I mean, Brigand and Mercenary don't appear to have any skills either. Maybe Armour knights will just have 5 movement in this game which would make them roughly equal to regular infantry classes, just with more defensive capabilities without any of the low movement.

Yeah that is a point. Personally I actually like that aspect because i'm always down for being surprised and I wouldn't mind if I actually end up helping the bad guys, or just people I don't agree with because that is actually more interesting for me. I do understand that most people probably wont like that though so if this is the case and we are going to war( Which I really fucking hope we are) then I expect to see some backlash from deceived players.

I'm a bigger fan of classes not affecting growth rates, and just having the characters always have their personal growths. Changing them by class makes it too complicated for players to plan and talk about characters if they have around 40 different sets of growth rates. I prefer basing their class on their growths, not the other way.

Since we saw Hubert as a level 16 dark mage(which is tier 2) tier 3 is all but confirmed to be level 20. So if 30 is the level cap then no tier 4. If it is 40 then yes tier 4. i think it will be 40 and their will be a tier 4 because we are being shown footage from relatively early in the game and I don't think that Hubert should be over halfway from his maximum level by then. Also this is a switch game so it is most likely going to be a big game, without extending the level cap to 40 I don't see how the game will even be longer than one fates route, because that would have a total of 40 levels. So I think what we should be debating isn't 30 or 40, but 40 or 50. Pretty sure no matter the level cap we are getting tier 4 classes.

I think some tier 3 classes will have 3 and pretty much all tier 4 classes will have 3. Maybe in some cases you get even more than 3 and have to pick and choose between them.

I don't think the tier 1 classes had any skills. They've been telling us all of the skills so far, I believe that class skills aren't unlocked by level but just obtained when you start a class. Instead it is the professor skills that you gain as you level up weapon ranks. Though perhaps there will be a special skill for each class when you finally 'master' it that will make it worth staying in the class. I do think that they will across the board be inferior to the tier 2 classes because if the tier 2 ones require a better seal to promote then they better be superior.

Thing is I'm pretty sure it goes Myrmidon - Mercenary - Hero - Vanguard. It doesn't make sense that classes obtained at level 5 and level 10 would be the same tier. Plus I'm pretty sure the article even stated the level 5 classes were beginner classes and the level 10 ones were intermediate. For example why would monk use the exact same weapons as mage and yet they are unlocked at different levels which clearly implies that mage is just the upgraded version of Monk. So I doubt that myrmidon is getting a separate class line as it seems to be able to promote into any sword wielding class: Mercenary, Thief, Archer, Cavalier and Pegasus knight. Why would you choose myrmidon over any of these classes, you wouldn't because they are on different tiers. I mean sure if you wanted to you could keep someone as a myrmidon and wait until tier 3 to promote into one of those classes but there isn't much reason to do so.

Soldier is a tier 1 class though. The only lance wielding tier 2 classes we have seen are Armour knight, Cavalier and Pegasus Knight, and I don't think anymore are coming. So at least from tier 1 to tier 2 there will be no upgraded soldier class unfortunately. As @HappyHawlucha. said however there is still a chance of a foot lance wielder being a class in tier 3 or tier 4 if that exists so it isn't ruled out yet.

In one of the Famitsu articles Dorothea was training to become a Warlock. Maybe that is the dual Sword and Magic user in this game.

Give him Gauntlets, which he has a strength in btw, and he will quadruple enemies and thereby do +20 the usual damage from his skill. Low tier my ass, I'd consider putting this in High tier just for the early game damage nukes.

I actually hated his design at first and openly laughed when I saw him in the February direct. But now it has really grown on me and I do want to know more about him.

He has a D rank in Lances, and only an E+ rank in Axes so he is very much intended to be a traditional lance knight.

Sylvain's family 100% has a crest at least because the black beast in the feb direct showed it using a crest stone of Gautier, which is his last name. Not confirmed that he himself has one because there is a chance he might not inherit it but i'd be willing to bet he will almost certainly have one.

This is actually a pretty solid theory. I'm buying it purely because it sounds cool. Lots of people are saying that this could be Gautier' crest, but I don't know why.

Ok, so this just contradicted our crest theory. Mercedes has a crest even though her surname Martriz isn't on the map. Additionally, I read on this site that Lysithea's last name is Cordelia, her name also isn't on the map, yet she too has a crest. NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANYMORE. But we do have fishing, I just hope it won't be like Sonic adventure fishing.

But she starts with E rank in Armour. Every strength a student has had started with at least E+ rank which means that it is very unlikely Bernadetta is proficient in it. Has anyone considered that the blue arrow could just be showing that she did the most work of the two, or just happened to get more than normal from the task. If it was just showing she was proficient in it the arrow would be more likely to appear next to the armour rank. Petra has a D rank in Flying so it is very likely that she has a strength in Flying, and since she got the arrow after her task I assume people are taking this to mean it shows a strength but I doubt that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe we have ever seen Claude's proficiency's. We have seen Edelgard who Had Axes, Swords, Authority and Armour. We saw Dimitri having Lances, Swords, Authority and Riding. But we haven't seen Claude's yet so you can't confirm that. I personally do think that Claude will have a strength in flying because it matches the other lords having one movement type skill and Byleth being an infantry unit, but you can't act like it is confirmed yet. We will have to wait for the next Famitsu where it will most likely be shown.

I definitely believe that the level 5 and level 10 classes are different tiers. Look at Monk and Mage. They are proficient in the exact same weapons yet one is unlocked later which to me clearly shows a gap in power between them. Similarly Myrmidon and Soldier seem greatly inferior to Mercenary and Cavalier which wouldn't make sense if they were same tier classes that just were unlocked later. Why would they give cavaliers more move, swords and Super canto and say it's just as good as the soldier. Yes every fire emblem isn't 100% balanced with it's classes but why would they choose to bring back super canto if it wasn't just superior to soldier in every way. I think there will be 5 tiers. For example Noble - Myrmidon - Mercenary - Hero - Vanguard. Or Commoner - Fighter - Brigand - Warrior - Berserker.

Why would you think that. We've had plenty of information on the subject. Every student plus Byleth start out as Nobles or Commoners (Tier 0 classes) Then as they gain levels they can take exams to change into other higher classes. Level 5 unlocks the tier 1 classes like Myrmidon and Fighter, Level 10 unlocks tier 2 classes like Mercenary and Cavalier. There is no reason for Caspar to be special because everyone starts of in the same situation as him.
