  1. My IRL friends do. One even said that if she could not marry Leon and do match making she would not buy the game. I mean, they found the explanation stupid, but I did not hear any "I would've rather not have them". Regarding the topic at hands, I have to think about it. I want to write something, but it will probably pretty long and convoluted.
  2. Fire Emblem Memez Part 2: Unleash the Memez
  3. Hey, my IRL friends, who are not into FE as much as me and don't check FE communities, they also are not into Phoenix mode and said they'd rather play Conquest on Casual. Yep, I guess some newcomers and/or casuals are embarassed of using Phoenix mode. I think this could be an interesting topic, albeit for another thread. One issue I have with Awakening is that, even if casual friendly, it doesn't really teach you how to play it, and trust me I saw a lot of newcomers who had no idea of what they were doing. I wonder if Fates did better in that regard. Heck, I wonder if FE knows how to teach newcomers how to play itself.
  4. This is only partially related, but I dislike Cynthia as Chrom's daughter because she can't recognize her dad! Why would she think she is the daughter of an ugly boss? That's so terrible for being the most canon choice... Plus I like Cynthia and while she is not very brilliant, I'd expect her to at least know that guy is definitely not her dad. Maybe she does not remember exactly how he looks but... Cynthia if she was your dad you'd at least have a bigger nose! At least she fits the convo. But for me, Inigo is the most fitting. Because you can just SEE him being afraid of bugs, lol. And the cool bit at the end is very appropriate too. Really, the only downside to Chrom/Olivia for me is how they marry in-game. Even their logbook S support is the cutest of all S supports for Chrom, imo. I guess the other downside would be a no-grind run, but in those it's either Sumia or Sully. And if you're FRobin, simply marry him yourself, lol. Easily the most OP pairing in the game.
  5. I miss: - First tier bow users on horseback. Hoshido just missed an opportunity here. - On-foot healers for Nohr. And no, not fetish maids and butlers, I want my power nuns back. I loved miko and monks, and their promotions even more, but I would've liked a Nohrian counterpart for them too. -Not enough classes in Hoshido use clubs, or so I felt that. Maybe it's because I did not use Rinkah, but not having more than two units starting as an oni savage is pretty sad (FYI I don't like Rinkah). -WHY IS THE ONLY MALE DIVINER A BRAT! Their outfit is so sexy! This is a wasted opportunity. Ok this is what I miss: I miss handsome/cute/attractive male adult/young adult mages. The days of Pent are long gone. -I miss good-looking Great Knights. Their new armor design, while better than Awakening, is still ass. -I miss proper manakete. Beaststones are really bad so far.
  6. Nah Sully is not a bad mom for Lucina, but my favorite will always be Olivia because I love Inigo with blue hair and sol/rightful king :P Plus I can't bring myself to not put Stahl and Sully together. Those two have the best chemestry in the whole game, for me.
  7. @blah However, Gallians love Skrimir and act similar to him, aaand in PoR Lethe is shown to be very racist. Beasts are also used to explain the hatred brandeds get from Laguz: Mordecai growled at Soren for what seemed no apparent reason, and Soren got hurt and mistreated by beasts when he ended up in Gallia. I'm not saying Beasts are not shown in a bad light like Begnion, just that they are the Laguz used to show racism, idiocy, and instict.
  8. Actually, the only Laguz I feel are criticized are the Dragons (for doing nothing) and the Beasts (for being savage and attacking without thought, and for being the most openly racist. It's Skrimir's character arc IIRC). And then bird laguz had their own problems but I don't remember them so those are probably not prominent enough. I agree on Heron though. They are literally perfect peaceful and beautiful creatures. Their only issue is not being good at war and fighting, and the game does not make a huge problem out of it iirc.
  9. Kaga is a passionate guy when it comes to SRPG. I wouldn't be surprised if he did this out of passion. I also believe Fire Emblem's rise to popularity made him want to work on the style of game he created again.
  10. Oh, I did not know/remember that. That makes it less creepy.
  11. I'm not sure if you can be sued for stylistically similar character designs; besides, the supposed character designer did work on FE5. It would be a dick move, but I doubt they'll care about this game being literally Fire Emblem, I'm sure they won't do a thing. Retro FE has few relevance in the market. Besides, if they did care, they'd have to take down srpg maker too, since that is also "Fire Emblem except not".
  12. I have so many things to say on this matter, but I'll reserve them for when I'll finish all the routes. Now, for what I can surely say so far on Birthright: Awakening, overall, seems better. Why? Because Birthright tries so hard to be like Awakening. It loses its own identity only to simply become Awakening 2.0, when, for me, it should've been its own thing. But no: here is eugenics again (when it shouldn't have been there), many little details to make it more like Awakening, the dlc follows the Awakening format, and sadly it doesn't even have all the nods and fanservice for older fans Awakening had. I also preferred Awakening' story. It was a turd, for me, but at least it was a turd that made me laugh. I am going to sound mean now but Chrom giving Validar the Emblem was amazing, it was too funny. Birthright' story felt boring, very pretentious, filled with useless filler, had very short and uninteresting dialogue... I found it irredeemable, plain garbage (only one scene was unintentionally funny!). And I went full in thinking "It can't be worse than 3-routes-in-1". But no, it was so bad it was unsatisfying to finish it. The terrible endgame maps did not help at all. I already saw Nohr's plot on a Let's Play and before you ask me... Yes, I found it better than Birthright's. Now: do I prefer Awakening or Birthright's characters? While I generally found the Birthright cast to be all likable, I think Awakening had better, longer and more memorable supports hidden in the huge pile of pies and wacky shenanigans it has. Birthright... I enjoyed some romances a lot but sometimes I couldn't be arsed to read a support so I just skipped with start at the third like of dialogue or something. So... Yeah. Maybe all I need is to play Birthright more, but for some reasons I feel no intention of doing so. Awakening, I think I started a new pt after finishing it just to get a better grasp of eugenics (mind this I disliked it much more back then after reading the story). By no means these games have totally bad gameplay... Honest. They both can be fun albeit on the easy side. They have similar if not the same flaws. But Awakening... Awakening, you all know I love/hate it and I expressed my distaste for it clearly without trying to not cause trouble (and I can still express it!). But Awakening had a soul. Awakening was itself. Awakening wanted to be a swansong. Awakening was mindless fun. Yeah the gameplay can be such crap in map design, it's basically another powerleveling SRPG, and it has fucking Nowi and Ricken, and the story gives me diabetes and insulted my (albeit low) intelligence. Birthright wants to be Awakening again without Nintendo breathing on Intelligent System's neck telling them FE will die. You can't do that.
  13. Except Femui is still very popular. A lot of Fates fanart is Femui x Royals. So is it a rabid fanbase or simply Japan loving main characters? And these threads will end up being echo chambers regardless of anything. Unpopular and controversial opinions can be shared by a lot of people, but these people will always be a relatively small group compared to the one that thinks the opposite and much more popular opinion. I guess it's a way to circlejerk but it's fun to see you are not the only one who likes the black sheep of the fandom or one of the few who dislikes the top dog.
  14. Not to mention the *depiction* of violence in FE most of the is not shocking at all; it's less violent than popular children/teens media like Dragon Ball. The most violent and morbid events are only described through text and never, ever shown (child hunts, Izuka's experiments, etc). The only times the violence gets more realistic or shocking it's to send a message or make a point(war is bad, monsters are evil, yadda yadda). Like when in Sacred Stones some innocent villagers can be killed by Giant Spiders, or Ranulf getting beaten to a pulp by beorcs. It's how you present it that matters.
  15. I'd say it's niche to think Corn is the worst. Female Corn ranked first on the female popularity poll in Japan. Both Corns get a lot of fanart, too, especially Female Corn. It might be a normal opinion on Serenes but those piles of fanart and fanfictipn show Corn is liked, at least as a self-insert.
  16. Free digital download. The main website(of Serenes Forest) has now an article explaining yhe trailer better for people who don't know Japanese!
  17. Why would a bard use a whip to refresh units? Kaga... Are you into BDSM???0_o
  18. -Birthright's plot is worse than Awakening's. It's utter trash. Offensively boring, offensively bland, etc. -Conquest's plot is dumb but at least it tries to bring new things to the table. Also some things are so bad they end up being entertaining. -Corn is the worst lord in Fire Emblem history. -I like Azama. -I like Peri. -I don't like how Niles is perceived as gay in the fandom. He is bisexual! -My castle is fun at first, but then it becomes tedious. -FE should crossover with Sengoku BASARA, not Musou/Warriors. Because map gimmicks that's why. Also it could have a rad opening where Sigurd and Alvis battle in Fanta. -Cellica's DLC artwork is bad an does not represent her well. -Kozaki is absolutely the worst and least fitting artist in the series. He is excellent for Suda51 and modern/futuristic settings, but not FE, not fantasy. Well, too bad for me since now every new FE will be drawn by him. -My dream artist for FE would be Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. More a confession than an unpopular opinion. -Fates should have tried to be itself, not an expanded Awakening.
  19. I see absolutely no Rome in Krakenburg. The two walls are there to make it resemble a moon. Rome is sunny and open, Krakenburg is dark and enclosed. Otherwise, it was a nice video. I still am not fond of the mindless mishmash of ancient European cultures they did, but eh. Meanwhile Hoshido is literally Japan... Hmmm Uh, after that name analysis, I wonder about Garon's name. My sister said that in her opinion, the name "Garon" comes from "Garum", a popular fish sauce from the Roman Empire (I'm pretty sure she is not serious...). Now I googled the meaning, and apparently it's an Irish name that means CASTRATED HORSE, but another source says it's a french name that means guardian, protector. And I got the wiki page for Garum on the results. Wow.
  20. Here is one of Fates' huge problems: there is no qt male diviner Yukimura expy. Embarassing, what a waste of titties.

  21. I don't like a lot of Corn ships myself, if not all. They have bad chemistry with a lot of characters. I was lucky I found her support with Azama, the unit I married, okay, and a good base for a better support for a better, naive character, but overall it's a lot of boring supports with a boring character. There have been Robin supports I loved like Robin/Gregor and Robin/Olivia, but all Corn supports I've read were bad or utterly mediocre, boring. Maybe Kaze was the best one, but I haven't seen their S support. Maybe it's simply because I really dislike Corn. My least favorite Corns are probably Corn/Niles (both Corns) (as other said it's exposition and then romance; plus for me Arthur/Niles is much better), Corn/Royal (especially the brothers), and maybe Corn/Jakob. So far I only really done in-game Birthright pairs. I have been content and surprised by a lot of my bland choices (Retainer/Retainer, everyone!), and I was satisfied by their romance a lot, buuut... Azura/Takumi has such a bad S support. So much for the nice conversation and healing him multiple times. Setsuna/Anybody all seem so unromantic. Funny, but there is no chemistry. I put her with Kaze and the S support was just weird. But, anyway, since we are talking overrated: Benny/Beruka goes nowhere. Leo/Takumi I don't like because those guys to me seem very much into women (Leo unconciously lusting for Camilla, Takumi it's an impression he gives me and I can't pinpoint it easily-- I guess it's the nightmares about his mother's death, they give me the feeling he needs a wife close to him that can reassure him). Laslow/Peri is cheesy and as much as I like her who would let Peri reproduce. Soleil/Ophelia seems too one sided sadly. They get a lot of cute art though. Hayato/Sakura was not very romantic, but at least Shara is pretty good. Ryoma/Kagero was boring. Is this a popular pair? Shiro rocks though. Jakob/Felicia was not romantic at all. Orochi/Hayato, I really dislike this one. I hate shotacon and she deserves better than Dicken 2.0. I also don't see a lot of Takumi/Oboro around. It's an okay couple but I prefer Oboro/Hinata. At first I wanted her with Takumi but then her supports with Hinata sealed the deal for me. It was very sweet and it did not feel like settling for me, just loving somebody for their imperfections.
  22. Does it? The only explicit incest we see is in FE4, then we have Lachesis' obsession with her brother, Ares being her son in a beta version of the game, and the character she spawned, Priscilla, who also is obsessed with her brother, but thankfully it amounts to nothing. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Lachesis, or how Lakche, who is her mother with short hair (looks wise), can marry her uncle(brother of her mother) and get a conversation too. Yikes. Anyway, for me, I'd say no. The only game with actual incest and not just speculation (like Eirika x Ephraim), is FE4, and Jugdral is very gritty and tries to take inspiration from history. It has patricide, abusive and manipulative royal families, child hunts, children being put to fight eachother to death to please an evil god, bad parenting, men IN YOUR ARMY who sleep around and have multiple children with different women... basically, it only belongs in the dark world of Jugdral. The other istances of incest in other FE games is either cousins (which is a moot point in Japan, it's legal and not weird over there), fanservice for people who are not related in any way to the characters (the players) and people taking things too far.
  23. That's because it's from Kaga (he made FE after all) and because the artist is the same from Thracia 776 and TearRing Saga. I personally like the artstyle very much, except maybe some girls who look too moe for my taste. And yes, I believe these are all the final assets for portraits. EDIT: I've seen this video has been posted on the TRS forum before my thread. If mods want, you can delete this thread.
