  1. I'm super friggin' hyped for this game and the lore it will bring. Already from just the demo we have seen many eerie and cool details in the lab stage. The gameplay looks fun and the characters are amazing, pure Nintendo madness. Ninjara so far is my favorite (cuzz he is hawt!!1!1 and cool), but I also like Spring Man and Ribbon Girl. I hope it will have at least the same amount of single player content as Punch-Out!! on the Wii.
  2. I doubt Nintendo is not checking the project. I expect this game to be in the same vein of HW in terms of content and characters (maybe a bit less characters). I'm cautious with this game. I'm not really a fan of Warriors, and I expect only Ike, Roy and maybe Lyn to be the only characters from the older games that are not from Marth's games. Still count me in to be bummed with all of you if you guys receive lackluster content. I think Masamune and Severa should meet.
  3. Hey now, let's not confuse romance aspects with "otaku pandering". Romance is part of life and part of our growth, it only makes sense if in games like Zelda, which always deals with growth, there are slight elements of it. You can't really compare Malon and Zelda to anything Fates did. Fates goes full on force with the romance mechanics: you can pet your virtual husband, have virtual children and what not. Very far from rooting for which girl will go with Link (which, by the way, is a thing I've mostly seen GIRLS doing instead of dudes).
  4. Multiple story changing decisions, along with different routes. No, Fates does not count, way too many reused maps and both routes share too many gimmicks (a boat chapter, a beast chapter, etc). Not to mention there is only one story changing decision.
  5. WTF I always called it "Blazing Swords" all this time because it had three lord. My years since Awakening's release have been a lie...
  6. Adding children and writing more supports for S supports feels like a waste of resources. This game does not need these features IMO. I openly welcome a casual mode and a streamlining of the game, though.
  7. As if they are going to cut out some of Akaneia's most popular characters. Everybody in Japan has the hots for the White Wings, and Camus/Zeke/Sirius is immensely popular for being OP.
  8. Those are not Kozaki's designs though. They're Akihiko Yoshida's, from Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which is known for being dark and realistic. (Yes the drawings are Kozaki's) The fact is, the FE designs Kozaki drew do have design quirks he uses, such as Lucina's gloves or Emmeryn's halo, so of course he had an influence on the outfit designs in a way or another. I believe most of Camilla is his work because her outfit differs greatly from Kusakihara's Malignknight design. I believe he also designed some of the more relevant characters, like Chrom, Elise, etc, that differ from the class design mold. He also drew Nowi's outfit as seen from an interview from a Reddit AMA where he, after being asked why he dressed her up like that, he said that he just drew an outfit fitting for her character. Not to mention, look at this design by Kozaki for a mobage, completely unrelated to Fire Emblem: It is filled with quirks and details featured in a lot of Fates and Awakening designs. It possibly can't be just Kusakihara's work (and the armor designer's work).
  9. Azama is not an asshole to everyone either (even if less than Jakob), Jakob has shown to be one of the most abusive parents of the 3DS games (and he is petty with his son to the point of being silly), and Niles and Peri have both the same amount of backstory and depth. If Niles looked ugly and was not romanceable by the Male Avatar, he would be getting much more hate than he does. I'm not saying people should not dislike Peri and Azama (I can see why they would), but that it's silly how if they do they do not dislike also Jakob and Niles. Niles especially gets praised for being such a deep character when he is simply on par with other Nohrians (they usually have a rather detailed backstory for a FE character with some dark quirk thrown in), so honestly not that different in depth from Peri. I'd say Niles might even be worse than her because he understands that what he does is wrong and twisted, and that excites him (and very possibly sexually), while Peri is unaware that her actions are wrong. I'm just tired of seeing a character like Peri be brought down all the time when Henry and Niles are on the same boat, in the end, but they are among the most popular guys in their respective games. Not to mention all the defense I've seen for Niles and Henry being different from Peri did not really hold a candle in the end. I don't hate Jakob, I think he is ok, but as I said before he has a petty rivalry with his son and is rather abusive towards him, being too harsh and jealous that he might surpass him as a butler. Also if Corrin is his mother it just becomes worse, really.
  10. He is right though. Not trying to be a martyr here because I also dislike characters for petty reasons, but there are a lot of double standards for Fates' characters. Jakob VS Azama comes to mind, and the Niles VS Peri debacle. Niles is not even that good as a character, he is very much like somebody out of a trashy yaoi manga, but since he hits all the right spots for his demographic, nobody can hate him for being a sadist and somebody who probably pops a boner when killing people, because he is handsome and charismatic.
  11. The fact you can have a mini dating sim and families in the games probably helped, especially between girls, but there are also many other factors that made Fates and Awakening sell, like the streamlining, the personal experience, the accessibility and the well studied art direction, so I am going to choose "Probably not". The majority seems to think children were forced in Fates, too. Even my super casual friends who love the marriage and the match making side. So in the end, what I think might matter the most is how much of the game is accessible and how much has a wide appeal, and with that I want to add that a personal experience doesn't not necessarily need to have the Avatar or S supports (although I would like to see a future game where the avatar can make truly game changing choices).
  12. I would love to have Kimihiko Fujisaka as the next artist. For a quick reminder, he drew DLC Roy in Awakening. Here is a link to his tag on Zerochan: http://www.zerochan.net/Fujisaka+Kimihiko His work is modern and cool, and I love how he draws faces. He has the variety FE needs (meaning he can draw old people, cute girls and guys, monsters, etc). These are some of my favorite drawings from him: Yes, his art can be quite dark, but also brighter. I'd love it if he drew for a darker (but not too dark! A T at most!) Fire Emblem.
  13. Sengoku BASARA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Samurai Warriors Not that Musou is bad. It's just that BASARA is better IMO. Better characters, better stages, cool opening videos, better gameplay (especially from 3 onwards), better story (since it throws historical accuracy out of the window), it's simply better, for me. I guess it's unfair to compare something that does not click with me with something that is basically another game perfectly tailored for me, but... it stings when people do not even try the game and call it a bad Musou clone (when both series ripped off eachother too... but BASARA is the one that started I guess). The genre is similar and they fall into the same type of repetitive game, but playing them is just different. Yet the series that gets constant releases overseas is the one that I like the least. Why Capcom, why?! Seriously, even if Devil Kings is funny as hell, it marked THE death of the series overseas along with the terrible release of BASARA 3. They should've started releasing it with BASARA 2 and not have idiotically localized everything as a weird ass fantasy land with pyramids and Texans. Then they should also have tried to give it more marketing. If Musou has a fanbase outside of Japan, why not BASARA? Maybe it's too weird? I'd say it's on par with the DMC course. The series is probably not even expensive to make, seeing as it loves to reuse assets. Dammit, f u Capcom. You failed me again.
  14. There definitely is a divide in the fandom, but while in some places it is handled more maturely and thus almost feels unexistant (like Serenes, where we mostly have all differing opinions on all the games), in others it's the first thing that you will notice: 4chan, GameFaqs, YouTube comments, they're all cesspool communities (and I'd argue 4chan is the least worst); all these have a huge divide and always have arguments about New VS Old. I've seen both sides be terrible: fans of the older games will shit talk the new ones asap while also shitting on the new fans, fans of the newer games will do the same but with more waifu posting. While you might say it's useless to consider bad communities as part of the community, imo they still are. I read all FE communities when I want to. That said, I don't think there's anything wrong in presenting negative opinions, but one should always consider how to present them, and they especially should not attack the fans unless the discussion at hand is about the fans. If you can say something sucks balls you should at least back up your argument. The worst communities never back up their arguments, or if they do they always beat a dead horse.
  15. Yes, that archetype is called a SHITTY UNIT. In all seriousness though right now I cannot think of an unit like Gunther but I would not say he is bad at the beginning, especially with his skill. Anyway, all the units I dislike as characters are great in gameplay. Camilla and Corrin are pivotal if you do not want to suffer in Conquest. I also an not fond of Hinoka, Ryoma and probably even Kaze, but they're still all excellent and I soloed the Birthright endgame chapters with Ryoma lol. Thinking about it, I dislike Hayato a lot, but I heard he is good in Rev.
  16. There are wrong ways to show off skin, the ones that look aesthetically unpleasant. Cellica 2012's naked belly is just a plain stupid design quirk. It's like he looked at the Sage design and thought "How do I make this show skin?", and instead of taking an interesting route fitting for her role and character he just slapped a loli with a long robe and nothing underneath (like where is the bra?? Is she topless??). And off topic again, but Rex really looks like another JRPG protagonist, and countless people thought so. Curiously enough the red haired sword girl has a design vaguely reminiscent of his Cellica, but it still looks better than that one.
  17. 2012 Cellica looks like a little girl and shows off skin in the stupidest way, you have to wrap your head around her crappy outfit. 2017 Cellica looks like a proper lady either in her late teens or early twenties, and she shows skin with class and grace. Also to be fair the designs in Xenoblade 2 look generic as heck and it means pretty much nothing when the best this guy can design is scantly clad chicks, cat girls and absolutely generic shota shonen protagonists. He should stick to drawing porn. Anyway, I quite like both the new designs and the original ones. Cellica looks very cute in both versions. The Awakening ones were among my least favorite DLC designs: they both look too young. Alm looks clunky, Cellica looks like out of a random gacha fantasy mobage (WOW MUCH LIKE THE NEW XENOBLADE CHARACTERS).
  18. But neither Awakening/Kakusei and Cipher have a subtitle, and If/Fates has the Route subtitle which is still short. While I do agree "Echoes" is english made to sound cool in Japan I think they would've went with only one word like I said, without adding a subtitle. It might be to explain the title to Japanese players who do not understand english, but if we look at the If/Fates precedent, we might get more Echoes titles with a different subtitle.
  19. I have a theory that this game merges all three timelines, but I'm not sure of how it could even work!
  20. Polygon just wants to generate clicks from newer fans and make them shit their pants. Of course this game will have easier modes, not to mention grinding has always been a part of Gaiden. @DarkWind rest assured that Intelligent Systems will not ditch their newer fans away like that. They have to make profit and want a loyal fanbase.
  21. Some of us don't want the same mechanic to be reused for the fourth time in a row, kind of like children. It's a very unique and game changing mechanic, and having it so many times makes the older games that have an Avatar be less unique and makes Avatars themselves become more stale. As for myself, I also have other reasons: the Avatar, being the player character, will always be shoehorned in the story in a way or another, or be almost irrelevant. I don't want to play a self insert game in Fire Emblem but follow the stories of set, well defined characters. Simple as that. I do enjoy creating characters and I had many Avatars in Awakening (much less in Fates), but it loses a lot of charm after the first times (I created very few Avatars in Fates so far for example).
