Realistically, one can only achieve level 30 post time skip.

    Now unto speculation:

    • Bow Knight (as we know): Lance - C, Bow - A, Riding - A
    • Falcon Knight: Lance - A, Flying - A
    • Wyvern Lord: Axe - A, Flying - A
    • Dark Knight: Lance - C, Reason - A, Riding - A
    • Holy Knight: Lance - C, Faith - A, Riding - A
    • Mortal Savant: Sword - A, Reason - A or S
    • Gremory: Reason - A, Faith - A
    • War Master: Axe - A, Brawl - A
    • Great Knight: Axe - A, Heavy Armor - A, Lance or Riding - C
    • Dancer - win the dance contest or Sword D+

Generally agree with this, except I'd say Great Knight will be A Lances, A Riding, and C Armour. It seems less a progression for Fortress Knights than Paladins.

Also, with Dancer... (using a bit of info from the Thani-leak, so I'll put it in spoilers just to be safe):

    Spoiler

Thani said that Manuela could be a Dancer or make one of your units a Dancer. So I assume that she gives you a "Dancer Seal" that maybe requires... Swords C and Female?

(And going off of that, perhaps Hanneman gives you the Dark Seal which we know needs Reason C and Male to make a Dark Mage.)

  2. What I'm confident on:

    • Dimitri: ^^ Swords, Lances, Authority, Riding ---- vv Bows, Faith ---- HT ???
    • Dedue: ^^ Lances, Axes, Brawling, Armour ---- vv Faith, Riding, Flying ---- HT None
    • Felix: ^^ Swords, Bows, Brawling ---- vv Reason, Authority ---- HT Reason
    • Ashe: ^^ Axes, Bows ---- vv Reason ---- HT Lances
    • Mercedes: ^^ Reason, Faith ---- vv Swords, Spears, Axes ---- HT Bows
    • Annette: ^^ Axes, Reason, Authority ---- vv ??? ---- HT ???
    • Sylvain: ^^ Lances, Axes, Riding ---- vv Bows ---- HT ???
    • Ingrid: ^^ Swords, Lances, Riding, Flying ---- vv ??? ---- HT ???

    Notes:

    • Dimitri's only unknowns are Armour and Flying. Both Edelgard and Claude have Hidden Talents and we don't know if Dimitri has one yet. I could see Armour for him.
    • Dedue is fully known.
    • Felix is fully known, unless he has a second Hidden Talent in Riding or Flying but I doubt that's possible.
    • Ashe's only questions are his Movement Skills, but we know he starts with E's in them so no Strengths at least.
    • Mercedes might have a a Strength or Weakness in the Movement Skills that we haven't seen.
    • Annette is the big question mark. She's definitely strong in Axes, Reason, Authority but we have no idea on anything else.
    • Sylvain is known, except for any Hidden Talent.
    • Ingrid has four Strengths known, but could have more. (Though so far we haven't seen anyone with more than four.) She seems to be Neutral in Brawling and Faith (from Seminar calculations), leaving Axes, Bows, Reason and Armour unknown. It's also unknown if she has a Hidden Talent.

    Edit: So like this:

A preview with gameplay some cool things are shown like, Dorathea with levin sword, and Edelgard's crit and evade animations.

At 0:57 Edelgard has a Goddess Ring.

So Rings are back from Echoes!

And at 8:38 Edelgard learns Deathblow for Mastering Brigand.

  4. From the Kotaku videos, what I think is the starting Skill ranks for the Golden Deer are:

    Points of note:

    • Despite no Strength in it, Claude seems to start with a E+ in Riding.
    • Marianne starts D+ in Faith.
    • Leonie starts in D+ Lances.
    • Golden Deer lack anyone like Ferdinand or Petra (with four ranks above E) but Hilda is the only one with the D/E+ set-up (four Black Eagles had that).

I didn't have to figure them out like with the Black Eagles, as everyone was at level 1 (except Claude at 4 and Hilda at 3) and there hadn't even been a week of lecturing - just Tutoring and a touch of combat. Claude is the only one that's really weirding me out with that E+ Riding.

    A reminder of Black Eagles:

...Well, everyone but Mercedes. It sounded very weird to my ears.

Raphael and Mercedes are also the ones that jumped out at me as being... not as good. Mercie sounds a bit too much like someone doing a voice, and Raph just doesn't have the rumble of a young man who is that big. It's far too normal.

...Gilbert being her dad is pretty interesting! Though they have quite the strong family resemblance it makes me wonder why no one has theorized about this already 😛

I think after super-early guesses about Sylvain and Ferdinand being brothers (due to their close physical resemblance) turned out to just be a case of artistic same-face, people stopped looking for things like that. (Although I guess there has been speculation about Mercedes and Jeritza.)

Well the examples we got before with Ferdinand and Dorothea got 8 exp to Ferdinand, 5 to Dorothea, and 7 to Byleth. Rather it seems like things went very well there(so exp x2? Byleth also got 10 authority instead of 5), maybe it's random, or maybe Ignatz and Raphael are friends?

Also confirmation that the Byleth template we've seen most starts at E Faith. Somehow they have exp in nothing so maybe those are their bases despite being level 6?:

    Dc9Om2W.jpg

Ahh. I recall in the Ingrid hypothetical her and Byleth had received 14 into Faith and the latter had 10 into Authority. There was the possibility that it was from two Choir Practises, but now we can see it might just be one boosted one. It'd be easy to say the boosted 14 is a neutral 7 x 2, but Ferdi getting 8 throws that off.

They (Dorothea and Ferdinand) both had blue up arrows... maybe Choir Practise would give 7 exp, +1 for the blue arrow? And then if you're Weak in Faith (like Dorothea) you get the initial seven halved (and rounded up to four) before adding the plus one from the arrow? (I went and checked Group Tasks to see if it lined up, but arrowless Edelgard and Bernadetta both got 8 exp in Flying from that...)

    //

The Byleth being what appears to be starting ranks while at level 6 is very odd, but we did see something similar in the direct (where Linhardt was level 6 and had flat skill ranks). Hard to say why... maybe something to do with a New Game+? Either way, that once again we see a Byleth starting with an E+ in Brawling is leading me to believe that we don't get to choose secondary Strengths, and that one's Byleth will always be Sword/Brawl/Authority Strong.

    • BIack Eagles
    • Blue Lions
    • Golder Deer
    • Silver Wolves

Any speculations of what the wave 4 could be?

My fingers are crossed for a full fourth house being integrated completely into the game, made up of foreign students from all the surrounding nations (Sreng, Albinea, Almyra, and Morfio).

This is also a free action, apparently.

Hmmm... maybe if a Sunday has the icon, you get to do it for free?

In the E3 Treehouse presentation we saw Dining and Choir Practise take action points... and checking the calendar... ahh, no. Dining is on there. So the icon doesn't give you a free go.

Maybe... you get a free try at the beginning of the game? But no, this Byleth has 3 action points and are in the 9th month.

    Interesting...

(And honestly, being free of actions points is probably the only way I'd do it.)

  7. Grapplers and Assassins apparently have 6 movement, which is the same as Pegasus Knights and only one less than Cavaliers and Wyvern Riders' 7. (Paladins are - so far - the only unit with 8 movement.) And the movement boosting Gambit should be handy for helping everyone keep up.

You also need to devote skill training to the Movement types to unlock those classes, meaning you're not raising a potentially useful Weapon skill.

  8. That's cool. (And makes the Lord class more appealing for Edelgard and Claude if it helps grow their Authority, even if they don't get much out of the boost to Lances like Dimitri does.)

    [On Ingrid]

I feel that while the numbers match, you may have had the right idea by thinking of choir practice early on, since it would cover for both the experience being higher than a strengthless seminar with Manuela would give, and Byleth and Ingrid having the same Faith levels without either of them having a strength with an E rank. Two choir practices would give both of them 14 exp if they're neutral from my understanding of it, + 10 authority to Byleth. And while going pixel perfect may or may not be wise, if you resize the image so that the bar is 60 pixels long, 6 pixels are filled, which matches. It's just two points though, so that doesn't weigh all that much.

I didn't realise it until later, but Ingrid can be seen in the E3 footage to (probably) not start with a Faith Prowess (she has Swords 2, Lances 2, Authority 1 as a level 14 Cavalier). I think that backs the Manuela Seminar and Strong E Faith for her and Byleth, as odd as the latter seems.

This gets me back to wondering if you're going to be given a "free" Seminar at the beginning of the game, to introduce you to the mechanic. I'd imagine early on that players would be more likely to be exploring the monastery on Sundays than doing a Seminar...

I don't believe you need a goal in Authority to gain exp through combat/healing though, only an equipped battalion. That's mostly because I don't think we've seen a single combat interaction with battalion equipped not give authority. We do also have a straightforward example with Linhardt in the treehouse coverage, as we know his focuses to be Lances and Riding, and yet by simply attacking, he earns 2 exp in Authority. It doesn't come from his class, either; I don't think Mercedes' case is any different. In general I don't think combat exp is tied to focuses at all, an example of that being F!Byleth gaining sword and authority when equipped with a sword, and only lance and authority when equipped with a lance in the King of Beasts Gamespot footage. Unless we're looking at a solo authority focus, here.

Yeah, my understanding of how experience gets attributed from Combats was totally wrong. I thought the three possible slots were for the: Weapon Used, Goal #1, Goal #2. But I guess they're: Weapon Used, Movement Skill (if class has one), Authority (if Battalion is equipped).

(I wonder if Authority will actually count as a "Movement Skill" for the Lord Class, boosting its growth...)

  10. I have the same questions regarding hidden talents. It makes it hard to decide how much they're worth pursuing. I don't think it's rank based, though.

In the two examples we've seen, Dorothea gains hers with 7 points to go until a D rank (so 93 put in) and Hubert with 61 until D+ (119). But Dorothea has a -2 every Tutoring due to her Faith Weakness that Hubert's Neutral Lances doesn't have. At that point as well, Dorothea is up to a B+ in Reason and D in Swords, while Hubert is B in Reason and Authority, suggesting it's a fair bit into the game. But who knows how much they used them in combat, or focused on unlocking them?

Interestingly, while Dorothea has changed her Goals to be pure Reason, Hubert is Lances and Reason. The latter might hint that more than just tutoring can be used to unlock it. Maybe.

@VincentASM's breakdown of it translates it as "After tutoring this level a certain number of times, the student’s talent in that level may bloom!" Which certainly sounds more like only Tutoring will get results.

From all the new videos, the Golden Deer:

  11. On Strengths that start as E: I think you're correct, in that we haven't definitely seen anyone with such a situation. I strong suspect Ingrid is Strong in Faith while an E though, but that's not for sure. In the Death Knight chapter played at E3, a level 14 Ingrid (as a Cavalier) has [Lady Knight // Move Again // Swords 2, Lances 2, Authority 1] so I'm pretty sure she starts with an E in Faith. But in a Famitsu screenshot we see a level 2 Ingrid with D's in Swords and Lances, and E+ in Faith.

    FETH21.thumb.jpg.64f4d4c4d70b7ccfee9211e

If she's been through two bouts of lecturing with her Goals of Strong E+ Swords and D Lances, they'd each receive 64 points. Plus one early Seminar with Manuela at the beginning would grant 30 points to a Strong E+ Swords, and 48 points to a Strong E Faith. That would put her Swords into a D, with 34/80 in the experience bar, Lances at D with 64/80 filled, and Faith at an E+ with 8/60 filled. Which fits the image pretty well. If Faith's not a Strength, she'd only get 32 points into it. So I think a Strong E might be possible.

    //

On Leonie: I forgot that her art is all in on being an Archer. She even has a special shooting glove. So yeah, D Bows makes sense. Like you said, the Swords 5 doesn't, and neither does that authority. I have no clue how to square it with what we know.
