  1. it's confirmed to be "Barbarian", ever since the demo version. it wasn't ever really going to be a case of Brigand "again", since their Japanese names are very different. speaking of curiosities, I'm wondering about Great Shield and Holy Shield. did they call Great Shield "Pavise" again, and if so was Holy Shield renamed to match it?
  2. Huh, I thought that nobody in Champions of Yore wielded "divine" weapons of any description, being that they're hilariously powerful relative to the easiest DLC maps by design. At any rate, this says Julia's only packing Arcthunder in CY1, but that she has Naga in CY3. (also suddenly I really want "Naga's Ideals" to be a thing - one could argue that, outside of the Pokémon reference, it sort of fits?)
  3. you forgot Mystletainn (though if someone can provide the name of Owain's personal sword it may be guessable) if the SpotPass and DLC distributions come out in the same order and timeframes as the Japanese version, we should expect to see Tyrfing, Gae Bolg and Holsety on the actual launch date with the release of the FE4 gen1 SpotPass set, and we'll have to wait a month or so for Mystletainn, Thorhammer and Naga to turn up in the possession of their wielders in the King vs King DLC series
  4. Waitasec, is it just me or did they actually have enough space to throw an "a" in there to spell it properly? It'd be a tight squeeze, but if the Parallel Falchion is anything to go by they don't mind those.
  5. The sad part is that they somehow fit "Parallel Falchion" in that space with no problem. You'd think they'd have taken steps to implement a half-width font for situations like this, like they did in FE11 (admittedly the need for it here isn't as great).
  6. I was hoping they'd make the F/V switch for it! Not sure what this means re Fala's name, but it's not like that was relevant to FE13. I am very okay with these (though I admit I quite liked "Swanchika"...) now bring on Holsety
  7. pray tell, what's wrong with "Inigo" that is, objectively speaking and completely ignoring the Princess Bride aspect
  8. oh my fucking god it's like NoA knows all my deepest hopes and dreams thank you NoA
  9. That's from the Background website's retelling of the story. It'll take a bit of poking around to find it, but it - among others - is there.
  10. holy shit, was "Nowi" actually a contraction of "no way" all along =O in general these children name changes are pretty great (I'll kind of miss Azure but w/e)
  11. man I love the new meaning they inserted into this, but I'm also slightly disappointed it wasn't "Serena" (if extremely glad it wasn't "Selena" again)
  12. Literally the only loss from changing Nowi's dialogue like this is that her Lon'qu support was pretty interesting insofar her lack of understanding of human norms. Quite frankly, anything that makes Nowi less of a disturbing character is a good thing for the game (particularly in light of how they don't seem to have edited her portrait or artwork).
  13. currently hoping and praying that they decided to rename Speedwings to "Super Absorbent Wings"
  14. "Nan" or "nanna" are generic terms for a hired female caretaker of someone else's child, typically employed by nobility and often portrayed in fiction as being middle-aged to elderly (indeed, some use the term to refer to their grandmothers). Chrom's nanna could potentially be Sumia's mother, his own grandmother or basically any number of miscellaneous characters who we don't meet in the course of the game. We just don't know, and it's not important as far as the game's story is concerned.
  15. oh my god this one is amazing consider my curiosity sated; thanks! :P
  16. Even if it hasn't been all that long since she was posted, wow. That's actually rather impressive and mildly disappointing, I love good internet drama
  17. Suddenly I really want to see the inevitable Facebook comments furore over Nintendo, the so-called "KIDDY FAMILY FRIENDLY COMPANY", posting a skimpily-clad female on their Facebook page... :P (on the other hand that'd involve a Facebook account... ick)
  18. Actually, I really like the Falcon Knight terminology. I interpret it as a honorific title - for whatever reason the term "falcon" is culturally associated in-universe with some sort of ideal pegasus performance (something to do with speed?), so the best pegasus knights get called Falcon Knights or something. In that respect I would also support the retention of "Dragon Knight" under the same pretext, if in a slightly modified capacity; after all, I think we can all agree that "dragon" brings to mind a certain connotation of power and majesty, so it's like a natural honorific for the best wyvern riders. For example, the base form would be "Wyvern Rider/Knight/whatever" and the promoted form is "Dragon Rider/Knight/whatever". I guess it's a little late for that, but I can dream, and it's arguably a justification for current situation of the Japanese versions and the English FE10 and FE11 going with the "dragon" terminology.
  19. That video in general is quite obviously sped up by at least 2x, and so isn't indicative of the actual in-game music performance in its current state. I've just found a (mostly; a few parts are) non-sped-up recording of The Strongest One's Name on NicoNico (parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and it sounds pretty much identical to the original FE8 use of the song.
  20. The Japanese site didn't list every single character either (the English site is literally identical to the Japanese one). Very few game official websites do; hell, the English FE10 site lists even fewer characters! A character's absence from the official website is definitely not a sign of "censorship"; literally all it means is that they're not on the official website, which is meaningless as far as the end product is concerned.
  21. Assuming either way until more concrete evidence is provided is kind of silly, but it's not the most relevant of points anyway - Nils and Ninian are half-dragon, with a human father. One could easily argue that if this makes them (and Nn) constitute the lower end of dragon lifespans, then that just makes Nowi more worring, but it's 2AM and I couldn't be bothered
  22. The front page has a "recent topics" box in its sidebar. This is a recent topic. Ergo, he saw a topic talking about the Nowi situation listed in the box and decided to weigh in. It's really not that difficult a train of thought.
