  1. First screenshot of progress delicious progress p.s. these are placeholders
  2. of the three hair colors, take them, and try changing the contrast between the three so the combined product stands out more
  3. I quite like Icarus's design. looks sort of like Falcon-Morva
  4. There just doesn't seem to be lot of detail to the hair, try changing the contrast up a bit, or shading the hair some more to give it texture
  5. I don't really have anything else to say, except that the hair seems a bit unshaded. Does it only have two tones?
  6. The chest armor has a weird darker line of shading...other than that, pretty standard mug, I guess. Never been a mugger
  7. Today I hashed out a fairly rough idea for the story. It's kind of nuts, so I can't really be super clear on it. But I can say that in the prologue (which has three parts for reasons, trust me), you meet 9 characters (two of which are kids), and by the end of the prologue, 6 of them are dead forever. The prologue also relates to the rest of the story i promise
  8. Yeti was boss enough to make an entire editor set dedicated to letting anyone with have a brain and some spare time make a fangame. (Though it hasn't been released yet oops) It's efficient, it's simple to learn when you have someone guiding you/a basic tutorial, and you get results fast. There's very little messiness about it, and even when you break the program, it's as simple as running the source code in Visual Studio C# express, and you can see where it breaks. It's actually pretty genius Yeah, it's very intuitive, although there are some bits that could be pulled together a bit more. like text editing hngh Anyway, since this is my adventure through learning to make a FE game, I'll give some info. Today I successfully learned how to make a new chapter and input it into the world map screen without destroying everything.
  9. There are things I want to do that I can't do with hacking: also, FEXNA is really convenient
  10. There's not going to be a whole lot of anything here right now, but I had an idea for a FE Game prologue and I want to eventually get around to it Gonna be using FEXNA because lets be real, I know nothing about hacking So someone should definitely hold me to this because its a cool idea I think
  11. At one point, I spent a lot of time trying to help people improve, but most of them ended up disappearing and never posting again. There wasn't a point for me to keep trying to be polite and type out ton of criticism, and now it's just a habit to be blunt and move on. I also spend a lot of time with people who can take "where's the shading" and know what I mean and fix it. Beginners have a bit more trouble, and I didn't really think about that. I'll be more specific. Take Spyro. His wings look like splotches of paint. The issue is that there's no shading on the wing-bones, which makes the wings look totally two dimensional. The other wyverns have wingbone shading, but the wingskin color is so similar to the wingbone color that it makes the wings look two dimensional even with proper shading. It's another color contrast issue, which has been covered by people here already. I dont really feel like looking too deeply at the rest of them right now
  12. what happened to all the shading and contrast, its just a bunch of flat surfaces
  13. Dragoons are promoted gods with the power to leap a hundred feet in the air and skewer their enemies skulls
  14. Dragoons are promoted gods with the power to leap a hundred feet in the air and skewer their enemies skulls
  15. The blues kind of blend together a lot. It's either a lack of contrast or pillow shading. Not sure which yet. Maybe probably both.
  16. That's because it's a lighter color to begin with, and because less of the sprite is red than blue. This is a tried and true method of color matching that pros use why do i even bother jfc
  17. I do not understand your attempt at being clever because I am dumb, how do glass houses factor into klok being a weaboo Also, on topic, is that the actual world map you're planning to use? I might be able to do something about it if I'm not all that lazy, and if you wanted a more fe-y one: i like it but its also just...I'm finding it weird guuh
  18. A background color to show off a sprite should not be chosen by the sprite's colors, but rather by what makes the sprite stand out and be noticeable.
  19. That bg color is pretty atrocious. In my opinion you're better off with a lighter color, and I'm partial to greens myself.
  20. its kind of a mix depending on how much time and skill you have
