  1. Those 5 and also Rosalina are all set to release tomorrow in the Netherlands as well, at least according to the website of the game shop that I tend to frequent.
  2. In addition to support text and changed endings for A support characters, supports can also affect combat ability. Depending on the affinity of the characters in question, supports will give bonuses to various stats including Attack, Defense, Avoid, Accuracy, Critical, and Critical Evade, with a stronger bonus the higher the support level is. Specific information on the FE8 supports can be found here and here.
  3. Mushroom Kingdom Warriors, so we can see Mario slaying hundreds of Goomas at a time with a giant fireball. I could see an FE one being done, and it would probably fit the theme rather well, but it wouldn't be nearly as silly as a Mario one. I could also seem them making it a multi-series thing, either very broad amounts of characters like SSB or a smaller collection of franchises like Mario Kart.
  4. Yeah, the fact that the character designer for this game is the same as the designer for Awakening (and the models seem to be very similar as well, plus feet) means that we'll probably see a lot of comments like "Oh, X character looks kinda like Y from Awakening!"
  5. Toad and Tingle were the first two that I immediately thought of when I saw this topic title. I guess also (insert most recent Pokémon legendary here) and also (insert most recent Pokémon starter trio here) since they're always heavily used in Pokémon marketing, more so even than most of the Pokémon we DO get (except Pikachu). I guess Greninja does count towards that, though; I wonder if he'll be swapped out for a new started next gen, or if he'll just get added onto the legacy Pokémon pile.
  6. I don't mean to imply that he was awful or anything, I think he just got screwed but I still used him the whole time and he was solid, just not superamazingballs.
  7. I don't really have much to add, I just wanted to thank you for posting this and let you know you have another reader. I always really enjoying reading through or hearing about people's first experiences playing a game that I know well. When a friend of mine first got FE:A a few months ago, I kept pumping him for stories, wanting to know how far he was, who he was pairing up, etc. and so forth. It's just fun to me. I would recommend playing around with Second Seals if you want to, just to get a feel for them. Most people can only change to a limited number of classes (except for Cara), so it's not quite as much of a choice overload as it may seem. I was kind of terrified of them my first playthrough and didn't even dabble in them until my second go, but it's a "fun" mechanic as much as it is a useful one. I liked being able to turn my Tactician into a Pegasus Knight because it's one of my favourite classes.
  8. I find the gamepad to be a lot nicer than I thought it would be. It's kind of large and clunky in my tiny hands, but it plays well, and I like having the mini screen (sometimes I use that exclusively because my eyes are kind of poor so it can make things easier for me to see than looking at the further off TV).
  9. The first time I played FE9 I got a really blessed Oscar and he was amazing. When I went to replay it last year, I was so excited to see him again... and he turned out mediocre that game, but still decent. Your choices are pretty similar to my standard team, except that I usually keep Shinon instead of Astrid as my archer. Astrid has just never worked out for me and Shinon is kind of hot, so win-win.
  10. I'm guessing we'll see a late-Nov/Dec release, personally. That gives them several months to work on and refine the translation/localization while still getting the game out in time for Christmas, which is a huge selling time for video games.
  11. Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. FE8 is preparation for the "FE8" part of FE8CM and FE7CM is preparation for the "CM" part of FE8CM. And I was planning on playing it anyway. It'll mostly be amusing to see how amazingly godawful I end up being.
  12. I've just learned to tolerate 8.1 and now I'm getting dumped with another OS. This is actually one of the times that I miss working at my old job; would be nice to seriously play around with the new OS before deciding to upgrade or not. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it and see.
  13. Got it! Summoners learn how to use staves so they can take care of their own creatures. After all, they don't expect some hoity-toity Bishop to give a shit about their unholy creations. Summoners are really just necromantic mothers who want to look out for their own children, however demonic they may be. I'll have to refresh my memory to see how all those are different from usual, but Mend being 1-2 stands out to me as a nice perk. It gives Mend a place that it normally wouldn't have since Mend is kind of fucking useless otherwise. More useful than I was thinking they'd be for sure. :p I was hoping Sparkles could be an item that can only be used the first round of combat to make a dazzling entrance. L'arachel would get all of them. Well, I think... ... awwwww. Clearly the answer is simply to make a better story. Poor, poor Ephraim. ---- In other news, I totally plan on practicing for this by playing (and attempting to get decent at) FE8 and will give FE7CM a go, too. It kept being updated so I was just going to wait for the final version, but since it looks like it's going to be sitting there for a while, I'll play the current version. I'm actually in the middle of an FE8 playthrough right now, though I scammed a bunch of levels in the tower mostly so I could just use L'arachel to kill everything, so it's kind of lazy.
  14. L'arachel is always useful. :< Though I suppose we don't know what class she'll be yet anyway. Point made. I never really used Summoners because they seemed... lacking. Would still like to come up with a suitable (or at least silly) in-game reason for it, though. Because it sounds fun. The Bishops doing extra healing "damage" against monster units is a pretty hilarious thing that I hadn't thought of. Niche use, but awesome.
  15. I figured as much, hence why I consider my excitement to be irrational. It'll get more rational the closer we get. Perhaps I could spend some of my waiting time plotting a graph. I think that's actually pretty cool. I feel like this system gives mounted mages a bit more of a niche (they never really felt all that different, in my opinion), and letting the bishops, et al. keep staves is satisfying from a characterization perspective. Staff-wielding Lord also sounds boss. ... though I'm still scratching my head trying to come up with an in-universe reason for Summoner/Necromancers to be able to heal.
  16. For me, it'll be screenshots and write-ups, with lots of colourful commentary and silly survey questions. If it were just a matter of getting a video capture program and recording myself, I wouldn't mind giving video a stab, but I know absolutely nothing about video editing and my mic is probably shit, so any videos I make would be as clumsy and god-awful as my playstyle. I'm actually very irrationally excited about this.
  17. Oh, I was just planning on running all of my screenshots through Blingee before posting them up, but I guess that works, too.
  18. It shall be the best LP ever with cookies and sparkles.
  19. I think that, for story-related purposes, it would be interesting to have different characters we could recruit or not depending on the situation, especially if it were done in a more ambiguous way than just being able to choose between one character or another. The OCD gamer in me hates the idea, though.
  20. You know, you left all these messages on my profile and I never saw them because I thought I would get some kind of notification or something if anyone did that and I'm not like some kind of narcisist that loads up her profile and looks at how awesome she is, so I never saw it until now when I went to change my avatar. I've just been stalking you on my own. Silently.

Looking at that monstrous notification options list, I'm not surprised I didn't bother touching it sooner. I also figured out how to get it to stop spamming me with e-mails every time someone posts in the FE8CM thread.

  21. Ohgod why did SF never tell me I have messages here I feel like such a jerk for not replying to them now. T_T

It's ok, atleast you finally got to them

  22. Child Kirie could never conceive of anyone ever honestly liking mushrooms and was dead certain that when she saw her dad eat them it was only to make her uncomfortable. Adult Kirie is a bit more tolerant of other people's tastes in food, and talks in the third person much less often. I didn't actually play a lot of games as a kid because of my parents' aforementioned dislike of gaming, so when I did, it was mostly with friends. The NES I played actually belonged to my uncle who lived in the same house as my grandparents, mom, and me. I played a lot of Mario and Sonic at friends' houses because they were easy to pick up. Later home gaming was done upstairs in my sister's room rather than on the main TV in the living room, which is why I'm sure my parents probably wouldn't recognize any of the characters unless they saw them on TV or through some other source. :p
  23. I could actually see this combining with another topic (the subject of Tacticians returning or not) with the Tactician being redesigned/renamed to have a more Eastern flair, then promoting to Dread Fighter and gaining axes on promotion. Might have the skills rejiggered if it is indeed a standard class, since the DF skills are incredibly strong for a 1st/2nd-tier non-DLC class.
  24. Awesome, thanks. I did a bit of looking and didn't find much initially so I thought it would be easier to ask people who probably know a hell of a lot more than me anyway, but I'll dig around and see what I can find. I did figure that such a transfer, if possible, would likely be permanent (otherwise there's nothing to stop people from constantly transferring games to each other back and forth).
