of them featured prominently in Genealogy (Leaf, Nanna, and Finn) and two alts bloating the count one could even argue there are only really 3 truly Thracian characters in heroes. Now it is time to defy the odds and dream big, worry not about how realistic the banners be (realism leaves when we imagine a Thracia banner even occurs) shot for the stars and create whatever wild and crazy banners you fancy. The rules: 3-4 in the banner itself plus TT and GHB, No alts for pete's sake Let me start with three amusing Banners: The Father-Daughter Banner with: Dagda, Tania, Galzus and Mareeta, with Sara as TT and Manfloy as GHB (yeah I know Manfloy is Sara grandfather not father, close enough) The unique weapons banner: Orsin and the Pugi, Tina and the Thief Staff, Dean and the Dragon Lance, Asvel and the Grafcalibur with Fergus and the Beo Sword as TT and Reidric and the Lopto sword as GHB Plus the Memeiest banner of all: the Marty Party, Ronan the Mage Killer, Shanam the sham, with five star Xavier as the TT's 50,000 pt prize, and Kempf as the the memeiest GHB...IN AMERICA
  21. Lets start with the Dragons of Shadow Dragon: Bantu, Nagi and Xane with Gotoh as TT and Medeus as GHB The Necessary Heroes banner 1 (sorry for the snark Etrurian Emperor, but your post is the inspiration for this one) Astram (with the last of the three regalia of Archanea in tow, and his ties to both George and Midia give him a bit more than blank slate territory) Kris [Male] (I know people like to forget the first player avatar, but he is too important to New Mystery to ignore forever) Gotoh (have people really forgotten the last minute overpowered character Archetype? Plus he was fairly critical to the plot as well) with the TT as Kris [Female] (This may seem redundant, but having a character for both gendered versions is a bit necessary for player generated characters) and the GHB as Gharnef (The first evil wizard character who was the real antagonist of this game) I actually had a few more that needed adding: The Necessary Heroes banner 2 Nyna (who is entirely playable and the lord for the first and fourth Settalaview Fire Emblem maps...and technically playable on the last maps of FE3&12) Yumina and Yubello (Talking about the Prince and Princess of Grust together here, they are the catalyst for Lorenz's rebellion that starts the plot of new mystery, and even in FE 3 they get characterization with Yumina as the spunky princess who puts on a strong face, and Yubello as the shy and timid prince who fears combat) with the TT as Elice (Marths sister, lover of Merric, wielder of the legendary Aum staff, the one who stayed behind to ensure and GHB is Lang (This dick deserve his place in heroes for being the fire emblem villain that you love to hate)
  22. I think I will associate my banners in a different way: The Flyers of Tellius: Jill, Haar, Marcia, and Tanith for the main banner, with Sigrun as TT and Ashnard as GHB ( I know there are 4 in this banner, I just wanted to include Sigrun and lets be honest she is the one who would be dropped if there were any fewer slots) The Knights of Tellius: Astrid, Geoffrey, and Kieran for the banner, with Fiona as TT and Petrine as GHB (I know I have missed Makalov, he could be added to make this a 4 banner but lets be honest no one wants Makalov) The Armored Knights of Tellius: Gatrie, Brom, and Meg, with Taurneo as TT with Bryce as GHB The Sword Lords of Tellius: Zihark, Edward, Lucia with Stefan as TT, and Bertram as a sword cav as GHB And of course the best Laguz banner of all, one that would make all other Laguz banners reek of anticlimax or waifu baiting The Monarchs of Laguz: Nailah, Tibarn and Caineghis, with Naesala as TT and Dheginsea as GHB
  23. I will start with the Alm banner: Echoes of Rigel Mycen, Zeke and Titania, with Rinea for TT and Rudolf for GHB For the Celica banner: Valabar, Kamui, and Conrad, with Deen for TT and Jedah for GHB
  24. Lets go with a flyer emblem banner: Farina, Fiora and Heath, with Vaida as GHB, and Eleanora (Eliwood's mom, and yeah its a longshot, w/ alts I would pick Florina or possibly Lyn) as a flying healer TT Edit: I wanted to add a few more themed banners Heroes of Pharea: Lowen, young Bartre, Isadora with Harken as GHB and Marcus as TT Heroes of Ostia and Sacae ( I know weird mix but both would need alts for a full roster otherwise) Oswin, Rath, and Guy, with Uhai as GHB and Leila as TT The with alt versions: Heroes of Sacae: Rath, Guy, alt Lyn (Wander of the plains Flying on Florina's Pegasus with the Mani Katti) Uhai as GHB and alt Karla (Protective mother Karla infantry w/ staff) Heroes of Ostia: Oswin, alt Matthew (Vengeful Spy, infantry with a colored dagger with art depicting him as an assassin), alt Serra (Beloved Bishop, infantry with Blue magic), with Uther as GHB and Leila as TT
  25. Alright I've gotta few more good banner suggestions: The villain's of Geneoology: Chancellor Reptor , The Avaricious Lord Langobolt, and Queen Hilda (for obligatory waifu), with Manfroy as the GHB, and buck the trends with Travant as TT Advisors of Geneology: Oifey, alt Lewyn: hero from a distant land Holsety of the winds (Green dragon infantry), General Hannibal, with Aida as the GHB, and Shannon as TT ALL right I will give the Waifus of Geneology: Brigid, Aideen, Larcei with Lamia as GHB (I know obscure even for me, but the leader of the all female mercenary band deserves it) and Leylia (I know a repeat but a free dancer and female w/charm fits the banner idea...) And for of course Husbandos of Geneology: Lex, Azelle, Delmund, with Ishtore as GHB, and Ced for TT
