  1. Star Wars is just a thinly veiled Star Trek ripoff.
  2. It's really not as bad as you would think considering its reputation and the number of copies destroyed. Atari just made way too many copies of the thing. Even with all of the buried copies, it's still among the most common games for Atari, haha. Also, considering the amount of shovelware available for the Atari 2600, E.T.'s badness isn't even particularly special. : P
  3. I gave the hack a run for the first couple chapters, and it kind of missed the mark for me. The concept of a FE6 rebalance has been done to death, and while this is far from the worst attempt I've seen at it, this hack just does not do a whole lot aside from changing weapon stats (which basically all FE6 hacks do anyway.) Your idea of rebalancing the units by this metric you made is interesting, but by attempting to quantify the usefulness of all of the units, you passed over what makes a unit useful to begin with. Growths are nice and all, and over the long run can make certain units powerhouses, but growth percentages and 20/20 stat totals are only a part of what makes a unit good. You also need to account for stat balance (Str and Spd are way better than Luck and Res), base stats (makes units immediately more useful and capable of gaining levels), class balance (cavaliers get all of the cool stuff, armor knights are front line units that are too slow to even make it to the front line) and even utility such as flight and staff use. Anyway, the idea and intent for this hack are okay, but there is just not much demand for this type of hack. After all, changing some numbers in a nightmare module is not all that difficult to do. An updated version of your balance model might be interesting to see, though.
  4. It seems disingenuous to me to compare a leader of a country that does bad things to a group that is willing to do just about anything to gain power and push their extremist agenda. Drone strikes and war are obviously detestable, which is why there is room for grey area here, but to compare that to the indiscriminate killing of civilians to cause fear and instability is baffling to me. While it's horrible that civilian deaths and acts of war go hand and hand, deaths of innocent civilians are not an intentional consequence of the US involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq.
  5. It costs that much because that's how much the game is worth. Even if it's only worth $30-40 to you, it's going to be pretty difficult finding it at that price point because that's $10-20 below market price. But hey, at least it's not Earthbound, right?
  6. I don't know what I was expecting but I'm okay with this.
  7. It's been almost been 10 years since Gamespot published its 1/10 review of Big Rigs: OtRR, unleashing its greatness upon the masses. I'm kind of surprised RIGISM is still around after all of these years but I guess once YOU'RE WINNER, always YOU'RE WINNER.
  8. FWIW, if you're shooting for the coveted SSS rank, you'll need to get the regular version of the game. It was supposedly added to the game after the AAA rank turned out to be too easily attained. (Of course, you could always just count turns, hahahah.)
  9. Not bad, but the true pros get ragequits on turn 1. Woah I think he just broke hackmons!
  10. yeah this is just such an unfair representation of japan that youtube poster is probably the only person in all of japan with an irrational hate of sumia!!!!!!!
  11. hey man i thought this was a no punctuation zone you could've fooled me tho
  12. Oh hey I'm kind of good this. I have too much of a love/hate relationship with it to ever play it on any regular basis, though. ;(
  13. This is one of the easiest games in the series to just pick up and play. The relative lack of items compared to fe1 really speeds up the gameplay, and for the most part you can just grind if you have any problems with difficulty. I don't think it's as deep or pretty as fe4 or fe5, but Gaiden certainly beats them in accessibility. The characters all have pretty low growths for the most part, but I wouldn't say the cast is that terrible as a whole. Really, they are just more reliant on promotion stat gains here than in other games of the series.
  14. I don't think you'll encounter any hardware problems while playing the games. Your only trouble will be fitting them into the system. Make sure you have a 60-72 pin converter so you can play Famicom games on an NES and your SNES is properly modified so there are no plastic tabs preventing the cartridges from fitting. (You might or might not already know this, but it's definitely something you would want to be aware of before making a purchase.)
  15. You have to admit, that 1530 rating is pretty swaggerific. How many of those do you think were ragequits? HATE THE GAME, NOT THE PLAYER.
  16. Eh, when the average enemy for the vast majority of the game is sort of beefy, uses lances (often javelins), and has mediocre speed, Hector naturally has a lot of things going for him over Lyn. Since actual enemies like heroes and valkyries (units she can finally take advantage of her speed and weapon type against) do not show up until very late in the game, I would certainly feel better having Hector on the field over Lyn for a significant portion of the game. On the durability route, I'm kind of surprised Lyn's avoid is getting a lot of hype, haha. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, but it doesn't quite cut it against lances for quite a while. You're probably facing at least 45% hit rate or so against a lot of these lance dudes and Lyn's very low HP and def leave very little breathing room for unlucky RNs. Terrain helps her a whole lot, but with the option of a 1-2 range weapon, it's more situational than you would want it to be. Hector's defense allows him to basically go anywhere not involving a swarm of magic users, which is a sizable advantage over Lyn if you ask me.
  17. I'm laughing at how you took out the easily contributes part of ZM's post. It's difficult to say he easily contributes in many parts of HM even jokingly. :(
  18. Excluding mounts, Hector might be the best unpromoted unit in the game lol. He has a great stat spread, starts with the best weapon type, and has an insanely powerful Prf weapon. Sure he's not game-breaking like Marcus is, but what's there not to love? His crappy post promotion move is the only thing holding him back a whole lot. Raven is alright, but Hector just makes the earlier stages of the game so much easier. Hmm, you might be underrating the other two. ; )
  19. Let's see if I can keep it down to one per game... FE1 Minerva: After a speedwing, she's pretty much set. Amazing durability, movement, and actually pretty good offense. Bows destroy her, though. FE2 Matilda: Midgame paladin with pretty impressive stats all across the board. Her only real weakness is being slightly frail when she first joins you, but her growths tend to quickly fill in that gap. FE3 Wolf: His base stats are hilariously bad for a prepromote and he doesn't even have his Shadow Dragon growths to make up for that. Still, he's the best bow user you have for at least a while, and his weapon level growth means he can use the Partia without any issues. He's definitely an interesting character to use if not the greatest. FE4 Ced: Can be both a great magic user and staff user. He's a good infantry unit in a game made for horses! FE5 Dagdar: Great combatant and can capture enemy units like it's Pokemon. +1 Base movement is fantastic, too. FE6 Percival: Lategame paladin with high stats and basically no weaknesses. Hard mode bonuses just make him absurd. It's pretty hard to find a reason NOT to use him. FE7 Pent: He's pretty much Percival as a Sage. There's not really much else to say, but it's probably a good thing he didn't get hard mode bonuses too. FE8 Duessel: Badass character with a prepromoted class that was sort of unique for his time. Having a reliable pre promote that doesn't instantly break the game is nice, too. FE9 Geoffrey: He's definitely one of the weaker paladins, but his portrait and personality are pretty cool. FE10 Gatrie: I know Generals are not the greatest class, but it's hard to resist one with a 60% speed growth. He won't save many turns, but he did make the game easier back in the day. FE11 Wendel: DA POPE. One of the best wyvern knights in the entire series. I think he also has something to do with magic, too! FE12 Sirius: Interesting combination of a pre promote and growth unit that can succeed as a number of different classes (Sure we had Wolf and Sedgar last game, but that was just silly!) His mask also looks way less silly than it did in the old SNES days. FE13 Frederick: A competent Jeigan unit that doesn't break the entire game in half, whoa. (That's avatar's job...)
  20. Keen observation, but we all know you can't combine one thing with itself! I'm not sure, but you sure seem to care a lot about saying that you don't care! That's pretty much the same as caring, right? Yeah...this is one of those things that sounded a lot funnier in my head than when I posted it. Ah well, it's not much of a joke if you have to explain it. :P
  21. This idea is so old that IT'S BEEN ALREADY DRAFTED. It's pretty hilarious and fun though, so I would still recommend doing it. The topic, btw: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=41507
  22. I have one thing to say about this: Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiida.
  23. It's just one hilariously un-ironic gamefaqs topic away from happening.
  24. This is what I thought should have been posted to fftf lol. The photoshopped Moulder with Thany's face is pretty great and convincing though.
