  1. Also because the DC is nothing to do with the actual weapon's lore, but rather a band-aid fix to prevent cheesing the weird non-moving boss design - i.e. a gameplay contrivance.
  2. I gave my one and only spare DC to Effie, though she's +Res/-Spd. The added perk there is that you can also pass Goad Armor at the same time, so it's the best choice in terms of maximising inheritance value. I did strongly consider Titania though because there's an obvious gap in the FEH lineup there. Consider the native DC units available. We have Ike, Ryoma, Xander, BK covering red. Fjorm and Camus for blue. Hector and Dorcas for green. So fliers aside, Blue Armour and Green Cavalry make sense in terms of coverage. However that doesn't really consider the relative def vs res values, of which only Fjorm has any res worth mentioning. So what are the options for a mage counter DC? Well, Fjorm existing works against poor Mathilda (and Jagen, along with most Pegasi). Red has Caeda, Eliwood (not really suited to enemy phase), Fir, Lloyd? Green has Titania, Hawkeye and uhh, Camilla with a switched out weapon? I'm waffling a bit but you can hopefully tell why it came down to Effie vs Titania based on the above factors for me.
  3. I'm not strongly against the multiplier but I certainly believe there's room for improvement, so I'm just spitballing here. I do realise a flaw in my earlier proposal of being able to play with a 0x score though - there would be potential stalemates where both teams gain exactly 0 points while waiting for the multiplier to kick in. So actually, forcing players to spend a nominal amount of flags to earn more flags from quests would be necessary. In the first hour of each round the five login flags would be spent to get the ball rolling. Past the first hour, the same hell threshold might need to be eliminated to prevent stalemates, and I admittedly haven't fully thought out the implications of that. The other unaddressed issue I guess was the rounds ending at impractical times in Europe. This doesn't affect me personally since each round ends at the rather convenient time of 3pm here, but I can see how it certainly can suck. I wonder if eliminating same hell (multiplier kicks in at a single point lead) means that we could potentially return to a fixed multiplier like how they tried earlier on. Alternatively, a crude-ish band-aid might be to increase the multiplier by 0.5x every 5 hours rather than by 0.1x every hour. Of course, there's always the option of just putting 10000 feathers across the three rounds in quests everyone can do, and removing all feathers associated with ranks and victory. Or even better, delete the game mode and send us 10000 feathers in the mailbox every month. :D
  4. Well, without multipliers the game would be literally healthier for you. The present system encourages players to schedule their time around expected multipliers and modify their sleep patterns (and other more minor things around their daily routines). Without them, you could spend your flags at any time within the 40 hour window and end up with the same total score. And I'm only being semi-facetious too. I also kinda have a problem with the ability to play it twice an hour, every hour, for 24 hours straight. A possible solution would might be if the game effectively limited the number of "plays" you had by forcing you to spend flags to get any points, instead of having freebie 1x points by spending none. You'd still be able to play for zero points to fulfil the "win a match with a colour X ally" quests but you wouldn't be able to get ahead points-wise by forgoing sleep entirely.
  5. Only getting 1700 feathers this round hurts, but can't win 'em all. Personally I'd like more feathers moved to the VG quests instead of being tied to team performance, so the swing between a bad yield and a good one is minimised. Obviously that's the selfish pure feather-hunter part of me speaking, but imagine how horrible it would be if the orb rewards were tied to team performance, and in turn, luck. Heading over to team Lissa, with a Bridelia lead for now: 8123590456
  6. Had to seriously fish for the first time in months and even then could only still muster 4874, an understandable drop since it was just a straight swap from Winter Chrom to Airzura. If it's not enough to get back up to 20 I'll just accept my fate.
  7. And I just did it with my Tiki if you want practical confirmation. A level 1 Tiki running around with a Def refined Lightning Breath+ is pretty scary.
  8. I can't tell Julia and Sophia apart so I may as well pair them up - they complement each other's roles well anyway. I also have trouble with mixing up Abel and Roderick (despite knowing full well their hair is different) but unfortunately they're the same type.
  9. The ones that have me torn are the gem weapons. I originally thought no when the refinery was opened since I consider them a step above unrefined silver and armourslayer weapons. But then I had mistakenly assumed Wo Dao wasn't refinable. When compared to that, I start thinking gem weapons could need a boost.
  10. Opened the two green orbs offered: 3* Beruka +Def -Spd. Is she better than the Def/Res or Atk/Spd ones I already have for a future 4* +10 project? Might keep her around. 3* Cherche +Spd -Atk. Glad I'm finally getting some extra ones lately, been a long drought. She goes to 4* +6 once I can spare 4000 feathers, but still lacking a good base.
  11. Zeke and Sirius. Glass. Cervantes. Candace. "Jokey" options sure, but I'm generally not impressed by FE villains who are mostly pretty one-note. So my preferences would either be novelty sort of units, or practical unit types - i.e. select all fliers, dragons, mounted ranged units and a few armours. Infantry villains need not apply. Let's see: Idunn, Galle, Uhai, Selena, Glen, Aversa, Pheros, Arete, Lilith, Layla. I wonder if a unit like Kishuna would ever be reasonably but faithfully implemented in FEH.
  12. Yeah, it kind of boggles the mind that when I play a TT with a bonus unit and marvel at how powerful they are, whales have that level of power all the time (6 extra hp aside). One day...
  13. I'm a shameless feather hunter normally but was talked into team Ryoma for the novelty of being non-novelty. Glad to see it's worked out well. Rank 789 despite only catching half of the last multiplier is a good return, especially since I don't even have Ryoma, and just level 1 cheesed all the fights. 8123590456 - have been running a Fae lead but might switch it up to Bowdelia halfway through.
  14. I'm a cheapskate so I run Darting Blow on my 4* +10 Blade Cecilia but the principle remains, +spd is what you want. Along with Desperation she usually sweeps everything on the map regardless of colour. With L&D she might not survive the counter from some units like BK or Ike, but then again she might OHKO instead. I'll let someone smarter than me calculate which matchups will end up more favourable though. +Atk Cecilia is great too, but with her stock Raven tome. So I built two, the Blade one for Arena and general content, and Raven for AA and the occasional archer countering.
  15. After a horror show that was trying to get a deathless AA run yesterday, I've decided on a new New Year's Resolution. No more full advanced difficulty runs. I'm going to end up burning out and hating this game if I keep pushing myself, and for what? About a two-in-three chance of getting into the top 10000 and thus earning an extra 400 feathers, 2 coins and 2 stones. I've put the policy into immediate effect and doing three advanced fights then the rest of intermediate gets me to rank 13000-odd as of right now. Should land safely above the 20000 cut-off, so I reckon I can cut back to two advanced fights and still be fine.
  16. I know I said yesterday that I'd hold off on any further pulls on the NY banner until mid-month, but today's orb rewards were more generous than expected so I decided on one more round (after asking my sister whether I should, since she just pulled a perfect Dorcas off-focus on the same banner). Glad I did, first orb was New Azura, even if it's with -Spd. 5* New Year Azura +Atk -Spd 4* Sophia +Atk -Res 3* Bartre +HP -Atk 4* Olivia +Def -Res 4* Stahl +Res -Atk While I'd very much like a Takumi and wouldn't turn down Camilla, I think I'm done here unless the mid-month banner is a total bust.
  17. All I've got is a 4-star +4 Sophia, so I'll have to make do with that. Going to be tough to get into T20 next week, might have to dump the horses or fish hard. Sadly I haven't summoned another Sophia for months.
  18. Got burned badly, about 100 orbs broken by Eirika at the end. Bleh. 3* Matthew +Atk -HP 4* Cherche +HP -Spd 3* Beruka +Def -Atk 4* Jakob +Res -Atk 3* Bartre +Res -HP 3* Frederick +Def -HP 4* Klein +Spd -HP 3* Olivia +Def -Atk 3* Selena +Atk -Res 3* Cherche +HP -Def 4* Priscilla +HP -Spd 3* Selena +Atk -Spd 4* Klein Neutral 3* Virion +Atk -Def 3* Lissa +Def -Atk 3* Lon'qu +Atk -Res 5* Eirika +Res -HP 4* Raven +Res -Spd 4* Hawkeye +Atk -Res 4* Seth +Def -HP 4* Roderick +Def -Spd Only thing that I might level is a Selena. Eirika is a merge, Olivia finally gets to +10, and Cherche goes to +5 albeit still with a bad IV. The two Kleins and one other Selena are the only notable fodder. That hurt, and with two orbs in the bank I'll wait until the mid-month banner to decide what to do next.
  19. Oh right, early inheritance mistakes. Thanks to the skill search function, I recently found a random unlevelled 3* Fir in my barracks who had Hone Speed 3 for whatever reason. I've sent more than a few Firs home before so luckily this one survived. Until Maria took both her Speed Plus and Hone Speed of course. People talk of colourless hell and occasionally green hell, but personally I dread blue hell the most. And this is someone who actively wants Jagens.
  20. I wish my swarm of 3* Florinas had Desperation to give off.
  21. Huh, didn't realise the Christmas banner still had a day to run. It's probably just to ensure the New Year's banner is up for the actual New Year's Eve celebrations, but I wouldn't mind if it set a precedent and all new unit banners had a one-day overlap. If nothing else, it'd help with those situations where you want one particular thing from the incoming banner but would be happy to go back to the previous one should the new unit come quickly enough.
  22. Yep, acknowledge that, and I used a bad example. Just trying to say how even if a unit had a 4 point bane I wouldn't want a hypothetical 4 point boon to "balance" it, because if anything it'd feel even worse for the majority.
  23. Nah, I just deal with a lot of arbitrary payment rates set by legislation/bureaucracy and irregularly indexed. Again though, you dismiss changes as "unnecessary" as a reason to not make them. I have no issue with people who are happy with the status quo, if it's something that doesn't affect your personal satisfaction with the game, then obviously any effort whatsoever is effort you don't see worth spending. Necessary is a needlessly black and white term, but it is important to establish the differing viewpoints of whether it's *desirable*. This is important because this colours the perception of the effort spent. Is looking at level 40 stats for each rarity for each character a large amount of data? You assert it is, but I'm not so sure. Even if the stat values were stored individually for each character with no efficiency measures, it's still a pretty reasonable volume data for low-level non-technical staff to check even manually. Even if you had just a couple of interns, and had them review the data in an inefficient format like manually reading something resembling, the wiki pages, it's something that's doable in a fairly short timeframe. Further, the maintenance aspect of the effort would be a simple eyeballing of the eight or so new units they add each month unless they raise the level cap or add additional rarities. I don't really want to go back and forth any further. It's simply a change that I think would be nice and therefore worth the effort. For those who think the change is pointless, then it's fair enough to believe the effort would be a waste. Both natural and reasonable viewpoints and I'd be happy to leave it at that. P.S. Yeah I don't like +4 boons either. One factor is just OCD, but consider also it means the unlucky people lose out on even more potential than they otherwise might. Imagine if Reinhardt had a potential 8 point swing in attack stat, and thus 16 damage per round purely because of IVs.
  24. While I'd personally like the "a unit is their stats" philosophy taken to its logical conclusion and allow fully unrestricted inheritance, that's probably beyond the scope of FEH. But given as I still have an itch to see unusual combos such as a staff-wielding Ike and axe-wielding Maria, I'd like to see a little mode or event where your team's weapons are switched for a fight or series of fights. Not too fussed on how it's specifically handled, it could be manual or it could be a totally random shuffle, I don't care, I just want to see my old units in weird, unfamiliar roles.
  25. I'm very much a lazy software developer too, and deal with a lot of hardcoded data. The "track" system you propose is still just a straightforward table lookup, just with a many-to-one relationship. In either case, hand-tweaking the data is not a big deal - highlighting any cases where you have a difference of four instead of three is hardly sophisticated data analysis. As for the "need" to do it - well, that's their decision on whether a marginal gain in customer satisfaction is worth it. Saying they're no need to do it is not the same as saying there's no benefit in doing it. That said, the beancounters might not even care about something as low level as this so it's possible the any decision was taken at a lower level.
