  1. well that was easy enough i'm not 100% sold on the lurkscum argument but i've also been burned by this kind of player before (i have the tendency to give them too much benefit of the doubt) i know hammer isn't required d1 but is it enabled? because if it is i kinda don't wanna vote just to make sure we have as much time as possible
  2. @beppi/kahl gun to your head would you go werner or djimmi and why for the sake of this scenario assume i don't exist or something
  3. of the current top 3 votes i'm clearly least comfortable lynching myself didn't get crazy scum vibes from either of the other 2 so i'd probably have to reread which is something i was hoping to avoid zzzzzz would help if either of them were here
  4. i'll be here on and off until eod but i don't actually have time to reread anything prolly about time i ##Unvoted though
  5. @Werner Werman the manner in which it's delivered is entirely too lacking in self-awareness to come from a newbie scum player (i AM running off the assumption that hilda is a newbie - sorry if i'm wrong!) in my experience, a newer scum player tends to err on the side of acquiescence to how the village thinks they should play, rather than sticking to their guns and brazenly maintaining their own playstyle which is, i feel, what hilda is doing here
  6. oh hey, a confident read this is town vs town
  7. i'm here and not in the most coherent frame of mind after a long day of watching sportsball. don't feel like doing much beyond skimming so let's do that this is such a classic stubborn town post it's not even funny i'm feeling a towny sort of effort out of cagney that i like and they've had quite a few of the same thoughts that i've had (the above on hilda, for example) @Wally Warbles it's not that i feel like a vote on kahl could have been perceived as an "easy mislynch" (assuming he's town, it's not/wouldn't be, under any circumstances); it's more that i feel like the manner in which the vote was made was safe regardless of who the vote was actually cast on brineybeard: of course townreads on d1 are going to have qualifiers lmao. the instant i have any sort of confidence in any read i make i'll be sure to let you know. also, out of curiosity: what do you think about grim pushing werner? i have my own thoughts but i'd like to hear what you have to say on the matter
  8. tl;dr the vote 'n run is a classic scum move because there's a surprisingly good chance it lets you dodge taking any actual responsibility for the vote
  9. not huge on matchstick. wouldn't really say i have any real scumreads outside of that. i tend to be a lot better at establishing townreads than scumreads, especially early on. shrug emoji the kahl vote doesn't seem THAT out of left field to me but it could be because i have the benefit of hindsight it's become clear to me that i probably worded the rebuttal thing poorly. so uh let me fix that matchstick voting then bailing is basically passing the buck on taking actual responsibility for the vote. kahl can rebut, yes, but matchstick is no obligation to continue the interaction, because he's gone. after that one of three things happens: either the vote catches on and sustains itself without matchstick's help, the vote dies out forgotten and matchstick catches very little heat for it, or the case gets turned around on matchstick and he's forced to actually defend it. only one out of three of these is actually bad for a hypothetical scum!matchstick, and the prolonged absence (a few hours counts as prolonged, yes) buys him time to prepare in the event of this happening
  10. wish more people were around the number of posts that happened in the 80 years it took me to multiquote p2 was disheartening
  11. think i like bvbb's p3 posting no particular reason why tbh just GUT speaking of GUT cagney carnation is officially my top town, fight me
  12. i don't think i have another multiquote wall in me gonna just reply to random bs associative reads d1 are a trap. impossible to call scum-motivated without more player meta type context (which, again, lol) but uh... don't do it lmao
  13. page 2 catchup megaquote extravaganza was on the fence about how i felt about this stuff for a bit but i think in the end i lean town on both of them? werner's post breaks town for me with the last bit, i think - i understand that it's a super thin reason to vote someone but at the very least he's following up and attempting to prod sally into more discussion. at the same time, however, i think the reasoning behind brineybeard's vote is coming from a towny mindset super thin on both counts but it's there p much agree with everything in this post, which is a good look for bvbb i fail to see how this is disagreement? don't really draw any alignment conclusions out of it, just kind of confused so my concern with your push on bvbb is that pushing at flaws in someone's logic is kind of a major component of scumhunting like, you can push someone for interactions/voting patterns that look like scum. you can push someone for tone. or you can push someone because their reads are fake and there are internal logical inconsistencies. disagreeing with someone's logic is a pretty good reason to question them further, and i'm not super concerned about people flinging votes around early on d1 this is a Good Post decent point about werner's disappearance. pretty much disagree with the first sentence though - rvs omgus is a pretty null tell this post is very... i dunno what to call it. "safe", maybe? all of the reads made are pretty easy reads, with the possible exception of the kahl vote (and then the door is pre-emptively shut for any kahl rebuttal with him bailing from the thread immediately afterwards). not the biggest fan of this starting to think the semantics stuff is just Kahl as a player and not anything that would be particularly alignment-indicative tbh. obviously impossible to know for sure what with these aliases running around but yknow i think calling werner's vote reactive is a little disingenuous given that he did attempt to start dialogue (however limited) with sally. this, of course, is undermined by the fact that werner then bailed from the thread... but you later go on to say that it's unfair to accuse him of having bailed quite yet (and from where i'm sitting a few hours later he still hasn't returned) do you have no thoughts on matchstick voting you? you reply to his post but say nothing about the vote itself. i do like you pushing him about his werner read, though getting too lazy to quote uhhh brineybeard's posting at the bottom of the page feels lightly town-motivated so good for him kahl is right in that semantics/asking questions is alignment neutral in a vacuum, but doing these things in high volumes (especially having a very high questions:contributions ratio) can be a decent scumtell i'm honestly starting to think kahl's stubbornness might be coming from town, though. a lot of wolves give up and concede the point way sooner than this. WE'RE ON TO PAGE 3 haha kill me
  14. ##Vote: Captain Brineybeard coward someone post something dumb so i can cast a real vote
  15. Well, shit, now I have to do a captcha to post? This is my last post for now, and if I don't respond to you, oh well. It's ironic that the game is easier to read after dumping all of my thoughts, but now I'm having problems stringing things together. Nagito's earliest ED1 is a conversation with Kokichi. It's rather refreshing, amidst all the accusations. Actually, I like this slot's D1. It's direct, and much easier on the mind than Mello (I'm taking responses in a vacuum, and I'm still not happy with him) and Toshio (who did not get to the point). While the second paragraph is an interesting point at the time, it's now irking, given who was lynched D2 and is currently sitting at L-1 on D3. Where's the scumreads on the most active players (this is to everyone)? This in D2 is confusing as hell, because Mello can't be BBM, and buddy himself. Doctor vote is also a null, since it didn't seem like it was particularly serious. Furthermore, Kratos wasn't about to be lynched, short of people thinking that mafia had both doctor and strongman. I don't like this, because fucking up random things in the game doesn't make someone town/scum (this applies to Mello as well). I don't know what time the phase ends, am I town or scum? The answer is that it's irrelevant, because it has nothing to do with my alignment, and everything to do with a lack of reading comprehension. Not that it matters, because all I know is that it's D3, and not the beginning of the phase. I can't read the Toshio interactions for crap. I can read the Lapis ones, at least. I think Nagito comes out much better between the two. I'm going to address random Kokichi/random stuff in here, because I don't have the time/patience for another post. Disagree with this, because first-pick mafia would most likely go after vengeful, not doctor. Speaking of the claim, it was somewhat out of the blue, but I can't fault Kratos for it. Better to get that out of the way early, given who was behind that alias. Given my stance on Nagito, I like this vote by Lapis a lot less. I mentioned it earlier, but with more context, it now stands out as really bad. Trying to get stuff out of associative reads is decent D2 play. Definitely not worth voting Nagito over. This was probably the best case against Faye. Then again, if I was vengeful and wanting to be lynched, I'd intentionally get everyone mad, as opposed to being flat-out grumpy because I'm tired to the point of having issues with a captcha. I don't know when the phase ends, and I don't want the current lynch. I'm doing this in order to figure out who I'd like to lynch instead. So, after rereading everything again, here's what I have: Feeling better about The Batter, despite not really existing D3. Posting style is pretty direct, and if I feel something needs explanation, I'll bug him about it. Not scumreading this slot ATM, but I want to see more come D4. I'm still not feeling the Endeavor lynch. But if there's no time for another wagon, then this would be purely for associative reads. I really wish I was in this slot at the beginning of the game, because this feels like it's going to be Crowler Mk. 2, and I would've hard-defended him until the sub request. I haven't said crap about Kokichi, and I need to change that. Biggest ping right now is putting Endeavor at L-1. With the sheer number of subs happening, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for one to do a quick skim, vote Endeavor for earlier content, and inadvertently hammer. Like The Batter, I don't remember much of them on D3. Then again, if this was a scumtell, I'd flip a coin and vote one of Kokichi/Batter. Which I'm not going to do. Needs better activity come D4, given today's Endeavor shenanigans. I'm not scumreading this slot now, but I really need to read their posts in-depth. Mello/Lapis' various "slips" are a lack of reading comprehension, not necessarily town/scum. I've called out random mechanical things before, because it's something noteworthy. Because if those two slips really are town, then me not knowing the end phase time and attempting to cram everything in should also be a towntell. Except that it's not. Speaking of, Mello's D1 wasn't great, but I like his later content. Lapis is the exact opposite. Toshio's words to content raito still bugs the crap out of me. Mostly everyone else managed to RP without it interfering with my reads on them, and I don't have time to sit down and translate every single thing, while stripping out all the irrelevant stuff. I'll get a better opinion on him later. I'm not commenting too much on Omar because I'm out of time. I'm not scumreading this slot. For now, I'm going to drop a vote here: ##Unvote ##Vote: Lapis Lazuli That vote on Nagito for the associative reads is what did it. It also feels like you're still sort-of scumreading him. Kokichi's case had some merit, but yours? I can't get behind those reasons. It's not much of a case, but given the state of my mind (I'm way too tired to dig up quotes and analyze each and every one of them), it's the strongest scum read I have among the living players. I'd have something on Toshio, if I could get to the heart of his posts. It's the wordiness that pings me, but it's not enough to warrant a vote. Good night, and maybe I'll be back in time. If I'm lynched, I hope this proves helpful. But at least you'll remember me, which is better than what I can say about my predecessors!
  16. Starting here, it's a RVS analysis. Except there's a lot of it. I agree with that vote on my slot earlier, because whoever the hell had this slot originally had a shoddy early-mid D1 showing. That's the time to poke, prod, and talk with everyone, not clam up. Which means I have very limited time to interact with as many of you as possible, so I can be useful if I'm lynched/killed. Biggest thing that bugs me about this is the lack of analysis on everyone else. Bugging the inactive slot is one thing, but it also requires associative reads from the active players. From what I can read, it looks like the issue with Crowler was targeting not-active players. Yet Faye was lynched and Endeavor was at L-1 for a while. This is really hypocritical, and I suspect it's part of the reason why I'm having issues with my reads and rereads. Yet Mello wasn't lynched on D2, Faye was. The more I read of this townslip, the more convinced I am that it's a nullslip. Yes, I'm looking at it from hindsight, but the supposed actions that should've happened, well, didn't. And Crowler outright claimed vanilla, so why even bother with the night kill? He was prime mislynch material. If I'm not posting stuff from you (or anyone else), it means it didn't ping me enough to comment on it. There's 700+ posts in this game, I don't have time for a post-by-post breakdown of every last person. @Omar Little I'm sorry this is taking a while. I started on Nagito, and then THIS happened. To the rest of the game: Why would I raise eight hundred ways of hell when Endeavor was at L-1, and WHY would I attempt to hard-defend him? And then, why would I post a bunch of things that are contradictory to the rest of the game logic? Scum strategy would be to be more active than the last two posters, without drawing lynch attention away from Endeavor. I'm going to make myself useful, even if I'm a corpse. Now back to rereading Nagito. Who has way more posts than anyone else so far. FML.
  17. I think it's null, not faked. There's nothing more to it.
  18. I read the entire game in one sitting. You do that and tell me whether or not your brain would be fried. I'll do a more detailed reading of Mello/Batter later. But not now, because I have bigger fish to fry.
  19. Next: Lapis First Lapis, come back, we need you. The RP was a little weird, but I could understand her points. I don't like this - vote or don't, but being passive about it accomplishes nothing. Don't agree that Omar is town based on role, because night phases are great for thought-out posts without having to worry about a bunch of random notifications. Likewise, don't agree with that Nagito vote, since prodding people based on a newly-flipped scum is legit, especially early in the phase. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. I love the associative read with Nagito, since that seems to be Lapis' thing. Like Toshio, I'm not really happy with this slot sitting on a single scum read. Which means I need to read Nagito, despite the fact that I'm beginning to hallucinate a bit.
  20. From a scum PoV, it can be used to drive a mislynch further. From a player PoV, if it was a drafting error, it affects the entire game. Hence why I don't put too much stock into it. Yes, Nagito, that includes your quote. Well, as long as it means you actually have more than that Endeavor read, that's great. If you're open to people that agree with your logic, mafia simply needs an opinion or two that jives, and you're less likely to suspect them. If you're mafia, then it's a lot easier to take on someone else's opinion as your own. No matter what you're alignment, it's bad play at best, and scummy at worst. I lost my Lapis place again. At this rate, I won't have time for Nagito/Kokichi.
  21. Your first post was on page 19. BBM announced it on page 18. Still trying to read through everything, but it's no fun when SF randomly decides that it doesn't like page 21. Mello's coordinate thing is null, because Crowler flipped town (hindsight, etc., etc.). I'd call that sort of thing out regardless of alignment.
  22. Not when it's someone that isn't posting that much. It's why I really didn't like Faye's lynch D2, even if that slot needed to go. Almost all of her associative reads are weak. Trying to figure out where Lapis subbed out. I think it's somewhere between pages 11 and 19, but SF is loading those pages slowly FSR.
  23. Next: Toshio Why did I agree to sub in? Why do I hate myself so? Ugh, here goes. For the sake of my sanity, I'm going to condense this guy's posts into points. First votes Kratos for his vote on Endeavor, citing Kokichi self-vote as the reason. This is weird, because it's both passive and aggressive at the same time, but boils down to "I just have an issue with your vote on Endeavor, not the other voters". This is basically the bullet point above, but way longer. Don't agree that Mello was really contributing well here - there were three content posts total, two of which were him sitting back and commenting on other votes. Also, the logic of "I agree with it so he must be town" is just bad. I sure as hell didn't agree with Mello's conclusion that Lapis was scum (later in the game), but I think it's a good case regardless. This interests me from a voting PoV. Scum!Toshio would've known that Crowler wasn't scum, so why suddenly vote Endeavor? From the words PoV, blargh. This could literally have been the first blurb, and been fine. I don't like this at all. Form your own reads, don't rely on others to read people as town/mafia. I do like his interactions with Nagito, though. Sometimes, he even gets to the point! One of the stronger associative reads IMO. It's not helpful now, but the fact that it exists is nice. I'm really not liking his Endeavor tunnel for most of the phase. Why stick to someone with sketchy content? Current vote priority is Toshio > Mello > The Batter. Between the extra words and his stance on Endeavor, I'm not too happy.
