  1. Reasons archers were good in FE4 was because they were either hit and run Midayle, I'mma kill you Jamka, sailor ichivalrape Bridget, I'll have killer and brave bows since no one else wants them Lester or I'mgoodnomatterwhomydaddyisandallIhavetofearislongrangemagiclolichivaldareturn

z Faval. They were either never gonna be touched, or were absolutely killing whatever they targeted.

    Gaiden archers rocked.

    but to be on topic...

Most loved? Heroes. No question. Only game to not have actual good mercenaries/heroes was FE8 and that was because Gerik was the only mercenary and he was STILL pretty good.

Archers got some loving in Gaiden and 10. Armor knights have been getting the shaft since the first game. Only good armor knight ever to be of any real use is Oswin and that's only because they actually had maps where he actually had shit to do that no one else would care to do/actually started close enough to enemies to actually do his job. The map after Noble Lady of Caelin comes to mind where the nomads and lance cavs spawn near merlinus at the start in what is a huge and twisty map, and Oswin could defend Merlinus by himself with a javelin or 2, an iron lance and a vulnerary. Seriously, who the hell else would care to stay behind to help out when Oswin could do it by himself anyways?

and yet again, I give a long winded dialogue x.x

  2. The idea is bad. Like, really really bad. It's so bad, it committed rape. I'm trying to think who the victim was...

...Oh yeah, it was Sakurai's reputation though not his standing, I'm sure Miyamoto thought it was the best idea ever. .

  3. ^ I agree. Brawl is good, but it doesn't keep me interested in it for very long. I spent 2 to 3 years playing and attempting to master Melee, while I only played Brawl for a couple of months and put it down.

Maybe its because Melee was my first console game, or that my friends and relatives were more interested in it; but Brawl doesn't have the magic that Melee had.

If it was your first console game it CERTAINLY adds magic to it, but Melee is just flat out better to teh point where it's just sad to see brawl be...so much more boring. It was more that Melee was much much MUCH more satisfying (THE KNEE!!!). Brawl is just not satisfying because it feels less like "YEAH! Gotcha, PUNK!" and more "FINALLY! It's about TIME you got knocked out...". Fighting games are great if they got speed to it. The sign of a good fighting game is that it's fast paced. There are slow ones that are pretty good, but Brawl is PAINFULLY slow to the point you put down the controller and say "Fuck it!" before you can even reach the opponent.

The game is boring, but crap like the fan and the character imbalance makes me hate brawl. I can't stand playing that game anymore. Even watching it is just painful...it could have been SO much better...

Odd part is, there was an interview with Sakurai, saying he wanted to make the game so no one would technically lose...Officially, Sakurai is a moron for putting such mentality into making a fighting game. I can't be nice about it. It's one thing to mess up with a game and it ends up bad, but when you purposefully remove aspects of a perfectly good formula for a game just to make it feel like you didn't really lose is inexusceable. It doesn't make you feel like you didn't lose or had fun, just makes you feel like you lost for clearly unfair reasons (flyer camping at new pork city, the physics making some characters nothing more than moving targets, the damned fan...).

See what I mean by motor mouth? I only originally planned to say the first part...x.x but part of me demands to be thorough to explain a point.

  4. I just didn't generally find Brawl fun. SSE was just garbage I didn't wanna finish but forced myself because it was the easiest way to get all the characters as the other ways were just as time consuming anyways. None of the new stages were any good (I love Earthbound/Mother, I love it's music and the remixed versions, but I hate fighting at New Pork City. if you're against anyone with flying jumps, you might as well give up). In 64 melee, sure items were luck based advantages, but only in Brawl did I ever feel like I wanted to turn them off. The fan is just...how did they miss that? It's damned inescapable! It was annoying formerly, but that's just incredibly stupid. Stage builder is indeed half-assed as stated before.

Then as for the actual gameplay...a slow fighter in itself might not be bad, but a clunky one is. Half the cast makes me feel like they're stomping through bread dough. Even the captain feels clunky, but instead of wading through dough, he just seems drunk with how slip-slidy he is. Then there's the killing aspect which seems to rarely happen, which is bizzare for a fighting game. Half the game just feels like waiting for your opponent to get back enough for you to be able to hit them again or waiting for them to fall down into the pit after attempting to recover. Heaven forbid you're against a flyer.

Finally, the characters...in all games, there's bound to be some characters better than others because some moves are just better than others or what have you. Never in a game have I actually NOTICED how much some characters just beat others. Even in fire emblem there's inbalance, but at least you feel rewarded for training the likes of someone like Nino when she's all ass-kicking once trained up. But, I've never touched the likes of Donkey Kong till brawl and thus I suck with him, but my friend has been using ganon since melee and he transitioned easily in brawl. He knew who he was using, I wasn't and STILL I beat him. Not only did I beat him, I shut him out! For how slow and clunky the game is, it's just too easy to smack ganon around. I beat him with taps if he even dared attack, then threw him off then meteor'd him because the way ganon jumps is juuuust right for donkey kong to hit him with one without even trying. Only move to worry about is ganon's choke and even then you can avoid that by simply jumping as actual dodging seems unecessary with just how slow it is. Was at no fault of my friend who plays ganon excellently, but rather the game. He gave up on ganon, someone he worships as the only badass of nintendo (my friend is a playstation guy), for Ike, the main character from a couple games of a series he HATES simply because ganondorf can't win in the new physics as no matter what, ganondorf is an easy target for every move imaginable. I used to be a captain falcon guy and he can't do anything anymore, he might as well be poking because he's never killing anything. Most of his game is hit enemy not far away, run towards them, try to hit again to get same results, repeat till enemy is at like 150-200% before his smashes can even really be effective/pray to god by some miracle that you hit with a falcon punch that sonic can cancel out with his own wussy punch smash. Switched to Lucario solely because Lucario he's a jackal pokemon with the hadouken can actually get things done and isn't spending an hour getting someone to a high enough percentage to finally be able to kill someone under the best conditions. With a fighting game, the idea is to play, compete, and win with a character you LIKE, not choose one of the few characters that can actually get something done. What's the point of a huge cast if most of them can't win anyways?

tl;dr, music was the only good thing about brawl.

Man, I need to learn to keep things brief...damn motor mouth.

  5. Hey, new here, all that jazz. Fairly interested in the series, can't wait for FE DS.

Interested in spriting too, but I work on a mac and this piece of plastic doesn't have any compatible aps that can even work with sprites...damned mac. Good for an internet connection and that's about it. But a computer's a computer, so it's not like a bad thing overall...

Also, I tend to be obsessive with balance (due to game theory studies) and tend to be a motor mouth. Don't talk much, but I'm hard to stop once I start.

Other than that...not much to say really.

Came over here from FE Planet.
