Tybrosion
Welp, pack it up everybody. The forbidden Resplendent is finally coming so EoS should soon be following. Obvious joke aside, I should really look into overhauling my Camilla. I have her at +10 but I never use her (though she definitely isn’t the only +10 where that’s the case). Ice Dragon
I forgot it was that time of the month already. The next Resplendent Hero is Dokkalfheimr Camilla: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler She's cute, but replacing the π/ belt with a thorned rose vine looks like it would be really uncomfortable. With the Resplendent stat boosts, she has 44+/37-/39/35-/38 with maximum Dragonflowers, which is an extremely flat distribution that gives her a lot of middling stats with no real strengths. Her base weapon is also pretty outdated, granting only +4 Atk/Spd to herself when near a mounted ally and +3 Atk/Spd to nearby mounted allies. While there isn't an Arcane axe with a guaranteed follow-up yet, she can make up for it with the newly released Wyvern Rift, but she'll be forced to rely on a Spd+Def comparison, which can still be difficult due to her middling base stats. That said, Arcane Thrima can help out with its Def penalty application and Sabotage effect, and she can further debuff opponents' Spd and Def with a Rein skill, though it costs her the ability to run an Oath 4 skill. It is worth noting that Wyvern Rift's additional damage and flat damage reduction are based on the unit's out-of-combat Def stat, so a +10+25 Resplendent Camilla would still need 3 more points of visible Def to max out the effect. A stat bonus is the easiest way to achieve this, but with more units that nullify stat bonuses, it would be more reliable to use a more permanent source of stats, such as an Asset (preferably an Ascended Asset since Spd is still preferable as a main Asset), blessing bonus, or Squad Ace Sacred Seal. This is our first Dokkalfheimr outfit this calendar year with the previous one being Awakening Tiki in December of last year. Amusingly, 5 of the game's 11 Dokkalfheimr outfits are on Fates characters. And here's this year's lineup so far: Nifl Ilyana Askr Brave Veronica Hel Soren Embla Brave Celica Embla Selena Nifl Brave Hector Jotunheimr Hana Muspell Black Knight Muspell Male Grima Dokkalfheimr Camilla

Ice Dragon
We're getting the next Resplendent Hero announcement a day early again, and this time, it's our first Vanaheimr outfit, Vanaheimr Ayra: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler She gets her poofy Genealogy hair back. Her stats with the Resplendent boost and maximum Dragonflowers are 49-/41/45/39/29, which are decent. Her weapon is comparable to Arcane Devourer, granting +7/7/4/4, the Slaying effect, the Tempo effect, and 20% damage reduction on the opponent's first attack. For comparison, Arcane Devourer grants +5/8/5/5, the Slaying effect, +1 Special charge rate, 40% damage reduction on the opponent's first attack, and Null Follow-Up. Here's what we have so far this year: Nifl Ilyana Askr Brave Veronica Hel Soren Embla Brave Celica Embla Selena Nifl Brave Hector Jotunheimr Hana Muspell Black Knight Muspell Male Grima Dokkalfheimr Camilla Vanaheimr Ayra Edited May 24 by Ice Dragon
Sunwoo
Ayra's art has a very ... 80s anime-esque feel. It's also giving me some Jojo vibes. She looks nice.
Magenta Fantasies
Finally, a Vanaheimr Resplendent! It took IS until halfway through Book 8 to use this theme. I’m lukewarm about Ayra as a character (mostly because I haven’t played Geneaology of the Holy War) but I really like her art and the Vanaheimr spin on her outfit. I also have three of her, so I could make her a +3 merge. Swift Sparrow 2 is the only skill she has that is 5-star premium fodder.

Tybrosion
For those keeping score, that’s the third Jugdral Resplendent drawn by Suzuki Rika. Gee, I do wonder who would IS pick to be the lead artist for a FE4 and/or FE5 remake? Oh, and I will admit that I did think this was Shannan when I saw the in-game notification. 2 hours ago, Ice Dragon said: Swift Sparrow 2 is no longer a 5-star premium skill. To go further with this, Swift Sparrow 3 has existed since 2019 and there’s like four skills now that branch off from Swift Sparrow 2 (Surge, Flared, Remote and Flash Sparrows). Swift Sparrow 2 is also on a 2019 GHB unit (Naesala) and a 2020 TT unit (Winter Felix), though they also only get it at 5-star rarity like Luthier and Kiragi. I know people rave about Suzuki's work, but I really don't like most of her works based on what I saw in Heroes and Cipher. Something about the way she draws faces just really bugs me, and I wish I could explain it but I can't find the words. But yes, Ayra does look a lot like Shannan. And like a Jojo character. The Vanaheimr outfit design is also pretty decent now that we can remove it from Seithr and Heithr, whose clothes just looked really not great. This week's 4-star special heroes ticket gave me an Ayra who was +atk -res, and when I looked at her kit and stats again it made me sad that this character who was once considered so OP is very meh by today's standards. The way Resplendent Ayra's face looks is enough to get me to prefer Asatani Tomoyo's original art.

Suzuki Rika has a beautiful coloring style, but I don’t love how she draws faces. She’s not one of my favorite FEH artists, but she’s far from my least favorite. Etrurian emperor
That's pretty deserved. Arya's probably among the more iconic FE4 characters.

There's a huge gulf between "available on a unit in the 4-star pool, but needs a 5-star promotion" and "only available from the 5-star pool". I think most people use "premium" to refer to the latter exclusively, so while Swift Sparrow 2 might be a "5-star" skill, it isn't "(5-star) premium". But if you want to get really pedantic, Swift Sparrow 2 is available on Ninja Male Corrin and Phantom Thief Sothe at 4-star rarity.
Fire Emblem Fan
I will say, I'm a little surprised they went to Ayra immediately after Camilla. Ayra is a character that's been pretty notable in her lack of content, she's one of the most popular characters in all of FE4, and she's been one of the more requested characters for a Resplendent. I'd have thought they'd immediately use a less popular character to fold in with Camilla's Resplendent, and then use Ayra sometime afterwards. Ice Dragon
The next Resplendent Hero is Ljosalfheimr Hinoka: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Probably my favorite Ljosalfheimr outfit yet. You can see all of the elements of her original outfit in this one without them being completely covered up by the theme. As for stats, Hinoka has been pretty outdated for a while now, having only 48-/42/39/32+/31 with maximum Dragonflowers and the Resplendent boost. This still makes her one of the slowest lance fliers in the game (because there are very few dragon knights with lances), but her Atk stat is actually pretty decent. Her exclusive weapon also doesn't help with her Spd, as its only combat effect is +4 Atk/Spd, making it worse than either of the Arcane options, which can provide +5/8 along with additional in-combat effect. With maximum Dragonflowers and maximum merges, she'll hit 36 Def without an Asset, which is actually high enough to cap out Wyvern Rift's effect (at 42 visible Def) with just a +6 Def stat bonus. However, with her middling Spd and just barely hitting the Def cap for Wyvern Rift, it'll still be difficult to activate the effect against many of the faster units in the game that can stack Spd more easily and have 10 points more Spd while matching her Def, so she'd have to pass up on Atk boosts for Def boosts, which is not ideal. So, here's what we've had so far this year: Nifl Ilyana Askr Brave Veronica Hel Soren Embla Brave Celica Embla Selena Nifl Brave Hector Jotunheimr Hana Muspell Black Knight Muspell Male Grima Dokkalfheimr Camilla Vanaheimr Ayra Ljosalfheimr Hinoka I would've liked if they doubled up on Vanaheimr just to help it catch up a bit (to Nidavellir, which is not a high bar), but the last Ljosalfheimr outfit was Nina on July 10 of last year, which means they're literally 1 slot shy of having gone an entire year without one, so I guess this makes sense. Now that we've finally gotten another Ljosalfheimr outfit, Nidavellir is now the only theme that hasn't gotten representation this calendar year. We also still have no male Alfheimr outfits and no female Nidavellir outfits.
Magenta Fantasies
I’m neutral on this Resplendent. Her art isn’t among the best for Resplendents, but it’s certainly not among the worst. Reading some of Hinoka’s supports has shifted my opinion of her from neutral to lukewarm, but she’s still far from my favorites Fates character. Personally, I’m not a fan of Hinoka’s Resplendent outfit. It looks too similar to her normal outfit. Resplendent Lyn (base Lyn,) Ilyana, Shigure, Ninian, and Selena amongst some others I’m forgetting have the same problem. Four of those five are Nifl Resplendents, which reminds me why Nifl is one of my least favorite themes.
Sunwoo
Oh fuck it all, they're going to make Sakura a fairy too, aren't they? ;/ I mean, Hinoka's art is nice and it's actually one of the better resplendent arts, but it doesn't really make sense for her. Personally, I think Jotunheimr or Askr would've made more thematic sense with her. And it's annoying how basically half the girls nowadays just get stuffed into the fairy realm, which is personally my least favorite. (And I'm more than just a little annoyed that most of my favorite female characters keep getting stuck with this theme. Not that Hinoka is anywhere near my favorites, but this basically dooms Sakura to being a fairy too.)
Fire Emblem Fan
While the art is actually pretty good and I think an improvement to Hinoka's original art, I do also agree that the theme is...not fitting. Not for Hinoka, anyway. She should have had a different theme, but at least the art is good, so that kind of makes up for it a little bit. Tybrosion
7 hours ago, Sunwoo said: Oh fuck it all, they're going to make Sakura a fairy too, aren't they? ;/ If you're a female Fates character, odds are pretty good you're going to get one of the fairy themes: Fates Females with a Fairy Resplendent (8): F!Corrin, Kagero, Hinoka, Camilla, Elise, Rhajat, Nina, Ophelia Fates Females with any other Resplendent theme (4): Azura, Hana, Effie, Selena And so far, Azura is the only female royal who didn't get one of the fairy themes. With that in mind, Sakura can be safely penciled in for a fairy Resplendent.....whenever she gets a Resplendent, of course.

Ice Dragon
The next Resplendent Hero is Nifl Helpful Chrom: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler I'm glad Nifl-themed armor no longer looks like Hrid's shoulder bricks. Helpful Chrom is at least pretty decent with the Resplendent boosts, having 48-/44/35-/41/24- with maximum Dragonflowers. For comparison, Rearmed Lif has 43-/45+/31-/43-/28-, which is only slightly more min-maxed, having just 2 more points of Atk and Def.. Sealed Falchion is also a stat stick that grants more stats than Arcane Eljudnir at the cost of fewer skill effects. Sealed Falchion grants +10/10/10/5, effective damage against dragons, and follow-up prevention. Arcane Eljudnir grants +6/0/6/6, a stat refine (+2 Atk or +4 Def), the Slaying effect, a guaranteed follow-up, follow-up prevention, and Guard. And Chrom is capable of running Brash Assault 4 or Potent 4 to make up for the lack of a guaranteed follow-up on Sealed Falchion, though he'll lose out on Canto. So, so far this year, we've gotten: Nifl Ilyana Askr Brave Veronica Hel Soren Embla Brave Celica Embla Selena Nifl Brave Hector Jotunheimr Hana Muspell Black Knight Muspell Male Grima Dokkalfheimr Camilla Vanaheimr Ayra Ljosalfheimr Hinoka Nifl Helpful Chrom Which means we're still missing a Nidavellir outfit this year. And I feel like Chrom would've worked well with a Nidavellir outfit instead. Sure, I'd prefer to finally get a female character in a Nidavellir outfit, but at this point, I'd rather we just get a Nidavellir outfit at all. On the bright side, this is apparently the first Nifl outfit for an Awakening character. Edited June 25 by Ice Dragon
Magenta Fantasies
Given the number of Awakening Resplendents and Nifl Resplendents, I’m surprised they haven’t overlapped until now. I’ve already stated my piece about alts getting alts, but this one especially annoys me for two reasons. Not only is the design and color scheme similar to what Knight Chrom already wears (a consistent problem with Nifl Resplendents,) but it’s a Chrom alt that always felt superfluous to me. It’s not even something like a Legendary or CYL alt.

Fire Emblem Fan
I forgot Helpful Chrom was even in the game, so this one took me by surprise. I'm also a little surprised that we got out third 5-star unit in a row, it feels like we're due for a Grail unit sometime soon. I like the art. It might be one of my favorite Resplendent arts? Something about it really works for me.
