  1. I did. Maybe not as fast or good as I wanted to. For a moment, the time I find a second seals, and that I manage to get the good prof (she was locked some times in Mage post chapter 11, because lack of staff use). For now, she's doing pretty good, I would say. She's nearly as powerful as my two other magic (Citrinne and Ivy), but she suffers a bit more from her low build (Citrinne also have a low build, but maybe 1 or 2 point more). I think she could have more build with warrior, or mage knight. But I don't know if I want to change her now (chapter 20). Etie is really a beast in warrior. I used to have her as a sniper and she was doing a lot of damages already. Now, as a warrior, she have chain attack to help everyone, access to axe and a good build. Even a silver bow doesn't hinder her too much now! She's really strong! I gave her an axe (maybe Noatun) but clearly I use her only for the bows. She's killing everything with a Silver bow and a Long bow+3. I don't think axe would be better for her (maybe in terms of raw damages, but bows give her range and keep her nice speed to double everything).
  2. Nope. If I'm not mistaken, Brave weapon hit twice on the player turn if the unit initiates the fight. So, only one attack on chain attack.
  3. Oh! Really? I didn't know, and now I have to reconsider my team ahah. I just decided, one or two chapters ago, to de-bench Fogato, to give him Lucina ring and having a really helpful Cupido. BUT, if you tell me that chain attack with dagger apply poison...Maybe I'll rebench Fogado, ahah. Lucina might go to Yunaka that case. I happen to tend to apply poison to a lot of enemies on certain maps, so it could be really useful.
  4. I find it especially useful on a unit who have Ike ring. If you use Aether, your def and res go up, meaning a lot of foe can't damage you. But you're still really vulnerable to chain attacks (I was caught off guard a lot by this). With pair up, it should be ok. For tanky unit, or just high HP ones, I think Resolve is great. Wrath is good too, especially if your unit have good chance of crit (like Berserker). Hold out for frontliners also, maybe even with Unyielding. Speedtaker is just too good on unit who are middly slow. In just a couple of kills, if you set them up a bit, they can double every enemy. If they have high strength, they become unstoppable. Alacrity is good too, but since you have only two slot for skills, you may prefer Speedtaker for slow units, and maybe keep alacrity for really fast ones (or else, Speedtaker + Alacrity. But you can't have any other skill). Perceptive always good. Momentum also, on high movement units.
  5. At first, I was tempted to do like you, waiting for level 20 etc. But as Scaramuccia said, it's better you promote as soon as possible. It's a bit counterthinking for FE veteran, but that's how it works here. Better growth as advanced class (but not so much), stats gain by promoting, and access to a skill at level 5 of that advanced class. Then, when you reach level 20, you can restart at level 1 with a second seal. No levels lost here. For my part, I did some reclassing: Anna As everyone, I saw her magic growth stat, and wanted to try out that. Now she's a sage, with good magic and speed. Some level below Citrinne, my main magic, but still good! Now I wonder if I should reclass her as a Mage Knight. She would loose a bit on magic and resistance (and luck), but will gain on speed and strength (and build and movement). The Mage Knight skill could be nice, but moreover, I could pair her with an Emblem that give magic boost, but also physical weapon (Like Corrin or Eirika). But, she would not be so great in physical, so I'm wondering. Now, I pair her with Corrin, but I can't make much use of the Emblem's weapons. Jade I really really wanted to use her since the beginning, but she wasn't really great in Axe Armor. And I wanted a lance fighter. So I reclass her fast into Lance Fighter (my mistake. I should have change her into general then hallebardier). Since then, she's doing nice. Speed is okay, and defense too. I'm happy with her skill as a hallebardier. And she can carry S lance (but I think I will give them to Timerra). For now, she's paired with Leif, because. Etie At first, I follow the natural path for her. Archer and then sniper. She was doing good as a sniper, and I paired her with Sigurd, to benefit from canto (being safe after shooting arrows) and momentum (she can be a back liner with so much effect). Recently, I swap her into warrior. And that's really cool. I did loose a bit the skill of sniper (but she wasn't doing so much crit) but I gain way more! Now she's a backup, so she can chain attack everywhere. Especially since I give her a longbow 80% of the time. She gain build she really needed. She's doing very great now! That's all the reclassing I made for the moment. But I love to reclass units to find good combination. Of course, not the royals, because their unique class are nice.
  6. That's fun, for sure, and demands a lot of planning to have the skills you want, etc. But I'm not sure it will return that way. But, on an other point, it's a nice way to have skills. Before, we had them essentially by changing class a lot of times, or with weapons as in Echoes. I don't know, this system is pretty flexible to give your units certain skill and it's interesting. I think they should do a similar way to get skills or boost, it's cool. But not with the Emblems, the past lords and everything (Especially when I see what they want to do with the DLC, ahah. Still disappointed by the datamining on that)
  7. It will really depend on you I would say. How you want to play. But, I can give you some advices. While attack (or magic) is an important stat in the game, for the damages given, as the defense (or resistance) for the damages taken, speed is also really important! If your unit has 5 more speed than the enemy, your unit will attack twice during every turn. If that's the enemy, who has 5 more speed than you, your unit will be attacked twice. It can make a huge difference between a hit you can take, or a phase that would kill your unit. I would say, be careful of the level of the enemy your facing, if they start to become faster or what. Then, on the weapons. A higher weight can slow your units. In fact, you have to compare that weight to the build of your unit. If the weight is under the build, no problem. If the build is higher, each point above will slow you down. It's your choice to accept or not to be slowed down by one point, two point, or none. For my part, I give my unit two primary weapon (and a range one, and an effective one eventually). One weapon light, to keep my speed. And a heavy weapon, that will slow them down. Then, before each encounter with an enemy unit, I consider if the enemy is faster than me, if it mean something to loose on speed or not. Sometimes, my unit would loose too much being attacked twice, so I let it having the light weapon to retaliate (sometimes it can even attack twice depending the enemy. And with skills like Alacrity, it's heaven). Other times, my unit is too slow, no matter what. So I give it the heavy weapon, to retaliate as hard as possible. Plus, I don't really remember, but I think the Iron blade give a boost in avoid or dodge. But I may be mistaken. In the end, it really is how you want to play each unit, and how fast/powerful they already are. Can you afford to be hit twice per enemy, or not? Also, in general, it's better to attack twice, than attacking once for more or less the same damages. If you attack twice during your turn, you can crit twice (depending the conditions are met, obviously).
  8. Chain attack is so so worth! It's so worth that I ended up, not consciously planned, having many backup in my team (all my team, except Alear, Yunaka, Framme and my 3 Sages). And even then, I give Lucina ring to someone who's not a Backup to profit a lot from this. Chain attack does all the time 10% of damages. Whatever the weapon, the user or the enemy defense. So, low strength unit can do 10% of the enemy HP with 40 defense. If you settle right, you can do 5 damages to big armored boss, with your backup being placed one by one. At the end, you did the damage of each of your unit + 5 damages * 2-3-4-5 units each turn (each turn, you have one more unit placed, so one more chain attack). Just think of it, doing 25 damages bonus, on one attack; only because you place your unit well (and gave them good weapon). There's even a skill, The Hero one, that let you chain attack twice with the same unit! That's so powerful I lost a battle because of that, the enemy placed two Hero by my side, and each new unit attacking was doing 20 damages bonus (5 damages * 2 times for the skill * two Hero), even if my unit High Defense were negating the other damages. It has a accuracy of 80 %, so sometimes it miss. But it's a great thing I think!
  9. Nope. I tried it to see how it works, but I wasn't satisfied with it, having to redo all by myself. I enjoy planning my battle and carefully equip my unit. It's a habit you take as a Fire Emblem player. Previously, you also had to do with weapon break, as they had limited number of use. But I prefer to equip my unit myself, as I know what role I want them to have in the next map. Like who's going to be tanky, who will have the effective weaponry, which range weapon for who, etc. Weight and build are also super important if you don't to loose too much speed. I'm not sure the optimized feature take care of those details.
  10. Yeah, I got my first brave weapons too, and...they're disappointing. I tried a lot to re-read what I saw, but it seems they're not so good, with that very low Might. Less damage than a silver one, for more Weight. I don't think there's really point in using them, then. If you can double and do the same damage as the silver one...but with speed penalty! But, in the chapter when we get the Brave Axe on someone, I saw a number I could not explain. The Brave would have done more damage than the silver one, and I couldn't find the explanation (and I just remark I didn't take a picture). Silver was doing like 40 damages, less the enemy defense (17), so 13. But the Brave was doing 30 (15 two times) and that's all. I just didn't understand why the defense was not be taken in count here. Whatever
  11. Lapis and Kagetsu are a bit similar, in which they have good speed, but not so much strength. Kagetsu stay better than Lapis when you recruit him, normally. It depends on how much you invested into Lapis. They're both sword users that should play on their speed to double attack. It's your job to figure which role to give Lapis, since she's pretty much like Kagetsu, but less good (in my game, after having hopes for her, I finally bench her on my current chapter and try Goldmary who have a bit less Dex than Kagetsu, but more Def). You could play Kagetsu with a lot more speed, with Lyn, and kill enemy before they can counter. Or with Marth and give him good avoid. That could be something. I tried giving Etie the Sigurd ring a bit, so she could have better movement, and I could place her anywhere to benefits from here rang as an archer. Plus, with Sigurd skill, I could enhance her damages by moving her a lot. And then, you give her a Lance, to attack, while engaged, at close contact. And put her safe for the enemy phase with canto. I won't say anything about Jean, since I don't play him (and don't like him) but it really depends on what you intend to do with him. About Chloé, I think better avoid could be nice, or a bit of crowd control with Corrin, maybe. I don't play her too, so I think possibilities are endless. For Diamant, as I said, he's just a really good unit, so anything would fit. Ike will play on his good defense and you can put him alone, taking all the enemy aggro, with Aether! Give him Lyn and he will double anyone in no time, attacking solo without letting the other counter. Give him Roy and he will be a really powerful frontliner, making huge damages. Give him Leif and he won't be broken anymore, even at low level bond! Actually, I think you could give any rings and still manage to play him good. (Yeah, I'm fond of Diamant, ahah)
  12. It does not only help, it's mandatory actually! If you want to change the class of any unit, that unit needs to have the right prof for the desired class. If you want to make Anna into a Mage, you have to give her Tome Prof (I will go further, and you also need to give her Staff Prof if you want to make her a Sage after that. If it's just Mage Knight, you're alright with just Tome, as she already have Axe). As for the Tome Prof, only two Emblems can give it, if I remember correctly. But yeah, for every unit, to change class (either the same tier, or the higher tier) you have to get the right proficiencies. And only Emblems can give them to a unit who don't have them naturally. Playing with units you like is a good starting point. You could try to see their strength and weakness, to work on these. Either to enhance their strength, or balance their weakness. Your choice. Then, Emblems are really different from one to another. You'll learn about them by playing, don't worry to much. And you'll also swap rings for quite a time if you want to acquire certain skills, or work some strategies. But, you should think in term of Emblems, and what they do. There's a lot to say here. Like Lucina can turn your unit into a Backup one. Micaiah give you a Staff's user bonus. Lyn enhance your speed at unbelievable levels. Ike makes your unit really sturdy. Leif prevent anyone from taking advantage on you, Sigurd gives awesome movements (and damages if you can play with this), etc. But, for example, Diamant is doing wonder with almost everything. I think the choice here will be which Emblem you can't give to anyone else? Or which Emblem is left after you give other what suit them the most. I'm chapter 18, and tried Diamant with Ike (Marvelous), Lyn (Marvelous) and Leif (Wonderful).
  13. Woah, this gives me so much discomfort...It's a 17 years old (Actually more like a thousand years old) telling a 10 years old child that he's giving him strength when thinking of him and so? That's too weird for me. When you translate partner, what does it mean really? Love interest or partner to fight and things like that, like a counselor? By the way, it gives me strong pedo vibes, I don't like it. I know, when you're adult (30 or more) seven years is a gap you can eventually manage (I did it in being older or younger by that many years). But at 17 years old, that's something that not going to happen. Never. If you have been 17, and I hope you had, there's no way this can happen. (The same goes for Anna. She's just a child!)
  14. I consider that there is some days passing between each chapter, only for the party to travel between various point. I don't know the exact distance between two kingdom, or the size of Elyos, so it's just an assumption. There is no large scale transportation with flying or so, so everything must be made by foot (or maybe by horses? I won't enter those details), so they must take some days to travel from point to point. And have some rest too, they can't just march all the time, too tiresome. So I think there's some days/weeks between each chapter. I don't think you can reach a capital from another in just a week. I'm not sure, but I think the game tell us that's traveling is kind of long too, but don't remember when. Then: Firene - Alright, it's the first place we go. They're not aware of the Fell Dragon or even the Divine one when we arrive there. So the first invasion is pretty logic. But Solm - Brodia - We learn at the beginning that it's the nation of warrior, a military one always at war against Elusia. So, even before the Fell Dragon awake or so. They're used to fight Elusian forces. We even have a chapter on the front, with a nice cinematic of Brodian forces fighting Elusian ones. I'm not sure I remembered everything correctly, but that's my guesses for now.
  15. Yeah, the story lacks a "bit" of writing. Everyone can show up in a castle and take the king/queen hostage as they wish. Really strange, considering the world is at "war" since rumors of the return of the Fell Dragon seems to reach all kingdoms. In Brodia, they tried to make you think it's a warrior kingdom, with an army and everything. You go fight Elusia at the border, with all the army. But two Elusian generals, winged, could show up in various place of the said kingdom with enough forces (infantry soldier, so not flying) to kill the princes and the Divine Dragon. So....military kingdom.... not so great. For Firene, I get it as they're all "peace" everywhere. Their only "weak" border is by sea (because on the other sides, there's allies) but they don't guard it. Even after they were attacked by the enemy, in their own castle at the beginning of the game. For Solm, they told sometimes soldiers are fierce, and will guard the Queen and everything. But then, anybody can enter the castle and threaten her. That must mean their defenses are really bad. Maybe the Divine Dragon should teach them to defend their kingdom and raises fighting forces for the war, instead of fighting the enemy solo with his army of whatevers.
  16. I've played old FE and at first I was a bit lost with this new triangle. Having no advantage in damages or evasion is strange, but we didn't have a triangle in Three House. Sooo This new triangle is really interesting. It forces you to consider which unit to pu in front of enemies for the enemy phase. Since it's not a great penalty to have a disadvantage, it is bothersome to not counter-attack. But this triangle is perfect with the fragile/weak unit. You break the foe and then your weaks can come closer and attack without fearing a counter. Good for leveling. My "problem" is with the Armor. They're great with unbreakable, but then, having the advantage of weapon doesn't mean anything with them. You have to either brute force them, use an effective weapon or magic. Doesn't matter for it being with a sword, lance or axe. (But it's not really a problem in fact, you just have to be careful for the enemy phase).
  17. She already got access to Axe. I think that was during the time I paired her with Leif. I get what you said about the Brave Bow, and actually that was one of my thought also. But, seeing how heavy it is, and so little build she have, she would probably just do 1 double attack. With more build, as with the Warrior class, her speed is no longer at penalty (and her speed is a bit better too) and she can make follow up attack with bows. But yeah, I think I'll think of it a bit when I'll get the Bow. For now, I changed her to Warrior, and she made miracles during the chapter 17, assisting everyone with a Long Bow, doubling with other bows...
  18. Same here. It's a bit frustrating looking at those new units, already promoted and everything, outclassing our old units we took care of during long chapters. I really want to use Lapis, but seeing Kagetsu, and the Goldmary coming out of nowhere, and being so much better than her infuriate me a bit. Same for Boucheron I was "forced" to bench in favor of Panette. Even Céline was benched, because she was not good enough in magic or strength, and other magic units came with access to staff (and stronger)
  19. I had some questions regarding my unit's class, as I'm never sure I make the good choice, ahah! Etie I made her take the classic route, Archer and then Sniper. I don't complain about her. But I'm wondering if I should reclass her to Warrior (since she get access to Axe by I don't remember which Emblem). By seeing the selection screen, she would have nice gains (4 in Strength) but would loose just on Dex (4 points). I think she has a pretty nice Dex for now, comparing her to other unit. (Dex only serve for Hit and Critical chance?). But going that road, would also make me loose on a S rank Bow unit (and the Covert bonus. But since she's not mean to be in rang of enemies...). But she will gain access to Axe, a lot of Strength, the Backup bonus (and with her range it could be really cool) and a bit of Build (that she lack a bit of, especially for heavy bows) My questions: Is the S Bow really that good?
  20. Yeah, the same! Ahah! The new leveled units spend so little time in their base class, usually last only the chapter they join. I'm kind of sad, because I'm a bit nostalgic of the old Fire Emblem, when you have to carefully level up to 20 before thinking about a master seal, ahah. But, after all, Ivy join at level 17. She wouldn't have spend a lot of time in her class, ahah.
  21. Ah, that's funny how everyone is having different games. I think it's really based on our RNG and also our own tastes. ( @Saint Rubenio I'd love to see that Mageron, ahah!) For my part, playing on hard, Chapter 17, with 0 grinding (I hate grinding in games. I tried to do a skirmish, but I was so bored at the start that I cancelled it. I can't pass this, unfortunately). Best Unit -Diamant: Obviously. I knew before playing that I would like him, but he's just too good. Paired with Ike or Lyn, he's just too powerful. He can nearly kill any unit solo, tank some attacks. Well Performing Units -Panette: When she arrives in my team, she kind of force me to bench Boucheron (who I liked a lot) because she was so much better than him. And yeah, she's a beast, solo killing a lot of enemies. I don't know what to do about her natural talent, which is Dagger and not Axe, surprisingly (better suited to be a wolf knight?) -Yunaka: She's incredible. Very good avoid, being a covert is useful in avoid tile and her personal skill is really appreciated in this context. Plus she wield dagger, which are super useful to poison foes. -Framme: Being a healer is super useful. Plus, she has enough speed to double some enemies, and I like to send her fighting, from time to time, just to get the kill. I should use her more to break foes (magic and dagger especially), by the way. -Etie: In my game, sh'es really strong, and not so slow. Her bows are really useful from her range. There's a lot of flier, so she's always here to down them. And she really help lessening enemies HP (or kill sometimes). Most Disappointing -Alear: I think I can say Alear disappointed me. He's not really bad, but as the main protagonist, Divine Dragon and everything, I must say he's a bit weak. Not much strength, nor speed. Don't avoid lot of enemies. He's not as smooth to play as Diamant. But he's still a good unit. Especially from his Dragon class, and all the bonuses that gave! Worst -Jean: I'm not sure I have a worst unit, since I don't use many of them and really keep replacing units I like the less by new units. But maybe Jean, because I don't like his design. Only that. Never used him, so, it's not stat wise.
  22. Same here. I did a "lot" of reading before accepting this fate. But yeah, since the growth are pretty close, the fact that you can second seal infinitely and everything, it's better to master seal as soon as possible. I made this mistake by changing Jade when I got her, at level 12. Then, she had to climb all the ladder again to gain access to a promoted class. If I did master seal her at that time, I would just have to use a second seal and she would be advanced class already ahah. I promoted my whole team in 2-3 chapter, when I have made the decision. They were around level 11-13. If they reach the level 20 cap, second seal and voilà! I'm not mad at the arena bonding, because I don't want to think too much about it in combat (things I had done in the past, spending many turns with units just waiting side by side, ahah). But I think the first rank, C support, is pretty easy to get. The other might be more difficult. Even just a meal between three units is enough to have C support with anyone. But I think I have to share many meal for B rank.
  23. I'm not really sure what you're talking about (because I don't play in English), but, by the look of it, I think it should be Might. The Might of a weapon or a book. It indicates how powerful that weapon is. It's a common stat in the Fire Emblem. Like we said in the other topic, you should add this Might to the Strength of your unit, and it will determine its attack value. In this Fire Emblem, I find the UI not really clear or intuitive, as it's a bit difficult for me to find what I'm looking for. But, to go back to the stats of a weapon, you should have: -Might : We saw what it is. -Weight : The weight of the weapon. You should check this stat with the build of your unit. If the Weight is higher than your build, then the speed of your unit will decrease. -Hit : The accuracy of the Weapon. I don't really remember how it's calculated unfortunately. It has to do with you unit's Dex, and usually, in Fire Emblems, with the Weapon Rank of your unit. But I'm really not sure because I can explain my stats by this formula only. -Avoid : The Avoid granted by the weapon. In most case it's 0, but some weapon may grant an advantage in Avoid, and some a malus. -Crit : The Cirtical percentage. Most of weapon is 0, but the Killing weapon are famous to have a high value here. Then you have the Range of the weapon, and other things like Effectiveness or Weapon Rank. I guess those are pretty obvious. I hope I did not answer badly, as I don't remember all the usual calculations. It may depend on the game also, and I don't figure everything yet for this one.
  24. I feel you. This map was hard (and I'm just playing on hard). A problem is I usually just go without thinking too much, and then I'm in a bad situation, ahah. This one too, ahah! So difficult, lot of time crystal used. This one was the hardest I guess.
  25. Armchair General did answer well It means that you have to add your strength to the weapon might (kind of a hidden value) to calculate your attack (physical in this case). The more your unit have strength, the more its attack rises. Then, you have to subtract your attack by the enemy defense, and then you have your damage. If it's a critical, you multiply your damage by 3. If it's effective, I'm not very sure about the calculations, because i did not really check here. It might enhance either the might of your weapon, your general attack, or the damages. Here goes: Strength/Magic + Weapon's might = Physical/magical attack Physical/Magical Attack - Ennemy Defense/Resistance = Damages Yes, exactly. Magic are just spellbooks, and like, four weapons that are actually magical, but the game tell you if you read the description (I think it's the Levin Sword, Hurricane Axe, Flame Lance and Radiant Bow). Nearly all the rest is physical. I may have the same. The game gave me a hint, one time, that I didn't note. I vaguely remembered it saying Body Arts took Strength and Magic into account. From my viewpoint, by seeing the Attack value, I think it could be (Strength + Magic) / 2. Then I guess it's considered a Physical attack and you have to check the enemy defense.
