  1. I. What? You must've just added me then, right? If so, thanks. I'm still a little bewildered how I got up there so fast. ._.

My NNID is................................. BBaller17? yeah, that's it. it's different from the one I use with my 3DS. because reasons. random complaint: I wish you could attach a Club Nintendo account to multiple Nintendo Network IDs. I'm losing out on so many Club Nintendo coins that I have nothing to do with as it is. QQ

EDIT: oop, hi there John. I'll add you and if it's laggy, then that's that. but we can try at least~

  2. I need someone to play with

    plzhalp

    PMs are fine

Ugh, I think I'm going to drop Robin. I just can't seem to play him at all. I don't get why he's ranked high on the tier list already either. His sword range is terrible if he isn't using the Levin Sword and his magic is so slow. In fact, Robin is just slow and weak in general, I find. He just feels unusable.

I'm no Robin expert but if you take advantage of the levin sword, it's great; he's also got multiple projectile attacks, including two that are capable of decent stuns, his throws aren't bad, he's got a great healing/damaging move, his recovery is solid, and his power is nothing to gawk at even if he's on the slower side.

oh yeah, my FC is... 3454 - 1429 - 6473 and my name ATM is "Ace". And I only like playing 1v1's with no items/omega stages and battlefield and smashville does that even exist anymore? only. so for a lot of people I'm not fun.

I can do "party matches" (less serious, items, more players, customs, etc.) but I'm not in the mood for that now, sowwy

EDIT: my skype is ballin1337 if anyone wants to communicate easier

  3. ...This hack is wildly superior to TLP in both story and character dialogue. TLP is really boring.

"in my opinion", said the Klok

not that I would really disagree with that opinion, but it's nice not to come off as arrogant and stuff because people besides you (e.g. General Seth) are entitled to their own opinions and if you can't respect that much, you should shut the fuck up

I'm sure Blazer knows it's not the greatest story in a hack ever.

at least I finished it yeah no it's pretty bad, I thought this has been established which is why I'm confused as to why people feel the need to talk about it. meh I should've lied and been like "wtf man TLP is the greatest dat plot twist at the end that I'm pretty sure I didn't even think of"

I bet it doesn't help that TLP started out as a forum's circle-jerk clusterfuck that they wanted to pass off as a hack.

pretty much this, TLP originally didn't have a story and I had to invent one at about Chapter 20, including retrospectively (because nothing really made sense). whereas EN is a story-focused hack with some gameplay gimmicks that isn't even complete yet and TLP's story-writing finished about 3 years ago and most of it was written (albeit revised) long before that (that is to say, I had to make-up a bullshit story out of dog shit when I was around 15-16 despite having no experience in such a thing and pass it off as playable).

sure I could have fixed the story by making the entire hack from scratch but then TLP would have literally never finished (see: every hack ever that takes forever to finish)

in other words, the circumstances are completely different it would be like comparing one of Shakespeare's works to a fanfiction or something, written in different times under different circumstances about different things with different intents. if a hack has a worse or better story than TLP, whatever, consider what the hack and hack creator are trying to do. I bet someone will come up with an even worse story (or at least in the opinion of the masses) than this and I certainly hope it isn't bashed because people expect everything to be on the highest-standard (I guess EN is the bar-setter in this case)

EDIT: not that I care about the rules but more on-topic:

Congrats on almost finishing EN! I hope there's something like a release trailer and maybe some other goodies like "a history of Elibian Nights" or something, the final release of such a long-standing hack should be pretty awesome.

  4. alright, gimme like 2 years to find my friend code

EDIT: 1564-4481-1322 (it's amazing how fast 2 years is when I force myself to not be lazy)

I have to go for a bit but I'll try to pay attention to this thread so we can eventually set up a match come on Nintendo, integrate a text chat system between friends on the 3DS at least

  5. I'm pretty satisfied with things how they are but can I remove Duck Hunt Dog PLEASE

I guess Roy from FE6 would be cool but they'd kinda be... what's the phrase, grasping at straws otherwise? I feel like extra assist trophies is kinda lame because it means you have to pay to use items, but playable characters like Wolf, Lucas, Ice Climbers, and Mewtwo would be great since they were already in previous games, can't think of anyone new who is really worthy to be in otherwise (not really an "all-stars" line-up if you pack it with too many extras without justification + making up custom movesets for all of them would be rough and we have enough clones as it is... oh right some people consider Wolf and Lucas clones too... /notmethough)

  6. If anyone is up for some matches of Japanese Super Smash Bros. for 3DS in the next couple of weeks, let me know. Too lazy to make accounts on other sites where I know people have Jap 3DS's like neogaf, lol. Otherwise I guess I'll just do randoms or whatever until the English version comes out and I actually have friends to play with.

  7. Yeah, the biggest motivation for me was getting the PS2 stuff we didn't get before (even if you can hardly hear the newly recorded Mystic Arte voices...). I haven't gotten to try DotNW but hopefully it's as you say and the HD is more apparent (though unless it's an actual visual overhaul, which it's not, it can only be so good--kind of the difference between a "HD Remaster" and an "HD Remake").

  8. tbh I don't really appreciate the HD visuals, they don't seem much better to me. In fact I can hardly tell. The game is also apparently $7.50 on PSN now for PS+ users, which for 2 games is a great freaking deal, so if anyone doesn't have it now's probably one of the best chances you'll ever get to get it.

also I don't really have anyone to play with, if only Tales of games had online co-op QQ

  9. It bothers me that it has some bugs (notably crashing) derived from insufficient playtesting, though. It might affect the series' future in the west.

This was my worry as well

I'm not going to hate it or anything but others might think poorly of XSEED or the series

If they were small and rare issues that'd be one thing but the game was almost unplayable with how frequent it was crashing

XSEED should be apologizing/damage controlling after this slip-up and not making excuses about QA or whatever--that's just the thing to do from a professional perspective, gamers just want it fixed ASAP, they mostly don't want to hear about how there's only one programmer or how the issues didn't show up in testing (which is kinda like "duh, if you saw them you'd have fixed them... Or a man can hope that much, at least)

  10. So, I am no hacking pro, just a persistent and lucky bastard.

but see doing what you did is something most people can't (or at least, don't know how to) do but is extremely useful

you might not be a 'pro' but in my eyes you're already better than most hackers because you can do things on your own and use basic logic/experimentation to figure things out instead of completely relying on others

We kind of associate 'pros' with people like Nintenlord/Xeld/Cam/whoever can do fancy stuff with ASM, but hacking started and improved with mostly people NOT well-versed in ASM (though they may have learned ASM later), i.e. I'm pretty sure SpyroDi/Pukachi, IcyToast, etc. didn't know ASM, and often times basic fundamental hacking skills can you get farther in the long-run (based on my own experiences with hacking Fire Emblem and many other games, so it's just an opinion)

sorry, just wanted to say I value those skills you have, even if they really are just persistence and luck :P
