  1. The issue he brought up with this is there's not enough tiles left that he could edit without breaking the game in some way (like removing the The End from the end of the game) but if that isn't the case then bravo, I still think it'd be much more efficient to make the patch after Echoes rather than make a patch you have a 90% chance you're gonna have to change in 3 months, and I do think if it could be properly expanded/hacked without going over the NES file limit so it'll run efficiently and smoothly from a coding perspective that would be brilliant.
  2. Hector and Lyn's pairing have a unique theme associated with the pairing the only other pairing to get a unique theme is Eliwood x Ninian, which is almost unanimously considered the canonical pairing by sheer inferrence theres also the fact Lyn fails to fufill the lord archetype that Marth, Alm, Celica, Sileph, and Leif all followed in their respective games (in Marth's case, his sequel at least) and that Roy follows in his ending should he marry Lilina which similar to Eliwood X Ninian is the most generally accepted pairing; probably for this exact reason- The lord(s, in Gaiden and FE4/5's cases) of the game become very highly influential rulers who unify their homeland and bring peace to it in some way, as well as taking the throne and ruling afterword. Marth becomes the great Hero King who created the United Kingdom of Archanea, Alm and Celica unite Valentia and lay the foundation for Valm, Sileph unites Grannvale and Leif unites Thracia. In Roy's Lilina ending he unites the Lycian Legaue and creates the United Kingdom of Lycia, pretty closely paralling Marth, something that he fails to do in any other pairing or his solo ending. In Hector's case, he does this regardless of pairing; he takes the Ostian throne and brings a new and powerful order to the Lycian League. When he dies, Eliwood fulfills this in a strange way by having to fill Hector's shoes; but Eliwood still ultimately fulfills this nonetheless. This leaves Lyn as the single odd duck in the entire series up until this point; she basically for no reason abandons Caelin and hands it over to Hector in her solo ending and her endings that pair her with anyone but Hector, and Caelin is annexed into Ostia and Ostia expands this way- so the area that was Caelin exists in FE6, it's just part of Ostia. This makes a much, much larger amount of sense however if she marries Hector; she becomes the wife of Marquess Ostia (Queen Ostia?), DOES take her rightful throne as all lords in the series have up until this point (through co-ruling Ostia, which is now one and the same with her throne of Caelin) and fulfills the role of the lord unit in Fire Emblem similarly to her predecessors by uniting Ostia and Caelin. Not as grandiose a scale as Marth or Alm but it is a distinct event. it also has the very tidy side effect of perfectly explaining her absence in FE6 if she gets butchered with her husband tragically just offscreen. For the record, Eirika and Ephraim do this in their ending for Renais, Ike fulfills this in a weird and minor extent (inheriting Greil's position), Elincia and Micaiah in a more obvious extent (Queen of Crimea and Queen of Daein), Chrom does this halfway through the game (becoming the Exalt) and my memory is fuzzy but his ending might have to do with doing more to unify the world? And finally, the avatar does this for Valla in Revelation, Xander does this for Nohr in both Conquest and Revelation, and Ryoma likewise for Birthright and Revelation, with the Revelation ending resulting in the three rulers unifying their three kingdoms in peace. So it's actually a consistent thing that happens every game in the series, so Lyn would be an extremely odd duck compared even to Michaiah if she doesn't canonically marry Hector. i think them dedicating a unique theme that plays NO WHERE ELSE in the game to Hector X Lyn and not having any other unique pairing themes except for Eliwood X Ninian is a strong indicator that FE7 was written with Hector X Lyn being considered the canonical series of events, due to the above reasons and more.
  3. That's actually a pretty poor rational, especially since Duma would be the name it's corrected to. The only thing you really have to go in that direction is Nova Cemetary; but then I have to point something out Luthier already makes translation FE2 properly a pretty much impossible prospect without ASM hacking in extensions for name length, so at that point the issue would be moot. I still say, again, we wait for Echoes if and when a fan translation patch is done and we automatically have most of the translation done at that point; at the very least we have names for items, characters, locations, and factions all laid out even if the script is altered durastically enough to prevent a 1:1 translation patch job. i actually talked with Artemis (the guy who did the patch); he basically said it's possible to modify the game for the English names but it requires a lot of work and he's too lazy/busy to do so. Project Naga did some very similar work so maybe someone from Project Naga can help with the coding aspect of fitting names in, but Luthier is very much non negotiable now that Echoes is coming and it's using it. (Not that Awakening names were negotiatable to start with).
  4. The distinction isn't even entirely clear in and of itself what IS is counting as a spinoff at this point; do they consider remakes their own thing now? BSFE has an off and on relationship with being considered a core game. Is Heroes considered core by IS's standards? theres too many questions and given the canonical connection between most of them I don't think we have any definitive pointers to sort them aside from maybe the TRS games. I'd suggest doing order of release for ALL games, including TMS, followed by a divided place for TRS. Cipher is a bit trickier since it's ongoing; we can perhaps put it at the end of the list due to the reasoning it will include characters from Echoes and other games in the future. we could divide them by console or storyarc perhaps, such as dividing the first three games, then the two Jugdral games, then the GBA games, then Tellius, and so on.
  5. When I say named after them, I'm referring to in universe terms. I.E. They got their names after Nino dropped them off at the orphanage at the border of Bern, which is heavily alluded to by Lucius's endings. Irl, yea, it's the other way around but the topic called for in universe justification for the English name being rendered as it is so I was referring to in universe lore where Raigh and Lugh are (all but stated to be at least) taken in by Lucius and possibly Raven/Raymond; since NoA is translating FE6 with the context of FE7 having already been translated, this point does have a degree of real world relevancy since NoA would be best served by analyzing the connections (especially subtle ones) between 6 and 7 and trying to preserve them as best they can in an FE6 translation They imply Lucius founds the orphanage in question with such a heavy hand in FE7 they good as state it; they clearly specify the orphanage was erected by him in Araphan and indeed the orphanage in FE6 is in Araphan, they additionally point out it has connections to the Elimine clergy which Lucius also has in spades. Raven's solo ending also suggests he is in Araphan; the same location as Lucius who founded the orphanage and whom Raven has a known connection to. Do the math there. レイヴァン = Raven レイ = Raigh ルセア = Lucius ルゥ = Lugh I'm going to reiterate what I said before; Raigh's name is literally just the first syllable of Raven's name and this is plainly apparent in the Japanese text as shown above (in Lugh's case the gh is silent and his name is pronounced identically to the Lu portion of Lucius at any rate). Thus, "Raigh" being pronounced as "Ray", the first syllable of both Raven and Raymond, would be quite plausible from a pure textual viewpoint this, combined with the fact Lucius (and to a lesser extent Raven) are specifically connected to the Araphan orphanage, seems to be no mere coincidence; or, at the very bare minimum, NoA is assuming it isn't a coincidence and basing Raigh's name on being pronounced as "Ray" to fit in with Lucius and Raven; it is perhaps plausible it's a massive coincidence between characters who do have an establishible connection but at the bare minimum this seems to be the logic behind this specific translation even beyond that however, the respective characters' personalities match up quite nicely between Raven/Raigh and Lucius/Lugh, which in turn suggests the FE6 characters obtained their personality traits from the FE7 ones Going by the pure Japanese names you can potentially infer the names have a correlation; this aspect would be completely lost on an English audience if Raigh were translated as Lleu due to Raven/Raymond being translated as such, whereas the potential implications are existent still with the current naming scheme which seems to be (at least part) of the rational for going with Raigh. Basically, Nintendo of America/8-4/Treehouse/Whoever is translating at the present time themselves seem to be making the inference about Lucius and Raven raising them at any rate, hence why we got Raigh.
  6. I feel like we should wait for Echoes and then if we still want an FE2 translation we can basically just copy/paste Echoes'/ English translation as applicable into the NES game. Then we'll have official English names across the board.
  7. You're also forgetting Raigh and Lugh are supposed to have their names be the first syllables of Raven and Lucius respectively- this is apparent in the Japanese version-since it's all but stated they're the two individuals that raised them. That's probably why it was rendered as Raigh to begin with was to keep the connection to Raven. Hence, the pronunciation of the English names are "Ray" and "Lu" to allude to their foster parents Ra(y)-ven/mond and Lu-cius. This connection is made apparent by the fours' respective Japanese names, but this connection would basically be lost if they rendered Raigh as Lleu, so Raigh best keeps most aspects of the in-universe intention and connection between 6/7 at any rate, Thea officially throws any names that aren't from a localized game (yes, this includes Awakening as so far they have shown zero in game indication of backing down from any Awakening name) from a fairly high window since it was Thite in the poll (or maybe she straps them to her Pegasus and sends them away). Keep that in mind before getting your hopes up that Rhys will be Kilroy in the Tellius expansion. edit: I think this further supports my theory that the Heroes site was translated by someone largely unaffiliated with the heroes translators who were only handed the names Heroes had at the time at BEST and all names from the localized US games including Raquesis and Orsin will be reused in Heroes if they become relevant
  8. This is completely dependant on what Gringe says if it'll be implemented but have you been able to clean up the Link Arena/Could you clean up the Link Arena so it isn't a mess?
  9. Also I'll be more than willing to buy a flashcart and test the updated patch on real GBA and Game Boy Player hardware. if there's anything specific I need to be on the lookout for let me know, but I will probably end up using the companion numbers patch
  10. Yup, at this point the voting website names have basically been thrown from a five story window. so far, Heroes has been consistent with the Awakening and Blazing Blade names right? (Can't believe heroes finally gave us an English title for 7 lol)
  11. https://i.imgur.com/7guBic9.jpg Thea and Juno confirmed as names. Keep an eye out for FE6 unit quotes like this.
  12. He said "previously", as if he's acknowledging the names are subject to change. At this point it's hard to gauge if it would be more effort to do what you suggested or to change them as they come, and there's still names on the official site that contradict official localizations for other games to add uncertainty too On that note, can we have a full list of FE6 only characters that appear in Heroes, like our dear Gwendolyn and Fir?
  13. OP should be updated as the localized title for FE7 is "The Blazing Blade"
  14. I feel like Gwen or Gwendy would make it more immediately obvious it's a contraction of Gwendolyn to the average person who comes here from Heroes, for my 2 cents. We'd end up to a similar situation to Lyn, who's officially designated in the game data and unit listing as "Lyn", which is an affectionate nickname people close to her like Hector and Florina use, but who's full name is Lyndis and is called as such in the main story although, quite unlike Gwendolyn, she's known officially as "Lyn" in other media with her full name thrown to the wayside.
  15. This seems to confirm what I thought hearing the lyrics at first; it seems to be talking about the MUs and the fact they're reincarnations of each other as stated in the Japanese version of Fates ("Your spirit shall shine across the generations, now, and for all time" and the last verse seeming to be attempting to summon the player into Heroes like Anna does). it might be helpful still to translate the Japanese version with the above in mind to try and perhaps grasp what they're going for, unless they took a lot of liberties
  16. This is another flagrant case of the text being mangled. The specific Japanese word (romanized as Sekai) used is also used to refer to different time periods, societies, and continents- So it can very well be interpreted from the original text that he's saying the literal opposite, that Tellius is the same world. Anankos also uses this word when describing Fate's "world" in Hidden Truths. Priam/Ike therefore may very well not be from a different world and that line of text holds about as much salt as the "swan" bullshit 8-4 pulled with Olivia's supports. The jury is still very much out and Occam's Razor still very much pointing to Tellius being a continent in Awakening's world (Unless Archaneans are just gullible enough to believe Ike with zero proof). Even if that isn't good enough, Chrom seems to also refer to different time periods and continents as "Worlds" a few times even in the base game- such as the best ending when he says MU saved "all worlds yet to come" as if he means new kingdoms (Like Ylisse over Archanea). Chrom's explict knowledge of Ashera (which would require stupid amounts of insane troll logic to justify if it wasn't the same world), explicit mention of Laguz existing in the world numerous times, and Priam all seem to strongly point against 8-4 and Treehouse's interpretations of these uses of "Sekai" as being entirely correct. So far it seems very much canonically the case that the GBA games are an alternate continuity and everything else is generally one timeline, even Echoes is visually making Rigel allude to Nohr and Hoshido/Nohr's continent seems to strongly resemble the southern half of Valentia.
  17. Future Past DLC is specifically implied to be Morgan's timeline- Female Morgan even gets the same book that she has a duplicate of from the main game timeline's avatar, which explains a paradox brought up in F!Morgan's supports The big sticking point here is Chrom and Ylisseans acknowledging Ashera as a legitiment goddess, and explicit mentions of Laguz in support conversations. 8-4 didn't do the thing any favors because a lot of specific references like Olivia and Donnel's supports bringing up Leanne and Naesala were just flat out butchered into something else or translated in a dubious way. Trust me, the Radiant Hero paralogue is far from the only thing saying Tellius shares a world with Archanea outright, and pretty much the only way to argue around all of this is with quite a bit of insane troll logic that would make Owain being in Fates seem reasonable by comparasion (specifically, that the Archaneans started taking a rambling nomadic sellsword at his word when he says he killed a goddess they've never heard of, started to believe in shape shifters that have as much presence as Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster in their world (Laguz), started to acknowledge and possibly worship said goddess with no proof he didn't make it up on the spot. Basically, you're suggesting Archaneans are gullible as SHIT, and taking a jump in logic that will propel you over the fucking moon. It's a sticky situation either way, so thank god Elibe and Magvel aren't mentioned by anyone in the base game) and theres a huge misconception here- Awakening isn't putting ALL the game continents together. Elibe and Magvel are very much so their own thing until further notice as Chrom and Co. never mention them anywhere in the base game as far as I know. The only thing they've touched is Tellius, which gets numerous mentions in the base game.

  21. We need to form an army- the Heroes Liberation Army- and march on NoA to free the heroes from the clutches of the Treehouse Empire we can all chant the SSBB fire emblem theme during the march too
  22. It doesn't even have a damn thing to do with Priam. Notice I'm referring pretty much SOLELY to their taking it seriously in the first place, not Priam at all. Any reference to Priam himself never left my mouth. also, as for Fates, the DLC seems to have been mistranslated, as the Japanese base game all but confirms it IS the same world as Awakening since Corrin is STATED to reincarnate into Robin
  23. PSA: 10 Free Orbs for registering My Nintendo for Heroes get em while they're hot when the game launches
