  1. I envy you. I nearly never dream that I can remember, and it's always been extremely murky when I have. You shouldn't make assumptions. I used to say things like this, and I learned to stop the hard way. I've played hookey plenty of times to avoid getting more trouble than I would for simple absence. I've accidentally answered the door in just my boxers without noticing, twice. I've gone to school all the time forgetting pencils, and homework too. And I swear my neighbors are dropping hints that they have an illicit card shop in their house.
  2. I live in Piedmont, an enclave within the city of Oakland, which is itself part of the contiguous urban area of San Francisco, the third largest metropolis in California and number one in everything else.
  3. I get the reference. I believe I was promised a pie?
  4. Wow. That's really weird, considering he kept paying the bills. I just loaded up that website not long ago. EDIT: The site's definitely not working now, though, so he might have just had credit for the site to stay up awhile longer when he left.

  6. What happened to Reaver, seriously? Did he just disappear after a certain point and never come back?
  7. They're surprisingly non nutritious, actually. Most people would do well to get more of their calories from meat and veggies, cutting out inefficient foods like potatoes and rice.
  8. Please don't take a name that someone else has used in the past. There are a lot of people on this board who I haven't seen in years, almost all with new names. It's confusing enough already.
  9. Impressive, but I've seen people who've made hundreds of posts in a day. Not the kind of post I enjoy reading, of course, but hundreds all the same.
  10. Congratulations. For some reason, though, I can't escape the idea that VASM owns them.
  11. I was on FEW back when there were only about 200 members. Either as Thunk00 or Thunk. Something pressing came up not long after the first big influx of members, though, and I had to leave in a hurry.

That's a bit different. It's a complex arrangement involving multiple televisions, universal health insurance, and vibrantly colorful money.

In Neoliberal America, YOU watch tv!!

  14. What's up with all these name changes? I'm already having enough trouble remembering exactly who people are as it is! But welcome regardless.

    Are you a virgin?

Isn't it legal so long as there's no more than two years' difference between the participants? At least in California? I don't want to go to jail.

    Coffee or Tea?

I don't really drink tea, but I will say it's better than coffee. Caffeine is just too addictive, and should be used sparingly. I know some people who used to be, like me, able to weather 72 hours of being awake with near-to-full functionality before needing to go to sleep. Then, since they started drinking coffee in the morning, they're always tired and angry when they don't get their fix. Personally, caffeine doesn't really affect me much anyway. I must have a lead stomach, because alcohol and oral drugs don't really do much for me. This is probably the only reason I didn't give in and transform into a rabid coffee drinker years ago.
  17. You do understand that making a big deal of how things are going tense new will just create new tension, of a different kind? Better to keep stuff like this to PM, if you ask me. Find out WHO is being a jerk, and call him/her on it.
  18. Hey, what's up. I remember you pretty clearly. If my memory serves me well, we talked in the CD a few times back on FESS2, when I was relatively new there, and had a 00 after my name. Hope to see you around this place.
  19. Welcome, friend. You could call me a veteran in this forum, joined up on Thursday. In January? I believe you're referring to New Years.
  20. Welcome, comrade, it's been awhile since I've seen you.

    1984

They do call each other "comrade" and Big Brother is described as having a mustache, but beyond that I don't remember any similarities. Definitely no ideological ones. As I remember, Orwell himself was a closet Trotskyist of sorts who envisioned a world revolution triggered by simultaneous revolutions and coups across Europe which would eventually absorb the American and Soviet spheres, scarcely an anticommunist. He was so red, he had trouble getting a publisher for all of his books except Animal Farm, and only published his directly political essays in already leftist newspapers and magazines. Keep in mind I haven't worked with the book for years. I might be missing something big, even though I'm pretty sure I'm right.
  22. Trust me, it was more confusing in person.
