  1. He kinda is, actually. This isn't a fap session for him, his duty is to the people who buy the game.

    >_> "fap session", harsh words lol

I respectfully disagree though, game developers aren't obligated to serve self-proclaimed "fans" of a game/series or anyone else. Likewise, those people aren't obligated to buy and play the game. Is it in his interests to try and please the fans? Yes, that's why he does it to the extent he does. But don't think that means it's okay to have the mentality of wanting, wanting, and wanting with no respect for the developer's own wishes, desires, knowledge, and health; he's not a slave. One of the many problems with sequels is expectations and I have no doubt said expectations have taken a significant toll on his health. There's such things as being fair and not being spoiled, some people simply forget to keep those in mind... or never had them in mind to start with. :\

A general comment, not directed towards you specifically. Sadly I'm lazy so I might not respond again, my apologies but I only really post on a whim to start with so I'm not good at discussions XP

  2. There's a reason the thread has it's name lmao

what a fitting name it is, most Smash "fans" tend to just nitpick and whine out of entitlement nowadays

also Sakurai is the guy who made KIU sooooo it kind of figures there'd be at least two characters from it and one or two assists

like let him have his fun, it's his game and he's got the right and power to put in who he wants and he's not obligated to serve us

also thank goodness there aren't even more stage variations between 3DS/Wii U, it should mostly be the same stages, it's annoying that it's so different as it is

not to mention reusing assets mean the game comes out quicker and it's less boring ass work for them, i'd rather not have the game delayed for another year, been waiting long enough

  3. Nooooo! Anything but the Vita!

Sorry, should have been more clear; I meant I need to find the time (and money) to buy a PS3 : P

just laying out your options for you! :P

Just kickstart a campaign for a PS3, I'll contribute *shot*

Can't really help with the time factor though, I think most of us have that issue, haha. I know I certainly do.

    strikethrough everything

  4. That totally came out of nowhere, but I'm not complaining : D

Seriously, I expected a much bigger "warning" beforehand. And at least 2 of us thought the game might not be out for a while, maybe we were just being too pessimistic due to all the delays and Tom or someone saying it wouldn't be out until summer though

I really need to buy a PS3 for Sen.

or a PS Vita, just do it, it's a blast. And Sen II will probably be even more amazing.

  5. Yup, I suggested this multiple times ages ago so naturally I'm a candidate. It should have happened like, last year, shortly after Awakening, because people who played FE13 might've picked up a Wii U to check out HD remakes of some of the older, really-hard-to-find-for-cheap FE games they never played, and it'd add to the list of RPGs the Wii U has (even if they were just ports). Sadly that timeframe is over but they could certainly still do it and have it be somewhat successful (if only to bide us until SMTxFE). It'd have to come out like, real soon though, and I don't see that happening unless they like, outsourced the HD port or something... >_>;

  6. Just a reminder that FEE3 submissions are due in about ten days.

For anybody submitting a playable demo for an LPer: Patch by August 1st.

For people submitting their own video content: All media by August 12th.

    Show dates: August 15th-17th.

Clarifying since the above only holds true for those submitting a playable demo for an LPer, according to the first post.

  7. oh man I remember things like these used to exist back in the day a LOT more, fun times

I remember I even did some animated GIFs of Fire Emblem sprite battles

man those took forever but they were kind of a blast anyhow

good times, thanks for the (probably unintended) slight nostalgia gift~

  8. yeah

    no

sorry I just can't get myself to support this

I wouldn't really complain if he was in but... it's kinda enough with 4 and I'd rather have Roy or someone who wouldn't be generic :\

Uh, I think Sakurai already thought about Chrom... Not to mention that hastily adding a character could throw off balance and stuff...

    latter part too

@L95 ssshh, let them at least get their feelings out lol

  9. About the recent article, this is pretty much what me and some others have been saying (we even recorded it in a podcast, though we realize it's not revolutionary speculation).

Hopefully this calms people down and gets them to see things reasonably. The choices made actually make the most sense. Once you get over fanboying/fangirling and jumping to illogical conclusions and stuff you see it for what it is and realize that Sakurai really could have totally duped us and actually did the best decision he could as far as making a good game while pleasing as many people as possible goes.

    *shruggles*

  10. I'm definitely trying out everyone, but at this point I may try to main half the cast; too many cool characters are getting revealed!

    This

No question I will probably spend like 20 hours on each character lol, yes if there are 45 characters in the final roster that means 900 hours, that is not even that many because some characters I will spend a hundred hours on *shot*

    The only exception is Wario

I freaking hate Wario, I will not master his ugly fat ass

sorry Wario fans, wherever you are, I just cannot stand him lol

Everyone else is fair game though, until I can whoop the average player with every character I will not be satisfied. As for who I play in competitive matches and stuff will probably come down to balancing because let's be honest, if you're playing competitively and actually care then you are going to use OP characters, if you're just doing it for fun then you will play whoever you naturally like to play which for me is Random after a certain point because I get too lazy to choose characters *shot*

  11. *shrug* there's no problem with it. The world and scale of One Piece is huge, much larger than other manga out there. That's why it's gone on for so long and will continue to go on as long as necessary. At no point did I ever feel that a certain element to the story was filler or unnecessary (in the manga) so it is not just extending it because they can or to milk the story.

Now if they found One Piece or whatever and the climax is over and they still kept the story going just to make money, that would be different. But we're not even close to that point. One Piece is long because it's incomparably deep.

It needs to die and burn. Seriously. Even Bleach and Naruto are coming to a close.

Also, just a little "fuck you" is in order just for being an asshole in a general sense. "Haters gon' hate" def applies here lol

  12. Sporting achievements... don't really have any but I was captain of the distance track team in HS and I play club-level Ultimate (essentially means you play as a member of a college/uni against other colleges/unis, but it doesn't get the same level of attention as sports like football or soccer). There's also club-level ultimate that isn't college-based and basketball but I the former I don't have time to do and the latter I just don't do (couldn't get started in HS due to personal reasons so I never got to be good so now I just play recreational... it's fun though).

if we're talking eSports, I made it into Masters league of StarCraft II at one point, and I won my high school Smash tournament... and did decently in others... and then there were the ones where I got wrecked jk eSports =/= Sports

in short, there is a reason I am a self-proclaimed geek: because I am not good enough at sports for them to be anything more than another hobby lol

  13. map sprite problem might be an animation data problem

Sappy problem might be you missing vbalCbEx6.ocx lol

try downloading mod 15 that fixes it for systems newer than Windows XP, or try finding said file and putting it in the folder

  14. I have nostalgia blasts quite a bit, it's kinda funny haha

sadly the first forum I remember going on about 10 years ago no longer exists :( it was where I first discussed FE and met some of the coolest people I can remember

  15. What graphics do you plan to edit? Do you want to add a new class, new hair colors, new levels, ETC?

    *facepalm*

You're the guy who used the HoS English translation as a base? The graphics are mostly compressed by LZ77-10 and LZ77-11 (can't remember the proper names), FE11 uses RLE on some graphics, programs like Puyo Tools and others on the HoS site or FES might be of help.

As far as knowing which graphics are changed, you can check the difference in files between the Japanese version of FE12 and English one to check that out. You'll also need to potentially edit the title screen which is some complicated texture I can't remember. Other graphics are generally split into 3 files... there's hardly any if any doc on this because NTG and I just... didn't bother, TMK (I could be wrong, I'll leave it to Vincent to ask if NTG has any proper notes).

The 3 files would be graphics, "TSA" or a tilemap, and palette. Tile Molester is sort of old-fashioned but can be useful for this. GBAGE is useful for editing TSA as it has a built-in TSA editor but you're going to want to keep various things in mind (e.g. you may need to decompress graphics first, you're going to have a lot of files to work with, there may be limitations on the RAM in some cases and you may want to consider what kind of tilemap is being used--we may have edited some of them quite a bit from the base or we might've only worked with the tiles, it's a pain but it's kind of up to you to decipher what we did--we didn't intend for anyone to use the translation as a base so it's not really user-friendly or open source, whatever struggles we went through are kind of up to you to go through, albeit to a slightly lesser extent if you're basing it off the HoS ROM, which I have assumed to be the case).

I'm tired so all I can offer is this rambling, sorry haha. I don't have time to help out or anything (I wish I could but I've got too many projects going on) so if you ever get stuck try asking on a hacking forum like GBATemp or something.
