  1. You're not the only one, then. I am frequently resetting due to poor stats, multiple levels of 0-1 stats a level. Every stage has me using pair up to hide a unit I don't want to get a poor level. I'm not so spoiled I need a perfect level every time, but my growths have been less than ideal, let's say.
  2. Another one for the boards.... on raising supports, you think the numbers are similar to awakening? Fighting while paired up gets more support than standing next to each other 20 rounds?
  3. I've used the '90+' method before, but it only works for one level for one character, and typically, you get more than that a chapter. It helps to baby one unit, but for example, in my current stage Rinkah gained a decent level of 4 stats up, and then Kaze goes and gets one stat up on his level. not wanting to start the stage over for Rinkah again, I reload to an in battle save and keep Kaze from leveling the entire mission. And then Azura gets a whole two stats up, so I go back to the last in battle save and I'm benching her. I haven't checked the growth/caps for everyone, but levels seem less forgiving this game. Or maybe my last few FE runs have spoiled me lol.
  4. Topic. Despite the warnings on Rinkah, I love her design and want to make her a main part of my Birthright run. Though as warned, she's not exactly getting great levels. Levels seem set upon entering a level, which kills the best use of the in battle save feature. We don't have infinite levels like awakening, and I can't even fall back on cheat codes. Outrageous, right? (/sarcasm). Anywho, I just mean that the old 'tricks' don't seem to apply here. And while I can reset for hours, I was wondering if anyone had found tricks that do work for this gen.
  5. Out of curiosity, does the special edition have a special opening? I have seen both birthright and Conquest openings on youtube, but curious to what the special edition version looks like.
  6. Hey there! For those ahead of me (I'm sure there are lots...sigh) how do you raise your Lilith? It seems she's on the defensive side only, and is magical based (I'm Hoshido at the the moment). Will she ever be useful in combat? My gut says it doesn't matter much as she's going to be super frail no matter. but can't hurt to check, right?
  7. Hey there! I don't know if this is answered in the 100 pages of this topic, so I apologize if this has been answered already. From what I'm seeing online, if you have a male avatar you risk losing one of the kids due to there not being enough spouses to go around. I'm trying to make sense of this going through the 'characters' section of the site, the links on the first page of this post....and the numbers don't seem to be a problem? I don't know if this is just rumor or my math is off or I'm missing something else entirely. Could someone clarify/explain this to me, as I'd like my head to stop hurting lol. Thanks!
  8. My two cents: Before starting the game and just knowing trailer teaser stuff, I went in fully expecting to support Nohr, the 'bond' over 'blood.' Having picked it up now, the game is so clearly pushing for you to go Hoshido, showing how horrible and evil the Nohrian scum really are, opening your eyes, etc, etc. Plus it's pretty obvious that even pre-split that Garon doesn't care much for anyone the way he talks to the Nohr siblings and the main character, sending you off on suicidal missions for minor slights, like not being evil. Honestly, it's a little disappointing to me just how clear they making the sides seem good/bad, and would have preferred both sides being closer to neutral rather than such extremes. As it is, I do find it hard to side with Nohr as Garon is made to be so unsympathetic. Even if you love your siblings, going back when the king wants you dead is a really poor decision, and even Garon mocks you for it. I'd like to support Nohr, but the game makes it quite hard to do so.
  9. My friend code and castle code are in my signature. Feel free to add me, drop by for a visit, whatever. When I get the chance, I plan to look through this thread and visit everyone here. It would be nice if there was a way to leave a specific message to say 'Saw you on site!" and such.
  10. Topic. I've been wondering about this, and I can't seem to make any sense of it. Like the hearts seem random to me. I've had a few theories I've tested, but I've debunked everything I can think of already. I'm not having much with google either. Can anyone offer some insight into this?
  11. So far, it's been consistently the same. I've tried a few different characters, facing different enemies, changed actions around, etc, and yet the levels are happening exactly in the same order. One of the levels is for my Corrin, and he keeps getting the same level which includes luck, his flaw/bane this game. I tried restarting the chapter, and Corrin still keeps getting the same level. I keep thinking the RNG is just messing with me, but this is getting bizarre.
  12. Hi there~! So, topic. I'm doing my first (of many) run through Fates on normal mode, with the handy dandy in battle save option. I thought to use in battle saves to get better stats upon level up, but it hasn't worked out for me yet. Doing the same action (kill bad guy!) gets the same results, which I expected. What I didn't expect was even if I change up my actions (for example, switch to another unit, score a kill, go back to original) I'm still getting the same level. I've only been at it for ten minutes so it's possible the RNG is being, well, random. Still, it's odd and wanted to know if anyone could verify one way of the other.
  13. Hi there! So! An idea i'm toying with is skill optimization (not sure WHAT the best skills are yet, mind you) and how you can apparently buy skills from other players/cards (haven't used this yet, but I think I get how it works). But the other team characters have to have the varied skills, right? Take Corrin/Kamui. If we all pick 'optimized' classes (let's say Samurai for now, I see that suggested a lot on here) then there won't be people with less optimized classes who could sell the less optimized skills. I'm wondering if it would be practical to pick something like Wyvern Rider (going at random here) and then trying to buy Samurai skills from someone online. It would likely be easier to find those skills online, and thus making it easier to acquire all the skills for your team, and then pass them out to others faster too... I think. Does that make any sense?
  14. I'm so excited for this. I love this series so much and have played nearly every game in the series so far (New Mystery of the Emblem ruining my streak!) yet this will be the first of the series I've been able to have shiny and new on launch day. I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a game to launch.
  15. Hm.... so I want my 'main' to be a female Avatar on the Revelation path, then if I do my first runs with a male avatar on Conquest and birthright, that should give me nearly all the support options with only three runs of the game. And by the time I get to the third run, I should know enough about the game to figure out which ones I'm missing... I think that should work.
  16. Topic. Just wondering if it will be like awakening where you need to beat the game to support logs, beat it on Lunatic to Lunatic+, and so on. I'm wondering if I'll need to do a male and female avatar for each of the three Paths (six games, yikes) to unlock all possible support conversations. That could take a while...
  17. Topic. For when you are are incredibly over leveled, have maxed stats with Limit Breaker on and the enemy hasn't a chance... what do you use to maximize the humiliation? I'm thinking Limit Breaker, Armsthrift, and Ignis would be the holy trio, with Galeforce for the ladies. What do you suggest to further decimate the unworthy? :)
  18. Topic. I missed out on the pre-sale stuff when it came out, and I've not found a way to pre-order the special edition since then. I'm guessing I'm out of luck there. Buying two physical copies seems wasteful. If I buy just one copy, I can get the other two paths from DLC as I understand it... yet I'm not sure how much space that will require, which worries me. I'm also paranoid that if I go that route there will some difference from conquest/birthright even after buying the DLC, some minor change to make them different. It's driving me nuts. Could some kind soul take pity on my OCD and educate my sorry self on the options available?
  19. Oh my goodness, birthday well wishes for me? Thank you, I'm quite surprised :)

  20. Good to know! Thanks :) For better or for worse, I have finished my first run. The game has it's flaws, yet was fun in the end. I am slightly disappointing by how unbalanced characters are in this game, how a fully trained Arch Sage with full max stats and SS rank tome can't do as much damage as this last minute replacement unit, or how the laguz royals are just overpowered. I mean, the last fights Tibarn and Naesala (who I ended up taking over Marcia at the last minute) were able to tear most things to shreds, and once Kurthnaga and Ena were trained on the Black Dragon king, they were insane. My fully maxed Nephenee with the wishblade was reduced to killing spirits in the last chapter, as a laguz Royal was better in every way. It felt really cheap to know that nothing I did before the final chapter could make any of my favorite Beorc units compete with the last minute laguz units. Still, it's done. I don't know if/when I'll do another run, but I'm glad I finally finished this game as it's been the only one in the series I've missed (well, except New Mystery, but I don't know Japanense). Now I have few months off before getting Fates and can do so knowing I'm caught up. It's been fun, Radiant Dawn, but time for me to move on to the next adventure. To all who have been reading/following/answering in this topic, my thanks for putting up with an insecure player second guessing.... well, everything lol. You guys are great. Hope to see you all in Fates ;)
  21. Almost to the end! I'm so close I can taste it! Right now, I'm training up my two dragons on the Dragon king himself. So far so good, but I'm curious: that wave he sends out, what is that called (similar to Lekain's silence thing). Is there a formula for how much damage it does? It's range seems to be nine (which seems odd) and I don't dare let Leanne get close enough to have her conversation with THAT going on. I did whittle Nasir and friend to an untransformed state, and had Tibarn shove them into corners, so they aren't an issue, at least. Still, not knowing what that is, how it works, etc, annoys me. Anyone know?
  22. Hm, quick question. I've not been able to play much, so I'm still heading into the tower. It looks like a multi-fight without a full base thing, based on the numerous screens. Of concern is I don't seem to be able to change skills or use bonus experience once inside the tower. Can anyone confirm if that is the case, of I can switch skills and use bonus exp later? I used a bit of my bonus exp, but not all of it. And if I'm going to lose access to it, I'd like to use it all first, you know?
  23. Well, I've made it to Rebirth! Huzzah! Now then, who the heck do I take? Stat wise, the last six fights in this chapter have given so much exp my best units are all maxed (Micaiah, Ena, and Kuthanaga, who will be getting a LOT of left over bonus exp I apparently don't have to use). I'm just wondering, with over 50 possible choices, how many possible script changes are there? I know there are various boss convo's, but I can't imagine leaving behind so many main characters (Elinica, Tibarn, Mist, Soren, Titania, etc) and not having the script have two dozen variations. I'm going to look over the scripts after I'm done, but this kind of boggles my mind, wondering if I should prioritize anyone for story reasoning. Right now, I'm grabbing Soren, Titania, Rolf, Mist, Boyd, Elincia, Tibarn, Nephenee, Marcia, and Ilyana, all maxed (I still have others maxed too, like Jill and Haar, and I'd grab them over Kurth and Ena if it would let me). Reyson's my choice for Heron at moment. I think it should be fine, but I can't help but wonder how this is all going to work out, worrying I'm missing something but not taking ________ with me if that makes sense.
  24. Blast. Does the song 'unlock' just by recruiting him, or do you need to complete the game with him recruited? Essentially, could I finish the stage with him recruited, save on a different file and then go back to the old file and kill him?
  25. (unlikely spoiler question time!) Ok, so I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm fighting against Oliver. Again. And apparently he can be recruited. WHY. I have no desire to recruit this guy. Is there any reason to recruit him (some hidden scene, awesome item, etc) or can I just kill this guy? I searched the forums and someone mentioned they thought recruiting him unlocked a song, but was't sure. Anyone know if this is true? As I'd really like to tear him to pieces.
