  1. AT LONG LAST! Gilliam has been a long time coming and my personal most wanted from Sacred Stones.

The other choices make sense as well. Vanessa is another unit who was super popular (the last one I consider on that level is Franz, after him we're done) and Syrene... fits well with her fellow Frelians?

And of course Vigarde is a welcome addition. He is the decoy Big Bad of the game after all, he certainly deserves a to get into Heroes.

It's just a shame that Glen was skipped. Completing the Six Generals of Grado would have been neat. I guess there's always next time?

But is there gonna be a next time? I wonder. Sacred Stones is now in the same situation as Echoes with no playable female characters left.

They do have some NPCs: Rinea, Nuibaba, Hestia, Marla and Irma for Echoes and Ismaire for Sacred Stones.

So I guess how they will treat the next Echoes banner will tell us how they'll treat the next SS banner. If they skip it I will start to worry. I sincerely hope they never give up on a game getting New Heroes banner until they finish the playable cast at least. It doesn't even matter if part of said cast is seasonal only, but they have to get in.

Every playable character is someone's favorite and it would suck so hard to be that someone who has, say Forde as his favorite if they just decide they are done with Sacred Stones.

My confusion isn't based on the data or anything. It's just my personal impression. Of course, I also feel like Dorothea, Lysithia, and Hilda have a confusing number of alts, too. It just feels disproportionate to the number of alts other minor characters from the same games have. I could see having 1 alt for now, but they just kind of keep coming, you know?

Also, yeah, I was kind of surprised to see Ashe here, too (for the reasons I've already stated for Bernie.) I agree that he suits this theme, though. He's on the more mild/easygoing side. And as far as popularity goes, he was one of the characters I saw talked about here and there when 3H was new, and he still seems relatively well-liked, but again, that's just based on my casual impression. I'm not complaining, though. He may be my favorite character from 3 Houses.

Oh yeah, if you mean compared to other characters from the same game and if you feel the same way about Dorothea/Hilda I agree.

But IMHO what's weird isn't that Bernie has three versions, but that a lot of the base students should have three versions by now (maybe Linhardt and Ignatz and Leonie and the likes can live with two since they are less popular) and a select few like Felix should have 4 (he will forever be the weirdest case of them all since so much obvious popularity is being ignored for no reason).

Considering the popularity of the cast and how long they remained the newest game I would argue (and I know many don't want to hear it) that they deserved more seasonal slots and at least two more New Heroes banner than what they got, to at least bring out of seasonal hell the students who are clearly the focus of their games (two New Heroes banners mean Felix, Ashe, Dorothea, Caspar, Leonie, Sylvain, at minimum. This without considering instant demotes).

Okay, I just saw Bernie's damaged art and I have to say, I love her expression. Sure, she's shown that face before, but it's just so funny every time. X3 Also, I forgot to mention it, but I really do like this outfit on her. I think it suits her pretty well, and is just well-designed over all. (That said, I'm still kind of all "Wait, another one?" about another Bernie showing up.)

I'm not sure why you are confused about Bernie showing up again. She has the same amount of versions as Dorothea and Lysithea and one version less than Hilda. All 4 being characters of comparable popularity.

You could also make the argument that she is more popular than the other three (granted you might lose said argument after examining all the data, I'm just saying that the argument can be made and appear reasonable at first glance. After all they made a figure of her, but not of Hilda/Dorothea) and that she is treated worse in Heroes because the other three got to lead a Duo unit and Bernie did not.

If anything I'm more confused about Ashe showing up instead of Felix and Sylvain who are more popular than him, but my theory is that they are both also getting a second version soon, and he just happened to fit the Spring theme better.

I think Ishtar was always destined to be popular once introduced to the wider public. She's a Camus who's also a cute young woman, and reasonably tragic to boot. And I think Karla's a bit of a special case because she in particular is a nobody while the likes of Ishtar, Reinhardt and idunn are at least prominent.

I don't think Karla not being important for the plot of her game is something that matters when the other three appeared in games that are Japan only.

And even if they weren't Japan only they are all far too old. For the vast majority of Heroes' playerbase there was no difference between Ishtar and Karla at their debut. They were both "literally who?"s.

(Also, no idea why IS seems to like Freyja so much.)

It's not IS that likes Freyja so much, it's the FEH community.

Just look at how good she placed in every single CYL she has been a part of. Most of the OCs tend to do very well in their first CYL, but they drop like a brick after that for a combination of reasons, but mostly because we get fresh new OCs every year.

She is together with the Askr trio and Fjorm (and a few others who I'm less sure about) one of the only OCs to defy this trend, getting 46th place in CYL 5, 22nd in CYL6 and 23rd in the most recent CYL 7.

And even if we discount the importance of CYL results because what really matters is sales, according to SensorTower's data both her debut banner with Triandra and her Summer Banner with her brother are among the most lucrative banners of their respective years.

No matter what criteria we use, Freyja has been one of their "best" OCs period, at the very least in the top 10 I would say. Which might partially explain why she is the backpack here. They might be trying to test if she can carry a banner's sales even as a backpack.

It's still perfectly fine to not like her and she is my least favorite from Book 4, but the majority has already decided.

  5. Well the leak was true. Kind of disappointed that Bernadetta and Ashe are Academy versions when they already were that in their previous alt AND they introduced the idea of Three Hopes versions for seasonals. I guess they needed to fill the CUTE quota for the banner, since the Harmonic and Triandra already filled the SEXY quota.

It's interesting that Freyja is the backpack. With this we got Triandra, Peony, Plumeria and Freyja as a backpack. Is backpack Mirabilis coming soon? Backpack bride Mirabilis?

I ... legitimately don't understand why Edelgard fans would pick Fallen Edelgard over Summer Edelgard here to begin with??? Please help

Your first mistake was assuming Edelgard fans are the ones voting for Fallen Edelgard to begin with. Even with her immense popularity I find it unlikely that her fans alone would manage to get a version of her to first place and also carry the fallen version into the gauntlet.

If anything (and I hate to make this argument because I dislike it when the same argument is used against the likes of Gullveig etc.) I suspect the likely culprits could be the ones trying to make people furious for the kicks (trolls) in a joint effort with very casual level players who don't follow the fandom/community at all and are simply mistaken about Hegemon Edelgard actual strenght an utility because they happend to be wrecked by her in the past (she is a big NOOB-STOMPER unit).

  7. It's already that time of the year again. The time when they release a Spring banner with characters dressed as rabbits and hares to celebrate a festival.

But the Spring banner comes with a certain tradition. Another one of the infamous "patterns" that the developers like to play with and break when you least expect it.

The first Spring banner only had characters from Awakening and Fates, which makes some sense as those were the only games at the time that established certain festivals connected with the passing of seasons existed in their world.

Nothing proves that such festivals don't also exist in Tellius, or Jugdral, or Magvel, or anywhere else. But in Ylisse and Nohr they were confirmed to exist already, so it made sense to pick certain characters from there to introduce the concept of not only Sping Heroes, but Seasonal Heroes in general.

One year later they started to branch out more and allow characters from games other than Fates and Awakening to receive seasonal alts. In the case of the Spring Banner they picked the macedonian Catria to be the only "older" character in the banner. Then one year later, they gave a Spring alt to her sister Palla, and the year after that was her other sister's turn.

They could have stopped there and simply settled with giving all the siblings a Spring alt so they could celebrate the festival together, but they kept going and gave Minerva and then Maria a Spring alt. Two sisters who are connected to Catria, Palla and Est, but most importantly they all just happen to come from the same country of Macedon.

So the developers clearly established a pattern of giving a Spring alt to a character from the kingdom of Macedon (only one character) every year.

And there are only two things they can do with patterns: maintain them, or break them.

So do you think they will finally break the pattern this year and give us something completely different?

Or will they maintain the pattern? And in that case, which character will get an alt?

Explain your choice in a comment, and if you'd like to you can also theorycraft the unit in question and guess what kind of unit they will be: premium, demote, Harmonic (are we getting an Harmonic Lena/Natasha perhaps)?

My gut tells me that they will keep this particular pattern for a few more years and that it will most likely be Michalis as a premium healer, both to reference his connection to Maria and to keep the streak of powerful new healer skills going.

Second most likely pick is Lena, also as a powerful 5* healer. But honestly I believe that her, her brother and Michalis are all guaranteed to get the bunny alt and it's just a matter of figuring out which one will get it first. It's Warren and Ymir that worry me. I think it is more likely for them to become a throwaway demote on a seasonal banner rather than on a New Heroes banner, but on the other hand it is even more likely that IS will forget about them entirely.

And I don't think Iote will seriously happen, but if he happens... I'd laugh so hard that he would become one of my favorite units in the game, no joke.

Oof! Ludveck only got like....eight votes. That's a shame because he's actually a pretty good antagonist for Elincia. Also Lekain just has 16 votes.

So, how are you feeling now? XD

Heroes has once again proved that votes mean nothing when you are a villain. They will just add you whenever they want.

  9. 5 minutes ago, Jotari said:

Why is this a Radiant Dawn banner? All of those characters are recruited together in Path of Radiance.

It had to be Radiant Dawn, or we couldn't have my man Ludveck as the GHB! So it was all worth it in the end.

In all seriousness I share your pain for wanting the Dawn Brigade already. Our only sliver of hope is that they did two PoR new heroes in a row, so nothing stops them from doing RD again next year. And they could give us the Dawn Brigade easily.

  10. WOW! I really wasn't expecting this. People were expecting that they would have learned their lesson from 3 Houses and release characters from the new game more quickly instead of just a couple of banner at launch. Turns out we ain't even getting two banners at launch. How unexpected. Still this doesn't have to spell doom for Engage fans. They might still do more than two banners from it in a year, just spaced with other games' banners in between.

But I am rather happy with this banner. Radiant Dawn has been waiting for a long time, and while most of the characters picked are not RD exclusives, which is a shame (poor Dawn Brigade), I can deal with it if it means giving Lucia her superior design.

But seriously, Lucia, Geoff and Bastian were a glaring omission from the Tellius cast, so I'm glad we got them at last.

It's also really cool to have Ludveck as the GHB. For a character like like him, getting into Heroes (and hopefully being good) is the only chance to shine. It also gives me hope that the more popular Jarod will be treated similarly.

Also, I don't think this Ascended means we won't get a Legendary Elincia this year. It just means she isn't in the next Legendary banner.

Correction, there is a timeskip of several months between two chapters in the game. It's not unimportant, but you don't "feel" it ingame the way you do with Genealogy (new cast of heroes) or 3H (new portraits for the former students). It's no worse than the timeskip of like a year Awakening takes after the first story arc is over, and almost equally unnoticeable.

I see, thank you for the correction.

Also as an aside I am not to interested on Jotari's point about not many people playing thracia. The big thing for me is it needs an official release in the USA for me to play it.  But tbh I am not hugely personally intrested in the games for one reason and one reason alone I am not a huge fan of timeskips and they are probably the biggest timeskip fire emblem games.  Even the 5 year gap in three houses I am not a huge fan of and I know thracia is multiple generations so yeah not my thing.

You are getting Thracia confused with Genealogy. Genealogy is the game with multiple timeskips and change of cast. Thracia is a self contained story that begins and ends in the same month or a little more than a month at best.

But as always what would make me happier than any of them (except Dorothy and Jeanne) is a character from Cipher, Warriors or Hasha no Tsurugi.

Well, I guess 5/20 isn't bad at all.

  15. This early CYL blindsided me but I managed to vote everyday for Dorothy. She needs to keep her spot as the most wanted BB character left to add, or they might pull a Fates Kids banner and ignore her. But if the interim reveal a character I really like being top 3 I could give them my last 3 votes.

  17. I really like a lot of the choices here. I like that they went with 3Hopes designs for Dorothea and Annette. It was about time they realized that with a new game on the horizon and 3 different designs to use for each character it would be impossible to use them all, unless they start doing time-skip seasonals. But I really hope they won't use the multiple seasonal alts to justify never giving us Academy Dorothea. She has one of the most memorable Academy Arc designs (only Marianne and Balthus come close IMO) and I WANT IT YESTERDAY!

Cordelia and Selena are adorable together and while this is another Harmonized Duo that "cheats" I can't bring myself to care when they all end up being so wholesome (but Altina/Sanaki is still the best overall).

BK is very funny and one of the few seasonals I can see becoming iconic and beloved for being so out there that you can't help but love it (see also Spring Narcian and Winter Jaffar).

Bruno is pretty random, but he is in the same spot as Sharena, which means I won't complain about any kind of content for him because he needs whatever he can get.

I will be pulling for sure and I can see myself going for multiple sparks depending on my luck.

  18. If we really get only Lord/Avatar characters as DLC then we will get the female version of Robin AND they will count Elincia as a Lord, otherwise the DLC would be a sausage fest.

Assuming Wave 2 and 3 give us three rings each I can see something like this:

Wave 2: Ring of Elincia, Ring of Eliwood/Hector together and Ring of Chrom/Female Robin together.

Wave 3: Ring of Alm, Ring of Seliph/Julia together and Ring of Alfonse.

But they could give us less than three rings each or use non-lords/avatar characters.

In which case IDK who they could pick but Chrom and Alm feel like the safest bet while Seliph, Elincia, Eliwood and Alfonse feel like the most likely of the lords to get screwed over in favor of popular side characters. There's also no guarantee there will be equal representation in the DLC just because there was in the base game. There is a chance the only pre-Awakening character we will get is Tiki.

  19. Well... at least now no character is stuck in the awkward position of being in the game only as a backpack? But even after Hardin there are multiple characters stuck in the awkward position of only being in the game in their fallen form: Orson, Ashnard and Muarim. I would pay gold to see a version of Orson from before the events of Sacred Stones...

Also WTF IS?! TWO characters as important as Nyna and Elice stuck as prfless healers is... not great. I can only hope we get an Arcane Staff soon.

Matthis should have been the 3*-4* unit. That way he could even be part of Forging Bonds.

Ascended Tiki is disappointing. I guess Celica really paved the way for the future.

Ganglot is the best thing about this banner, honestly.

  20. Wow, Haar really is the first unit in the Grail Shop twice. NGL I don't like it. It was nice for variety that we didn't get any character twice in the shop. Also Grail units tend to be worse than summonable units and it was nice that the same character couldn't get screwed twice (screwed the same way twice, I mean. You could still get screwed twice with a base version that is a 5* that has no business being 5* and then a shitty grail version). I don't even like Haar and I feel bad for him.

I like the rest of the banner well enough (8th Camilla is finally here... THE PROPHECY) and Laegjarn + Fjorm is a cute concept for a Duo, but man... it really sucks that Laegjarn gets more whitewashed every time she appears. Come on IS, that is NOT COOL!
