  1. I'd probably pick the name Sterling for either Morgan, because my main Female!Avatar is named Silvia and her male counterpart Silver. Add that with Chrom and we've got ourselves a nice little metal band.
  2. I named my team "Mass Effect". ; ] Theming them is going to be a bit tricky, but I'll try.
  3. I'll definitely keep that strategy in mind, thank you!
  4. Different strokes for different folks? It may be because of the dynamics that come with each pairing. Henry and Olivia is the classic bad boy meets a sweet, shy girl who tries to redeem him scenerio while Ricken and Maribelle is a prime example of a Rescue Romance.
  5. Aww, cute. ^_^ ... Crap. Forgot about Emmeryn. I feel god-awful, let me add her too.
  6. Really? My Sorcerer!Fem!Avatar and her Morgan activate Vengenance like a bunch of maniacs. So does Vaike with his Vengenance axe, and it's pretty helpful for both of them.
  7. I prefer Avatar simply because it isn't as Engrish-y as My Unit. And I know too many various Robins to use Robin and have people recognize who I'm talking about. It's a lot easier, especially since I'm a part of the Young Justice/Teen Titans/DC fandom and have five different "Robins" to keep track of.
  8. I absolutely love the English voices - there isn't one I don't like or that I feel doesn't fit the character. But, I'll admit, some of the Japanese voices are excellent and I applaud them for their skill. My favorite Japanese voices would have to be Tharja's, Olivia's and Henry's. Favorite English voices? Morgan, Chrom and Ricken. (Yuri Lowenthal fangirl. Don't hate.) Special mention goes to Inigo, whose voice makes me melt no matter the language.
  9. Yikes. Ooh. I'm going to need to do some serious preparation for that one. To the strategy tent, away!
  10. Ahaha! Well, you can make it all females. Hang on, lemme add that.
  11. Oh, yeah. His is a PAIN. Me, I'm probably just going to make it Family Fun Time and bring along Chrom's Kickass Family of DoomTM and Olivia and call it a day.
  12. Aww, really? I'll admit, the first time I saw Lethality I panicked too, so it's okay. ^_^ Ooh, Sorcerer. I love that class so much. My Fem!Avatar's a Sorcerer too, with Slow Burn, Lifetaker, Vengeance, Veteran and Hex. All she has to do is open any tome and watch everything die happily. I'm currently running her through a Sorcerer-only grinding at the Arena with Tharja and Henry.
  13. Wow. Four chapters on Breakneck Pass? I bow before your might, Mercury! Oh, for Frederick - Hand Axes are an excellent weapon choice for him. They've got range, so he can attack any pesky mages aiming for him, he still does decent damage, and it'll, of course, help with his axe rank.
  14. Actually, Inigo has a fantastic Luck stat: Olivia's Luck +4 added onto Chrom's Rightful King opens up tons of skill possibilities for him. His Armsthirft will activate a lot more than you may think it does, which is helpful in its own right, among with other things. I did Gaius/Tharja as well and got myself a sweet little Noire (Vengence + Lethality. Ooh boy.) so I agree with that one. Aww, you already used Donnel... that's a pretty good choice right there, but I personally enjoyed giving Owain Miracle and Apititude, then letting him get Astra. XD For Lissa, my choice would be Vaike, personally: Barbarian!Vaike can give Owain Despoil if you find yourself running out of gold often, and Lissa can give him Miracle for his Luck stat. Yeah, Panne and Gregor seems perfectly fine. You may want Lon'qu for Severa. A level 5 Swordmaster Lon'qu gives you Astra, and Astra is a beautiful, beautiful thing for Severa and her ridiculously broken Skill stat. I'd use Ricken for Miriel. Utterly magic broken Laurent. Actually, Sumia's magic stat tends to get screwed on her level-up, so you may want to have her as a Falcon Knight instead of a Dark Flier and give her Frederick. Henry does make a good Brady, especially if you turn Henry into a Dark Knight and pass Lifetaker to Brady. That skill is amazing.
  15. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who does this enough to where I'd HAVE to make my levelsupport grinding more interesting. On Normal mode that is. Level grinding comes pretty naturally to me, I do it in almost every game I play, even when I don't need to. And Awakening gives me extra incentive to do so with its support conversations. What can I say? I gotta support 'em all! [/cue Pokemon theme music] So while I've been cracking Risen skulls, I thought of some really interesting ways to support/level grind and wondered if anyone else had little grinding quirks they use to spice things up. Alright, here goes. Family Fun Time (At The Arena!) When: You really should do this after chapter 13 once you have some of the children. Where: Anywhere, really, but I prefer Arena Ferox. Who: Family units only. This means husband, wife, child(ren), so you'll have about 1-3 groups, depending on the map. If you have any leftover spots, leave them open. The Exalt's Family Tree When: After chapter 13. You also need Paralogue 5, and depending on who Chrom married, Paralogue 1 (Morgan), 6 (Inigo), 7 (Brady), 8 (Kjelle), or 9 (Cynthia) at the least. For an extra bit of family fun, Paralogue 20 is a must-have. Where: The Mila Tree. There's a reason for the exclusiveness, just watch~ Who: Chrom, his wife (Sumia, Sully, Maribelle, Olivia or Fem!Avatar), Lucina, his second child (Cynthia, Kjelle, Brady, Inigo or Morgan), Lissa, her husband, and Owain. For even more family fun, throw in the children's significant others. To add the cherry to the cake, bring along Emmeryn. Leave open any leftover spots, then kick back and watch one of gaming's most badass families go to town. Very satisfying. Even better if you can complete chapter 16 with this lineup. [/squee] Bromance At The Beach/Sisterhood of the Travelling Sands When: Any time. Well, maybe after chapter 8, when you actually have a beach-like area. Where: Border Sands, Port Ferox, Valm Harbor - any chapter with sand and water, really. For the icing on the bromantic cake, Summer of Bonds. :D Who: Leave your ladies at home for this one. Males only! You may want to check the support log ahead of time so you know who to pair for maximum support get. The alternate version of this, of course, is females only. Star Pegasus 64 When: You can start after chapter 7, but for maximum people I recommend waiting until after chapter 12. Where: Anywhere. Although you may wanna avoid maps with a lot of bowmen/mages. Border Sands and the Midmire are perfect for this. Who: Flying units only. So that's your Pegasus Knights, Falcon Knights, Dark Fliers, Griffon Riders, Wyvern Riders and Wyvern Lords. You CAN bring them a companion if you have enough space, but you can ONLY use that companion to dispatch a bowman/mage. Once they're done, switch back. For added challenge, don't. It's Getting Hot In Here When: The first applicable stage is in chapter 1, so any time after that, really. Where: Fire/lava based stages. Good examples are West of Ylisstol and Demon's Ingle, but you can use desert stages as well. Who: Tome-users only (that's Mages, Dark Mages, Sorcerers, Dark Knights, Sages, Valkyries, Dark Fliers, Tacticians and Grandmasters) and all tome-users must be equipped with a tome in the Fire family. Adding more fuel to the fire, basically. ^_^ Holy Hell When: You're going to want to wait until after chapter 9 at the very, very least. For maximum members, paralogue 7. Where: The Mila Shrine Ruins, The Mila Tree, The Dragon's Table, Divine Dragon Grounds, Sage's Hamlet. All perfect locations. Who: Come all ye men and women of the cloth. This means: clerics, war clerics, priests, war monks, sages, troubadours and valkyries. I'm not going to say no to an expansion to all staff wielders, although having a trickster at a shrine is interesting to say the least. :) That's actually a lot. Wow. I think I need to play the actual story some more instead, ha! So tell me, Emblemers, how do you make your grinding more interesting? And if you want, try some of these out and tell me what you think. <3, Vashi~!
  16. Support Grinding. I love the support conversations in this game and I want as many as I can get, so granted: I've been doing a LOT of SG'ing. It also makes my little Mass Effecters (Shepherds) totally boss, so no complaints there!
  17. The best two examples of this are her supports with Lon'qu and Gregor. Gregor because it isn't even MENTIONED, and Lon'qu because it's not mentioned until the very, very end, and even then she says, "I USED to love him, but now I've fallen for you." And that's what I do. I usually have her fight with some other person, so when she says that line, it feels like she's talking about her husband and not Chrom.
  18. Admittingly, I have a LOT of people like this because I grind the hell out of those Risen encounters (mostly for supports, but, ah, the experience is a GREAT plus). Right now I'm on chapter 11, and my Avatar Silvia is Batman'ing up with her Thunder tomes. She's a Tacitian/Dark Mage/Dark Knight, because I'm aiming for Lifetaker, then I'm going to scale back to Sorcerer and nab Vengence before revisiting the Tacitian class and becoming a Grandmaster. Add in Great Knight!Chrom, and I'm practically foaming at the mouth for the ultimate powerhouse that shall be my Morgan. Haaaaaahh. Everything will dieee.
  19. I'll admit, this game did a great job with its characterization. I don't think there's a single character I HATE. Sure, there's some that I prefer less than others, but most of the characters are very well-crafted and layered, making them feel more human - like they're real. Which the story-teller in me adores. It's fun making my own situations with these characters, imagining their support conversations as they grow. I haven't gotten bored of it yet, and I don't think I will. Needless to say, it deeply saddens me that some characters who deserve so much more love are hated. Like Stahl. Normally, I like characters with a gimmick, a quirk - it makes them stand out. But Stahl doesn't have that... because he didn't need it. He's a great guy - he's sweet, charming, absolutely adorable and has probably the biggest heart of gold out of anyone. I love him to pieces, despite the fact that he's not a powerhouse unit, but I still keep him around, simply because. Donny too. His accent is endearing, the way he strives to help whomever needs it is inspiring, and he IS a powerhouse unit. It was funny, watching my game progress, because at first I had Lissa babysit him to keep him alive and now HE'S babysitting HER. (My Lissa's a war cleric, BTW.) And Kellam! He is the ultimate butt monkey of the game, and I feel so bad for him because of that! And he's a really sweet guy as well - watch his supports with Olivia! That's just adorable. And, just so that way my three favorite boys aren't ever alone, I grinded for a three-way A support between Kellam, Donny and Stahl. And I will do that for every playthrough from now on, because those three have one of the BEST friendships in the entire game. They're always looking out for each other, it's just... ALL MY FEELS. Now onto the ladies. Maribelle. Every single support conversation I get with her makes me love her even more. At first, I was seriously put off, thinking she was just another snobby girl. But then, the game went out of its way to prove me wrong. Her supports with Gaius, Libra, even Chrom's... just killed me. She is truly a sweet girl underneath all of that. And I cannot understand why people hate her. I can't do it. Even if that archetype annoyed me, I still don't think I could hate her. I've seen plenty of attempts to make a spoiled rich girl with a good heart... this is one of the very best. They pulled it off flawlessly. Another girl who gets a lot of flak that she doesn't deserve is Cordelia. Unrequited love sucks, yes, but she DOES get over him is you pair her, and some of her supports are absolutely amazing. Hers and Lon'qu's for example, or her and Male!Avatar's. And if you want one that DOESN'T mention Chrom and is freaking adorable to boot, Gregor. I got that support on a whim and fell in love. She's a smart, talented girl broken by the loss of her "family" and the feelings she has for a man who will never return them. Don't worry, Cordelia. I'm writing you a support set with Chrom. S included. Olivia seems like an odd paradox. A dancer is revealing clothes whose embarassed to be seen? Um, what? But imagine if she were confident and self-assured. It would be basically every other dancer-esque character in existence... and that would be boring. Gods, Cherche. A sweet girl with a domestic side and a easy-going smile... and a wit sharper than wyvern's teeth (do they have teeth? assuming they do). How she manages to be the most terrifying person in the army still astounds me considering who ELSE is/can be in said army. She's a beautiful woman and a very powerful unit, so I rarely if EVER bench her. Honorable mention goes to Virion. At first, Virion annoyed the living hell out of me. I mean, good unit - it's always nice to have an archer or two, but personality-wise I didn't care for him. THEN I got his C-A supports with the Avatar. Virion is far from an airheaded, overconfident noble and my love for this game grew IMMENSELY because of this. His play style in their games is actually a lot like mine - I'll tank through the game and not stop until I won, no matter how many units I lose. In fact, playing Fire Emblem made me alter my playstyle entirely. I don't play chess the same after this! So yeah. My love for Viri is more of a meta level, but still. Now for the other side of the scale, although really I don't HATE any of the characters. There's just some I like less. Sigh. Tharja. I originally liked her, because that archetype appeals to me. But then... then the game gave me Noire. And Noire's backstory. And I just... I couldn't do it anymore. Especially since in Noire's C support with the Fem!Avatar, she outright states that she wishes Tharja wasn't her mother. Gods, that just... that killed any respect I had for her. Now, don't get me wrong - I really do like Lucina. I do! It's just I wish she wasn't SUCH a downer. I mean, here I am enjoying my first ever voyage and she launches into a tale about how they aren't any boats in her past, that time will always find a way to murder her father and that he was originally killed by his best friend. I stared at my screen for a few moment in disbelief, like, "Seriously? Stop making me feel bad, damn!" I know she comes from a terrible timeline, but I really wish she'd stop talking about it. For just a bit. I really wish they hadn't shoved Sumia's archetype down our throats every five seconds. I'm afraid her daughter Cynthia got the better personality out of the two - while Cyn can easily come off as annoying, at least she has SOME confidence in herself and her abilities and wants to be a hero. Fortunately, her support with Frederick redeems her for being adorable (and makes Frederick even MORE awesome for having the patience to put up with her antics. I love you, Freddy.) How the bloody hell is Walhart more popular than Gangrel? HOW? That emotionless rock lobster dastard needs to be boiled with a side of damn butter in my opinion. I'll confess. I tried to like Gerome. But I just... can't. The entire "lone wolf" thing is so overdone - it's just an excuse to act like an anti-social ass sometimes. And the mask thing is overdone as well. As a member of the Teen Titans/Young Justice fandom, do you know how many times I've seen this trope used? His character type is very cliche, and considering that he's the son of one of my favorites, I was sorely disappointed. Was. My headcanon started shipping him with Inigo. In other un-related news, I write too damn much.
  20. I'd hide it inside of a cane and take it with me when I go places, so just in case I ever get into a sticky situation I always have a weapon. Who says you can't bring swords to gun fights? :D
  21. [/giggles] This is cute! Is this a whole series or something?
  22. Orly? Um... I'm a bit of a noob to some of these terms, but what exactly is a Leonardo? I rarely stumble upon seeds, so for supports I usually nab a Reeking box, pick one of the first ten chapters and hack away.
