  1. I was thinking a cavalry fighter could spawn on their mount but be knocked off the mount by an attack. Frederick, for example, would start on a horse, giving him some extra weight and power, but if struck hard enough he'll be knocked off, leaving him on his feet. Additionally, the mounts themselves can be dealt damage, causing them to run away if they take too much. If anyone other than the trusted rider tries to get on a mount, they'll be bucked off. The mount might even kick enemy fighters who get too close. The rider can Whistle to call their mount to their side or to summon them after they've recovered, but if the mount is injured, the whistle will not work. While mounted, the rider can use D Special to Dismount. Mounted fighters can crouch, but the reduction in height extends only to their own body; the mount does not crouch with them (although, if it did it would probably look really adorable to have your horse or pegasus resting on its legs as its crouching pose). If a horse rider jumps, they'll jump off their mount, while pegasus and wyvern riders hover above the ground and get multiple midair jumps. Recovery is where things get tricky. In the case of dismounted Pegasus Knights and Wyvern Riders, I was thinking they could magically sprout a pair of pegasus or wyvern wings to fly for a short time. Horse riders could do some kind of dragoon-esque high jump, I guess? Alternatively, the mount could simply appear in the Final Smash, where the rider summons the mount and charges forward atop the mount, leading to a quick cutscene where they score a critical hit.
  2. Right now, my money would be on Crash. However, Shantae would make me a happy man as well.
  3. I think almost everyone expects Crash to be one of the two remaining DLC fighters at this point. If it's anyone else, most of us will be absolutely gobsmacked. And if the Bandicoot somehow slipped through the cracks, you can bet coins to Wumpa that he'll be first in line for Smash 6.
  4. Though I know Fox n' Forests is probably nowhere near notable enough for this, It's Show Time! is quite literally a boss track. Maybe they could add it with a Rick costume for Mii Gunner?
  5. What about a story set before Kirby's Dreamland? Perhaps a tale of how Meta Knight came to be who he is now?
  6. Finally finished mine. In the cases of Krystal, Shantae, X, Zero, and Sigma, the extra picture of each represents a costume alt. Number 8, Dr. Wily & Robot Masters, depicts the eight playable Robot Masters and hints at the Final Smash.
  7. How about Kirby Super Star Ultra Deluxe? KSSU for DS is 13 years old now, so it's about due for another update. They could add more modes, more playable characters, new bosses, etc. I'd love a Ribbon-centric mode that has us play the fairy girl and demonstrate Copy Abilities of her own. She could also get her own nemesis, perhaps a dark fairy or witch of some kind. Really, it's amazing Ribbon didn't get her own spinoff series, she seems perfect for one.
  8. The Banjo-Kazooie Game Over Screen is pretty memorable, as much as for the fact you see it every time you quit the game as what all happens in it.
  9. Weird to think that there was a time when Donkey Kong was groundbreaking and innovative. But yeah, no doubt the 80s have a lot more to offer in terms of characters. Frogger is probably the next most notable 80s original after Mario, DK, and Pac-Man.
  10. That might have had something to do with the Bandicoot's then-most recent outing being Mind over Mutant, seven years prior. If that poll had gone on now, I guarantee you Crash would be one of the top results.
  11. I'll dare to dream: A surprise remake of Star Fox Adventures for Switch. Also: The first fully-3D Shantae, done as an open-world platform game.
  12. My bro tells me it was a news article. He forgets which one. Maybe it's this one? https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/super-smash-bros-ultimate-nintendo-switch-dlc-characters-tease-sakurai/ Or this one? https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2021/may/29/masahiro-sakurai-two-finalized-ssbu/ Boy, imagine if it was Crash and Spyro being announced back-to-back. The Shantae fan in me would die a little, but the Spyro fan in me would be a little happier. Fact is folks, they can't keep this up forever. Sooner or later, they have to move on...to developing Smash 6 for the next Nintendo system.
  13. Apparently, the last two fighters of this Pass are the last two to be added to SSBU, period. Also apparently, they'll be revealed at the same time (or more likely, in the same video the way Hero and B&K were) and they'll both be playable by the end of the year. Last chance for our boy Crash. After this we'll have to wait until SSB6, whenever that happens. Maybe next time, I'll finally be able to play Krystal...
  14. To be fair, lines in Japanese tend to be different anyway, so they can always record something different for the Japanese version and give us Westerners Pingas. At this point it's as much because the fans who do like it would be positively tickled to hear it in an A-List Nintendo game. You could say it'd warm the cockles of their hearts.
  15. Of the songs I listed previously, E.G.G.M.A.N. would be one of my top picks. Ideally added along with Eggman himself. Some other choice picks: At Doom's Gate Chrono Trigger Mortal Kombat Time Twister Spyro Reignited Trilogy Theme Simple and Clean Dragonborn Dance Through the Danger
  16. There's a distinct possibility that Eggman may be added as a villain fighter to SSBU. Unlike fellow evil genius roboticist Wily, who already has presence as an Assist Trophy, Eggman's only appearance in SSBU so far is as a Spirit - and as Min Min, Pyra & Mythra prove, that doesn't stop someone from being added as a fighter after the fact. So, the question posed by this topic is: If Eggman gets in as a playable fighter, should one of his taunts or win quotes reference that infamous little memetic line from The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog? It wouldn't be the first time Sonic-related media has called back to it; both the Archie Comics and Sonic Boom! directly quoted it. As far as I know, the games have never referenced it before, but there's always a chance they could one day. So...Pingas, or No Pingas? Place your vote in the Pingas Poll above! EDIT: Just to clarify, the proposed taunt would be "Snooping as usual, I see?", not just "PINGAS!"
  17. Would be cool to see a Chrono Trigger remake be announced, either with hand-drawn art or full 3D graphics. A reimagining of Chrono Cross would also be nice, preferably trimming most of the chaff party members in favor of giving the worthwhile members more time to shine. A Mega Man Legend Legacy Collection or remake would be a nice follow up to Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. Considering that the 3D graphics haven't aged as well as their 2D contemporaries, they might want to go the remake route on that one. I hear HD remakes of classic PS1 games have been doing pretty well lately.
  18. Mega Man X Whew! This one took a while. Originally I wanted to include Special Weapon switching using Shield + Special as well as the ability to equip different armors, but I ultimately decided to stick with something simpler.
  19. Hoo boy, do I have lists. The Legend of Zelda Mega Man Final Fantasy Sonic the Hedgehog Prone to update over time.
  20. I think prequels work best when you also plan to make a sequel. That way, the prequel can plant seeds for said sequel. Say a character shows up in the prequel who didn't show up in the original work, whether because they're believed to be dead or are simply missing or whatever. Then the sequel arrives and shows us this character is very much alive. Alternatively, prequels can set up gaiden games or sidequels focusing on someone else.
  21. I'm thinking about a stage for Crash Bandicoot. Presumably, we'd expect a stage set on the Wumpa Islands, but could Crash's stage be another of those tour stages? Like, first it starts on N. Sanity Beach, perhaps with Crash and Coco's house in the background, then travels to a snowy area to represent Crash 2, then to a futuristic era to represent Crash Bandicoot Warped, and maybe finally travels to an alternate dimension for Crash 4: It's About Time? Regardless of the settings visited, I know I'd want crates to be the main gimmick of the stage, since that's where Crash gets his name from. Like in the Crash games, fighters can jump on top of crates to bounce off of them or break them by attacking them or jumping up into them. Different crates have different effects: Basic Crates yield one Wumpa when broken, and are naturally the most common type to appear. In Smash, Wumpa fruit will heal whoever picks it up, like any other food. Aku Aku Crates yield a protective Aku Aku mask when broken, making the fighter briefly invincible. Naturally, that means they tend to be rare. More villainous fighters such as Bowser and Ganondorf get Uka Uka instead, similar to how the invincibility mask powerup distinguished between "good" and "bad" racers in CTRNF. Crash Crates yield an extra stock or point when broken. However, only a few appear per match; once they have all been broken, no further Crash Crates will appear for the remainder of the match. Furthermore, fighters can't have more than the starting number of stocks; if the starting number is 3 and a fighter with 3 stocks smashes a Crash Crate, they will not gain any additional stocks. Purple ? Crates are just like Basic Crates, but yield an item when broken. This is based on ? Crates in Crash Team Racing and its remake as well as the purple ? Crates seen in Crash Bash, which yield power-ups. Red TNT Crates will explode if struck, and if bounced on they will begin a 3-second countdown. Green Nitro Crates are highly volatile and will explode if a fighter so much as brushes against them. Yellow Time Crates appear exclusively in matches with time limits. When broken, they stop the clock for a number of seconds equivalent to the number depicted on the crate (1, 2, or 3). Like Crash Crates, only a certain number will appear per match. Black Smash Crates fill part of the Smash Meter when broken. They will not appear if the Smash Meter is disabled. I would also include Arrow or Bounce Crates, but one of those could be Crash's Up Special. Then again, the jetpack from Crash 2 could serve that purpose. So, it's possible Arrow and Bounce Crates would appear as well, functioning like they do in the Crash games.
