Swordmaster yes, at least for Byleth. Crit builds are fun. Astra... Literally the only reason to master Swordmaster is for completion sake on a NG+ file.

Edelgard. But between having Aymr and the Edelgard color scheme, Byleth will be good enough. Side note: now I actually know how to pronounce Aymr! I've seen people suggest that, but how would the switch mechanic look? Pokemon Trainer at least has the excuse of Pokeballs.

I'll give you that, but what bothers me about her is how she demands everyone conform to her standards. I felt so bad for Raphael in their supports, and her support with Claude is just awful. Anyway: Caspar: God I love the little guy. Yes, he's kinda the typical hotheaded shonen protagonist, but he really genuinely gives a damn about those around him. And he does come to understand that the reckless approach leads to trouble in the long run, even if he can't fully let go of those tendencies. Alois: If I were actually Byleth, nothing would get done because I would spend all day competing with Alois for best (worst?) dad jokes.

I didn't want to reward Youtube's dickish behavior with money, but I did the 3-month free trial and...I can't go back to ads...I just can't... EDIT: I have tried a couple ad blockers, but they didn't work on Youtube. Guess Google either paid them off or threatened them somehow.

Gatekeeper

The game looks at all the characters that have achieved A or A+ support and chooses which pairs have the highest support points of all of them. A+ automatically beats A. S automatically beats both (so as not to screw up your choice). The best way to control is just have the chosen pairs near each other as much as possible. The easiest way is to only allow 1 A support for each character (in addition to whichever character you're S-ranking, since it won't get messed up), but then you won't get the A rank bonuses as much.

Dorothea. Super hot, super nice, sassy, a real sweetheart. The one time I didn't recruit her, I refused to kill her even as she was shooting me with the magic turret.

I was wondering where this got moved to. I will give her this bit of credit: as a character, she's effective at what she does. She has aspects that are both good and bad, to drive home the moral ambiguity. Edelgard is the same way. To shout "ONE GOOD OTHER BAD" misses the point no matter where you put them. The whole point is to ask you to make hard decisions. So, I do think Rhea is an effective character, and wouldn't change her. But the topic was asking if I like her, presumably meaning as a person, and I don't.

But that's exactly my problem right there. She refuses to even acknowledge that Byleth exists at all. The whole point of seating them on Sothis' throne was to get Sothis to "take control" of their body. To her you always were and always will be a soulless vessel for Sothis. You can tell just by how devastated she sounds when you sit on the throne and nothing happens.

If only we could get snippets of her English voice. I don't wanna wait 2 weeks to hear it!

I'm sure their timeskip forms will be fast-tracked for the game at minimum. Dorothea got 7 for the girls, so I'm thrilled. I've only seen the top 10s for now; I'm at work and don't want to view the full list on my phone.

Is she attractive? Sure. But the Oedipus complex absolutely positively 100% ruins her. Even during her death scene in SS, after YOU, not Sothis, spent months looking for her, Rhea still can't see you as anything more than her mother. I'm told she says otherwise in her S Support, but I don't buy it. And even if I didn't agree with Edelgard's cause, Rhea still tried to have my soul and body consumed by Sothis.

While I agree that she should become playable, I feel like we would've found that out by now if she were.

Same here. Warlock Caspar is all kinds of silly. For Byleth, if you've already trained their Faith and Reason, you'll just need one run where you focus on Flying, with a quick detour for Gremory.

As far as Randolph himself, he doesn't get enough screen time to flesh him out enough that you could care about him. He's not much better than the nameless enemies you fight in that regard.

That wasn't stated, but don't underestimate the effects of living a rough life. I used to work with a woman who you would swear was in her late 50s/early 60s, but she was only 41.

To explain that one, Thales (having replaced Arundel already) convinced some of the other heads of Imperial noble houses to stage a coup, stripping power away from the emperor to take for themselves. Afterwards, Thales had Slither agents abduct Ionius' children to perform the experiments on them. The emperor KNEW the horrible things being done to Edelgard and the others, but no longer had the power to do anything to save them. If you've at least seen the coronation scene, you see just how horrible he feels for what happened to his children; that's why he so willingly gives Edelgard the crown. And I know you were kidding about the senility thing, but he really is in terrible health. His voice is low and sounds like he's gasping for breath all the time, and he does the "Chronic Cough of Imminent Death" (TM) is half his lines. He probably had months or even weeks left to live anyway.

Just by looks, Hapi. She's super hot. Of the profiles I've seen (did I miss Hapi's or has it not been translated yet?), Constance sounds like she'll be a lot of fun. And is also quite pretty in an elegant, classy way.
