  1. Finally sparked Ayra after sitting on 39/40, and just in time too. With just a few hours left to the weekly reset, I threw her into Heroes Journey to level up, then into Resonant Battles, where I was being demoted to T19 having only one eligible Harmonic. Turning that into two Harmonics (both unmerged) didn't just keep me in T20, but was enough to easily go up to T21. Guess no one really has Thracia Harmonics huh?

  2. Yeah, making that mental association that I've essentially paid directly to units is not really straightforward. I mean, in practice I have effectively paid $5AUD apiece ($3.50USD) for Summer Ephraim, Summer Ivy and Tea Ayra, but psychologically it's more that having that spark fallback feels required in order to summon on these banners at all.

Well, to be fair it's not universally true. I probably would have gone for Summer Catherine and Legendary Hinoka regardless of spark access, but looking at all the units I've pulled this year, those are the only two where I'd have made that commitment (and ironically I got both at around pull 36-39 on their respective banners). But if I didn't have FEH Pass access right now, I certainly wouldn't have spent more than 15 orbs on Summer 2 and Tea, and I imagine I'd have sparked CYL already even if only once. But yeah, I guess the point is that it made me go for riskier units I wanted more, instead of settling for more mediocre F2P-sparkable units. Anyway, I'm rambling.

On topic, I just did a full round on the Double Special banner but have nothing to show for it. Nothing really critical there so there's zero temptation to go any further. As usual I'm not interested in the armours or the 4* Specials, and I have Dorothea and Karla, so it was just Nino. Without Harmonic Linde as the main attraction she's not nearly as interesting.

  3. Resuming on the Tea banner with 6 pulls left to the spark. No pity rate to speak of, so I can't complain too much when pull #37 is +Res -HP Flavia and pull #38 is +Def -Atk Ascended Celica. Neither is new, with it being my third Flavia and somewhat absurdly my fifth Celica with none of them being intentional pulls. Sure would be nice if one of them was an Ascended Laegjarn instead but so it goes.

Final pull and the resultant Ayra spark will be some other day, productive banner overall with two focus and two off-focus units total. Shame I couldn't do it yesterday, because it would have gotten me to T21 Resonant Battles.

EDIT: Weekly arena pull is Gerik. Fine.

  4. I've been in and out for ages now but perhaps a bit of a hot take is that I don't particularly care about the power creep. That's not to say I don't understand the complaints, but they're not personally relevant for me.

Well, mostly. The part that does bother me most is that at the pace they add new skills, there's no longer any care taken to ensure fair and accessible inheritance chains. Stuff like a new premium unit having two ultra-premium tier 4 skills but with no practical way to get them both. This gridlock has pretty much stopped me from doing any proper builds and I now almost exclusively just use units with their base kits again, like back in early 2017. That certainly makes the game less interesting, and as someone who does not play competitive modes, that means there aren't really any decisions to make beyond "do I summon on this banner or not?"

Beyond that, it's mostly a matter of the gameplay modes being completely stale and with zero effort to touch them up. You can even see it in things like obsolete reward systems - oh come play this mode today to get four whole dragonflowers! It's a shame because systems-wise, I still find FEH's deterministic approach to battles far more tactically interesting than mainline Fire Emblem games. I'm just about to drag my sorry arse past the final few chapters of Engage, and I'll be glad to see the back of it.

  5. I'm not as hopelessly behind on Chain Challenges as I used to be - at one point I had around a three year backlog I think - but I still float around a year behind which keeps their difficulty manageable. If I were optimising, I suppose periods where I have FEH Pass would be the best time since it trivialises them. Man, I still remember how hard the Echoes one was with that map that had the entire cast plus Bruno on the mountain.

On the other hand, I didn't think Squad Assault would be so trivial these days, bearing in mind the only ones I've ever done are the first 10 and the last 3.

  6. After having pulled Tea Lysithea already, I got Tea Sigurd on my 32nd pull of his banner, and he's +Atk -Spd to boot. That means I'm safe now to spark Ayra with no regrets and finish with all three premium units on the banner, and no significant hanging pity rate.

Not sure what the plan is afterwards, but with no orbs I'll have plenty of time to decide. Do I care about CYL Robin or Soren? I might compare them to the upcoming Legendary before deciding. New Heroes Return should be sparkable without FEH Pass so no rush on that one, and the September Special Heroes will start after my FEH Pass expires so it's no good for me. Of course, simply banking my orbs is an option too.

  7. I know I said I'm not that interested in this year's CYL batch, but I traditionally do a full round first up no matter what, so I felt obliged to do the same this year. And well, the freebie was a +Atk -Res CYL Corrin, so despite her being my least-wanted unit, that's a win. Got a Dorcas merge as a bonus.

Ignoring the tickets for now, I have 11 pulls to the Tea spark.

Oh, and this week's arena freebie was another CYL Claude, my fourth from these tickets in total.

  8. Damp squib of an event for me, plans might change but it's looking likely that I'll just grab Gullveig as my freebie and ignore the rest. I'll wait for the PM1 simplified skill breakdown to know for sure, but between an armoured dragon, an infantry mage and an infantry sword, the other three are a very hard sell regardless.

Art is just a pass for all four as well. Fine, but uninteresting.

  9. For Matthew, I'd wait for that Arcane Dagger for sure. He got a Resplendent skin around a year ago for +2 to all stats, but it's a lot of money to catch up on old Resplendents unfortunately. Resplendent M Morgan is the next Resplendent hero announced, releasing on the 24th this month.

So yeah, for most units - say the ones with refines older than a year - the only way back is through inheriting Arcane weapons. The main thing to note is what Arcane Weapons fit each role, for swords, lances and bows there are two different ones with different purposes. That is, one for fast units that can rely on their own stats to double, and ones for everyone because the weapon grants an automatic follow-up.

    - Arcane Éljúðnir from Rearmed Lif, for any sword user so it's great for Chrom, who can also get Atk/Def Menace from him.

    - Arcane Devourer from Fallen Chrom, for fast sword users. You can also get Spd/Def Snag and Inf Spd Tactic easily alongside the sword, though sadly the Snag skill is for mounted units only.

    - Arcane Qiang from Alfred, for any lance user so you'd want it for Lukas. Extra value for mounted units though due to Alfred's inheritable B-slot Canto.

    - Arcane Lúin from Rearmed Ingrid, good for fast lance users. Getting extra value is awkward though as her Guard Bearing and her Spd/Def Hold are flier only.

    - Arcane Downfall from Ganglot, good for fast axe users, but passable synergy for slow ones if you couple it with Ganglot's Quick Riposte 4. It's fairly to get maximum inheritance value from her for Infantry, inheriting all four premium skills she offers. That said, aside from the axe her kit is clearly targeted towards enemy phase.

    - Arcane Eclipse from Rearmed Ophelia. Her weapon is good for any red mage, but the extra value from Special Spiral 4 can be argued to be just as important as the weapon when considering her inheritance value.

    - Arcane Nastrond from Rearmed Tana. Again her weapon is good for any archer, but Guidance 4 is extraordinarily valuable making fliers the prime target for inheritance.

    - Arcane Darkbow from Alcryst is the bow for speedy archers. Alcryst is similar to Ganglot in that it's fairly easy to get full value out of him, getting Deadeye, Flash Sparrow, and Def/Res Smoke very easily on top of the bow.

    - Arcane Grima is the only Arcane breath so far. Good weapon, awkward inheritance since her other skills are armour exclusive.

    - Arcane Nihility, obviously super niche being for cavalry beasts only.

Unfortunately for the most part, we don't have any guarantees to which Arcane weapons are returning soon. In terms of planning though, we do know that Alfred and his Arcane Qiang are returning in October due to having won the re-run vote.

We also have this mystery "New Heroes Return" banner on the 4th of September. This might be a big one for you, as these banners historically are a mix of highly desirable recent New Heroes, and there may be multiple Arcane weapons on offer there. Granted, last time around it was mostly Ascended Heroes (still good though) with Rearmed Lif being the only Rearmed hero old enough to appear. Unfortunately that means you'll likely have to wait for a different to get Chrom a new weapon, but it does also mean all the Rearmed heroes after Lif are eligible to appear.

With that in mind, it means it's most likely you'll be able to address Morgan/Erk, Ross/Boyd and Lukas the soonest out of all the units listed. We're also halfway through the current Divine Codes cycle which means you likely won't be able to complete more than one row

Do we still get notifications for when Legendary/ Mythic Heroes are rerun?

Whenever a Legendary/Mythic unit is on a banner, the next scheduled appearance of that unit is always stated in the news item that announces that banner.

Of course, it's always easier to wait for someone else to piece the fragments together and come up with the latest chart. It may be worth bookmarking the profile of this user who appears to most reliably produce these charts.

EDIT: They maintain this info and a few other useful charts on this site.

While I agree about variety being best, Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude all actually had different movement types from their base versions, but the same as their legendary versions. Lysithea matched her base class though.

Yeah, I guess you could compare it to Seliph with the Legendary and CYL versions doubling up, but at least in that case at least he wore the away shirt for CYL. And I'll readily admit Edelgard looks completely different between those respective versions too.

Dimitri is super egregious though and incomprehensively so. They'd surely have known from the moment 3H was released that he'd have both a CYL and a Legendary version, but still went ahead with what they did. Maybe they should have made an alternative continuity version, where he lost the left eye instead of the right one. 😛

P.S. I kinda liked the idea that CYL Gullveig would be a big snake with many additional human heads.

  12. Worst outcome for anyone is always them appearing as their base class, so the 3H lords, Alm and Marth. Fortunately the odds of that are probably smaller than in previous years, because with the base forms of all four winners being either tomes or dragons, they can freely colour-switch with no real impact of their depiction.

    In terms of specific units:

    - Gullveig being just Gullveig but drawn by a different artist. See CYL and Legendary Dimitris.

    - Corrin being an infantry dragon, especially after Tiki last year.

    - Robin feels like the lowest risk for me because he's had decent variety in his alts so far, so nothing would be *too* egregious. Yeah Grima would be tedious but he's been Grimaed less than his female alter-ego at least.

    - Soren as any sort of mage would be boring. If we end up with a sword infantry this year it should be him. 😛

As for best outcome, I say have all four be gauntlet users, one for each movement type!

  13. Likewise compiling my list:

    Summer Noire
    Valentine's Lyn
    Valentine's Soren
    Summer Gunnthra
    Spring Marisa
    Spring Marisa again
    Dancer Shigure
    NY Selkie
    Halloween Sakura
    Winter M Robin

Mostly new units which is good, but not anyone I particularly care about. Also amidst all of those units I see a +Spd -Res Fallen M Corrin who I don't remember pulling at all. Must have been a 4*SR I just plain forgot about.

  14. I don't like that neutral face at all to be honest, and would prefer the original one. The other poses are decent though.

I've mentioned before that I haven't used any of my Rearmed Ophelias but I suppose this gets him closer to Lilina in terms of attack. But he's still behind even with my lack of Resplendent Lilina. Not that it's at all an impending decision, at least until Atk/Res Finish 3 enters the 4* pool.

  15. Hark, a focus unit! It's Tea Lysithea (Lysitea?) and on top of that she's +Spd -HP, on the 14th pull. Pleased with that, and the option to escape grey hell. I'll probably still open a grey if it costs 3 orbs but not 4, but that'd be a pretty rare occurrence. Not sure if I chill for now and wait for the CYL announcement or just truck on and get the remaining 23 pulls done ASAP.

Daily special hero is Halloween Sakura. Not new, unfortunately, and not an improvement on my existing +1 +Res copy.

  16. The daily New Heroes revival brought me my second 5-star freebie of the batch, and it's ...CYL Marth again. None for two years then two in a week, from the same event. This one is +Spd -Atk, so the game is really sending me the message I should merge them huh?

Daily seasonal freebie is NY Selkie. I guess my old +Spd -HP one gets a merge.

One more partial round of Tea gets me to 13 pulls in, still nothing.

  17. Today's special hero is Dancer Shigure. Ancient but new, fine.

Can only afford one round of Tea currently and got nothing, going to be a long wait to get to the spark.

Weekly arena freebie is Nagi, who I have plenty of.
