I'm curious... When you say "so that he can get Trickster", does this mean that pairings get access to each other's classes just like children normally would? If so, that adds a very interesting dynamic to character development. I'd definitely have to take another look at my gen 1 pairings if this were indeed the case!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if any one has specific plans laid out for his or her favorite children characters! Feel free to post plans for parent(Gen 1) characters as well if you don't plan on going too crazy with using the children. -What class do you plan on ultimately making your favorite character(s)? -Who will their parents be? Why? Stat caps? Hair color? Both? -Skill set! What is your ideal skill set for them, including skills potentially inherited from parents? -Who will you make them support/double with? -Etc. (for anything I might have missed)! Now for my working idea I've been toying with for the past few days! Brady(MU x Mariabel) Inherited stat caps: Str: -6 Mag: +2 Skl: +2 Spd: +4 Luck: +5 Def: -4 Res: +2 Ideal skillset: -Secluded Lady/Lightning Speed/Dual Support+(Haven't decided which to take from Mariabel yet) -Magic Square -Dual Guard+ -Weapon Saver -Rainbow Cry His skillset is definitely subject to change. Mark[F](MU x Mariabel) Inherited stat caps: Str: -6 Mag: +2 Skl: +2 Spd: +4 Luck: +5 Def: -4 Res: +2 Ideal skillset: -Secluded Lady -Magic Square -Dual Support+/Dual Guard+ (Latter inherited from MU) -Weapon Saver -Rainbow Cry The idea of these two siblings is to be supportive(especially with MU, who I will be making the powerhouse of the trio), but viable enough to hold their own. I haven't decided their classes quite yet, but it's looking like Brady will be Sorceror or Battle Cleric, and Mark [F] will most likely be Dark Pegasus, Valkyrie, or Bride. MU and Brady will get +20 Avoid/Crit Avoid as long as the trio stays within 3 spaces. Magic Square x2 means one of them will always have +20 Crit and +20 more Crit Avoid. With 50 Luck, Brady and Mark[F] will never have to worry about weapons breaking mid-battle. I plan on always having them move together in an "L" shape to keep these bonuses active. MU's skills aren't factored into this, which could make this one mean trio once I figure him out. As I mentioned before, I tend to be a much more of a support/utility enthusiast than a damage nut. What about everyone else? :)

I suppose a Barbarian with a witch hat can have its own interesting draws. Thanks for checking into that, guys!

Yep! MU by default passes down every class save for the special ones like Dancer, Villager, etc. Edit: Just thought of another question. My Units that are recruited through StreetPass... They cannot be used for support/breeding, correct? Whoever mentioned that this sounds a lot like pokemon was right. I feel so awful. xD

Okay... So I was looking at some of the character portraits and got to thinking: Do characters like Richt and Loran always wear that witch/warlock-esque hat regardless of the class they're in? Judging by the fact that Donny always has a pot on his head regardless of class... If this is true, it makes me much less interested in using Loran(specifically) than I was before.

Magic Square actually looks delicious. If I recall correctly from a question I asked Othin... It should be just as useful in a doubled setting (Since it's 0-1 effectiveness range) as a regular adjacent activation. I can't argue with Ninian's outfit or even her concept as a character. Loved her outfit too. I thought her and Eliwood made a great pairing. I just have a thing for desert-themed characters and junk, which Tethys exudes to me(though she probably isn't from one, if I recall). :3 Totally steering topic back on track nao. Thanks, Othin! I know I've been asking a lot of questions on this thread. It's been a lot of help with a lot of theory-crafting and such. I can't wait to play around with the game, assuming we get it. If not, a European 3DS is in my future.

In response to the actual thread topic: I think Eirika looks gorgeous in her artwork, and I wouldn't mind it even it was the artwork displayed despite her reclassing. She's gentle, kind, naive, and even innocent. I feel the class is well suited to her, if only in light of the "purity" aspect of it. I can understand the stink behind why the people who don't like it, but I think it's thinking way too deep on it considering the different cultures. That said, aside from a few rough spots, I enjoyed reading the discussion from both sides and think it was handled fairly well for internet discussion. Kudos. On a somewhat unrelated note: The day they let us have dancers that can use staves and are potentially male options is the day I will be a truly happy FE camper.(And don't tell me Xane couldn't have been a Dancer in the Shadow Dragon. > I personally found the mimic thing a tad lolsy.) Back on topic: I agree that I'll be a bit surprised if Eirika can't use swords at all with the class, though I'm sure they wouldn't go that far. It's not like fighting with swords in an elaborate dress hasn't been done before. See: Estelle from Tales of Vesperia. She pulls it off more than well enough.

Just thought of another question. Given that children character's growths are averaged from their own and their two parents... My unit's best/worst combo doesn't really contribute or detract as much from the growth rates as it does the stat caps, correct? I would assume, by extension, that the best/worst stats are chosen more for caps than growths? Even with a +10% boost to MU's growth in a stat, that's probably a 1-3% increase(or decrease for worst stats) at best for offspring, right? I'm curious because I'm still not even sure what stat combo to go with on MU.

Actually. Another question. Do skills like "Secluded Lady" apply the effect for doubled units? For example, Mark(F)((And Brady, by extension)) inherits Secluded Lady from Mariabel. If I doubled her with Brady, say, would he get the bonus from it? Basically, is the effect a 1-3 tile effect? Or a 0-3 tile effect?

The only reason I've held off on buying that purple 3DS I've seen nextdoor to where I work is because I don't want to buy it and find out the game isn't coming here. :/ NoA. Make it happen. ... So I can buy my purple 3DS. ... And have a fabulous Brady/MU/Mark trio. Okay, I'm done.

A silly question for the folks familiar with parenting. Since Mark's appearance is influenced by the "other parent" in any MY pairing... Does that mean a MU paired with Basilio/Flavia results in a dark-skinned/dark-haired Mark? ... I'm genuinely curious.
