  1. I was more referring to When they are literally the same thing except one has Galeforce (and War Monk, I guess) and the other doesn't. >_>
  2. Hey, guess what? That's perfectly fine. What you do and what you prefer on your files is your own business. You know what's not fine? Telling people that pairings are bad because you don't like them. It's both petty and it's incredibly disingenuous.
  3. Nah, Stahl!Gerome's good at the physical hard-support schtick. If you prefer that, just stick him in a class that you like that has decent pair-up bonuses and glue him to Kjelle's ass. (Just because Kjelle's the least magically-oriented of the females.)
  4. Eh, Gerome can pretty much go two ways: abuse Vantage with Sage or straight-up hard support. I prefer the former, but YMMV. If you don't care for that, just make him a Paladin/Assassin/whatever and pair him with Kjelle in one of her many physical classes. I mean, Henry!Owain, Libra!Inigo, Gregor!Laurent, and to some extent Lon'qu!Brady and Lon'qu!Brady!Morgan are all pretty much asking for magic partners, so... Duck complains about magic Inigo. A lot.
  5. My preference is -DEF, but YMMV. In-game, abuse Nosferatu to your heart's content. Post-game, Sage is pretty much strictly better. This is how I'd pair them, at least: FeMU (Sage) x Lon'qu!Brady (Sage) Sumia!Lucina (Sage) x Lon'qu!Brady!Morgan (Sage) Henry!Owain (Sage) x Donnel!Kjelle (Valkyrie/Dark Flier) Libra!Inigo (Sage) x Chrom!Cynthia (Sage) Gregor!Laurent (Sage) x Ricken!Severa (Sage) Stahl!Gerome (Sage) x Gaius!Noire (Dark Flier) Vaike!Nah (Manakete) x Frederick!Yarne (Berserker) (Don't even bother bringing this pair to Apotheosis.) Cynthia, Kjelle, and Severa can pretty much be interchanged freely. You could also probably just drop Gerome and Kjelle as well.
  6. The reason why Luna and Aether is recommended is because while only one can proc at any time, their effects are synergistic. Either Aether (which is literally a stronger Luna) procs, or a normal Luna procs. A second, reliable proc is well-worth the skillslot, since it increases the chance that something procs during any combat round, and if Aether fails to do massive damage, you still have the opportunity to do additional damage. Luna+Ignis follows a similar principle. Luna+Sol is poor because the effects are non-synergistic: as opposed to damage+damage, you're doing damage+recovery; in certain cases where additional damage is prioritized (Apo), Sol's just going to be an interference.
  7. Then don't put it as an option? I mean, it is your playthrough. (If there were a Valkyrie option I'd go for it, personally.)
  8. the point isn't that they don't stack, the point is that proccing something is a heck of a lot better than proccing nothing. Assassins have a high SKL cap, so you should take advantage of it; with Luna and Ignis active, very few attacks are going to not proc either, and their effects are synergistic in that they both result in raised damage. I say go for Galeforce/Luna/Ignis/Bowfaire/Filler. It might be worth giving up Swordfaire, focus exclusively on bows, and picking something else out that will raise damage, but it's your call.
  9. Gaius is great for Cynthia (Vantage, mods) but bad for the team composition (-1 Galeforce). Though, I'd submit that I think Chrom giving her Luna+Aether is comparable.
  10. ...I just assumed people did that pairing to make themselves feel better about pairing Nowi with anyone. Because pairing the 1000 year old with the barely-pubescent totally doesn't have unfortunate implications. It wastes Tomefaire, hurts her Strength (which Manaketes run off of), and Nah doesn't give a damn about Archer. Still has Great Knight I guess.
  11. Considering the amount of waifu-ism/hasubando-ism out there for this game, probably is a bit of an understatement.
  12. I mean, he'll still be smashing through enemies with Tomefaire/Luna/Aggressor/Galeforce. Low-class selection hurt him a lot less than shitty mods. I suppose that's true, but my thoughts with Ricken!Gerome+Virion!Nah is that the former hurts Gerome's STR, which is his main appeal, while also not really contributing much since Gerome has base Tomefaire. He'll get Bowfaire regardless whether he gets Virion or Ricken, so it's not really that much worse than 'optimal' Geromes, but eh, he's already hard support. The only way he can suck worse is if he doesn't get any faires. ...Maybe Libra!Gerome, Lon'qu/Ricken!Nah, and Virion!Laurent?
  13. The only problem I have with it is that Maribelle/Ricken is perfectly usable and has maximal mods. Though, I'll concede Stahl!Brady isn't at all far off from Lon'qu!Brady besides meh-er mods. Maybe Ricken!Gerome? And I still say that Virion!Nah is so absurdly bad that it deserves a spot on the list. Though if we forfeit Cynthia (which I don't really think should happen, because to be fair then the best configuration is Maiden!Lucina + none of the other kids being born) then I'd think to do Stahl!Kjelle and Frederick!Brady instead. ...Goddamn it Brady, stop being fuckup-proof. Although, I'd say that this exercise's premise is kinda flawed considering up to Hard and probably Lunatic you can get by with first-gen, and the only pairing that matters in higher difficulties is Chrom/FeMU, which is ridiculously easy to get. Optimal pairings only really serve to make Apotheosis easier, or doable with certain limitations.
  14. Probably something like Chrom/Sully Frederick/Sumia Gregor/Olivia Vaike/Lissa Donnel/Cordelia Stahl/Maribelle (Frederick/Maribelle is worse, but Sumia has limited options. It's still not a terrible Brady.) Henry/Panne Virion/Nowi Kellam/Tharja Libra/Miriel Gaius/Cherche? I guess? That's the best I can do.
  15. Are pretty much fine. Ricken!Noire!Morgan's fine too, though I'd say if you're going that route it might be better to go for Ricken!Laurent!Morgan since the latter has Aggressor and can marry Lucina. If you're not using Donnel, I'd say swap Vaike for Donnel. Galeforce utility and whatnot. Gerome's generally relegated to hard support, so if you take my above suggestion, relegating Vaike here might be a decent option. Gaius!Yarne's kind of a waste of Galeforce, but it's alright I guess. Chucking Gaius onto Kjelle or Noire and giving Yarne whatever leftovers left would probably be better.
  16. Pretty much. It'd make Nah a heck of a lot less useless (becomes Laurent minus Aggressor plus Troubadour), Brady and Cynthia could finally get VV, you could probably get a pretty comical hybrid Gerome who switches between Axefaire Berserker and VV Sage, and he wouldn't be at all terrible on Yarne, Severa, Noire and Laurent. Henry!Owain/Inigo are the same as usual. Thinking about it, I think a Henry with Myrmidon would probably be even better than Stahl.
  17. ...This is kind of a random thought I had, but Henry would literally go from being one of the worst parents in the game to one of the best if he had Myrmidon instead of Thief.
  18. Vantage seems nigh-useless on a bow-user, and it's situational in one-range.
