  1. That was the main contradiction that confirmed for me this film was definitely fiction. Well, that and this clip. Based on what we know about whale and Dolphin births, Mermaids probably wouldn't give birth at the seafloor. Whales and Dolphins birth near the surface so that they can help the newborn can take its first breath. Sharks birth further below because they don't breathe air. The area this mermaid gives birth in is at least 100 feet below the surface. WAY too far to quickly bring the newborn to the surface to take its first breath. Even if the Aquatic Ape Theory had factual basis, the fact of the matter is these Merfolk would HAVE to live near the the shore because it's unlikely they would have traded legs for a fin as this film would have you believe. At least not so quickly. And I'm pretty sure that if there WERE Mermaids based on this theory, we would know about it, their intelligence would be closer to us than Apes AND naturally people would take care not to pollute the oceans. It's one thing to have Greenpeace advocating for marine life. It's another to have the Mermaid version of Greenpeace boarding and kidnapping ships worldwide until the pollution stops.
  2. This should answer all your questions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfPWHPyU1u4 That's the film in full uploaded to You Tube.
  3. For the record this "Shockumentary" is a work of fiction. Sorry for not saying that in my OP. The only parts that have an factual basis are the Bloop Recordings and the fact Sonar does effect whales. The Bloop Recordings mentioned really exists but no one knows what it is. Some people believe the US Navy's Sonar testing is resposible for the mass beachings in recent years.
  4. Note: Above picture is a CGI Image of what they're believed to look like. Link: http://dsc.discovery...body-found.html More Videos: http://animal.discov...out-history.htm Discuss. Ignoring the impressive CGI representations of the creatures this show is about, you have to remind yourself it's all hypothetical. Even if you were to take the scientists', Retired Soldier and Fishermens' stories/footage at face value, the idea that these creatures are our genetic relatives isn't something I'm willing to believe without more proof than what was given. I was almost convinced these creatures exist but I certainly haven't been convinced they're an aquatic version of us. The evidence presented may lead you to believe that but given the decisive evidence was never produced AND the evidence discovered was discounted because of how insufficient it was...can't say they're part man. I did take three things from this 2-hour special, though: 1. The US Navy might know something about this (obviously). I'm not denying that *Dons Tin Foil Hat* I'm not gonna claim ignorance but if they're going out of their way to keep this creature's existence from the public (Investigating all alleged sightings worldwide), they must have their reasons. Considering the US Navy is the most powerful in the world and has a presence prettymuch EVERYWHERE you can put a boat...yeah. 2. One of the scientists falsely stated we know more about the moon than we do the deepest reaches of the oceans. That's only half-true and goes a bit with the above statement. The US Navy has been testing deep-sea vehicles in the Marinara Trench (Called "The Final Frontier On Earth" by some) for nearly 20 years. If the cellphone video and the CGI videos are to be believed then these Merfolk are constantly on the move. Therefore, the scientist is contradicted there. 3. Most obviously: If there have been worldwide sightings throughout the ages as this "Shockumentary" and myth would suggest, the creature would have been identified by now. The "teaser" shots only showing the creature from behind (humanoid head and fin) or an arm waving in a fisherman's net AND the lack of a followup investigation of these sightings by the science community is very telling. See, the NOAA Scientists must have been doing some stuff not mentioned in the documentary to have been followed by US and South African Officials. It's the only possible explaination otherwise the South African Government would have wanted their research to be made public (given South Africa is considered by most to be the birthplace of humanity). When it comes down to it for me: These creatures might exist and if they did they're probably not related to humans. The science community has already discounted the Aquatic Ape Theory presented in the film.
  5. Reminds me of a friend of mine on TPPC but in the case of my friend he knows where to draw the line. This Tedius person sounds like he should be avoided at all costs. That is exactly what I plan to do.
  6. ...Finally, I've found a civilized Dubbed vs. Subbed Debate Thread on the internet. Before I reply to the previous post I will say I'm strictly an English Dubs Man unless it's unavailable. "Mostly Bad Voice Acting" my ass, if the Anime is available in English I will watch it in English end of story. Plus as has been statated bad subs are usually worse but to each their own of course. Contrary to the perceived popular belief of the other side (who considers themselves the overwhelming majority for some reason) I've been watching Anime since the early 1990s. Even I will concede this point. Case example: Veronica Taylor as Ash Ketchum's Voice Actor. HORRIBLE IDEA! I didn't mind Malik Rose (Brock and James) but Taylor as Ash was horrrible. It's as if the VAs forget or don't care about the fact even if they're doing the voice of the opposite gender, age appropriateness matters. Luci Christain has voiced male roles herself. She did a good job in Ouran High School Host Club (went blank on the boy she voiced all of a sudden). Taylor's natural voice was too overpowering and Ash always came off as sounding whiny and arrogant. What's funny is I stopped watching after Taylor stepped down as Ash's VA a few years back but by then the damage had already been done. You're right to focus most, if not ALL of the blame on 4Kids for screwing over Dubs in the late 90s to early 2000s. I hold them personally responsible for turning people away from Dubs as they'd planned. Someone mentioned the One Piece incident. Remember the Bandit Keith scene? EVERYONE who saw it went "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? REALLY?!" with Keith pointing an invsible gun at Pegasus. They went WELL out of their way to Americanize the original Yu-Gi-Oh. Honda became Tristain, Jounnoichi became Joey...I could go on. What's really sad is some people have read the Manga and had been so "indoctrinated" by the Dub they thought the Manga was wrong! There's also the fact YGO's North American Premere was actually Season 2. Season 1 was skipped because of Yami/Atem's sadistic nature at the time. They felt they were doing the US a service in doing so but it would confuse the crap out of those who would go on to read the Manga (which correctly starts 1 season before). I have to disagree here. I think this goes with what you said at the start of the paragraph with this being a very simplistic Anime. You get the whole point of the anime in the first two episodes. I have no complaints for the main cast though a few minor characters could have had better VAs. People who watch DBZ Dubbed enjoy the VAs even if they will never admit it. Every Dub screening of DBZ Kai I attended at Anime Boston this year and last year was filled with "hardcore sub fans". In my opinion, if you hated it before you'd certainly go out of your way to avoid it now. The lines were virtually unchanged from the 90s so there's no real excuse. As an aside I am aware a few scenes or lines were intentionally changed or removed back when DBZ was airing on Cartoon Network's Toonami. In fact I remember alot of folks on the internet watched the Dub just to see what was changed. I can't really say I don't have a problem with them personally as you don't miss anything plotwise. As for Piccolo's Demon Containment Wave becoming Special Beam Cannon and Mr. Satan becoming Hercule...no comment XD This has been my experience with prettymuch all the Dubs I watch. That list is incomplete, mind you. I just finished watching High School of the Dead this morning and there's ALOT of Anime I haven't added to that list yet. Clannad is my favorite Anime of all time. It was the first Anime I bought on DVD (both seasons) after watching it on Netflix last year. Now having it on DVD I was able to watch it in Japanese with English Subs. Both tracks were equal in my honest opinion. Big Dango Family/Dango Daikazokou by Jun Maeda is my favorite non-English Song followed by Open Your Mind (OP for Ah! My Goddess! Season 1) by Youko Ishida and Hitohira No Hanabira (Bleach Seasons 12 and 13) by Stero Pony. Speaking of Stereo Pony: I saw them perform their latest AlbumA Hydrangea Blooms live at Anime Boston last year. It was AWESOME! Oh and I bought the Album too. I would also agree with you on the last sentance. In fact it's likely the main reason people hate Dubs. Well, I hate Facebook, You Tube and Twitter but there's no escaping them for me. Guess we're even? I will say though that I am not ignorant of Japanese Culture. I have been having debates with people who write Anime-based Fanfiction on the subject of Japanese honorifics. I don't use Japanese honorifics personally but I know how and WHEN to use them properly. Some people believe their Fanfic isn't "authentic" unless they use honorifics (which has been creeping into Dubs now based on what I've seen in Ouran and Clannad). I'm concerned people are going to go around using the honorifics with no real idea of when it's appropriate and when it isn't or worse, use them liberally in everyday life like it's the shit. ...Anyway we'll save that for another thread XD SO TRUE. The same can be said for Video Games as well. I'm sure you guys are aware the debate has recently spilled into video games, too. Koei decided to release Samurai Warriors Chronicles and Warriors Orochi 3 Subbed (English Text but Japanese VAs). I was disapponted but my love of the Warriors games did not stop me from buying AND enjoying both games as they were. Interestingly, the Wii-Only Samurai Warriors 3 was billingual English and Japanese. I was surprised they didn't do this for WO3, at least even as DLC. Johnny Bosch Young sells Yukimora IMO and I prefer Kenshin, Nobunaga, Shingen and Kunoichi's English VAs to their Japanese ones. ...If you're annoyed by the way the voices SOUND and not the dialogue itself, mute the fucking TV, problem soled.
  7. Same. The number of people who were actually effected is VERY small and IMHO the way they rolled out the news created needless panic. Besides, those who were infected should have had their computers cleaned well before today anyways.
  8. I had NBA.com tabbed. At the time I was putting my team together, Camby was playing for the Blazers. I left out the International Players because they usually play for their home country during the Olympics (Remember Tony Kukoc is '92?). Of course some American Players join other teams to play in the Olympics but it's not as common. I left out LBJ because I hate the guy personally and left out Kobe Bryant because he's a popular choice anyways.
  9. First here is the original Dream Team: 1992 Olympic Games: finished 1st among 12 teams Michael Jordan, Erivin "Magic" Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Chris Mullin, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, John Stockton, David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Christian Laettner (Coach: Chuck Daly) Note 11 of the players are Hall of Famers =O ...I challenge you to buil your own USA Basketball Team. The main rule being strictly enforced is you must use active players from a College or NBA Team. International Players are ok if they currently play for an NBA or College team or they were drafted into the NBA. Free Agents (Both Unrestricted and Restricted) are fine but players who are injured or have announced they are not going to play for the USA Team must be left out. The same goes for Coaches. They can be College or Pro. Aside from this anything goes. You can state your reasons for your picks but you don't have to if you don't want to. Here is my 12: Coach Doc Rivers Players Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) Brandon Bass (Boston Celtics) Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers) Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers) Nate Robinson (Golden State Warriors) Amar'e Stoudemire (New York Knicks) Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder) Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks) Marcus Camby (Portland Trailblazers) Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics) Notes I decided against using more known players simply because of the age factor and because many of them have either announced they would not be playing USA Basketball or they were selected and dropped the team. I'm a Celtics fan and would have loved to have used the rest of the Boston's Big Four (Pierce, KG, Allen and Rondo) but the New Big Three has been addled by injuries and father time.
  10. Hey guys. I'm thinking of doing a panel at Anime Boston about the Fire Emblem series. I have the basic structure on how I want to do it but my knowledge of Fire Emblems 1 through 5 is limited compared to the others. I have access to the games themselves but the Translation patches for 2, 3 4, and 5 are hard to find. Basically, I'd open with an overview of each game as well as cameos in the Smash Bros. Games. After that, I'd go into the Anime for the original Fire Emblem (I've seen the first 4 episodes) and the huge following it has here in the US. I just want some ideas on stuff I could or should cover in addition to this. I'm planning to fill an hour so the more ideas the better ^_^
  11. Weeell microsurgery involves reattaching nerves so I'd say they still have the use of the arm.
  12. And I shit you not this really happened: Excerpted from the article:
  13. This is why I haven't been around all month. I'm gonna be presenting two panels at Anime Boston next weekend plus I'm still working on my website. I'm backed up worse than Boston at evening rush hour lol. I should be more active when it's over ^_^
  14. ...Ouch. Weeeell I can see I went about this all wrong. Since there's a definite NO from SF I'll focus on the Ace Attorney Fan Game with based on Fire Emblem characters. The reason I proposed the cross-site projects was because I learned this morning Court Records Co-Founder Wooster is also a member of Serenes Forest. I told Vincent about him and proposed the idea of cross-site fan games to both of them. I wasn't seriously expecting folks to be on board from the start but the reactions by most has caused my mood to nosedive. This will probably be the last time I propose an idea like this for a long time. I don't think I was being vague given this was merely an idea as opposed to a plan. Had I planned this out in great detail I would've had an outline of the expectations and so on. Once again, sorry for wasting your time.
  15. Ok, now I am geeking out xD ...Guess this means Serene Adventure will have to cover Fire Emblem as well as Court Records in its Video Game Museum then ^_^ It kinda sucks neither brand was mentioned in the North American Nintendo Direct >.>;
  16. EDIT: Could an Admin Move this to ROM Hacking Please. ...I'll edit this with the link to the sister thread on CR after Reggie does his thing. Anyway, to commemorate the awesomeness that is CR and SF I propose a game set in each universe. Court Records will be doing Phoenix Wright while Serenes Forest will be doing Fire Emblem. Fire Emblem side, we'll do a game featuring characters from the Ace Attorney games. Who plays what role will be decided democratically of course. Also: Since I can't sprite to save my life, this is where you guys come in (LOL). If you need Official Art to use as a base, Court Records has them all here: http://www.court-records.net/Media.htm I know how to hack the GBA ROMs so I can help in that regard though. CR will be doing an Ace Attorney game with Fire Emblem Characters. Defense Attorneys, Prosecutors, etc. will be decided there if you wanna join the conversation. Here's the Link to the Court Records Thread: http://forums.court-...hp?f=12&t=21763 And Here's a rough overview of the Serenes Forest Project I'm proposing: -This will be a full game. Probably using Fire Emblem 7 or 8 as the base. - I'm pretty sure the project will take 1-5 months to finish depending on interest, etc. - Music from the Ace Attorney Games. If we were to base the game on Blazing Sword, here's a short list of who could be who: Godot as Tactician Lyn-Mia Fey Eliwood-Miles Edgeworth Hector-Phoenix Wright Sain-Larry Butz Kent-Dick Gumshoe Serra-Pearl Fey Erk-Mike Meekins Raven-Steel Samurai/Will Powers Priscilla-Adrian Andrews Guy-Apollo Justice Matthew-Kristoph Galvin Nils-Klavier Gavin Ninian-Ema Skye Wallace-Marvin Grossberg Just an idea ^_^
  17. Nothin' beats geeking out with my people =D

  18. .....On-Topic: I'm willing to bet my left eye Reggie's gonna tease us as usual regarding Fire Emblem. He might mention it but won't get into specifics. It's so not fair x.X
  19. Nice to see Court Records nicely represented here ^_^

  20. ...I have no idea why I'm surprised to see the Head Admin and Co-Founder of Court Records is also a die-hard Fire Emblem fan. Silly me assuming stuff again >.>; ...Damn it, you even used the same Sig and Avatar here xD
  21. That's good t know. How about we remove the filter altogether, eh?
  22. Shit, ain't that Bernie Mac? If it is I hope he got an Oscar Nomination for the performance xD
  23. I knew about the Thread Titles thing hence why I didn't put it in the title =D
  24. I'm African American and I'm fine with the chaos that may or may not erupt as a result of sharing this video ^_^ Link: Enjoy =D
  25. Deviant Art, Twitter, You Tube and 4Chan I can understand but Facebook?
