  1. Kiss the Boss

Early mid game, the party with 10 units need to defeat the enemy army to battle the boss. So when you kill almost everyone and reach the be boss you need to pick one unit to interact with the boss, surprisingly resulting in a kiss. Anyone can be chosen, the avatar, lord or the side characters in the battlefield.

So different cutscenes will play with each character kissing the villain, who will get angry and will push the kisser away, that will fall on their butt on the floor. The boss will scream

"What are you doing? Are crazy?"

But he will never forget. Later in the game the boss will ask to be recruited because the kiss was so good..

Her Chrom support isn’t even all that bad though. It’s a fairly cute little romance story. It’s not all that complex or anything but it works for what it is and that’s really all it needed to be.

Being honest I think her support with Chrom is quite lame. Why would anyone prefer it over their other supports? But Sumia is much more than one convo, she is adorable in her romances with Frederick, Robin, Gaius, Henry and her conversations with Cordelia and Sully. Other Awakening characters have eventual ridiculous pairing/supports as well.

I thought people hated it because it was ''all about pie than romance ?'' and then they turn around and ship her with Gaius lol

But yes, her Chrom supports are pretty cute and simple, but not in a bad way, she just takes care of him like a old fashioned housewife would.

But come on here, we all know the real reasons why people hate on Sumia, and it's not really because her supports with Chrom is "bad", she gets in the way of people's OTP.  So they shove the "pie lover" with the candy lover

To be fair I think it's understandable getting annoyed by having one character, path or ship shoved, while the others options offered by the game that you prefer don't get the same attention. If I were a f Robin x Chrom or shipper I would get pissed by that too. I just don't think this is a fair reason to hate Sumia , especially considering that she has other pairings and marrying her to Chrom is completely optional.

    Lucina X Yarne >>>>

I really like this pairing. Mostly because king Yarne is amusing, and so is the Ylisse royal family bloodline being now shapeshifter bunnies. They also have a good conversation, often ignored because Yarne is an underrated character.

Mark x Lyn: It’s honestly nice seeing Lyn interact with the OG avatar and her bond with him is nice

Gonzales x Lilina: Everyone likes to ship Lilina with Roy, but her support with Gonzales is just pure preciousness

I like Gonzales x Lilina simply because he needs love and I'm not fan of Roy x Lilina, it's utterly bland. At least Gonzales marrying Lilina is hilarious and heart warming in a way. I think this ship has some following though, even if for lolz

Mark x Lyn is definitely not underrated though. Especially considering that Mark is a half character. When it gets a remake and Mark turns a proper avatar, probably it will be the most popular ship.

    Byleth x Shamir

    Lon'qu x Olivia

    Virion x Anyone

Shamir is a considerably minor character but even so I thought she is quite popular with Byleth?

Agree with Virion ships. Especially Virion x Lissa, Virion x Cordelia, and Virion x Robin. He has really good conversation with them.

Clive and Mathilda: It hits that sweet mark between being hilariously cheesy and actually pretty sweet, with some good black comedy thrown in given that their romance focuses upon how great both of them are at killing people. I'm laughing and smiling all throughout their support conversations, and I'm kind of surprised that they're not discussed more.

Clive and Mathilda is hilariously cheesy, I like them together despite not being a fan of Clive alone, they make a great duo on story. It's funny that they also recognise that Mathilda is the stronger of the two. Echoes cast is incredibly underrated though, and not as discussed as it should be.

Marth x Kris is just my personal favorite ship, it's my two favorite characters together  and Marth's lines about Kris being his other half just really cemented my love for the pairing. Everytime I see them interact I just wish I could pair them romantically.

I always thought Marth had repressed gay feelings for Kris lol.

He gets possessed by Grima in the original timeline so he isn't responsible for everything bad that Grima did. He is obviously not in full control of his body and thus can't stop Grima from doing evil things.

I don't see what's morally grey about this.

I believe it's implied that Robin couldn't resist Grima in the original timeline because he was more inclined  to be corrupted by power and so was possessed by Grima, while in the game timeline Robin wins everything through the power of bonds, love and friendship.

Robin is not an amnesiac in the original timeline as well.

birthright corrin is a big "fuck you" to anyone who is adopted

that being said, the alternative is Conquest Corrin who literally gets away with genocide

anyway Sigurd conquers an entire continent I feel like we should talk about that

I'm adopted and I always chose Conquest because I think it's the more realistic choice despite being a fucked up scenario, but my family is not that messed. That said I think Corrin situation is a bit more complicated because of the political implications and  the situation of choosing between an adopted toxic family but with siblings that she loved, and strangers that she didn't care at all and she didn't know about their true nature.

Sigurd is a well written but very flawed character and even his creator, Kaga recognises that he is dumb and naive.  I find his romance with Deirdre cringey and stupid as well.

  6. Corrin. I don't think she is half as bad as the fandom say she is. She is not worse than Celica, Lilina and other "well liked" characters - I'm not saying they are bad, though, just that they are in equal foot. I think the hate directioned to her is due to Fates disappointment overall and a bit of echo chamber.

Sumia. She is not an exceptional complex character, but she is okay, especially compared to the rest of the Awakening cast. She gets bashed for her Chrom support but she is not forced to marry him, she has good convos with her other husbands, just don't be lazy and make an effort to disclose her other pairings. She can even stay single if you don't care for Cynthia.

Personally, I'd rather have the dad as the main lord. The archetypal lord's dad character, to be specific. So not quite Sigurd or Chrom, who become fathers during the game but it never goes beyond their kids being babies (and in Sigurd's case, while still remaining as the main lord), or the likes of Corrin and Chrom again in that due to timey-wimey shenanigans they interact with their grown-up kids while still being in their late 10's or early 20's themselves.

So basically, the late thirties to early forties middle-aged parent with a kid in their late teens or early twenties as the main, not their kid, as it would usually be the case.

However, I'm aware this is unlikely to be a thing, since they're likely to keep FE main lords young.

Or how about... the dad as the Jagen archetype unit? I feel that if we were to have them in, better be there for the long haul, not as a late joiner.

I can see the main character adopting a child and rasing them. Let's say a 28 years lord has an adopted son/daughter in their 10's and their relationship is one of the driving forces of the plot. With the romance mechanics, it's hard having a lord with family, unless their spouse die in the first chapter with the kid being the only survivor, making them free to bang other characters.

  8. - Painter - uses magic and works more likely like a summoner. I had this idea after seeing another rpg with this class and the ink inspired magic in Birthright.

    - Oracle - Probably Lance and dark magic class.

-Necromancer - being playable in the main campaign. Probably a branch of summoner class.

I would like more profession oriented classes overall, it's really unique.

Wizard, Alchemist, Librarian are classes that could be part of Mage tree.

Crusader, Templar as part of the knight tree depending of the lore.

  9. Ninian: I utterly despise her. I despise damsel in distress trope. Even Azura who is boring and was inspired on Ninian can be more badass, and this says a lot. And Azura doesn't flirt with Corrin all game. Not to mention how bad are the implications if Ninian stays in Elibe, dying and letting her son orphan, seriously? Her dying and going back to life like a Disney Princess is eye rolling cringey. Everything about her is bad. I refuse to pair her with Eliwood, go back to your dimension, bye Ninian.

Takumi: I wish i liked him because he calls Corrin out on her bs, but he is just so unlikeable. I hate his design too, his hair and bangs are just ugly imo

Jakob: He is a horrible person , he  fawns over Corrin and is rude to  everyone else. People who are nice to boss but rude to colleagues are detestable. He is also particularly a horrible father even considering the amount of bad parents in that game.

Colm: Neimi can do so much better. He is rude and he sucks in every aspect, I hate that him and Neimi are a pushed couple to show supports, who thought it was a good idea?

    Honourable mention:

Deirdre: Eh, she is dumb and I hate her romance with Sigurd. She is passive all the time time and her main role is men fighting for her, and giving birth to children. At least she saved Julia, which is the only thing she did that is worth. I just don't hate her and Sigurd because it's propositally stupid, showing how Disney like romances and naive behaviour is stupid, but I can't understand why anyone would like them to be together unironically.

Tharja: she is comically evil/messed but I'm just pissed that some people justify child abuse or look over it because she is hot. I don't hate her at all cause I get her gimmick and can laugh at some of her supports though.

There's some more characters that I'm not a fan or that I don't understand the popularity but those are the only ones I really dislike.

  10. I don't like the ship, I find it unhealthy and boring. Lord x Avatar are the most popular ships by default. Edelgard  being canonically a LGBT lord, other than avatar, makes her x Bylass even more popular because there's little official representation of this kind of relationship in the franchise.

So, I don't ship it but I understand why other people like the pairing

I think you're exaggerating when you say "most"; from what I've seen, it's mainly about 40% at most. As I and Geenoble have pointed out, in two versions of the game, they are explicitly just close friends, while the third hints at romantic attraction on Soren's part, but none on Ike's.

It's not canon because, even in the original Japanese version, it never goes beyond ship tease. There's no confirmation of romance or anything. Ike doesn't have "options" as he's never confirmed to end up with anyone in any ending. And before anyone points out Priam's existence means Ike must've ended up with someone, Marth is considered Anri's descendant despite actually being descended from Anri's brother, so, for all we know, Priam could actually be Mist's descendant (also, if Priam is in fact Ike's descendant, Ike having a blood-descendant would disconfirm Ike and Soren unless Soren found a spell that could make himself into a seahorse).

Funny enough, for all that Ike never seems to show interest in anyone or really notice when someone's showing interest for him (unless it's Aimee, in which case he either runs for the hills or hides under a desk), he is very good at noticing when people have romantic attraction towards someone else. He suspects as much of Haar towards Jill, and once he meets Micaiah for the first time, he deduces the true nature of their bond very easily.

Well, every topic and poll I've seen about the issue, Ike x Soren is brought up and is the winner romance option for both characters, winning by a great margin so I believe it's majority that interpret this way. There's margin to interpret it as platonic friendship, but theres strong shipping tease with the two though.

Yeah, canon pairings are just default or confirmed romances, which is clearly not the case of Ike x Soren, Ninian x Eliwood or most Fire Emblem romances no matter how popular the ships are.

  12. Of the list, Alm x Celica and Micaiah x Sothe are the most developed. Not my favourites but they are the most recent canon pairings and get more screen time in their respective games.

I would've also suggested Eliwood x Ninian because that may as well be a canon pairing.  And I mean, if there's one "canon pairing" I would support if it was considered such, it'd be that one.

Eliwood x Ninian is clearly not canon. I for once prefer Eliwood x Fiora because Ninian is actually very annoying in the game and I don't like how her role is mainly being a damsel in distress to be saved by Eliwood. She has a better ending returning with her brother instead of dying because she is thristy for a dick.

Ike and Soren isn't a romantic pairing; it's well-established to be a strong friendship. Before anyone points out that they leave Tellius together if they both have an A-Support in Radiant Dawn, the same thing happens with Ranulf and Ike, and I doubt anyone would genuinely argue that there's anything romantic between Ranulf and Ike; Ranulf is even an Ike x Elincia shipper:

Most people interpret Ike x Soren as being a romantic pairing, so it's not "well established" that they are just friends. But obviously it's not canon considering that there's other options

GBA Priest and Troubadours belong on the bench because you can use 100% vulneary healing up to the point of getting your first guiding ring and then just have your mage be your first staff user in chapter 11.

Once promoted priests and troubadours are great units so they are worth the effort. Of course, there's a lot of ways of playing the game though

  14. There's a similar discussion in Genealogy of  Holy war about how much Lewyn maintened his conscience or if he was completely replaced by Forseti personality. I think there's not pattern in Fire Emblem of how much the conscience is overwritten.

Is it confirmed that Robin was 100% rewritten by Grima? That said Grima was a malicious entity, I believe "good" dragons prefer not mind rape other human beings even if they can do it

  15. A lot. I will exclude variations of the names cause the list would be immense, but here we go:

Bruno: A very common name in Brazil, there's one Bruno in every corner

Stefan: I know a lot of Stefan's too, ironically all of them are hot

Ingrid: professional dog trainer that trained my dog

Manuela: One of my high school best friends. She loved reggae, new age stuff, nature and all this stuff

Laura: A best friend for life

    Marcia: A cousin

Isadora: Cousin, I know quite a lot of Isadoras though

Lena: Common nickname for Helena, my aunt and summer friend are often called Lena

Olivia: My best friend toddler daughter.

Nanna: A nurse that took care of me when I did a surgery years ago

Constance: a colleague at college, she was a very nice, pretty and refined girl

     Elen: A friend

    Astolfo: My cousins dog

Cecilia: I know quite a lot of Cecilias

Maria is a very common name but it's often composed like Maria Carolina, Maria Theresa, Maria Lucia, etc...

There's more but now I'm tired of typing names

  16. I prefer multiple endings depending of choices, so no, I dislike "true" endings, Fire Emblem doesn't need that and I'm happy the developers probably also realized this.

Also Fire Emblem is not a game that will give game over for making certain choices but instrad it's a game about customising your units and playing with a lot of possibilities so  I feel true endings and pushed pairings or "holier than thou" paths are a bit disrespectful to the player. Why give the option if there's a correct end that few will get making the whole previous experience hollow?

Also I don't think Revelations should be considered a true ending. It's mostly the happy ending but the most unlikely to happen
