  1. I shouldn't have used sarcasm like that, but those are the kind of thoughts that any philosophy of personal superiority leads to. Even if you don't see yourself as one of the superior ones, you are still saying that some people are worth less than others, and are less deserving of their lives and of their property.
  2. Be careful what you say. The Maya are the people of corn. It may be that they've been pushed into submission yesterday by the Toltecs and today by the Spaniards, that they have lost the unimaginable wealth their cities once held. The prophecies are very clear. They will rise up again... like corn.
  3. Are you really so surprised? I say shit like that all the time, and so does almost everyone in my life. You have to learn how to recognize jokes, especially on a forum like this one. Individual superiority? So you think you've got something special that makes you better than the great mass of people out there? They're all 'tards anyway, so we should gas middle America, right?
  4. You've been smoking again. There's nothing wrong with the taste of tomatoes, ketchup is the disgusting stuff.
  5. I'd fire that guy's emblem, if you know what I mean.
  6. The topic title says it all. Kirby has an excellent moveset in this game, and is quick on top of that. The flying ability really counteracts most of the disadvantages his light weight brings. You can win matches as Kirby with half the thought and effort it takes with other characters.

We don't! That's the whole point of this thread, I was hoping the people who I just missed could identify themselves. On a completely different note, it would be interesting to organize some kind of get-together for FE people around this area.
  8. Our army is a mere shell of what our nation expects! We must recruit more soldiers into our standing army, or we'll be easy prey to our rivals.
  9. Yes, the point that Obama is portrayed as a monkey at all is what is provoking the reaction. Who knows? Not in the forseeable future, so long as everything keeps along the same path. Racism is still a serious issue, but every serious media figure is on one side. They attack every target they can, even if the target is questionable. The reaction might have been different if the cartoon had been funny at all. Comedy acts as a sort of shield against this kind of criticism.
  10. A pointless waste of time.
  11. Very, very easily. It acknowledges that cops are racist, which by this time is not even really disputed, but it's really pushing the line by portraying Obama as a monkey. Now, I'm anti-Obama and anti-Democrat personally, but it's very hard to deny that portraying a black man as a monkey is racist, considering the various arguments that acknowledged racists have been using since the nineteenth century. You can sling accusations of idiocy around if you want, but they're going to come right back at you if you don't see that.
  12. Janissary? I don't approve of janissaries. Now, I have no bias toward any religion, but the Turkish policy of enslaving Christian children, converting them to Islam, and raising them for the express purpose of murdering their families in the name of Allah is beyond despicable. It is not my place to question the uncontrolled pasts of those who see the glorious star of revolution, however. Welcome to Serene's Forest. You should feel right at home. The FESSR is itself an anarcho-socialist outfit, following in the libertarian tradition of Stalin as interpreted by Mao.
  13. You never need to, either. The spirit of the Revolution guides my barrel.
  14. Along with myself, I would bring my dog Toby, my cousin's dog Jasmine, and my sister's friend's dog Daisy. Together we will start an inbred human-dog dynasty to last ten thousand years and indisputably rule an entire planet.
  15. It's good. I probably should be wearing some right now. The last time I saw an eye doctor, around age nine or so, I was issued a pair and told that I would only grow more farsighted as time went on. Being the wise and obedient young man I was, I refused to wear them and quickly lost them on purpose.
  16. You discriminating against people with good eyesight here? Have something against perfectly spherical eyes?
  17. I could tell you some funny stories about the Maldives.... Well, probably only funny to me.
  18. Do sunglasses count? I just assumed no when I answered the poll.
  19. The cartoonist was a fool for drawing it, what did he expect the reaction would be?
  20. Really now. I never aim. If I am meant to hit, I'll hit, and if I'm not, there's nothing I can do about it. I don't understand how anyone can sanely defy the will of God.
  21. Welcome, Comrade Lifeshroom, to Serene's Forest. Your views of Majora's Mask being superior over Ocarina of Time are a bit unorthodox, and seem to fail to acknowledge the sheer epic nature that Ocarina of Time's quest holds for first-time players, but other than that you seem to have some pretty favorable opinions.
  22. Ah, Comrade FEG! I know you well.
  23. This great game, by TaleWorlds Entertainment (a company consisting only of a Turkish man and his wife who wrote the game together), seems like something that would appeal to Fire Emblem junkies and former junkies. Unlike Fire Emblem, whatever story element the game might have has never gone beyond the planning phase. Like Fire Emblem, however, the battles are simply epic. You outfit your character and a group of companions you can recruit in taverns with equipment personally to fight. You can also raise soldiers, who are automatically equipped based on their class. Though the Party system isn't exactly like Fire Emblem, it's well done and is the closest to FE that I've ever seen in a PC game. The battles are generally between groups with between 15 to 200 soldiers, and model medieval combat excellently. Tactics aren't well modeled, since there is no deep formation system, but the individual combat is a great system, far surpassing Oblivion and every other PC RPG or strategy game that I've played. There is an emphasis on realism, which many games lack, so there isn't much flashy plate male and definitely no dragons or magic spells. The graphics are also on the crude side, though they are more than sufficient in my opinion and the environments are excellently done by any standard. There are plenty of mods available that improve graphics, as well as tweak mechanics, add equipment and scenarios, stuff like that. Enough blathering, though. You can download a demo of the game if you're interested from taleworlds.com, though you'll have to pay or pirate (you'll never be beatified if you choose that path though) if you want to advance beyond level 6 or something. Here are some sample screenshots I took with my favorite character, Bleda the Hun.

    Wondercon

Wondercon is a modern culture convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. I went today, being from the Bay Area interested in the substantial Star Wars component of it. Some important people from the movies, namely Mark Hammill, Carrie Fisher, and Daniel Logan, were there. But to get further toward my point, anyone who attended would have noticed that the plastic bags they gave out today had a big advertisement for Fire Emblem: The Shadow Dragon. There was also a booth there today where people had the opportunity to sample the new game, and some hardcore fans were hanging out there. A couple of people were standing outside of it, too, dressed as Marth and some pegasus knight I didn't recognize. I just dropped by there for a couple minutes, and didn't recognize anyone. But after I left for a couple hours my girlfriend came in and dropped my online name, getting some recognition from people who had posted with me on FESS, Fire Emblem World, and Fire Emblem Anthology, from when I was 14 years old till now. I'm wondering if anyone here was at Wondercon today. I haven't been paying nearly enough attention to the FE community for the past year and a half or so, and I'm kind of curious who would actually remember me from so long ago, not to mention without insulting me.
  25. My sister and I sometimes, in order to blow time, will create huge Pictochat conversations in the model of Golden Sun by passing a DS back and forth. Today, we were stuck in the back of a car together for a few hours and did this. The result was just so good that I couldn't resist recording it onto my computer, and sharing it. In order to understand the humor, you will need to know your Golden Sun characters, and to have a pretty extensive knowledge of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This is probably a lot of you. Also, for clarity, my name is Robert and hers is Amy. In order to show who wrote what, I put a rich socialist red color to the left of my messages, and an ugly hair-mold yellow next to hers. The image I've created is actually extremely faithful to the Pictochat conversation. Almost everything is exactly as it appeared on the DS screen. http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_...657734719152004 The picture is on Tinyupload because it is almost 6000 pixels vertically. Tinypic wouldn't accept it without resizing it.
