  1. According to a support conversation in three hopes, Balthus had defeated Holst. But I haven't played Claude's route in three hopes, so I don't know very much about Holst. And Holst also got defeated by the Verdant Wind final boss.
  2. What I meant was Thales in more intimidating when he is in the form of Arundel. Which is ironic. Thales is just cartoonishly evil and a joke. Arundel is vague with his threats, more realistically designed, and more mysterious, so he is ironically scarier. I figured out the connection at the beginning of crimson flower, my second route. On my first play through, silver snow, edelgard said that her uncle conducted experiments during a support conversation during white clouds, which corresponds to Thales. Also, on chapter 12, when edelgard is defeated, she gives her uncle the command. Then, Thales appears as the leader in the cutscene. Throughout silver snow, I assumed Thales was her actual uncle. Then, on my second play through, Arundel is revealed to be her uncle early in crimson flower. That is when I was 100% sure of them being the same person, even before the aftermath of chapter 16. I didn't notice the voice actor detail. It doesn't matter whether or not three hopes verified this, because its so obvious. In fact, if three hopes were to explicitly verify this in dramatic fashion, then it would be insulting to our intelligences.
  3. Edelgard can transform as well. We can also assume that Lysithea has the ability to transform. Lysithea is very secretive of her true power. Sothis isn't included in this poll because she exists inside of Byleth. Nemesis also carries Sothis's power. Byleth could only beat Nemesis in a 2 v 1 battle. The Deathknight just takes orders from others. And he is a teenager in a man's body, stuck in his emo phase. In three hopes, we see a support conversation indicating that Balthus is a very very powerful fighter. I won't spoil it. Ironically, I find Arundel to be much more intimidating than Thales. Crimson flower focuses on the fact that Edelgard and Byleth are doing it together, WITHOUT using the power of their crests. Thales states that Edelgard can "burn the gods," with her crests. I interpreted that cutscene where Jeralt died as Thales having the power to anticipate and work around Byleth's divine pulse.
  4. With Kris the story sucks. Without Kris, the story would still stuck. The game barely has any story. Though the gameplay is great!
  5. One of my favorite chapters is chapter 26 of Path of Radiance. Even though it is officially a seize map, it is actually a defend map. You must protect Elincia from the hoards of enemies. Chapter 10 of fates is also one of the greats.
  6. These 11 characters can each be passionately argued to be the most powerful in Fodlan. Who is it? Let's have some fun!
  7. I want an FE4 remake because the game is really not good at all. I quit during the chapter after the time skip. It is sooo slow and boring. It would greatly benefit from a remake. The only fire emblem games I have not beaten are FE 1, FE2 (because I played the superior remakes), and FE 4. FE 4 is the only fire emblem that I did not enjoy. I don't know Japanese, so the story wasn't of any interest to me. It was awkward to read a translation on my laptop, while playing on my switch. And before I played the game, everyone had already spoiled that one plot twist. With the skip feature, higher difficulty settings, and better distribution of enemies, a FE4 remake could possibly be amazing!
  8. Haha yes. It was really fun, as it is actually among my favorite chapters in the series. I especially love the atmosphere, the challenge, the different possible strategies, and (Spoiler tag for comment about how the chapter's mechanics are connected to the story. )
  9. Byleth can not take a stray hit. The war masters can easily one round her. Their attacks have a brave affect, and so they can get through the blessing gambit. Enemy gambits can realistically hit her. You've also got enemies with absurd critical hit rates. This was my second play through of this route, and I didn't recruit from other houses because I wanted to fight them in battle. I did a lot of one-turning throughout this run, including the 4 previous chapters, even without warp. I skipped a lot of the monastery. All of my other units get one rounded. I had an absolutely pathetic team. Defiant avoid, retribution, blessing, and alert stance onto Byleth was the best strategy for this chapter, with my pathetic army. You could probably guess which chapter this was on if you have played this route. I don't want to spoil it for players who haven't done this route. When my Byleth died due to the crest of flames, it was so bad and ridiculous that I bursted in laughter.
  10. I was dodge tanking with falcon knight Byleth. Defiant avoid was currently activated. All the enemies around her had a zero percent hit rate. During one of the battles, she healed herself through the Crest of Flames. Defiant avoid was no longer activated. Another enemy had very small hit rate against her, but now non-zero hit. He killed Byleth. I restarted the chapter because I'm not into Diving Pulse scumming.
  11. When Edelgard called out "Dee," Dimitri emotionally gasped. This leads me to my first interpretation, as he cares about Edelgard, but the Edelgard he knew no longer exists. However, his speech about revenge leads me to my second interpretation. What's your opinion on Dimitri's gasp? I feel like his gasp is a very important piece of this puzzle. By the way, do you have any ideas of why Dimitri regressed into the boar during part 2? When the citizens were being held hostage in part 1, Dimitri refused to fight back against Cornelia to protect the living.
  12. Major spoilers for Azure Gleam and Azure Moon, and possibly Crimson Flower and Scarlet Blaze. I have not played Claud's route in three hopes. What made Azure Gleam's (and Azure Moon) ending so interesting is that it can be interpreted differently by different players. Here are two different of my interpretations. 1. When Edelgard calls out to Dee, she reached out for help because she went through extreme amount of trauma. Reaching out for help is completely out of character for her, so Dimitri sees the Edelgard he knew as dead. So, he ignores her. In azure moon, Byleth nudges him forward when he glances back at her body. In both routes, Dimitri lives for the living and not the dead at the end of the game. In this interpretation, Dee ghosts that haunt him disappear after getting revenge against Thales. 2. The boar is fighting for the dead, as he only cares about revenge. We know this based off of his speech before the final battle. After killing Thales, he got his revenge, and so no longer has interest in Edelgard and the war. We know that the Agarthans are fighting for revenge for events that took place like 1000 years ago. The boar becomes just like them. In a way, the Agarthans win the war, as it is a never ending cycle of vengence. And Dimitri no longer has any hopes and dreams. What is your interpretation?
  13. In radiant dawn, Skrimir and Soren disagree about their battle tactics. They run into an army led by Levail. After forcing Levail to retreat, Skrimir and Soren learn the value in each other's contrasting tactics.
  14. Cleobulus's realistic impersonation of the Sonia archetype leads me to believe that he is genuinely transgender.
  15. So I had just killed Thales, and was all hyped up to redefine the future of Fodlan. Then, during the (presumably final) boss fight vs The Immaculate One, the game froze. I really don't want to restart the chapter a second time. My first restart was when Jeritza froze during his warrior gauge attack against the gate keeper just before round 1 vs Myson. These two instances are the only time the game had ever froze on me. All the characters are just idly standing there, frozen. Please see the attached video. Has this happened to anyone else, and how do you fix it? Edit: I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I'm playing on the physical American cartridge, and my Nintendo Switch is also American. Edit 2: I have not lost access to the game menu. I still have full access to it. Unfortunately, I could not make a bookmark save because I do not have I do not have "control of the active unit." Also, I suspect that the actual final boss may be someone that I won't spoil for y'all, based off of Shez's supports with Hapi. Or that may be Dimitri's final boss if I don't quit this game. This is a disappointing final ending, with the game frozen on a final boss that I have already seen. This is my first play through of Three Hopes. IMG_3164.MOV
  16. I've been wondering why no one does simultaneous low turn count runs with ironman rules. I feel like this would be a very fun and rewarding type of run to do. Low turn count runs typically involve very risky play styles, the most obvious being resetting for a 2% critical on a boss, or warp skips. This run would require you to use quick, but smart and reliable strategies. I'm surprised that this type of run isn't a thing, and it would definitely add some friendly competition between fire emblem players.
  17. Over the years, I've had so many gaffes. Here are my worst. 1. My most recent gaffe was on chapter 13 of Thracia. I placed Pahn (thief fighter) on a tile on the right side of the map, to block the bow knight reinforcements. This is an escape chapter, and I completely forgot about him! I realized my mistake when I was couldn't find Pahn on the deployment menu for chapter 14. Fortunately I always keep 2 of the three available save files on the same chapter, so I could have gone back to chapter 13, but I didn't because I did not want to put in the extra time. 2. On chapter 11 of path of radiance, I was so excited to have a newly promoted Oscar, that I arrogantly sent him to face the Black Knight without checking his stats. I was very young when I made this mistake. 3. On path of radiance maniac mode, end game, I sent my resolve Titania to the left side of the map. I forgot to give her hand axes. She couldn't kill the 2 range enemies. With this game's very slow map animations , it drained so much time, and I would have loved to have that field position on the map to better protect the rest of my army. Without that space, they were put in a position too close to Ashnard and a hoard of his underlings, and they got completely decimated. I cleverly got Rhys, Elincia, and reyson in the top left corner, while many others were sacrificed, to be able to safely heal Ike and Giffica from a distance. Titania stayed at the bottom left corner to distract many enemies. Those three, Titania, Giffica, and Ike were the only survivors. I was barely victorious. On the winning turn, Ike couldn't reach Ashnard for the winning kill due to the hoard. So I moved Rhys, then Reysoned him to move again. Rhys used Rescue on Ike which ironically put Ike more tiles away from Ashanrd, but that area didn't have the hoard blocking his path. This was on my challenge run in which I attained the maximum amount of bonus experience on each chapter, without using it, as a way to keep score. This was all caused by the simple mistake of forgetting to give my resolve-Titania hand axes.
  18. On a late game radiant dawn chapter, I got a new record of 122. I crossed out part of the image to prevent spoilers. There are some more enemies in the crossed out area. I also tried to get more enemies on the chapter that is 2 chapters after this. On that chapter, there were 22 initial enemies + 32 reinforcements. For whatever reason, the reinforcements were part of a different army, and they appeared to be capped at 32 at any given time. I'd love to see someone beat this number!
  19. Thank you this information. Yes, that was the case. I warped Osian to him on turn 1.
  20. On chapter 20, Osian had a 99 hit rate against the boss, and he missed 4 consecutive times. With that hit rate, the chance of this occurring is one in 100 million. On some other resets, he also missed with his hit rate of 99. Is there a mechanic that I'm unaware of that affects hit rate? Is that hit rate of 99 actually incorrect? Is it a glitch?
  21. I just remembered that some late game levels of Radiant Dawn have a lot of reinforcements. I'll test this sometime within the next few days, if I have time.
  22. I just tested this on Siegbert's paralogue, which has infinite reinforcements. Fates has an enemy cap at 50 at any given time. The GBA games also have this enemy cap.
  23. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see the maximum number of enemies on a map. On path of radiance's chapter 26, I found this number of enemies, as seen in the attached images. This maximum number was attained at turn 16, and I stopped at turn 26. I'd love to see whether or not any of you can beat this number in any main line fire emblem game! (Warriors doesn't count.)
  24. The game can be reasonably beaten without the rainbow potion, and so it may ruin the fun H4 experience to use it. Unless you're planning on using low tier units that you personally enjoy. Either way, the rainbow potion also comes with DLC, so make sure your save file has it!
