  1. Hi there everyone. My name is Mangs and I have recently started a new series called the Fire Emblem Echoes, Shadows of Valentia character previews. These are very similar to the spotlights I have done before, only that they are shorter, completely free of spoilers, and showcases some of the upcoming characters we will see in Gaidens remake, Shadows of Valentia. The purpose of these previews is to entertain both veterans who enjoyed gaiden, as well as showing newer players what kind of characters they can expect in the new release. I will showcase their new art next to the old one and make comparisons on how they’ve changed. Since growth rates and bases will arguably remain the same in the remake, I am also going over their Gaiden stats just to give the viewers an idea of how the unit will perform. I will update this thread as more previews are made, and add them to this list as well. I appreciate any feedback you might have to give me, and of course, if there’s any characters you’d like to see me make previews of next, let me know in this thread, or in the comment section of one of my videos! 2. I made this based on the information in the thread. I also credited you and this thread in the video.
  3. I think it has everything to do with how the final boss is “booked”, in lack of a better term, and human characters just happen to be easier to develop since they are more relateable, but don’t tend to feel as “epic” as a big bad monster or god. Personally, this was my reaction to the final bosses we have in Fire Emblem. Medeus (monster): I thought Medeus was very boring in both his forms. He doesn’t have much dialogue at all, and we hardly get to know his motives. He isn’t a bad villain, but he isn’t particularly good either. Fighting him felt slightly more epic in his shadow dragon form, but it wasn’t anything spectacular on my part. Duma (god): I haven't fought Duma personally, just watched a LP. He is pretty bad as far as a villain goes. While he has an interesting design, he was a big let down. Yurius (human): While he is possessed by a god, I consider him a human as he doesn't have any monster form (though I guess this can be debated). I don't think Yurius himself is super amazing compared to the rest of the cast in Fe4, Alvis & Manfroy are much more impactful villains, but he was still a very decent final boss to me. Berdo (human): A complete joke. Not worthy of being the final boss of an otherwise fantastic game. Idoun (monster): I thought Zephiel was a much cooler. Her fight didn’t feel special at all, she had zero dialogue until the fight itself. Nergal (human): I kinda count Nergal as the final boss of Fe7, despite the dragon being the last fight. I thought Nergal was one of the most impactful villains, and his fight was one of the more epic ones I’ve experienced in Fire Emblem as a whole. The dragon (which I kinda count as the second phase of the fight) was a very intimidating finale. Demon King (monster): I thought the Demon King was a complete joke. Ashnard (human): Definitely one of Fire Emblem’s stronger villains. Again, he isn’t shown much, but the buildup to him is very intense, and the final fight is amazing, particularly on hard mode. Ashera (god): Fighting a goddess never felt more dull, a stupid final boss not worthy of being called a god. Grima (god): Perhaps Fire Emblem’s weakest villain yet, I was so fucking disappointed with Grima both as a character and as a fight. He could have ended the whole fight with a singular barrel-roll. Garon (monster): I actually thought Garon’s final form in Birthright was a decent fight. He looks scary as a blight dragon, and it felt pretty epic, I just wish he was tougher. Takumi (human): I really fucking loved Takumi as the final boss of Conquest, it felt extremely epic and the fight itself was so masterfully done, even if it didn’t make much sense to me. Anankos (god): While Revelations itself was a huge letdown, Anankos was a spectacular bossfight that kept me engaged and entertained from start to finish, even if he as a villain sucked. So we have 4 monsters, 4 gods and 5 humans. 2 out of 4 monsters were decent. None of the gods stood out. And 4 out of the 3 humans were done right. Again, I won’t say one is better then another, but it seems to be like human bosses are much easier to do right.I think it has everything to do with how the final boss is “booked”, in lack of a better term, and human characters just happen to be easier to develop since they are more relate-able, but don’t tend to feel as “epic” as a big bad monster.
  4. So I’ve recorded all 8 chapters now, and will be releasing them on my channel over the next week, and all I can say is, wow… this was an experience. I haven't had this much fun in forever! In my opinion, this is the best made Fire Emblem hack I've played so far. It trumps all the others out there by a mile. The writing, the map design, the characters, everything is done perfectly. At the end of the 8 episodes, I will dedicate an entire video to reviewing the plot, story and perks of this hack. This is amazing work, and it deserves coverage! I hope my channel will help showcase your hack and get it out to as many people as possible. I seriously hope you will finish it one day!
  5. As promised, here's the first part of me LP'ing this hack! Here's a link to the official thread!
  6. Starting out this amazing hack today, I was pleasantly surprised by how well put together this was. Everything from the writing to the map design looks freaking fantastic, and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself so far. This hack is quickly becoming one of my favorite hacks ever!
  7. Summer is here and I've decided that it's time to play a new Fire Emblem hack. Requiem has gotten requested more than any other hack, probably because it is finished, which I respect a great deal. So I suppose you can all expect a Requiem LP on my channel sometime in the near future!
  8. Well that is a terrible shame. I was looking forward to actually do a LP of the hack, because it showed great promise, but if it truly is abbadoned, it will feel pretty meaningless for me as a LP’er to give it any exposure. Such is the fate of too many hacks these days though. Too many unique and flashy features means the developers bite over way more than they can chew, and since hacks have limited manpower, they often end up being stuck in limbo somewhere after chapter 7-8. It really sucks that the hacking community is so terrible at finishing their projects. Again, I hope nobody takes this the wrong way. I am not bashing on anyone here, I just think it’s such as shame that so many promising projects are abandoned. I understand it’s a lot of working involved in creating hacks, and I’m sure there’s good reasons for cancelling, but I wish we would have a few more finished hacks at this point, and it doesn’t look like there’s gonna be more of them any time soon.

    NEW HACK

    Making a LP of this.
  11. Fe1: Sheeda is a decent unit, but is rendered obsolete by Minerva. Fe2: Falcon Knights are on absolute steroids since they do effective damage to monsters. Fe3 B1: Sheeda is still pretty good, but again is rendered obsolete by Minerva. Fe3 B2: Catria & Paula are godlike, they carry the entire second book, so they are amazing here. Fe4: Canto solves many of the problems pegasus knights have, with Fury & Fee/Femina being able to move out of range of archers and the like after attacking, so they are pretty good in this game. Fe5: Pegasus Knights are pretty weak in Thracia 776 due to dismounting being a thing in-door, but Karin is still pretty useful in some maps. Fe6: Thany sucks, Tate is good, but she doesn’t show up until later, and again a red-headed lady completely obsoletes any fliers you might have when she shows up. Fe7: Florina is good, but difficult to train, and Fe7’s early-game is crawling with axes and archers. Fe8: Everything is overpowered in Fe8. Fe9: Jill & Haar laughs at your stupid winged ponies. Fe10: See Fe9 Fe11: Sheeda is amazing in this game, wing spear rules all. Fe12: See Fe11. Fe13: Pegasus Knights return to being pretty lackluster. Fe14: Nothing much changed.
  12. As if I didn't hate Eirika enough already.
  13. So I've been deciding what hacks to play this summer and I've come to remember that I actually promised my subscribers a LP of this hack. So I'll probably get around to LP'ing it sometime soon!
