I want IS to have more same sex support as well.I am just not optimistic about what would happen if they did. I just don't think that a Japanese company like Nintendo would make game where maybe 50% of characters in your house are bi or gay without receiving some unwanted attention from non-fe fans that just wanna bash LGBT in games. As for the pedophile/incest criticism, those are legitimate ones that needed to be said so that it doesn't happens again. However one big backlash against big cast of LGBT characters might scare them and other big time game developers from doing something like that again. As for teacher-student relationship, I don't think that's so bad, especially based on the latest trailer where Byleth seems to be same age as most of the students. I never get the power imbalance argument from the comments here, because that is probably not gonna come up in a game like FE. At most it's gonna be like : C-support: teach a student who comes to Byleth about a subject he/she is weak at. B-support: She keeps failing and Byleth found a unique way of teaching to make her success. A-support: She did very well in the most recent test and becomes thankful to Byleth. S-Support: The student confess and Byleth was reluctant but eventually confess to have the same feeling as well. End scene.

The thing is, quality is still a fairly subjective topic especially in literature/movie. You can show your research and famous writer about what is a good story and there will still be people disagreeing with it. Those classic tales like Moby Dick or some other old times English novels out there probably considered as snooze fest for some people. I feel like it's very hard to determine what kind of quality that a game should be based on. At the end of the day, somebody is gonna say the story is bad while some is gonna praise it. I never thought that Corrin is badly written, at least not any worse than other FE lords like Sigurd or Ike or Roy,

The problem with non-indie game is the other portion of fans who are slight homophobic. Look at Dragon Age 2, they made most of your companion bi and it was a meme/criticism of the game. The comments get really ugly and I hope that doesn't happens to FE community.

I can't speak for other people, but I do read lots of novels and I have wildly different preference for literature and games. See if I want imagination on my own and lots of characters interaction, I would just read a novel, or even fanfic. But when I play a game I don't expect to read a tons more and have to imagine in my head when there is visual presentation. Any good in depth story can be found in literature and movies. I play FE for the gameplay and to customize characters, not because I lack imagination, but precisely because I want to fullfil my imagination that I cant get from reading because those don't have avatars or self insert for me to make decisions on. Btw, I'm 22 not sure if that's considered old or young to you. I think harem style has always exists since the older days, looks at Genealogy where the first pair up game happens. Like Sigurd has to have a baby Seliph or else the story won't go on. So regard to your question "who in Fates was important besides Corrin?", the same question can be asked for almost everything that has a clear protagonist. If Harry Potter die before he got the letter, the noseless big bad (don't rmb his name) would just killed every one, or if Sigurd didn't fall in love at first sight with Deirdre, the whole second generation would be without Seliph and the usual dragon baddie would wipe them out again. The game even hand you substitutes units for other second generation baby if you didn't bother to pair them up. Heck, in RD only Ike, the gary sue of FE, can kill the final Goddess. You can just bring Ike and nobody else matter in that final fight because only Ike can kill her. The only thing I have against avatar is lack of gay romance but I'm cutting them some slack since they are Japanese developer and gays aren't really their target market.

Trail games took almost (or over) 10 years to finish filling their plots, lets hope IS don't go down that road.

My headcanon ship for FE7 lords are Lyn X Rath, Hector X Florina, and Eliwood X Fiora, Largely due to how much I dislikes Ninian's epilogue with Eliwood. I don't see the point of arguing over Priam's existence and whether he is canon or not. Multiverse basically means that he could come from the localized Tellius world that implied Elincia X Ike unlike the Japanese version. And that is the one of the many reason why I like Awakening. FE4 second gen characters as a whole sucks compared to other second gen in Fates and Awakening, which made the later half of the game even more frustrating to play.

I want to see branching promotion. I want to see characters other than Edelgard is being trained by Byleth, and decide what their class are gonna be (basically more villagers, but called students/disciples instead, and the training Byleth gives them shapes their potential classes that they can choose from).

Ike, Soren, and on the fence about Hector. Hector is fine in Eliwood mode, but he is a bit insufferable in his own mode. He is basically the jock archetype that shines best when he is the interesting side character.

Surprised that so many Bastion, I thought he is the less memorable character in Tellius series. He's one of my fav character from Tellius too because of the "wind mage=smart guy" trope. Sadly Soren is just a better mage all around with better support. Not sure about Archanea series, it has so many characters in New Mystery that I like (being my first FE game and all) and really RNG determined whether they can be good or not. I dropped Roderick at first and use Luke despite me hating him because he turn out to be better. Then come Athena, who gets outclassed by so many sword units (and later on in Heroes, this woman is victim of powercreep alright). I love everyone in Awakening and there is hardly bad units in that game as long as you have galeforce or can support with someone that have galeforce. As for Fates, Arthur and Odin has been mentioned in this thread. Odin seriously get screwed the most out of the Awakening Trio. His Hoshido reclass option doesn't even grants him niche like the other two does. He is basically a reproduction boy toy you use just to get Ophelia.

Same here. Not the MOST disappointing but fairly. I like the first few episodes then it just sorta slow down because the producer doesn't know where it's supposed to go. I don't find Austin Butler attractive, but I found most of the other casts appealing (Eretria, Allanon, and that two hot uncles of Amberle.) Then I tried to watch Season 2 and it brought me back on the first two episodes, then it lost me again. My most disappointing tv series is probably later seasons of US Shameless, probably starting 6 or 7. It was amazing to see the bad things keep being thrown at Fiona and her siblings, it gets less amazing when Fiona actively and constantly sabotage her own happiness.

The gameplay is really good. And the large number of cast means there is bound to have some that I like. The number of classes available, and combination of weapons in every class (that I can think of). Dagger/Shuriken is a nice addition. More weapons selection with different effects. Guard Naginata, Disrobing gale, etc etc... Has a lot of good support conversation. Most of the times is the S-Support that irks me, but most C to A supports are interesting or at least enjoyable.

I often find myself softened up to strong characters after realizing how amazing they are in combat, even though I may not like them at first, like Ike and Camilla. Especially Camilla, she gives me a shiver down the spine every time she mentions about killing whoever she is talking to, because I know she is definitely capable of doing that. So for me, if a character sees enough action in battle, I would eventually found something for me to like that character. Recently I am playing Birthright Lunatic and training Orochi as Witch for the first time, I disliked her... flair during my last BR and Revelation playthrough. But oh my god she is definitely fantastic at nuking things magically with Horse Spirit. And now I like her more because she looks good as a witch and her conversation with Ryoma is decent and warming (pair them up for speed bonus for Orochi). But of course, sometimes I get crazy enough about a character I would try to use them even though they are bad units, although that seldom happen. So far only Arlen, Stefan, Frey, Athena and Cain make that list.

It's based on personalities and/or combat, I might like a character a lot just because he is a great unit to use. FE4- Azelle, Quan, Ayra FE7- Harken, Rath, Isadora, Pent & Louise, young Zephiel FE8- Vanessa, Artur, Forde & Kyle, Gerik, Amelia,Saleh, Knoll, Selena, Orson PoR/RD- Oscar, Boyd, Illyana, Stefan, Haar, Tauroneo, Ena, Jill, Bastian, Geoffrey, Lucia, Nolan, Volug, Elincia, Kyza, Reyson, Sanaki, Nailah,Tanith & Sigrun FE12 (My first FE game so a lot of bias)- Arlen, Cain, Marth, Katarina, Roderick, Cecil (Still waiting for her and Kris to be added into FEH), Warren, Linde, Sheena, Athena, Cord, Frey, Etzel, Horace, Astram Awakening- All first gen+2nd gen and Priam. I tried, but I can't just choose one. All of them are either super good combat units or backed up by funny support conversations. But the first few that became my favorite in the first run are Chrom, Flavia, Yarne, Cynthia, Lucina, Noire, and Say'ri. Fates- First gen:Kaze, Mozu, Shura, Kagero, Ryoma, Xander, Hinoka, Takumi, Rinkah, Orochi, Kaden, all 4 Nohr Siblings, Niles, Arthur, Effie, Charlotte, Flora. 2nd gen: Midori, Dwyer, Shiro, Shigure, Sohpie, Hisame, Selkie, Asugi, Ophelia. SoV- Gray, Tobin, Kilff, Lukas, Delthea, Zeke, Mae, Boey, Genny, Leon, Kamui, Saber, Whitewings trio

I would rather play through a boring map. There are ways to make it less boring but frustrating is harder to get around with. Would you rather dance for 5 minutes once every hour or never be able to hear music again?

They included a joke character that Smash Community instantly loves and that joke character became a template for future FE lord's design. I wish that Three Houses' lords and avatars would do at least one musical song and dance out of no where in the main game.

They were implemented well within the lore and it makes sense, but none of them have any personalities or combat abilities so no one ever wants to use them anyway. I wish that IS confirmed Priam is canon son of Ike.

Somehow this is harder than Walhart GHB for me. For a long time I just put in random team without looking up guides online and hope that it works, but this LHB makes me bust out my Horse Emblem team (Camus, Brave Lyn, Gunnthrá and Swordhardt)

if I step away or look away from the screen during enemy phase, I won't know which unit died or everyone survived, I once restart the whole chapter because I was so sure the Shinon is dead but turns out I just didn't deploy him the first time. So yeah I can't do both simultaneously. Besides I am pretty sure I would pay more attention to the game anyway, considering that I constantly think about whether I should get food afterwards in the middle of having sex. As an average gay guy I can tell you it's not that easy to get laid either, unless you are a hunk, but that applies to straight people as well.

Yeah but aren't those generics usually have the same stats? like this group of archers have same stats, another cavalier group share the same stats, so it would still apply to few of them instead of just one unit at a time. Nonetheless now that I thought more about it, chill skill would be broken against boss that won't move since he/she will the last one standing and all debuff would be on them.

Chill skills and some of the weapons skills, like owl tome and Marth's weapon for supportive role. I want to say Distant counter and Close counter as well but that would just breaks the game.
