  1. why haven't they criminalised the act of me image-manipulating yet
  2. Actually, no - there is no unused data where Roy (or anyone else afaik) is specifically a "female" Mercenary. That screenshot used on the main site was, like many of the other screenshots on the unused content page, derived from modifying the game to temporarily change Roy's class to the "female" Mercenary to show off its unique map appearance, much as one would use an Action Replay or whatever to manually modify, say, Lyn into a Druid or whatever.
  3. Questionable art is questionable art, and it is disingenuous to claim peoples' distaste for it derives solely from the different artists involved, especially when there are plenty of people who don't know or particularly care who the artist is. If Senri Kita, a series artist, came out with a shitty art piece for a hypothetical future DLC package, that would make no difference to me than if any other random artist I've never heard of came out with a shitty art piece for the same. Also, as you have outright acknowledged, half of these guest-artist characters have received comparatively positive reception (and Roy's in-game model is completely irrelevant to the artwork quality; that's IS's prerogative, not the artist's), and if you accept Elincia's mixed reception as being comparatively positive for the sake of argument (at this point it could indeed swing either way), that just leaves Micaiah.. just one of these four artworks which apparently everyone wants to hate because they came from non-FE artists is actually actively hated. This is not their other work. This is Fire Emblem. They were hired specifically to do art for a Fire Emblem game, so it follows that there is an expectation that the finished result should conceivably fit a Fire Emblem environment (and most of them do!). No-one is asking for everyone to draw things in such a way that looks exactly like Kent or Florina or whatever; we're merely asking for plausible attire conformity with the setting and everyone else in it, and in that respect armour plating which can be reasonably compared to a mecha stylistically does not work. That's not even the problem with Micaiah - ignoring everything else about the picture, her outfit is exactly what female Dark Mages wear in this game; it's not like she suddenly turned into a Fate/Stay Night character.
  4. If the choice of Elincia to match Ike is anything to go by, then Lilina seems at least plausible.
  5. I could be wrong here, but I'm beginning to strongly suspect that this Elincia is actually some sort of fancy mecha in human form. Seriously, look at that armour. If that doesn't scream "ornate fighting robot in disguise", I don't know what does. Eh at least she doesn't look like some kind of limp sex doll
  6. I am very, very okay with this. Not sure why it's in the Elincia DLC, but whatever.
  7. it's a skill which you'll one day find you truly appreciate when it proves its use
  8. so this appears to be an entry on my part not a particularly good one but eh
  9. They'll leave Tiki untranslated, like her actress's other Nintendo role.
  10. that makes me miss miss the days where Nihil was a thing ;___________________________________; of course if it existed they'd probably make it not protect against Lunatic+ skills
  11. No, there is definitely no 3DS emulator, and I wouldn't expect one for quite a while. At this time much of the 3DS's functionality would not be feasible to emulate on standard computing devices, not to mention that afaik (don't quote me on this) the software is proving... troublesome to crack.
  12. ...Along with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Pokémon etc displays. One of which doesn't currently have anything in the works at all as far as anyone knows. According to a Nintendo World employee who posted on GoNintendo in response to news of this display circulating: (comment isolated out of the bullshit by EarthBound Central) These are employees of a store. They are not involved with Nintendo's actual operations on any level. This display is at least two months old; why would they be privy to NoA's localisation intentions over two months before the game in question has even been released in Japan, never mind before the announcement of the game's localization? They've no reason to be. Not to mention, there are unofficial goods and games which will never see an actual American release in there, the sorts of things NoA is highly unlikely to put in any "proper" promotional material for FE13. At the end of the day, they're just us, except they happen to work in a Nintendo store and have taken advantage of that fact. This is simply not an official sign from NoA concerning the game's American fate. Are they promoting the series in general? Yes, that's a given. Are they aware of the existence of FE13? Probably. Do they have confirmation of an American release of the game? No, and they won't until an announcement comes.
  13. That was arranged by Nintendo World employees, who are by no means Nintendo officials. These displays have no bearing on Nintendo's potential future plans; after all, note that they also have a very sizable MOTHER display...
  14. Is that seriously the Talys map again seriously look if it was a bigger and more substantial map I'd understand its repetition here - I've certainly seen cases where the same chapter is reused but plays very differently - but come on it's the first chapter of its games of origin, one which doesn't even have anything to do with Roy! This is just a little bit worrying as far as the DLC's approach. I guess we'll see once footage of Leaf's crops up.
  15. Just confirming that they were all originally very different strings of text, so... actually I'm not sure where I was going with this.
  16. I concur with the notion to have the dialogue font changed; the US FE7 dialogue font is pretty bleh in its native context (seriously, what was it with the wave of ugly tall fonts on firstparty GBA titles in the early 2000s?), and it somehow looks even worse in FE4. Any idea where the Thracia translation patch got its font from? It's a rather nice font, and if both patches used it (assuming the people debating its revision don't intend to remove it), it'd be a further nice way to bridge some consistency between the two patches, so if that's a legitimate option that'd be a thought. I'm going to admit I'm also not very fond of the gameplay font either - it strikes me as too stylised and difficult to read for what's meant to be easily readable and accessible, and that was my biggest stumbling block in getting around to properly playing FE4. This may just be me, though.
  17. For a minute around the release date I thought I'd try avoiding spoilers for it completely. That... really did not happen. At all. I guess it was inevitable given how I was following the prerelease material; had I not done so, maybe things would've been different. Hopefully, by the time the international release comes around, I'll have phased around to the point where Fire Emblem isn't the fictional work with which I find myself thoroughly preoccupying myself, and I may have at least forgotten at least some of the spoilertastic content. But for now? Spoilers. Endless spoilers absolutely everywhere.
  18. Now that I think about it, Roy's design here looks somewhat similar to Krom's outfit, with some extra clothing underneath; this seems particularly apparent in his shoulder plate, a a prominent feature of Krom's outfit which definitely didn't exist in Roy's original portrayal. Perhaps, given this could be taken as them updating his design to match this game's Master Lord, this could mean he is indeed a Master Lord here? I should probably check the Master Lord model from the class trailer.
  19. So the European version of Nintendo Direct just wrapped up. Not a single mention of FE13 in sight. Hm.
  20. That is certainly one hell of a fetish Soiree's got going there.
  21. The French version contains one particular translation oddity: Forblaze is called "Éclair"... which (pastry aside) means "lightning". It's pretty obvious that Forblaze isn't a lightning tome (or a food tome for that matter). I could easily be wrong on this, but I can't find any indication that "Éclair" has an alternate meaning of anything more relevant to or fitting for Forblaze.
  22. In Thracia, isn't Asvel's Mage map sprite significantly different from that of enemy Mages? I distinctly remember this being so because I was a little puzzled as to why it was a thing, and I've been meaning to take a cursory look and see if it's the case with any other characters. Not that it matters all that much for the purpose of this.
