  1. I honestly didn't care until they announced that they were using Crappy!Emo!FocusGrouped!Rehashed!Pathetic!Slimy!Flavorless!Hack!New!Dante instead of...y'know...the well-established charcter that everyone who's heard of DMC automatically thinks of.

But no, go for the person who's GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT YET. Roy made sense because FE was a well-established series in Japan, but DMC is mostly known for Dante being a freaking badass smooth-talking...jerk, really. And they go for this idiot.

I might buy the stupid game to spend hours beating the crud out of him, but I digress.

The game looks...fine. It's just...so annoyingly...fine. I can't find anything of note in either direction to say about it. It's just...fine.

  2. Welcome back. Sounds like you went through hell had a good time.

The upside of no computer means a lot of D&D was played with people in similar situations.

The summer was almost worth it just for that moment when the Rogue started Mario-hopping on the Kraken heads...

  3. Sooo yeah, no-one heard from me all summer. Well, technology is an evil sod like that.

It doesn't help that Bell Canada are completely incompetent and took about a month to get over here and give us our internet back.

After that, it just sort of devolved into 'oh crap I'm in college now nothing prepared me for this wat the fuuuuu-' followed by a few actual migranes.

I guess deciding to replay the entire Mass Effect trilogy didn't help much either, but whatever...

    So yeah, I'm back.

    Hi.

    I guess.

  4. UPDATE INFORMATION

Game is entering 6-week beta testing with a group of friends. We will have six sessions with new characters each time, and will be ironing out the details of the Combat system. The Skills will probably get switched around a lot too.

    In fact, everything could change.

At the end of each session, I shall post a list of revisions that the session has caused.

Otherwise, so far I've made some progress on statting the enemies that the GM can use (Mainly a few low-level bandits) and also began working on the Second-tier classes.

  5. and i am sorry i will stop bothering with dancers who apparently don't have the right to defend themselves

If your dancer is in a situation where it needs to protect her/hiself, you are a BAD GAMER and you should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

Really enjoying the hack so far. Keep up the good work!

  6. I'd like to apologize for my recent inactivity on this draft. Additionally, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO FINISH IT DUE TO OUTSIDE FORCES CONSPIRING AGAINST ME.

Long story short, my PAL Radiant Dawn and PAL Wii are unable to be accessed as my adapter blew up when my little sister tried to use our old Mega Drive through it.

Thankfully, the Mega Drive survived. The new adapter should be here in about a month or so, but I can't finish this now. Sorry.

  7. I'm back, bitches.

    - Updated Skill section with some required information

    - Included rough copy of Skill Check chapter

    - In this very post there is a brief overview of how combat works.

Things left ToDo in the Player's Guide:

    - Combat chapter

    - Item lists

    ****************

    COMBAT

    - You add your weapon's accuracy score to your combined Skill and 1/2 luck (Luck is rounded up)

    - To get your 'dodge rating', add your Skill, Speed and 1/2 luck together (Again, luck is rounded up)

    - To get your Critical likelyhood, it's 1/2(Skill + Luck) + Weapon's critical bonus (if any)

    - To hit someone, subtract their Dodge Rating from your To Hit rating. Roll under this number on a D%. If you roll under your Crit Chance at the same time, the attack is a Critical Hit

    DAMAGE

    - Damage is (STR/MAG + Weapon Might) - DEF/RES

    - Once a target's hit points run out, you roll on the Critical Hit chart. For the amount of damage done past their hit points in their last hit, add that as a modifier to your Crit roll. (EX: A target goes from 10 hp to 0, when the original hit did 11. You roll a D10 on the Crit Chart for your weapon group, with a +1 to the result)

    - When you get a Critical Hit, just roll on the chart immediately as well as applying damage as normal.

    CRIT CHARTS

Each weapon has its own Crit Chart, which is a description of ways to die/barely avoid death. This feature may be removed if beta testing proves it is too complicated.

    EXAMPLE: FIRE MAGIC

    Result - Effect

1 - The target is blinded by the flames

    .....

5 - The target is now On Fire

    .....

10 - The target is reduced to ash instantly. Opponents within 20 meters are now Terrified of you.

  8. Swadians don't need nice armor because you just plow over the enemy with your knights.

If you go freelance, will you go freelance from the start or join one of the factions to gain some land and then break off?

Freelance all the way until I conquer my own castle. This still means I can take Merc contracts, just not becoming a vassal.

Money upkeep is going to be a bitch, but that's what tournament abuse is for.

IBM going to need to make an 'Eddard Captured' counter...yeah, last nights session DID NOT go well.

Eddard Captured count: 3 times in 2 real world hours. Sigh.

  9. Soyeah.

For those of you unfamiliar with Mount&Blade Warband, it's an Action/RPG/RTS/Kingdom Simulator set in a fictional world of Caldria.

It's just as awesome as it sounds.

Warband is the first Standalone expansion pack for the original Mount&Blade, and is basically Mount&Blade 1.0 with new factions, new heroes, the ability to get married and all that jazz - basically an Enhanced Remake more than anything else.

There's also With Fire and Sword, which is set in 1700's Europe, but that is...irritating.

    Stupid one-hit-kill muskets.

Anyway, the objective of the game is to become King of all Caldria. This takes for fucking EVER. I may stop when I finally control a decent-sized country of my own. You start as one guy with some basic equipment, do a tutorial quest, and then basically get dumped in the world with a message saying basically 'kthanksbai'. Think what happened to you in 'Morrowind', but EVEN MORE open-ended.

Without further ado, enjoy my bungling third playthrough of Warband, this time NOT as a noble, meaning making friends is so...much...harder...

    **

THEY ARE NOT KIDDING. Even if you become a Vassal of a king, as a woman it is INCREDIBLY hard to be rewarded your own territories. The most likely way to is to conquer an enemy castle by yourself, and even then a large number of your fellow lords have to like you.

    **

    So FUCK THAT

    **

    2012-06-19_00003.jpg

    **

No nobles this time. Let's go with the hardest parent! Yay no Melee weapon or shield for starting character!

Wait...crap. No melee weapon or shield for starting character.

    **

    2012-06-19_00004.jpg

    **

Keepin' with the theme. STILL NO STARTING WEAPON! My Agility's going to be pretty high though...

    **

    2012-06-19_00005.jpg

    **

Yay Archery! AND A MELEE WEAPON! Thank the gods!

    **

    **

Damn right. Especially not you, KING RAGNAR.

That'll be funny in, like, 100 in-game days.

    **

    2012-06-19_00010.jpg

    **

Ayup. This is like turning Permadeath on/off in Fire Emblem.

Being able to undo disastrous battles are for pussies who don't run away like scared little girls most of the time.

    **

    2012-06-19_00011.jpg

    **

    Lesson time, kiddies!

    SCORES

STR - Each level gives you some hit points and boosts your damage

AGI - Movement speed and an additional 5 Weapon Proficiency points

INT - An additional Skill Point

CHA - ...access to the best skills in the game.

    SKILLS

Too many to list. Basically, they are linked to one of the three scores, and for every 3 points in the linked ability score they can be increased by 1 point. Charisma and Intelligence have the most useful skills, as they revolve around having more men in your army and NOT having them all die if they get hit by a fly going too fast respecively.

    WEAPON PROFICIENCIES

Higher the proficiency's score, the more accurate and more damage that weapon group is/can do.

    **

Eddard Stark, for we are probably going to end up like him at some point.

By which I mean 'Captured, beaten up and executed', and replace 'executed' with 'escape but cycle repeats every ten in-game days'.

Oh facemaker, the bane of RPG's everywhere.

    Dat Stache.

    **

    **

Swadia - Medieval Europe. Best heavy knights in the game, with the best crossbowmen and decent heavy infantry.

Vaegirs - Medieval Russia. Medium cavalry with some heavy infantry and the best archers in the game.

Khergit Khanate - FUCKING MONGOL BASTARDS. EVERYONE HAS A HORSE AND EITHER A BOW OR LANCE.

Nords - Vikings. Pure infantry with axes and more axes.

Rhodoks - ...I'm not sure. Pure infantry with pikes and crossbows.

Sultanate - Arabs. Good heavy cavalry and second-best archers, but with absolute crap heavy foot.

    **

    Oh good. Bandits.

Just like Fire Emblem. God damn it.

    **

    2012-06-19_00022.jpg

    **

    Well said, sir.

    **

    2012-06-19_00023.jpg

    **

So you won't pay the bandits, but you'll pay a random game poacher who grew up on the streets with his daddy being a thief and is out for no-one but himself and plans to rule the world but has no money to begin to do so?

This game, man. We do the quest anyway because there's a lot of loot to be had doing it.

    Let's do this.

Recruiting costs money, promoting costs money and EXP, and you have to pay a wage for each soldier. But damn, having a bunch of guys is worth it.

    **

    2012-06-19_00027.jpg

    **

Weekly wage screen...as you can tell, first-tier 'Recruits' cost 1gp a week, so I have 16 of them. More than three times the amount required, but the ablative shielding to hide behind while sniping HELP is always appreciated

Quest screen. You can even use it to show you on the map where you need to go, and just click! Keep an eye out for roaming bands of people stronger than you - so right now, anything more than 10 looters or 3 light infantry.

    Earlygame's a BITCH

How melee combat works - left click is attack, right click is block. However, you have to have your mouse pointing to one of four directions around your character to either vertically slash, horizontally slash either way or stab. Blocking is the same, unless you have a shield, which is for pussies who can't parry.

    **

    2012-06-19_00054.jpg

    **

    Throwing knife IN YOUR FACE

Fuck you, man. I lost a guy for you.

    **

    2012-06-19_00058.jpg

    **

    Sweet.

    **

    2012-06-19_00060.jpg

    **

    That's a looooooooooooot of loot.

Parrying and blocking is for pussies who can't dodge or hit something with their damn throwing knifes.

Also, replace stupid shirt and boots for stupider shirt, boots and wool hat.

You just wait until I get Heraldric Mail...

First installment? OVER. Now, quick question...which kingdom should I join? See the poll!

  10. Update June 03:

Sorry about the abscence, but Graduation exams/CEGEP placement tests/Convocation prep, you know the drill.

Yay last year of high school. HELLO WORLD!

    * Mount section rough completed

    * Practice adventure/starter package concept completed

    * Combat 50% done

    * A playtesting group found in my local area.

    * Minor errors with the character sheet and the Mage class found (No, they do NOT have +3 to defense and then a crap RES score, that's the wrong way round). Will fix by next weekend.

    Project is BACK ONLINE

  11. I think that because she's a major character, and therefor has love interests, they wanted to boost the age up. Nino's was left there because while she has love interests, Lyn has a potential ending that explicitly states she had children while appearing to be the same age. So yeah, staturatory rape.

    Maybe.

    Probably.

  12. I've been flipping around what Serenity does, but all of it's in the air right now.

I've been making progress on the Combat system, and oh man, is it a doozy. I've got the basics down, and I've been considering pulling a Fantasy Flight Games and releasing an example mission PDF with the basic rules and some premade characters for people interested in trying it before the final version is released - a demo, basically. Anyone interested?
